The hustings are over; the spotlight now falls on voters across Singapore as they head to the polls tomorrow. Well, then, 2.7 million people are eligible to cast their ballots as they step forward to choose the voices that will shape the 15th parliament. And with it, the future of the nation. To walk us through the vital role each vote plays, here is some awesome shot. The rallies are done; the speeches are over. The campaigns have ended. Now it's your turn. One vote, one future. One chance to make your voice heard.
Singapore comes together across the island. More than 2.75 million voters are heading to the polls across 1300 polling stations. Thousands of officials stand ready to make sure your voting experience is secure and seamless. More than 36,000 election officers have been preparing for this moment. All to serve you, as you are the heart of democracy in action.
Now, before you leave the house, remember, you only need two things. First, your polling card—this can be the physical one or the one you’ve got on the SingPass app. Second, your original ID. Bring only your original; no copies, please.
Polling stations are open from 08:00 AM to 08:00 PM. And yes, a tip: don't have to rush first thing in the morning. Maybe it's not necessary to come first thing in the morning. It's possible to come later. What would it be? Maybe you can pace yourself because mornings usually have huge crowds. Maybe I could suggest coming during lunchtime or in the afternoon—around 05:00 PM. So that produces an evenly spread. So take your time to cast your vote. The votes will still count as long as you arrive within polling hours.
But when you reach your polling station, an election officer will verify your location and check your ID. Need assistance? No worries. Help is available for those who need it inside the station. Just remember: no photography, no smoking, no eating, and keep your phone away so we know how you cast your vote.
Step one: Verify your identity; physical or digital ID works fine. Step two: The staff will give you a ballot paper. Step three: Head to the booth and make your choice. You'll also notice something new: the marking space on the ballot paper is large this time. Any of the options used to tax them—provided it’s easy. Bring your own pen to draw your X. So for this round of elections, we have enlarged the marking space on your ballot paper. So we encourage everybody ought to vote to use the extended space. And it's very convenient; very easy to do so. Now, if you so wish to bring your own pen and cross on the ballot paper, this is fine. But just a big rule: your X belongs on the ballot paper. No signatures, no actions, no doodles. Anything else could void your vote. Then you fold the ballot paper neatly and drop it into the ballot box and leave the station.
And just like that, your part is done. One moment, one choice. Voting isn't just a right; it's a duty. Your vote is secret and it shapes Singapore's tomorrow. Both the right to vote on time and vote wisely, because your voice matters and your future depends on it.
