Y'all have been tagging me in these videos constantly asking for my opinion, so here it is. I'm going to say this once: this paper is, and I cannot stress this enough, not peer-reviewed. One of the authors of this paper is known for other works like this one, like this one. Part of the reason why a paper from 2022 is only gaining so much traction over the last 48 hours is because it was covered in a press conference with a guy from Infowars. This guy and a guy from Infowars.
So here's the ground truth of it: nobody knows what this is. Anyone who tells you they know what this is is lying to you. And until this is peer-reviewed, any theories about this are completely baseless conjecture.
