God bless you and welcome once again to another exciting episode of Doers of the Word Ministries broadcast on the Marketplace Network. My name is Bishop Reginald Given and I am the senior pastor of the Word of Truth Community Worship Center. And I believe that this message will be a blessing unto you today. And so without any further ado, we're going to open up with a word of prayer and then we're going to go directly into our message.
Gracious heavenly father, thank you for the blessings of another day. Thank you Lord for your hand resting upon us. Thank you Lord for your word which is truly a light unto our path and a lamp unto our pathway. We ask God that you will illuminate our eyes. Give us understanding. Give us ears to hear what the spirit of the Lord wants to say. Help us God to hide your word in our hearts that we be doers of your word and not just hearers only deceiving ourselves. Let somebody be encouraged. Let somebody be healed. As the scriptures declared, he sent his word and it healed them. Let somebody receive this word and let them be healed in the name of Jesus. And God, we give your name the praise, the glory, and all the honor. We ask these blessings in Jesus mighty name. Amen.
All right, I want to go directly into my message for today. I want to share something with you today that you ought to be using every day of your life. You ought to be using it. You ought to be taking advantage of it every day of your life. It is it is something that God has made so readily available to all of us. something that is so powerful that it can help you to not only have but also to maintain complete victory against the forces of the devil. Because it's quite evident. I don't know if you've been listening to the news and looking around. It's quite evident that the enemy is attacking. He's attacking in our homes. He's attacking our marriages. He's attacking even in the church. Amen. And listen, the best way to destroy the world is to first destroy what's good in the world. Amen. Amen.
The Bible says that we are the salt of the earth. Amen. We are the salt of the earth. But if the salt has lost its savor, wherewithal shall it be salted? You see, salt serves as a preservative. And with just the right amount of it, it can also help whatever you're eating to taste just a little bit better, too. And that's what we are supposed to be in this world. We are the salt of the earth. We are to preserve this world. We are to make it palatable. Amen. But if the devil if the devil can cause division between uh and among the saints, if the devil can get us to bite and devour one another, then the world really doesn't stand a chance. This is why Jesus has to hurry up and come back because he said in his word that unless those days would be shortened, there should no flesh be saved.
If you look at Psalm 66 division and the 16th verse, Psalm 66 and the 16th verse, the psalmist says, "Come and hear. I don't want you I don't want you to just be present. I want you to pay attention is what he's saying. Come and hear all ye that fear God and I would declare what he has done for my soul." Hallelujah.
Now, the author of Psalm 66 is relatively unknown. Uh it remains anonymous. No one really knows who the author of Psalm 66 is. Although it is traditionally attributed to King David but the text does not provide a specific author. So what happened with this particular psalmist? While in captivity, the psalmist had sought the Lord with frequent prayer for his own personal salvation and for the deliverance of the people. God in turn blessed him, heard his prayer, and turned the captivity. Amen. Praise God. Now that he has returned in safety, he is determined to perform his vows to the Lord and calls on all them that fear their maker, who have any religious reverence for him to attend to his account of the Lord's gracious dealings with him. What he does is he proposes to declare to them his spiritual experiences, what it was that he needed and what he earnestly prayed for and what God has done for him. In other words, he wanted to testify. Thus, he intended to teach them by example, which is very, very important. teach them by example which is always always more powerful than precept no matter how impressively delivered.
Also it says in Psalm 145 verse number four. It says one generation shall praise thy works to another. In other words, one generation will tell of God's goodness to the next generation. Amen. And shall declare thy mighty acts. In other words, God's creating and redeeming acts are recorded in his word. However, his wonderful providential dealings with mankind must be handed down by tradition. Amen. From generation to generation simply because they are continually taking place even in this day and hour in which we live today. Amen.
I want you to know that God is a God who always honors his word. And when we declare his word, watch this. When we his people declare his word with our mouths according to the be clause of Jeremiah 1:12 God says I will hasten my word to perform it. Hallelujah. Now the word hasten in the Hebrew language is the word shakad. Shakad that is hasten in the Hebrew language and what it means means it means to watch over. Amen. It means to watch over. Some of you parents, mothers, you you you know what it means to watch over your infants when you have a newborn baby that's lying in the crib and you walk in into the room and you look over the crib and you're watching over making sure the baby is sound and not having any difficulties breathing. You watch over your child. And this is what God does with his word. In other words, God is on the lookout. Watch this. God is on the lookout and he's watching to see who is declaring his word so that he can perform it to his glory. Amen.
