First of all, what's your name and what are you studying at MIT?
My name is Jasmine. I'm studying computer science.

So the first question is, what do you think is the biggest stereotype of MIT students?
That we're nerdy. Nerds. That we're nerds. Yeah.
These are competitive, but work all the time. That all we do is study and grind.
And what do you think about those stereotypes?
Yeah, they're-- oh yeah, there's new ones. Sometimes it's true.
Yeah. Yeah. We actually do more things. We have fun, too.
So everyone here is a nerd?
Yeah. Yeah, to a certain extent. Okay. Everyone here is nerdy, but then there's like hardcore nerds.
Do you think you're a nerd?
I guess to some extent, but not like super. We're not all nervous. Okay. You're just like kind of nerdy.
Yeah. How many hours do you spend a week studying, do you think?
Oh god. Oh um. Okay, we're seniors. It's a little different now.
Yeah. Okay, I'd say like six to eight hours a day.
Right. I feel like that's not-- what are you-- are you like including the lecture time?
No, lecture time not included. Like year by year, freshman year how often pressure you're like every day. Yeah, like that varies a lot, like maybe like three to five hours a day.
Okay, hours a day, like five, six. Like for a pizza. Yeah, five, six. Also, he like picks up things quicker, and I'm much slower, so I need more time. Let's have it now. Now it's like, do the p-set the day before kind of thing.
Do you ever feel burnt out at MIT already?
Yes. Yeah, since freshman year. Since the first day. Like yeah, I can probably make it through the next few weeks, but uh, it's not exactly going to be easy. There's always a point like during the semester where I just like stop having any idea what's going on in any of my classes.
Yeah, I feel the same way.
When do you think is your average bedtime?
That also depends on when the work is due. Well, it's a bit different for me because I row crew, and we practice very early in the mornings, so I'm probably asleep by 11 or midnight most nights.
I go to bed at like 10 p.m.
Oh, really? Yeah, but I wake up really early.
How early? Like six-ish.
Okay, that's nice. Me too.
When do you wake up?
5:30 a.m.
Okay. Every day?
Every day. I had like eight hours last night.
Yeah, same, like eight to twelve because we're fasting right now, so like we're trying to sleep as much as we can.
Oh, nice. How about freshman year? Do you guys find yourself using your phones a lot?
So I'd say like during my study time it's like so long because like I also like use my phone.
What is your average screen time daily?
Yeah, I think you should check. Um, I can pull it up. Does Samsung have that?

Five hours. Oh, less than five hours. That's not bad.
Yeah. Um, I think like probably six. Oh, let me see. Uh, three hours, 45 minutes.

What do you guys want to do after college?
Something big. Something fake. I don't know what yet. It's in the works. Um, I actually, I want to do something more business-related, I think, even though I'm a chemist. Something down in Washington D.C.

I think I'm kind of over engineering. I'm not gonna lie.
Is it MIT?
Um, yeah, I think so. Sorry guys, but I'm just being honest. It's a lot of kids in big lecture halls, and nobody particularly cares for the subject. Like I think it's just like so hard.
Would you want to be growing up? Uh, I wanted to be an economist, and having dealt with the economics program here, I sort of just want to get that degree and move on with my life.
What was your dream school?
It was Penn for a while, but uh, Penn rubbed me the wrong way after a while.
Why? Just very uptight. Okay. Um, very full of themselves. Which now we've got Harvard for that. I just applied here to MIT here. Yeah, I really wanted to go to Columbia, so I applied ED, and then two days later I got into MIT, and I was like, yeah, it's good enough. Right?
Yeah. Did you get rejected by any schools?
Uh, I got waitlisted for Princeton. Oh god. Uh, that was it. I got waitlisted. So I got rejected all the IVs I applied to.
At Stanford. Well, they're missing out. Okay. This is last question: Is do you like MIT for the most part?
For the most part, absolutely. Yeah, I'm happy. Yeah. No. Yeah, like I wouldn't go anywhere else. Yeah, I am. I'm having a good time. The people are what make it--
What's your favorite part about MIT?
The people here. I, Keenan's a homie. Just like they're all awesome and very accepting and just wonderful people, honestly.
