In this video, discover the power of carowway seeds, the ancient spice for modern health.
These are not true seeds, but the dried fruit of carum carve, a plant in the parsley family. Native to Europe, Africa, and Asia, this biionial plant has been cultivated for millennia. One of Europe's oldest spices, its distinct pungent flavor comes from carvone and lemonine.
Rich in fiber and antioxidants, carowway is used to ease digestion and soothe intestinal muscles. Individuals with functional dyspsia or indigestion may find it helpful reducing bloating and gas.
While safe in food amounts, caraway oil can cause heartburn, belching, and skin irritation. Pregnant women and those with liver disease or scheduled for surgery should use Care Away with caution.
There's no standard serving size, but doses of 1 and 1/2 g of seeds per day have been used in research. Caraway seeds are best consumed with or immediately following a meal to aid the digestive process.
