It's Ben, and in this video, we'll be going over the latest version of the ATP 10DLC compliance registration inside of Highle.
If you've been following the ATP 10DLC compliance, you already know the carriers have been tightening the rules for SMS marketing, and 2025 brings even more changes, such as no more ATP 10DLC without an EIN and increased scrutiny on message compliance.
In this video, we will be going over three main sections. Number one, how to optimize your correct legal information. Number two, how to optimize your sites, forms, surveys, and funnels. And number three, the actual application itself. The goal is to make this process as easy and simple as possible while also sharing the template and best messaging to get you approved.
Okay, so before submitting your ATP 10DLC application, your business details must be 100% accurate and match your official business documentation. This is one of the most common reasons applications get rejected. So, it's essential to set up everything correctly inside of Grah Highle system information.
To do that, you're going to come over to your sub accounts, go to settings, go to business profile, and this is the page we're going to optimize. So, this is a dummy account with some information that I've pulled from an example that Hilo has shared. So, the information you'll need on hand is your business name, business type, the EIN, business industry, business address, and the authorized representative.
So, the first place we want to make sure is correct is the legal business name. So, this name over here needs to match the exact same name on your registered documentation. In this case, we are using the CP575 form. So you can see here at the top you'll find ABC Industries LLC. I'm going to make sure that the legal business name is exactly as it's spelled on that form.
Then you want to add your business email. This must be the actual email that is registered to your business, as well as a business phone number. Then you're going to add your business website, as well as your business niche. Then on the right-hand side here, you're going to make sure that your street address, city, postal code, state, country are all the same that you registered on your CP575 form. Once you have adjusted it all, make sure you click on update so the information can save.
Then scrolling down to authorized representative, make sure you put your name, your surname, as well as the representative email. Then you can add your job position. And then finally, you must add a phone number. Please make sure this number is your personal number and not an LC or Twilio number. Then click on update information.
Then moving on to the left-hand side, we have the business information. This is just further information regarding your business's legal details. For this example, we're going to be setting up an LLC, but you can click on the toggle and click on the relevant. Then below that, the business industry is also very important. So click on the toggle and then find your relevant industry.
In this case, we're going to be setting it up for an American business. So I'm going to be choosing an EIN. But please note, you can still register for A2P 10DLC compliance even if you are not inside the US. Just select the relevant ID type and make sure that your business is a taxpaying business in your respective country. Then below that, just click on the relevant business regions of operations. In this case, I'm going to say USA and Canada. Click on update information.
The next step is moving on to optimizing your websites, funnels, forms, and surveys to make sure that this information is the same as what has been displayed there. Campaigns require a proper opt-in method which ensures that the end users provide consent to receive text messages.
Okay, so for paper form opt-in, an install visitor completes a physical form that collects their phone number and their consent to subscribe to your texting campaign. For example, if it's a hair salon or a barber, the business must host a screenshot of the paper form on a publicly accessible website like a one drive folder or Google drive and provide that URL in the answer of how do end users consent to receive messages, which I'll get to in step three.
Okay, so moving on to the website requirements as well as the funnels, surveys, or whatever you're using. So websites must have an active functioning website, a properly attached domain, no highle branded links, a privacy policy and terms of service included in the footer, and these must be included on the website forms, surveys, funnels, or whatever you're trying to get the campaign approved for.
So you can see this example website I just created with the website AI for ABC Industries. If I scroll down to the footer, it must have the privacy policy, the terms of use or terms of service linked to the actual pages on the site. So, if I click the privacy policy link, it will take me to the privacy policy page. In this case, I just pasted our templates or the formats, but in a moment, I'll show you exactly what the providers are looking for in the privacy policy as well as the terms of service page.
But before we do that, I'll move on to the form requirements. So, in other words, the place that the customers are actually opting into. I have a form that just simply has the name, surname, phone number, email, and then consent check boxes, as well as at the bottom having the privacy policy and terms of service.
So the first important thing you want to do is make sure that the phone number is not marked as required. So just click on the phone number and then come down to required and then just check this off. It will be toggled on by default. So make sure you come here and click off required.
So for the check boxes, there's a couple things that you need to have. Firstly, the wording must include a business ID, which is just the name of the business, but that name must be the same on the EIN. Then the wording must have a text help for help, as well as the wording must have text stop to unsubscribe. And then also you need to include the message frequency. So we can say here, message frequency may vary. We're not being specific. But if you are using a DBA, then in the form checkbox, make sure to put in the registered name. Add DBA, then your business name, just all together in one sentence.
And then we move on to the next checkbox. So it is best practice to add the second checkbox if you are sending out marketing messages too. So this should be configured to include marketing message frequency, the business name, and the ability to opt out as well as opt-in for help. So it is mandatory to also have the link to the privacy policy at bottom, as well as the terms of service. And if you want to edit it, click on this box and then at the top here, you can highlight over the privacy policy. Click the three dots next to it and then link your actual privacy policy link here.
