We're standing in honor of this book that we're going to be judged out of. I beseech you, brethren, you know the house of Stephanus that it is the first fruits of Ai and that they have addicted themselves to the ministry of the saints. [Music] They have addicted themselves to the ministry of the saints. Let's read a couple of more verses there. Paul's going to explain this that you submit. He said this ministry of the saints, I'm asking that you submit yourself also and to everyone that helpeth with us and labor. I want you all to get addicted to the ministry of the saints. Verse 17. I'm glad for the coveting of Stephanus and Fortunis and Achius, but that which was lacking on your part, they have supplied. God bless you. You can be seated. Right where you're seated, would you lift your hands and ask the Holy Ghost, ask the Holy Ghost to speak in this house today in Jesus name. Jesus, dear Lord, I'm asking you to speak to our hearts, our minds, our spirits. talk to us in this house today in the precious name of Jesus. We need your word in this place in Jesus name. In Jesus name. Now what I'm going to attempt to preach to you today, I preached as an evangelist for almost a decade. Um that I preached this message everywhere I went. I felt like it was one of the most important messages that I preached to churches. I am a little shocked that I've been moved on so strongly by the Holy Ghost to preach this in a first service. We have a lot of guests here. To every guest, we're so thankful. You've honored us by being here. Thank you for being here. Every guest that's here, [Applause] we're grateful that you're in the house of the Lord today. This may be one of the most important messages that I have preached to this church to date. Almost 30 years of being here. This might be most the most important message. Now, I've not preached this message in years because it's not been needed. But with our growth, many of you have not heard some of the fundamental messages and preaching and teaching that I've done that has caused this church to be what it is. That has developed the nature and the chemistry that makes up Pine Grove Pentecostal Church, the culture of this church. And so I'm going to attempt to talk to you today. I'm asking you to I'm asking you to pay attention today. I'm asking you to to um Well, I'll just tell you, when I was younger, I'd have said something about it. As I've got older, I've gotten more tolerant. I'm a I'm in grandpa mode now as a pastor. And I'm just telling you while I've been preaching of late, there's a whole lot of people on their phones and no, you're not taking notes. You're on Facebook. Um, a whole lot of talking. Some of y'all just hold just turn sideways in your pew and hold full conversations the whole time I preach. You know, all that is u all that's shooting yourself in the foot, man. Why come to church if you're not going to come to church? If you going to do something else while you get here, why come? And so, let's let's pay attention u to the preaching of the word. Also, I outlined some of the things that I would preach today in the in the prayer room. Man, I don't want to I don't want to hurt y'all's feelings. I made some bold statements in the prayer room. Uh not to hurt anybody's feelings or to to to get anybody upset, but to tell you how important church is. Yeah. And church has got to be about church has got to be about others and not about me. You you get more out of it when you're others conscious. You get way more out of church when you and there there should become a shift. U there there should come a shift in living for God. What does that mean? And it means that the first few years that you have the Holy Ghost, you're a babe in Christ and you respond like a babe in Christ. You're the one receiving the bottle. You're the one receiving the nourishment. You're the one being carried. But somewhere after you've lived for God a few years, you should shift into another role. And that role is you become very conscious of others. Yeah. Now hear me out. You become others conscious. Everything that you do concerning the church has the focus of others on it. You start coming to church for other people. And you receive your greatest miracles. You receive your greatest help when you see people that you're helping receive their miracle. You get more bang for your buck. You get you get more out of the situation. You get to see great miracles take place. And the reason that you do is because when they receive your miracle, you realize you received yours. Yeah. And so you become you come to church for other people. Now, I don't want to bog this down, so I'm going to move quickly, but hear me out. This is this is vital. It is vital that you understand that all this is not a spiritual component. There's many many natural components to coming to church. And when you try to totally spiritualize it, you lose out. Two things I want to say before I move on. The first one is is the people that still continue to come to church for themselves is going to live out their years of living for God miserable. You see when you when you focus on others all of a sudden other stuff stops mattering. Yeah. What does that mean? Well, let's type it to a hospital. If your if your child is in a cancer hospital and being helped, let's say that you've got a five-year-old, they're dying of cancer. They have no hope. They've been given no hope for to live. You've put them in a cancer institute. You're there in the waiting room and you find out that great help is being done to that child. All of a sudden, there's hope for life. All of a sudden, the blood counts are turning around. They're coming out and they're telling you, "This cancer is reversing. Not only have we stopped it, but it's receding. It looks like within a few months that your child's going to have a total another diagnosis. We It looks like it that this child we're going to make this child cancer free. We're saving this child's life. Let me just ask you this. Are you interested at that point? How important is it whether the waiting room is 69° or 79°? Does that even matter to you? You know, somebody that can't come to church because it's a little too warm or it's a little too cool. You've got what's called spiritual narcissism. You're not interested in anybody but you. Same scenario. If your child's getting help, they're reversing your child's cancer. They're saving your child's life. Help me. Help me. You're not going to go to the nurses station and