Welcome back, guys. Today we're back on the sand, finally. Uh, there's a couple of guys beat me with a spot down here. The water's looking pretty clean today. Wave action is not real high, but uh, we're still going to give it a try. Today we're going to be fishing for some Pompano, maybe some Whiting. So, uh, it's actually a beautiful day, so stick around.
All right, guys. As you can see, the wave action is not real high, but right over in there, you can actually see a miniature run-out. You could tell by, if you watch the foam from those waves, the foam will start going out, and you'll see it going out, and it'll continue to run out. So that's probably where I'm going to start. So, uh, let's see what happens right here.
All right, guys. Today we're fishing with some Fish Bites. I got a S-Fleet on the bottom, shrimp on top, and always we have Seeker gust. But Nick and I have a a DS Custom Tackle uh, float on top that is actually a modified Bruno rig by the Sinker guy. So we're going to see how these, uh, know if you can see that, these DS Custom Tackle uh, floats work today. We're going to put them to the test. Like I said, uh, got a decent run-out right here. It's a small run-out. The uh, wave action is not real high today. We're going to give it a try. The water's pretty clean, so Pompano love clean water, so we're going to see how this works out.
All right, guys, fish on. This does not seem like a Pompano; this seems much bigger. Probably a, I don't know. I know it's a Stingray, maybe. I know, kind of running the beach, see what it is. No, it is a Pompano. It is a Pompano. Let's go look at that, guys. This is my first Pompano of the season. If you've been following me for a while, you know that the first Pompano of the season always goes back. It's just my way of giving back, you know, a little bit of conservation. So he's going to go back. Let's go, and there he goes. Man, he was fighting hard. I thought it was a big Catfish or maybe a Redfish. So that fish was caught on the the bottom dropper on sand flea Fish Bites. So we're going to keep going with that. Whoa. So we're going to throw this back out there at about the same spot, same distance out there. Let's go.
All right, guys, big bite. I just threw this one out. Big bite. Oh, I don't know what this is. This cannot be a Pompano. This is a big fish. It seems like a Stingray. It's coming [Music] in. I don't know. Yeah, it's a Stingray, it looks like. Yep, and I do not have my pliers. All right, let's turn this off. Let's see if I my pliers.
All right, guys, just a beginner tip. A lot of people, you know, try to make this thing complicated. Now I always say, just cast where there's no waves or in between the waves. And they say, well, is that vertical or horizontal? The answer is yes. So if you see here, there's waves over here and there's waves over here. Now there's no waves there, so that means the water is deeper right here, and that is exactly where I've been casting my baits. So I have cast it in between the waves. Now if you look down the beach, you can see the water is crashing right here and out there. Now if you cast in between the waves here, that means you've cast it in the trough. Again, you've cast it in between the waves. So that's why I tell people just to cast in between the waves, and you're good. So it kind of makes sense. So again, I have waves there, there's none here, and then I have them again over there. So the water is actually deeper here, and that's where I've casted my baits, and again in between the waves over there is the trough. So that's just a simplified version of the way I tell people to how to fish the beach: just cast them between the waves.
Well, guys, I went, moved, um, the tide got so far out that it's exposed the sandbars. So I got on top of one of the sandbars. Now you can actually see the run-outs that uh, that I was set up on. So the run-out is right here, and if I turn around, you can see one of the guys next to me kind of did the same thing I did, and you can see the run-out behind me, too. There's actually run-outs all along this beach. So, uh, I just got, I just caught something and it it got off. So it looked like a Ladyfish. So we're going to stick right here just for uh, for a little while and see what happens. All right. Oh, got another one. Come on, stay on. He's on. How pants almost fell off. Oh, I think he just came off. No, he didn't. Come on, stay on. I got to back him up. Woo, he's on. He's right there, skiing. All right, there he is. I don't know if he's legal, but I got him. He might be right at 11. We're going to get him back in there. Dude down the beach there is getting jealous, cuz I think I'm beating him. He keeps going into the cooler and getting uh, fresh bait, and I'm just using Fish Bites. Naked Fish Bites. I wouldn't say I'm necessarily killing them today, but I wouldn't, I am not getting skunked, so that's a good thing. All right, stud, let's go.
All right, guys, this is a quick tip. This bird right here is called a Sandpiper. If you can find one of these, pay close attention to them because they'll tell you exactly where the sand fleas are. They'll go along the beach and they'll follow the tide down exactly how he's doing right here, and they'll scoop up sand fleas and they'll eat them. So just pay close attention, and they'll tell you exactly where they are. And I'm going to grab my sieve, see if I can go scoop some up.
All right, guys. Well, here's proof. Right where that Sandpiper was just crapping, I just lost one. Well, there's another one right here in my sieve. It's proof that if you pay attention to where those guys are, there he is down there scooping up some more. They'll tell you where the sand fleas are. So I'm going, I'm going to keep on, there's a, I think there's a little bed of them right here, so I'll try to get some more.