So it's very unlikely to get approved if you don't have this configured correctly, or if you have highle links in here, or if you just have the default example.com link here. You want to make sure that you are not mentioning sharing any customer information onto any third-party affiliates or parent companies.
So the main section the provider looks for in the privacy policy is how we collect your information, how we use your information, data security, and cookies and tracking technology. So I won't share any legal information on what to say, but here are some templates to look through just to make sure that you are including all the above points. So here's a sample privacy policy, but you can see that it is titled with all the main things that the provider is looking for, as well as additional privacy policy information. Then here is a terms of service sample that if you do use, make sure that you have changed the information to match your business's information.
Okay, so now we're going to start the application process. So what you're going to do is come over to your sub account, go to settings, then come down to phone numbers. You'll see this page over here. In this case, I don't have my phone number attached. Please note, you don't actually need a number in place here to start the A2P compliance application, but you would come up here to trust center and then you'll see this page here.
Okay, so this is your A2P portal. So A2P has two steps: the brand verification and the campaign verification. So the brand verification, which is built around your business. So, in other words, the information that you had on your CP575 form. What you're going to do is come down to start registering now. Then you're going to select if this business entity you're registering is located in the US and or Canada. If it is, click on yes. If not, toggle on no. Then it's going to pull the information that you set up inside your account's business profile. So again, make sure that is accurate. Once you're happy, click on continue. And then do the same thing for the business address as well as the authorized representative.
Then after that, you have two options. First being the low volume standard as well as the high volume standard. So if you are a smaller business or not doing as much volume, then you'll select this one here. The high volume standard does cost a bit more. Then you have a check box here which is saying that you acknowledge that the brand and campaign registration one-time $24 will be charged, which is the additional $3 for the fast track program and this is included, which will help speed up the whole process. Then campaign fee will also be charged in case of the campaign failures and resubmissions. Additional campaign fee up to $12 per month will apply in accordance with TCR rules for both failed and approved campaign. You're going to select your one, hit the check box, and then continue.
Then we get down to the campaign details. So these are the questions that the provider will go through. At the top here, you'll select your use case. In this case, it'll be low volume mix, but if you click on the toggle, you'll see different information here. So if you're doing a two-factor authentication campaign, then you'll select this one and then continue.
Then below that, you're going to explain your use case description. So on the right-hand side here, you'll see an example. If I copy that and paste it here. So this description will say, "This campaign sends appointment information, confirmation, and reminder messages to customers once they have booked an appointment with company name on websites and opted in to receive promotional and notification SMS from company name." So you need to make sure that your company name here is the exact same company name that you have in your business profile or the name that is on your EIN form.
Then below that, you're going to do the same thing for the sample message. So this is to tell them what type of messages your customers will receive and how they will receive it. So to grab an example, this one says, "Hi John, this is Jane from company name. Our appointment for July the 20th is confirmed. Please reach out to this number in case you need to reschedule. Then reply stop to unsubscribe." So make sure this number is the same number that you have from your business. And then you're going to move on to sample message number two.
So it's the exact same thing as the first one, but you can see here this example says, "Hi Brian, this is Jane from company name. I see that you weren't able to make it for our appointment. Would you like to reschedule?" Then it has a link over here. So you need to make sure that link is also adjusted to what your link actually is. And then it says, "Reply stop to unsubscribe." And if you do have a link in here, then if you come down to these toggle options over here, you need to make sure that this message will include an embedded link is toggled on because you are embedding a link. Then if you have any phone numbers like this example over here, and this one also needs to be toggled on. Then if any of these toggles apply, then also toggle it and then press on continue.
Then moving on to the user consent. So this is to explain to the provider how they consent to receive messages. On the right-hand side, you can pick an example and adjust it for your business. In this case, it says, "End users opt in by visiting." Then we have the link and filling in their details. Users check a box to receive notifications and promotional messages to provide their consent. Additionally, end users can also text start to this number." So again, you just want to describe the whole process to them in a very neat way where they can then see the correlation across the entire campaign.
Then below that we have the opt-in message. "You have successfully opted in to receive notification and promotional SMSs from company name. Please reply stop if you need to opt out in the future." So again, it needs to have the company name put in here, as well as an opt-out keyword. And once you're happy, click on submit.
Okay, there you have it. You have now submitted your campaign for ATP compliance. So over some time, it will be reviewed. Then the status of if it has been approved or not will be sent back to you. And if it does come back that the application has failed or been rejected, then you need to see what the reason was. You'll see that by going to the trust center. Then you'll see brand failure reason under the reason tab here. Then you can take a second to maybe pause the video and see what your rejection reason was, as well as the solution to help you get it approved.
All right, so that's it. Make sure you check out this video, and if you have any questions, please let us know down below.
