Transcription

Remember that explosive diarrhea parasite in the US that I was telling you about?

Yeah. Cycllospory sporasis. Well, apparently there are cases in the UK.

What?

Yeah. It's been all over the news here. Thousands of people have been really sick and on the toilet like 20 times a day, and it can last over a month.

So, how did it get to the UK?

Well, 67 cases have been reported since April, and most of them are people returning from trips to Mexico.

So, should I be avoiding certain foods?

If you're staying in the UK, you're probably fine. Experts say the parasite that causes the illness isn't found where you are and it doesn't spread from person to person.

Okay, but wait, I'm going abroad soon.

Well, even if you are staying somewhere fancy, I would maybe stay away from the salad. Try to drink only bottled water and eat only cooked foods. And maybe avoid things like fresh berries, fresh herbs, and unpeeled fruit. Safe travels.