All right, guys, I'm going to show you how to hook a sand flea, or how I like to hook a sand flea. But if you already have Fish Bites on, just go ahead and push them up out of the way. The way I like to put a little bit bigger piece of Fish Bites on there, kind of bend it and put a hook through it. But anyway, go ahead, push it up out of the way. So this sand flea has a little tail that they like to, or they'll let have their eggs underneath her tail here, which what I'll do is I'll take this hook and I'll push it through the tail, and which that'll do is it'll help the tail pin down those eggs inside there. So if you can see this, I'll push the hook through the tail and out the other side, and just barely come out. The barb will come out just like that. You kind of push this Fish Bite back down on there, and that's it. Oh, let's see what we got. Feels like it's swimming to me again. Oh, no, he's there. Come on, he's swimming the beach. It's going south again. Oh, get out of that surf, get out of that surf. Come on, let's back him up, back him up, back him up. Come on, come on. It's a Pompano, boys. Yes, sir. Oh, he came off right here. Look at there. Yes, sir. You know what? Come on, guy. Oh my gosh, what's wrong with me today? Oh my God.
All right, guys, stay still. Just want to take pictures of you. For real, though, I got to take a picture of you. Haven't got a picture of any of you all day, and my camera is, is in my bucket. You're just a stud. Not really, probably. What, about 14, maybe 13 and 1, 12 to the fork? Oh, guys, I think my other rod's going off. Oh, you got to go back, guy. Got another one. Hold on. Woo. Another Pompano. Yes, sir. See, he's a little small. Hey, that's what we came to get, though. That's a good sign. They're definitely here. Another little guy. I keep casting in the same exact location, in the same area, same distance, and I keep getting Pompano, so I'm going to keep doing the same thing and hopefully get the same results. All right, little dude, let's go.

Oh, shoot, stop it, stop it. Jesse, flip them. He's a Pompano. Yes, sir. Nice. That's a good eat size, isn't it? Yes, sir. I got a, with this, what kind of weights, guys, use, uh, Butt Mix, or I'm using 4 oz of Butt, uh, actually I'm using Sinker Guy's Button Mix. Okay. Oh shoot, I was going to give him a measure real quick. Yeah, see how, see. Oh, so he's only 12 to the fork. Yeah, 12 to here. Yes, sir. Right here to the fork. I think he's leaving. Yep. Did you want to uh, keep, are you keeping fish today? No, I'm just kind of trying to learn this stuff. Okay. Well, better at it. I'm going to release them and uh, whoa. I can give you some tips real quick. That'd be great, man. Any kind of help I can get. All right, let me uh, I'll I'll even hook you up with some sinkers real quick. Well, I've got 4 on the, now it seems to be okay, sitting there. They are, they are, they holding? Yeah, they seem to be holding, so I think I'm okay there, cuz I know how expensive this, all right. Well, yeah, let me uh, let me let me get them back. Can uh, maybe show you a thing or two. We've been doing a lot of saltwater fishing, but mostly from piers and stuff. The first time really finding a, yes, sir. Whoa, wo, wo. All right, Jesse, there he goes. Ooh, this is a big one. Don't know what it is. It just rode that way in. Come on. Another Pompano. All right, finally got him off. Decent size. They're all about 12 today. They're all about the same size, but hey, they're legal, but we're not keeping fish today. All caught on Naked Fish Bites. Fish Bites only. I haven't caught anything, nothing on sand fleas. So later, Kyle. Oh, here we go. Oh, feels like a much better fish. I don't feel, I can't tell what it is. It's pulling hard. It's running the beach, guys. Oh, it's a Pompano. I see it out there in the surf. Do not come off, please. It's a good one. Back them up, back them up, back them up. Oh yeah, heck yeah. Yeah, nice. Not as good as I thought. He's a good one. Check him out. Yes, sir. Nice. That's what I'm after for you today. I don't know, but probably about, yeah, nice. If you guys were keeping fish, I'd give them to you. What's the legal size on those? 11, 11, maybe 11 inches. Yeah, he's that, oh yeah, he's about 12. Mhm. Nice. I've caught about, I don't know, four or five this size today. That's nice. Yeah, yeah, we for fun, we usually put them back unless it's like a flounder or something. Right? I haven't caught any flounder this year yet. No, but I caught one like this last August. Mhm. Over at the Banana River. Oh, wow. Yeah, they they hang out there. Oh yeah, and we put him back, too. But let me tell you a little secret: I bought these last Pompano season, so this makes these Fish Bites about 6 months old now. They're a little hard, and they're turning white a little bit, but they still work. So that's pretty awesome, guys. The sun's coming in, and I've got traffic to beat home.
