Why Some People Have Presence

There's no doubt that movement is one of the most beautiful forms of art and expression.

And honestly, one of the things that make that very obvious is people's obsession with horror fun. People love seeing the body contort, bend, flow, and move in an almost hypnotic fashion.

This is also why dancing is so appealing to watch because the confidence and expression many dancers portray is very compelling. And honestly, a lot of the time it's not even just the confidence, but it's the emotion the dancers can portray in the movements they make. And depending on the dancers, they can make a lot of their movements look effortless.

That's of course till you try them. "Come on now, dog." And realize how much skill and technique is actually required.

But on the flip side, posing for things like fashion is just as important and compelling. The runway. The money shot. These things play very significant roles in the realm of modeling because they enhance not only themselves, but the clothes that they are wearing.

It's summer time when you're taking pictures and you're stressing about having the right angles, the right pose, and the environment. And we do this because we understand these things enhance our entire being and not just our outfits. You know, it gives us that aura.

And look, this could very well delve into spirituality. And I'll save that for another video. It's crazy y'all want that. You want that video? Let me know in the comments if you want to see a a what fashion and spirituality video. I got you.

But as humans, we naturally read body language. And it's usually the first thing we notice before anybody speaks. And we can kind of feel the energies emitted off of certain people's bodies. Like I'm pretty sure we've all been around somebody you can feel the negative energies emitting off their body. You feel very uncomfortable.

You'd be a little nervous around these people. You know what I'm saying? You can feel these things.

Another example, people with high confidence, it's not uncommon to feel their but like their confident energy exuding off their body kind of onto you sometimes.

And usually when you're around them for so long, their energy kind of rubs off on you. Just being around them, you feel more confident. Also a little bit more outspoken, also you feel you just feel more uplifted being around this person.

I go a little deeper into this in a recent video, y'all should go check it out. And there are so many people and forms of media that are beautiful examples to those kinds of things. So let me provide you with some examples. And please, don't forget to like, comment, and subscribe.

But one of the most notable and influential being Michael Jackson is one of if not the best examples when it comes to talking about poses and movement as a whole. You could try to compare him to an Usher, Chris Brown, or even a Bruno Mars, but I don't think any of them can match the same swag that MJ had.

But I isn't to downplay these people, you know what I'm saying? They have very cool and compelling movements as well. But I'm going to tell you why Michael's movements were so captivating.

Because I think people that know how to pose and move have very similar understanding. Similar to Michael, they understand that movement is more than just dancing, but a physical expression of someone's thoughts and emotions.

Like for example, one of the reasons he blew up so young was because he was able to portray such complex emotions at such a young age in his music. And that same thing goes for movement. The more truth and expression you're able to put into your movements, the more your movements will look captivating. And I'm sure he understood that.

"What's going through your mind when you're dancing?" "I'm not thinking. Thinking is the biggest mistake a dancer could make. You have to feel."

But something that should be mentioned in terms of theatrical movement, what I said earlier does matter. But practice does matter as well. But I think that only applies if you really want your movements and poses to look extremely polished and perfect.

Cuz look, you could do a lot of Michael's moves and actually do them correctly, but still look like a straight burger because you didn't perfect it. Some things just come with some refinement.

Now, there's a very important piece of media that needs to be in this video because you can't talk about poses and movement without mentioning one very crucial portrayal of that very thing.

Now, I personally think JoJo has some of the best references for poses, especially since posing and movement is such an important part of the show. Cuz I honestly think the show would be a little buns if it didn't have that aspect, too.

But the reason why everyone loves the poses and movements in JoJo so much is because of how exaggerated and occasionally unnecessary they are.

But the exaggeration is so important, and that's what gives it its charm. Cuz I think people love seeing things completely out of the norm because not only is it intriguing, but it's inspiring, as well.

I think it's very similar to how people will show a video game outfit or any kind of fictional outfit and be like, "Oh, I wish I could wear that in real life." Or I wish I could wear this without being judged. And I think that's because a lot of people desire to express themselves truly without any form of judgment. And watching a show like JoJo and being engaged with it is almost like living through these characters.

But JoJo is just one example, but honestly the most popular example. There are so many other anime that are good references for poses and movements, like Soul Eater, Code Geass.

But something that should be mentioned is that JoJo has a lot of unique poses. And we cannot brush past the fact that a lot of those poses are inspired from real-world models.

I would argue it's undeniable, aside from facial appearance, that two of the most important things are your walk and pose. Why? Because clothes itself isn't what gives the sale, it's the body. Because that's what gives the clothes the presence, life, and perspective.

Because look, there can be two people wearing the exact same outfit. But the one who has the better walk, pose, stance, or any kind of movement is I'm just going to say has looks superior because their outfit looks more put together because those things are enhancing the outfit and them as well.

Look man, some people are like, "Oh, it's really not that deep, bro." But it really is. Cuz look, you can go to a casting and literally get rejected just because your walk is a little inconsistent. Or submit some digitals and get rejected because your poses were stiff.

And look man, this is still pretty important outside of modeling. Just not as important. Look, we know it's not uncommon for runways and photo shoots to be a form of artistic expression. Of course the clothes play their part, but the abstraction of the pose and the energy the walk gives off undoubtedly brings life to the outfit.

And I also think that's one of the best ways to translate ideas and mood. Like movement art. Like dance.

Now, we touched on this part a little in the earlier parts of the video, but for this last section, I just wanted to talk about some styles of dancing that have pretty cool moves. Break dancing. Every freeze, power move, and spin all put the body in an unstable position. But despite the instability, everything is controlled. And that's what makes this style of dancing so beautiful.

But despite them looking chaotic, they're not. And that's not even to mention the strength required to do a lot of the moves in break dancing.

And look, I'm pretty sure a lot of dance requires some level of strength, but I feel like more require more technique than strength. For break dancing, you definitely need a balance of both.

Tango. The way the dancers glide across the floor then a sudden stop and pivots make the dance very compelling. And a lot of the beauty comes from how close the dancers are to each other. Cuz even the slightest shift in movement can completely change the entire flow of the dance.

Wacking. Or waking, man, I really don't know. But this dance low-key looks a little random. It's like their arms are flailing everywhere. But I think this is a pretty cool style. Mainly because these awkward positions or poses they tend to get into look pretty cool. And everything is very quick and explosive.

But what I think really makes it stand out is how expressive it is. And as I said earlier, expression through movement always tends to be very eye-catching.

That is the end of this video, y'all. Man, I appreciate y'all boys and girls for watching it. You know nobody said there were girls in my last video. I assume there were girls watching, so I appreciate y'all for watching, too.

But yes, no sir, I appreciate y'all for watching again, man. And always remember, purpose is evolution.