say, "You know, the music's playing just a little too loud in the waiting room. Could you turn it down, please?" You know what you're going to say? I I don't care if they blare Led Zeppelin. My child is getting a miracle in there. [Applause] You know, this coffee sure is weak in this waiting room, man. They just making it like colored water. I I just don't know if I'm going to come sit down here anymore. Come on. Well, you must not have a child in the waiting room. I mean, in the in the in the intensive care ward because when you have a child in the intensive care ward, it does all of a sudden it doesn't matter what the coffee is like. It don't matter how loud the music's being played. It doesn't matter the temperature in the waiting room. All all of that becomes way down on your list of priorities when you got a child receiving a miracle in the intensive care unit. You see, when that's what you're hung up on, the preacher preaches too hard. The sermons are too blunt. I don't like the lights. Boy, what they doing these contraptions on there? There's a mess going on up here. Music's too loud. They turn that music down. All right, y'all notice how hot it is. Everybody fanning. What's the deal? Why don't you turn on to turn the air up or down, whatever is applicable. When when people are hung up on those kind of complaints, they don't reveal that there's problems at the church. They revealed they hadn't got a dog in the hunt. They've got no investment. Because when you when you've got a child that was on drugs and now they're set free, when you got a Bible study you've been teaching and now they're up on the front row and they're about to get the Holy Ghost. Man, when miracles are happening for people that you care about in the altar, all of a sudden, lights and music and all that stuff, uh, none of that's an importance anymore. [Music] You know, I'm going to move on in my message, but you you find this in the in the word of God. They were complaining about Jesus. They were complaining about Jesus being an impostor and his disciples and all that was going on. And they had a lot of complaints about Jesus and how how he was running his ministry. That's right. You know, I just wouldn't want to be in that camp. Would you always complaining about the church? That's just not the camp I want to be found in. But they asked the wrong person. They accosted the wrong individual. They actually got a hold of someone that had received a miracle and he just shut them down. He said, "I don't know all this stuff, all these complaints you got. All I know is once I was blind and now I see." So what does all that other stuff matter? [Applause] I'm not coming to church because I need to be a cool 72 degrees. I'm not coming to church because the the the music's too loud or too soft. [Music] I'll just find me another place to sit or wear some earplugs. Yeah. I'm I'm not coming to church because of all the contraptions on the platform. You know what? What I want to know is not whether my 60 or 70 year old self likes it or not. Yeah. What I want to know is what my daughter or granddaughter's getting out of it. Because they're not ministering to my generation anymore. Yeah. They're not ministering to my generation anymore. Man, if it's if it's thrilling my kids, let's roll with it. As long as the truth's being preached, the gospel's being preached, and it's setting my kids on fire. Let's roll. Am I making sense to anybody here? So, you've got the scripture text. It's 12:50. I better hurry. Paul says, "I'm thankful for the coming of Stephanus and Fortunis and Aki. They have addicted themselves to the ministry of the saints." You see, we've got a culture in America where people go to church one hour for themselves. They go for what they can hear. Yeah. for what they can get out of it. They're there one hour and they go home. And church is about them. And they're on the board and if they like what's going on, everything's cool. If they don't like what's going on, there's going to be board meetings and they're going to change it to affect what they like. Yeah. They're in control. They control the church. And this culture has spread. See, the the the worst thing you can do is try to bring your Baptist or your Methodist or your Church of Christ or your Catholic or whatever your background is, whatever religion you came out of to drag that concept into the Pentecostal church. This isn't a denominal church. We don't have operate like First Baptist. We don't operate like the Methodists, the Presbyterians, or anybody else. Yeah. This is a this is a different kind of church. And so what you don't want to do is is is drag what you came out of, man. If it was right, why'd you leave? If that was the way to do it, why are you here? [Applause] leave that behind. There's a different motive, a different reason, a different way to come to church in the apostolic movement. So he said, he said there's something that was missing that these guys have brought. They had have addicted themselves, listen to ministry. Yes. Now, we need to talk about this because the the Catholic Church set this up and it and it infiltrated all other religions that came out of Catholicism. And that is that the ministry, the five-fold ministry is way up here somewhere. Come on, talk about we honor them. We obey them. We do what the ministry says. And then the saints are down here somewhere. Yeah. And they don't have any other rule ro role except just to come to church. Yeah. All they do is just come to church. Y'all all paying attention? Stay with me now. So you've got the ministry And then you got the saints. And you've got this big gap between the two. Now, are y'all with me? That gap is why churches don't grow. The only one authorized to do anything is the preacher. Preacher, I got somebody sick at my work. Could you please pray for them? Well, why don't you pray for them? Come on, pastor. So, so and so's in the hospital. You You think you could find time to go over to Jackson? Why don't you go pray for him? We're going to come up here and be anointed with oil. P. Well, I don't want them praying for me. Get Get pastor over here to pray for me. And we're going to baptize somebody. We need the pastor to baptize them. There there is a listen to me. There is a point that if a church is going to continue to grow that everything can't be bottlenecked and ran through one man. [Applause] If the pastor's the only one that can preach, and the pastor's the only one that can teach, and the