What happens when America's most powerful military bases come under direct attack? A new report has claimed that Iran's retaliatory missile and drone attacks during the 2026 conflict exposed major vulnerabilities in the US military network across the Persian Gulf. According to the report, the military bastion Washington had spent decades constructing across the Persian Gulf, a vast network of bases, air defenses, naval facilities, and logistical hubs designed to project power, contain Iran, and dominate the region was shaken in a matter of hours.
One of the critical US military installation in the Middle East is Camp Buring. Located in the northwestern Kuwaiti desert near the Iraqi border, it is the US Army's principal ground force staging base in Kuwait. Satellite images showed extensive damage across multiple support buildings, warehouses, troop facilities, and key logistics infrastructure. According to the Press TV report, among the most significant damage visible in satellite imagery was the heavily burned electrical substation showing extensive scorched blackened equipment, destroyed transformer banks, and substantial debris.
Ali Al-Salm air base located approximately 60 km west of Kuwait City near the Iraqi border is one of the most strategically important American operated air facilities in Kuwait. It serves as a major logistics, surveillance, aerial refueling, and expeditionary aviation hub supporting US Central Command Sentcom operations across the Persian Gulf and wider West Asian region. The Press TV report added, "The Iranian military carried out strikes on Ali al-Salm on February 28th and then again struck on March 1st and subsequent days. Satellite images analyzed by open-source intelligence claimed massive damage to hangers, support buildings, and critical sections of the base's operational infrastructure. Assessments also suggest impacts affecting aircraft shelters, radar installations, communications facilities, and other assets essential to sustained air operations at the base."
According to the report, the US Navy's fifth fleet came under direct attack with multiple Iranian ballistic missiles and kamicazi drones striking the installation. The Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps announced that a fifth fleet service center had been precisely targeted.
Issa Air Base located in southern Bahrain serves as the country's principal military aviation installation. During the recent war, satellite images showed that the Iranian missile strikes appeared concentrated on a relatively small number of facilities rather than spread across the entire base. According to the Press TV report, the impact symbols consisted almost entirely around the northern operational zones with strikes concentrated in hangar areas, maintenance compounds, support facilities, and technical infrastructure.
Located south of Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates, the Aldafra air base was attacked by Iranian missiles and kamicazi drones. It reportedly destroyed the American air warfare center, satellite communication center, early warning radars, and fire control radars. The retaliatory attack effectively decapitated the base's command and control capabilities, striking at the very heart of its operational function. Satellite imagery shows localized damage concentrated around hangers and support structures rather than catastrophic destruction of the entire base, a pattern consistent with targeted strikes designed to disable rather than demolish, the Press TV report added.
According to the report, the Iranian military targeted the US military's long range radar installations across the Persian Gulf. An Iranian missile strike reportedly destroyed the AN-fps132 upgraded early warning radar at Aluded air base in Qatar. Costing $1.1 billion, this UHF phased array radar is designed to detect and continuously track ballistic missiles at extremely long ranges.
