Hello everyone. I just picked up my Ukrainian passport with an American visa from the consulate and I want to tell you how I managed it. The first three steps are quite simple. That is to take a photo. This is possible at any photo studio, you just specify that it's for an American visa, they know all the sizes there, and that a copy is needed by email. They send it instantly. Second, fill out the application form. The form can be found on the American consulate's website. And there's nothing complicated about it. However, patience is needed. I filled it out through Safari, on a MacBook, and it took quite a lot of time because it kept kicking me out. The questions are quite simple and, I would say, general in nature. That is, you have to fill in everything about yourself, about your work, whether you have been involved in terrorist operations, whether you have any contacts in America. And I think that's all. You need to register on the Polish consulate's website, and it is in two cities. It is in Krakow and in Warsaw. I chose Krakow because I live here, and they will schedule an appointment for you there. You choose when it will be in the system. So. Regarding the interview itself, I took my passport, my residence permit card, and proof of payment with me. No other additional documents. I will honestly say that I was terribly stressed before the interview because I, uh, have never had this before. I didn't imagine how it would happen. But the main thing is, come in advance, because we had two queues and they let in a limited number of people. That is, uh, that is, the sooner you come, the sooner you will get a number and you will go inside. The interview itself went, uh, much easier than I expected, because you, uh, you give your fingerprints and approach the window. In my case, I was asked about the purpose of my trip. I said I was going for tourism. Who am I going with? I said with my husband. This was not checked. No documents confirming marital status were needed. But in American law, there is such a thing as common-law marriage. And it is considered a normal marriage. That is, when you live together and share finances. So, and it also played into my favor, because my boyfriend has an American visa, and I also clarified this. They asked about the duration of stay. And I said three weeks. And be prepared for the question why exactly that period you chose. It's about the fact that, well, they don't want you to stay there. And since I am 25 years old, I know that it is quite problematic to get a visa, because people go and don't return. And when they asked me why three weeks, I said I have a job. I believe that my knowledge of Polish played into my favor, because when you have a conversation, they offer you Polish or English. And there are representatives who speak both languages. Plus, it shows that you really want to stay in this country, which is no less important. I mentioned that I have a job here, that I have housing, a signed contract. I explained what I do. And after that, they told me to wait 5 minutes. Honestly, for me, it was an eternity. I was just standing very scared, because there were about seven, maybe, Ukrainians in front of me, and, uh, they all got rejected. So. But when this, uh, gentleman opened the window and said, "is the proof," that's it, I have a visa. Moreover, I forgot to mention that the visa price is $185. That's about 800 zlotys.