pastor's got to make every hospital visit, and the pastor's got to pastor everybody that gets baptized, and the pastor's got to teach every Bible study. Oh, but it's because he's the pastor. Yeah. Then your church will cap out at 100 people. If he's a super pastor, it may grow to 200. And then that's the end of it. Because you don't have Jesus religion. Yeah. You have preacher religion. [Applause] And insecure preachers like that. They like being set up like that. They like being the only one that can pray for everybody. Oh, somebody needs to be baptized. I'll be right there. Yeah. Insecure preachers like it. Saints like it, but it couchs the church off. The church can't grow beyond his insecurity. But Paul said, "I'm thankful for the coming of Stephanus and Atheist and Fortunice, and I hope you learn from them that there is a ministry of saintthood. There is a ministry that the saint should get involved in. There is a ministry that every Holy Ghost fil person needs to realize. I have a ministry in my church. There is a ministry of saintthood." Yeah. Now, I don't have time to get into all this, but God has a fivefingered hand in the church. Yeah. That's he how he operates the church. And I do not want to take away from honor of the ministry. I'm trying to separate the difference between the ministry and a ministry. There is the five-fold ministry that must be in the church. Let's look at that right quick. Ephesians 4 11 and 12. Let's look at Ephesians 4 11 and 12 right quick. And he gave some apostles and some prophets and some evangelists and some pastors and teachers. Now, what is their job? For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the Bible body of Christ. Now, listen to me. I'm not saying that preachers shouldn't do it, especially at different levels. When you're starting a daughter work or you're starting out a new church or or something like that, you had got a lot of people in the church. Sometimes pastors just have to do what's got to be done until the church grows. But I don't I don't see witnessing in that list. I don't see teaching Bible studies in that list. The ministry has one job. Take the people that are already filled with the Holy Ghost. Take the people that are already on the pew and take them to the next level. [Applause] There is a lot of things that there's a lot of pressure that Christianom put on the pull pit, right? That shouldn't be the obligation of the pull pit. It should be where the saints are getting their joy. Show me a person that's griping about the church and I'll show you a person that's not winning souls. Show me a person that's winning souls and I'll show you a person that hadn't got a problem with the church. Bottom line, it's always that way. You know what your problem is? You need to get busy. If you'd get busy, you wouldn't have all that time to think about all that stuff. All right. You know, there's there's nothing crankier than an old retired couple that's sitting around looking out the window. Because they got plenty of time to sit around and think about everything they don't like. Right? But if they get busy, all of a sudden, all that stuff they're worried about would start just dissipating and going away. It's not that the world would change. It's that they wouldn't have time to focus on it. And all a saints got to do is come and sit on that pew. They got plenty of time to think about everything they don't like about the church. But if they would get busy teaching a Bible study, if they get busy winning somebody to Christ, listen, you don't gripe about the hospital that you're running a cancer patient to. You know, while you're headed there, you're not tearing that hospital down because that's the hope. If you are there, something's wrong with you. Don't take them to that hospital. Well, it's quiet. You see, the work of the ministry is for the perfecting of the saints. The reason that some churches can't grow is because the pastor's doing what the saints are supposed to be doing and nobody's doing what the pastor is supposed to be doing. If the saints will get busy winning the souls, then the pastor can perfect those that are already there. And the church can just go from glory to glory to glory because that pastor can focus on taking that church to higher levels while they're reaching the lost, teaching Bible studies, filling the pews up. This is important because we have the view. We have the view because we got it from the denominal world that the pullpit is supposed to preach such a message. He's supposed to craft such a message that it pulls those sinners out of that pew and drags them to an altar. And that is not biblical. That's ta evangelism. That's what radio preaching has produced. That thought, that concept that the preacher is supposed to get up there and he's supposed to he's supposed to preach such a tearjerker. He's supposed to have such a story. He's supposed to close that message with car wrecks and decapitations. Now hear me. He's supposed to preach such a message that's supposed to preach such conviction in the pew. Yeah. Then it draws those sinners to the altar while the saints sit out there and balance their check book and click their fingernails. Well, I brought brought so and so to church and the preacher didn't get him. I don't know what was wrong with him tonight. He just Man, I brought brought somebody church. He preached on tithing. I I I want everybody to hear me. When a church gets the concept of the ministry of the saints, it won't matter anymore what the preacher preaches. It won't matter what his subject is. It won't matter how he gives the altar call. Because let me tell you, I'm going to establish before this message is over tonight that it's not the preaching that draws them out of the pew. It's Holy Ghost still saints that their response pushes them. It's not the job of the preacher to pull them. It's the job of Holy Ghost fil saints to push them. [Applause] And see, we have a Christianom that says the only job you got to sit out there. But that's not apostolic. And I'm going to go through the Bible and show it to you. That your job is to come to church and to think about everything you do when you walk through those doors with it in your mind. How is this going to affect the sinners that are there? How's this going to affect the guests that need to be touched? How's this going to affect the people down the pew from me? There's the ministry and there's a ministry of saints. Are y'all with me? It's 104. I got to