This is a strange shape called the Goombuk. It was discovered not by accident, but through pure mathematics by two Hungarian scientists in 2006.
At first glance, it looks like a mix of round, oval, and angular. But here is what makes it different. It is a perfectly solid object with no hidden weights, and it has only two balance points. One is stable, one is not.
Place it on a flat surface, and it will always roll back to its stable position. Even if you force it to stand on the unstable side, a single touch is enough to send it back again. Fun fact, this shape was inspired by the natural design of a turtle's shell.