hurry. There are many other ways to be in ministry than just the five-fold ministry. You see, the problem that we got is everybody that feels a draw toward the ministry immediately wants a pull pit. Well, I I feel a call of the ministry. When you going to let me preach, preacher, when are you going to win a soul, saint? When you going to teach a Bible study? When are you going to come to church for someone other than you? Ask not what the church can do for you, but ask what you can do for the lost that are sitting on the pews. [Applause] You see, a love for the pull pit don't make up a make up for the loss of a love for souls. A love for the pull pit self- serving. No one really wants to hear a preacher that's never won a soul. Wow. Winning the lost and having a love for the lost is the qualification to be in the ministry. No one goes into the ministry without first going through the boot camp, the training, the proving ground of having a ministry in the church. No church can be successful without a ministry of saintthood. What does that mean? It means outreach. It means witness. It means intercessory prayer. It means being faithful to the prayer room. Well, it's quiet, but that's okay. Now, let's look let let's look at a few things here. Let me let me let me let me speed ahead in my notes since we're out of time. All right. Satan's desire whenever someone visits an apostolic church. Don't you know Satan's involved in it? He don't mind them visiting. He just cares what church they visit. He don't mind them visiting. He just wants to strategically place them when they visit. Now, think about this with me. Are y'all following me? When a guest that needs the Holy Ghost or needs a miracle in their life comes to church, he's going to make sure they sit by the dead heads. Come on. Now, this message was developed. Listen to me, y'all. Stay with me. Okay, I've got I've got my foundation built. Now, I'm going to preach. This message was developed from almost a decade of evangelizing. And watching where people sit when they visit church. Yeah. You know, once I've been there about a week or two weeks as an evangelist, I get so upset where the guests sit because they're going to come in and sit by the worst possible people they could sit around. Because listen to me, the truth of the matter is is every one of us are sending out energy. Yeah, that's right. Every one of us have an electrical field around us. Every one of us, we affect the people that sit around us. This is what this is what kids or teachers know in a school classroom. That's why all of a sudden you'll go to class one day and the teacher says, "You're going to sit over here. You're not sitting over there anymore." You know why? Because you were a good kid and you were a good student till you sit by them. You don't think that's important in church? It is. What happens to a guest when they come in to church and they sit down beside someone that never says amen, never raises a hand, clips their fingernails while the preacher's preaching, balances their checkbook while the choir is singing. Yeah. You know what you've done to them? Your your your your aura, your atmosphere. This is why the listen to me. This is why the Bible says quench not the spirit. It is an order. Quen, if you've got the Holy Ghost, you have no business quenching the spirit. I don't care. I don't mean to be unkind, but people that are easily offended are selfish. You You can't get offended if you got a dog in the hunt. If you're interested in what goes on that service, you set a fence outside the door or you bring it to the altar. But you don't let it affect the way you come to church. Because you understand when I walk through those doors, I have a ministry I've got to perform in. I've got to have a ministry I I've got to operate in. I got a job to do while I'm in that church house. [Applause] It's not up to the preacher. It's not up to the preacher to reach all the way back there. three rows from the back and put a hook in somebody's jaw and reel them in. Mother [Applause] [Music] man, you're the reason your church don't grow is you're expecting the preacher to do something with one fishing rod that we ought to be doing with a net. [Applause] How would it change things? My Lord have mercy. Let me let me let me tell you something. I was evangelizing with Tim Copelan. be seated. I'm not trying to indicate that he didn't know what he was doing. That's not the deal. I But I want to use a story as an illustration. I was traveling with him. I was 13 years old. 1981. Now you can add up know how old. I know I don't look that old. when he'd give the alt to call every service that I I I wasn't I wasn't planning it. I I don't know what it was. I mean, I'd heard those all those sermons at the last place we preached. I guess I just believed it, man. He'd get to preaching those me. He'd give that altar call and I was the first one. I'd jump up and run. I couldn't wait for him to give that altar call. Man, I was under conviction. I'd be the first one in the altar before he would give could even get finished. I'd run to the altar. I'd just be heaving, boohooing on. He was truly preaching me in the altar every service. And he finally one night when we got back to the evangelist court, he said, "Man, you got to quit that. These people are going to think that that this is a setup. I mean, my nephew, the guy traveling with me, runs to the altar as soon as I give the altar call every service." I said, "I can't help it, Uncle Tim. I can't help it. But think about that. Think if the pastor literally had agents in the pews. Yeah. Think if he literally had people all across that congregation that was on board, that had as much of a burden for that altar call as he did. That was just as intent on people going to the altar as the pastor that was preaching. Think if there were people all in the pews that understood the ministry of the saints [Music] and they didn't come to church thinking the music was to entertain them. They didn't come to church thinking the music had to fit their genre. Man, how selfish can it be to look around a church that's got as many people in this building does and think that all the singing is supposed to thrill you? Man, what does it matter if it's working? I'm more interested in the people that are being filled with the Holy Ghost than what I like. Man, if it's working, get after it. [Applause] Man, can I Oh, Lord have mercy. Can I somehow get you out of your cranium? Get get you out of your spiritual narcissism and get you to come to church understanding. [Applause] [Music] [Applause] This is not an entertainment venue. This isn't a concert. Can I tell you what this really is? This is a war. This is a war room. This is a battlefield where we are fighting for people's souls. It's not about the temperature. It's not about the air conditioning. It's not about the music. It's not about the lights. It's about the fact that somebody needs the Holy Ghost. And if it's working, let's roll with it. [Applause] Come on. There is a ministry of the saintthood where when people walk in that back door, they understand I don't feel like worshiping tonight, but that ain't what it's about. I hate to be so bold, but I've been Man, I've been pastoring here for almost 30 years. Do you literally think that every Tuesday night that I walk in this place and every Sunday night that I walk in this place that me and my wife have just gotten alone famously that day? Can I be so bold as to tell you at least one Tuesday night we fought all the way to church. I'm just telling you I don't mean to I mean, we've You can't count the times that we've had Well, I don't need There's been a time or two that we just had to call a truce in that office up there and say, "All right, we're not going to say no, no more about it. Let's go to the prayer room. We'll pick this up when we come back in this office. You know why? Because I'm not out here to entertain you. I'm out here because I cannot count the times, you listen to me. I cannot count the times that I preach people the last sermon they ever heard. I can't count the times that I preached people the last message they ever heard. I can't count the times that people were weighing being weighed in the balance. That that service was the service that mattered and I didn't need to bring a fuss or an argument or a disagreement to the pull pit and say, "Well, well, you know, I'll just get through it tonight because you know, if you're a Holy Ghost fil believer, when you walk through those back doors, there's one thing you understand, and that's I'm walking into a battlefield and I have a job on that battlefield. I have a ministry. Somebody's soul is being fought over. And they may be the ones sitting by me. Somebody's soul is being fought for. Satan is laying a trap for somebody that's at church. And they may be sitting behind me or in front of me. There's not one service that I can just sat with my arms folded. There's not one service that I can selfishly salt. [Applause] [Music] Deuteronomy chapter 27 and verse14. Deuteronomy 27 and 14. Deuteronomy 27:14 says, "And the Levite shall speak, and shall say unto all the men of Israel with a loud voice, cursed be the man that maketh any grave an image mo or molt an image, an abomination unto the Lord, the work of the hands of the craftsman, and putteth in his secret place." And here's the key right here, and I'm not going to read you through it, but they do this over and over and over through the reading of the law. and all the people shall answer and say, "Amen." Did you know that amen is not a luxury? Amen. It's a commandment. When the preacher's preaching, it is a commandment. And all the people shall say, "Amen." [Music] It's not something you just do if you want to. It's not something you just do as you're thrilled. If you're thrilled, you do it because there's someone around you that you're ministering to. [Applause] And if you sit there silently and don't say a word, they're going to sit there silently and don't feel like they have to respond either. [Applause] But if you're responding while the preacher's preaching, they get caught up in the wave of it. You're ministering to them. Something's happening. [Applause] Next thing you know, down down there nodding their head. Next thing you know, they're down there saying amen under their breath. You're your ministry. They're getting caught up on the wave of what's going on. There's energy and there's synergy going on in that service. You know how the devil's created denominal churches? The devil's created denominal churches to where the min the minister has to minister pe to people in spite of who's sitting around them. It shouldn't be that the preacher's trying to reach someone sitting around you in spite of you. [Music] The Bible says that a wise woman builds her house and a foolish woman plucks it down with her own hands. And I do not believe for a minute that's that talking about the 1% of idiots in this world that literally work against what's going on. Nothing plucks down more houses than just unconcerned. Nothing plucks down more houses than apathy. Houses don't wind up in divorce. Homes don't wind up in divorce. Kids don't wind up on on death row. Kids don't wind up on drugs because kid parents send them there. They wind up there because of apathetic parents that are wrapped up in their own life and not ministering to their own children and churches don't collapse and churches don't have problems because of saints that literally want to destroy their churches. It's general apathy that overtakes a congregation where people forget the reason they're going to church and they forget the job that they have when they go to church and they forget the reason they should be faithful. [Applause] One of the things that upsets me more than anything is someone that'll work on somebody, work on somebody, work on somebody, come to church, and the very service they visit, the person that's been inviting them ain't even there. You know, if they're in the funeral home or the hospital, that's one thing. Well, I just didn't feel good tonight. I I hope it works out, man. I've been working on them a long time. Well, didn't you know that Satan would have you not feeling good the very night that your guest was going to show up? Don't you understand that's how it works? that you're not going to be there when you're needed most. You know what? Apathy's on you. You're not realizing that you have a job. You have a ministry as a saint of God. Saints have a ministry in the church house. Yes, they do. They have a ministry. Yeah. You know what? Worship worship is not just contagious. It's necessary. Man, if you have a hol if you're a Holy Ghost fil believer and you're a and you're a part of Pine Grove Pentecostal Church, you you have no right just to sit on that pew when the music starts. Somebody said, "Well, I'm older, Brother Copeland. I have trouble with my knees. I have trouble with my back." Do you have so much trouble you can't do this right here? Do you have so much back trouble that you can't do that? Hey, hey, half mask to work. Just halfway up. just anything to let the people sitting around you and the devil know I'm far what's going on. I'm behind what's taking place. I'm a part of what's happening in this place. [Applause] No one has a right. No one has a right in the If you're a Holy Ghost still believer, you don't have a right when the altar calls given to stay in the pew. Come on. [Music] I'm going to say it again. [Music] If you're a Holy Ghost fililled person that has a burden for people to be saved, you don't have a right just to sit back there when the altar calls given. Why is that? Well, what do you think's going to happen to the guests that are sitting around you? What do you think's going to happen to the person that needs the Holy Ghost that's sitting in your vicinity vicinity? You know what happens when somebody comes that needs the Holy Ghost? The devil's telling them, "You don't have to go to that altar. You can go some other time. Don't go right now. Don't go tonight. Don't go on this service. Don't go on this afternoon. You can go that man. You can go next time you come. You don't have to go today." And they look around them and people start getting up and going to the altar. and they think to themselves, "Man, I'm going to have to go. It looks like I'm going to have to go. I'm going to be sitting back here by myself. It looks like everybody's going to get up, go to the altar, and they look over." Yeah. And some old gay-headed saint. Yeah. Somebody that they recognize as a member of the church, Yeah. just folds their arm, leans back on the pew, and decides they ain't going. And they say, "Man, I thought there for a minute I was going to have to go to that altar. You working for Satan's team or the church? What side are you on? Are you for us or hell? You have a ministry as a saint of God in this church. And your ministry is
To worship with all that your physical body will allow you to do. My God have mercy. Your your your obligation as a Holy Ghost filled believer in your ministry is to say amen and jump up while the preacher's preaching with all that your physical body will allow you to do. Hey, if your physical body won't allow you, then you don't do it. But if you Hey, can you at least say amen? Can you at least wave a hand?
[Applause] It's your ministry. You're ministering to people around you.
[Applause] You can be seated. I've seen people do the craziest things in church. Bring someone to church. Bring someone to church. Claim they're worried about their soul and then let them play with their baby while the preacher's preaching. Man, if you bring somebody church and you want to be saved, don't hand them your baby. If they reach for it, make an excuse. The pull pit can't reach them if they're play playing with your child. Watch your children in church, man. If they're cutting up and disturbing other people, do like my daddy used to do. Man, it's a wonder my ears don't stick out like a Volkswagen with the doors open going down the road. I got that so many times in church. And I see I I I I'm not trying to be unkind, but but this is serious business.
When you understand we're fighting for people's souls, you know what God's going You know what the devil's going to do? You know what the enemy is going to do? He's going to make sure the one person that that message is for is focused on on some child that's got their own circus going on.
[Music] And I've seen parents just oh just oh just just get lost in the Holy Ghost cuz they think church is for them. They don't know church is for that lost person. That's watching their child turn the front row into a side show. Please hear what I'm preaching. Please don't get offended at me. Please love the church and love the gospel and love souls enough to hear the burden of your pastor today. Please understand there's something more important than your feelings. There's something more important than your dance. There's something more important. Souls are at stake. The future of the church is at stake. The future of the kingdom is at stake.
Man, there's things you can do if you'll think about it. There's things you can do if it's on your mind. If you bring a guest to church, don't set them inside. You move in, put them on the outside. Why is that? Because when the altar calls given, it's a lot easier to push them than it is to pull them. Yeah. See, you've already got forward momentum going on. You just wrap your arm around and say, "Hey, let's go to the altar. Come to the altar with me." That's a lot easier than do you want to go to the altar with me. They're going to say no. But if you're behind them pushing them, you don't ask them. You say, "Hey, come on. Let's go to the altar. You already in front of me. Let's just go down there. Let's go together." They hadn't got a chance to say no.
There's strategic things you can do if you will stop viewing church as some place where you go and hear music and hear a sermon and you start understanding I am a warrior on a battlefield and all around me I'm I'm about to close but if you if you knew if you knew what hell the targets that hell had setting on these first three rows and I'm I'm not trying to hurt people's feelings. I said something in the in the in the in the prayer room and if I man if I hurt anybody it was accidental. I didn't do it on purpose. But I'm telling you the most targeted the most targeted people in any church is the young people between 13 and married. That is the age group that the devil has all most of his arsenal f focused at. We shouldn't have people in that age group sitting back in the back of the church. And I'm not suggesting you have to move right now. But I've instructed our our youth staff and our college and career staff. I've told them, I said, "You you look around. If there if we got kids in the youth group, college and career sitting toward the back, you move them up here to the front. And if you have to tap a a young couple on the on the shoulder and say, "Hey, would you would you make room and move so our young people can have these first few rows?" Hey, we'll do it. We we'll we'll move. We'll we'll we'll strategically make sure our young people are in the front of the church. That's where they ought to be sitting. Young people shouldn't sit in the back. Why? Because Lucifer's after them. Hell's after them. It's important where they sit. It's important where they sit.
And I and I want to say it one more time. If you a Holy Ghost still believer, you can't come in here and sit on these pews a victim to your emotions. You got to make up in your mind, I got a ministry to do while I'm at church. No Holy Ghost fililled saint that that's a member of a ship of a church should miss the prayer room. That's where you put your armor on. Man, if you're a Holy Ghost fililled believer and a member of the church, man, part of your obligation as a saint is to be in that prayer room. Why Why would you teach your kids that the prayer room isn't important? Why would you teach them anything that's the opposite of what their pastor's teaching them? Man, if the prayer room wasn't important, I could spend that la next 30 minutes or an hour working on my message. If it wasn't important, I wouldn't be there, man. You think I got 30 minutes every service to to to go to the prayer room? I I I could use that 30 minutes doing something else, but nothing is more important. Nothing Nothing is more important than that prayer room. And you have a ministry as the saints. If you're a Holy Ghost fil believer, you ought to be there. Yeah. Why is it? That's where you put your armor on. That's where you get your direction. You know what to do when you get out here. Man, I don't just pray in there. I I I stop I stop the prayer room and give direction to the saints. You know what to do when you get in these pews. If you could start viewing yourself as a soldier with a ministry and this is a war field. Every time we walk into this building, we're going to war.
I'm closing. Musicians, come please. I was preaching in this state. In fact, preaching in this state and there was a person there I was reaching for. Actually, it was a couple that I was reaching for. And man, I'd preach, done everything I could to reach for them and listen to me. They had tears rolling down their cheeks. They were very moved. And I said to myself, man, when I give this altar call, they're coming. I had everybody stand. I was going to end my message. As I was ending, a saint's child about three years old sitting in front of him had brought a little place double barrel shotgun to church. And right when I had everybody stand and I was given the appeal to come to the altar, that boy turned around with that shotgun said, "Hands up. You're under arrest." And those people started laughing and immediately all conviction was gone. And they walked out those back doors and never came back to that service.
Now, I'm I'm just going to tell you if if what I'm preaching is not the most important message that I've ever preached in this church, then explain to me what the writer is talking about in Matthew 18:6. And I won't take time to go there, but three of the four gospels quote this verse verbatim. Three of the four gospels write this same passage. Matthew chapter 18 and verse six. If the media team will help me, please. I want you I want you to look at this. It what it says is
[Music] that if you but who so shall offend one of these little ones which believed in me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck and he were drowned in the depth of the sea. You'd be better off. You'd be better off if you caused someone to be lost to tie a millstone around your neck and just throw yourself out of a boat. Your fate will be better. I I hope that I've never convinced someone to go the wrong direction in the middle of a church service.
[Music] And and most of it is not not something that someone would do on purpose. It's they do without thinking it. More con danger can be done in carnality. Man, I've been reaching for people in this very build. I've had it happen in this very building. I've been reaching for someone. I'd have someone in my target and reaching for them. And man, I'd be working overtime to get them in an altar. And I say, "Let's all stand. I'm going to give the altar call." And some well-meaning saint in that moment go out of their pew. And on their way out, grab them and shake their hand ra tell tell them something funny. And they laugh and out the back door they go. And it's over. everything I've worked for up to that point is finished. And they go out there and go to the bathroom, whatever they're going to do, never understanding that they may have just taken away the last conviction that that person will ever feel, the last call to the altar call that that person will ever get. And they laughed it off. Are you understanding the seriousness of what I'm talking to you about right now? And they never know. And I'm up here preaching, trying to give the altar call, and I think to myself, they just ended it. They just ruined it. His stroke is so strategic.
[Music] You know what it's like? It's like being down on one knee. tears and emotion. You're just about to ask that girl to marry you and her cell phone rings and the moment's ruined. It's over with. That's the same thing that happens in a church service. You know, someone that understands the ministry of the saints would never go out the back door during an altar call. Man, go out while I'm preaching. Go out after everybody. If you just got to go out, go out after everybody's down around these altars. But going out the back door when the altar call's given is not the time to do that. Why is that? Because you've got someone standing there that's trying to make their decision. Am I going to go to that altar or am I not?
[Music] Am I going to go pray or am I going to leave this place? What am I going to do? Am I going to repent tonight or am I going to run out that back door? And they look around and everybody's moving toward the altar. Y'all with me? Everybody's moving toward the altar and that that that draw, that pull is pulling them.
[Music] And then some saint that they don't want to send anybody to hell. They're not they're not working for the enemy. They don't think. But yet they are. You see, that was the most startling thing that happened to Peter when Jesus looked at him and said, "Get behind me, Satan." Peter did not understand in his carnality that he had signed up and was working for the wrong team. All it takes for you to become the devil is to be carnal. That's all it takes. Just disengage. Just forget who you are. And so the altar calls given and you got a person white knuckling the pew in the throws of decision. Do I go to the altar or do I run? Do I go to the altar or do I go out that back door? And everybody's moving toward the altar and they think to themselves, it looks like I'm going to have to go. And then some carnal saint turn and go toward that back door. You know what that You know what that person's going to do that's thinking about going to the offer? That's all they needed. All they needed was someone in agreeance with them. And they turn and they follow you out that back door. And in that moment, you better remember Matthew 18 and6 because you just became the thing that pulled them away from the altar. And it may be the last altar call they've ever given. Man, I hope it gets quiet. I hope it gets serious because I'm talking to you about serious stuff today.
If you're filled with the Holy Ghost, you're not filled with the Holy Ghost for no reason. The Bible says that you're filled with the Holy Ghost to be a witness. What gospel are you sharing? The gospel of distraction, the gospel of going out the back door, the gospel of just sitting while the choir's singing, the gospel of just sitting while the preacher's preaching. I'm done with this. But preaching is a volley.
[Music] There's two anointings. One comes from heaven and the other comes from that those pews. You can take the best preacher in the world. He can be the best preacher in the world, but if he has an audience that's not with him, he'll be tongue tied and stumble over his words. The best, most anointed preacher in the world, cannot get liberty and cannot preach unless that crowd gives it to him. But the worst preacher in the world, the one that can't preach, if he's got a if he's got a congregation out there jumping up, saying amen, clapping and getting behind them and running down the aisle and running the aisles and slapping the pull pit, he'll preach like Paul. Because the saints have a ministry. The saints have a ministry.
I wonder who's in this audience today. I wonder who's here today that you don't know it, but this is your service. I wonder who's here today sitting by you. That this is their service. That all the angels in heaven, work with me just a minute, church. that all the angels in heaven are leaning over the altar rails or the banister rails of heaven looking at a person in this service. Can I tell you there's never a service to waste from heaven. I'm going to tell you in the Holy Ghost, there are several people in this service today that this service is about you. This entire service is designed for your miracle, for you to get what you need. And the angels of heaven are are leaned over the banister rail wondering what are they going to do? They're going to get their miracle today. I just want to ask you if they're sitting by you, have you worshiped in such a way that would have sent them the right message? Have you responded while I've preached in such a way that would give them the right message? I'm just wondering, have you carried your section like you should have? Have you been on board with everything you've got? You know, I'd hate to get I'd hate to get to judgment. And the Lord said, "You're responsible for this person's soul." And I say to myself, "Well, how am I responsible for them?" Because they sit by you in church. They'd have went to the altar if they wouldn't have sat by you. They'd have probably prayed. If they wouldn't have sat by you, they'd have probably been carried away with the sermon if they wouldn't have sat by you. But you carried them away from the cross instead of toward the cross. Oh, I didn't do anything. No, no, you really didn't. It was your lack of concern. Your lack of concern.
I'm going to close with this, but you know, if a fire alarm was go to go off in this building today, if all of a sudden a fire alarm was to start ringing just I mean just peeling the air with warning
[Music] and people started jumping up running out of this building.
[Music] Everybody in this building would start looking around to evaluate everybody else's responses.
[Music] I'm telling you, if the if the if the people that were considered leaders in this part of the building got up and left, it would clear this entire section over here. But there's people strategically sitting in this area over here that if you just folded your arms, Brother Jeffrey Val, I'm just telling you, you've been in this church 20 years. You worked here. It's easy to tell you're a part. You're you're a part. You played the bass on the platform today. If you just kind of sat there with your arms folded and didn't get up and run out, there'd be an entire section of people around you that would just keep sitting because you did.
[Music] They wouldn't leave and save themselves because they would feel like you knew more than they did. You see, if you could stand up on this platform, and I've stood here and looked toward this congregation, across this congregation, when the altar call was given, and there's some of you been in this church for years, you consider yourself members, but for whatever reason, you decide, I'm not going down around that altar. And you'd be shocked if you'd ever look around you. at the people that really need to be here that don't come because you don't. There's going to be a judgment's going to cover that.
[Music] All that's going to be taken into account because you never know when you become the deciding factor for someone's last opportunity to get free of drugs. Their last altar call that may hold their marriage and their home together. The last alter opportunity they have to have a miracle. I want to tell you, I want to realize I'm in the ministry of the saints. And it's not just that preacher in that pull pit that's got obligations in that church service. I'm carrying the weight of the people that sit around me.
Let's stand together right now and lift our hands all across this building. Come on. Would you reach out? Would you just lift your hands right now and just ask the Lord, Lord, what do you want me to take away from this message that's been preached in this place today? Come on, man. And we ought to have the most successful altar call we've ever had today. Today ought to be the day we have the most successful altar call we've ever had in this church. Come on. Come on. Let's reach out everybody. Everybody. Everybody. Everybody reaching out right now. Come on. Come on. We need the Holy Ghost to move right now in this building. I'm going to do it different than I've ever done it before. I'm asking everybody in this house, especially you who are members of this church and full of the Holy Ghost, to pray for someone around you. Find somebody and pray for them. Come on. Come on. Find somebody and pray with them. Pray with them. Pray for them. Come on. Right now. Right now. Right now. Right now. Minister to somebody around you. Come on. Minister to somebody that sits around you right now. My God, in the name of Jesus, come on, pray for him like you realize the ministry that you're a part of. Come on, pray for him like you understand the ministry that God's called you to.

And when you do come, come in close. Come in close while we open the aisles up. Come on, let's open these aisles up where everybody can get in around these altars today. Come on, come in close before we open the altars up, the other aisles up. Come on. The Holy Ghost is in this place. God wants to work a miracle for this man right here. I'm telling you, the Holy Ghost just spoke to me. God wants to work a miracle for this brother.