So my message today is entitled the power in declaring the word of God. Well, that's it. That's it right there. The power in declaring what God says.
Now in Matthew 9 27-31 it says this. It says, "And when Jesus departed from there, two blind men followed him crying and saying, Thou son of David, have mercy on us." And when he was come into the house, the blind men came to him as well. And Jesus said unto him, unto them, "Do you believe that I am able to do this?" And they said unto him, "Yes, Lord." And listen, sometimes that's all God really requires from you and I is just a yes, Lord. They declared, "Yes, Lord, we believe." Then he touched their eyes, saying these words, "According to your faith, be it unto you." Amen. And when I pray for people at my home church, they will hear me say this often. I say it because Jesus said it because there's something powerful in your faith. According to your faith, be it unto you. And their eyes were opened. And Jesus straightly charged them and said, "See that no man know about this." But they when they were departed, they spread abroad his fame in all that country. They said, "I got we got to tell about this." Amen.
Now, in spite of the fact that they did not honor the Lord's request, you've got to admit that this was the exact same thing the psalmist did when the Lord answered his prayer. They went and declared it unto others. In the Bible, we find a strong correlation between the word of God and faith. We know that Romans 10:17 tells us, "So then faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the word of God." So what is the correlation? Well, here it is. Number one, the word of God produces faith because faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God. That's one. Number two, faith in turn once it is produced, faith is what activates the word of God. You can't have one without the other. Faith and the word of God work hand in hand. The word of God produces faith and faith activates the word of God.
In Hebrews 11:6, it tells us, "But without faith, it is impossible to please him. For he that cometh to God must believe that he is." And I like to always stop right there and reiterate this is that you got to believe that God is everything that he says that he is. If he says he's a healer, you must believe that God is a healer. If he says he's a way maker, you must believe that God is a way maker. Amen. He is everything that he says he is and continuum and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him. I stopped by to let you know that God rewards faith when he sees it. Amen. Let that sink in. God rewards faith when he sees it. Just like we value those who have faith in us, well, God values those who has faith in him. But unlike our motivation, God's motivation is not selfserving. God is aware that his ways are good and he will deliver blessings to all those who love him and to all those who will obey him.
Now watch this. When Jesus said to the two blind men according to your faith, "Be it unto you," in essence, stay with me, in essence, he was trying to teach them to think what God thinks. Amen. He was trying to teach them to think what God thinks. Notice what it says in Romans 12:2. "And be not conformed to this world, but be ye transformed. How? By the renewing of your mind." Amen. For what purpose? "That you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God."
Now, I'm under the opinion, and we all are entitled to our opinions, and I've had people argue this with me and debate, and we went back and forth, but I am under the opinion that God does not have a permissive will and then a perfect will. Because to me, my opinion, that would make God double-minded. And God is not double-minded. Let me tell you what it says in Jeremiah 29:1. "For I know the thoughts that I think." God is saying, "I know what I'm thinking. I'm I'm not confused. I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord. Thoughts of peace and not of evil to give you an expected end." God is saying this. He's saying, "I know what I think, but can I get you to think like that, too?" Yes. That's right. Amen. I know what I think. I'm sure about my thoughts. I'm I'm I'm not crazy, nor am I doubleminded. But can I get you to think like that, too? Wow. Amen. God is saying, "Think like I think, Jeremiah. Think like I think and you shall surely see it come to pass." Amen.
In 1 Corinthians chapter 2:1 16 it says, "For who has known the mind of the Lord that he may instruct him, but we have the mind of Christ." Do you see that? Yes. We have the mind of Christ. It is through the baptism of the Holy Ghost that he has endowed us with his same disposition. Amen. Being born again by his spirit, therefore we are capable of knowing his mind and receiving the teachings of his spirit. Amen. These teachings do we receive we do receive and therefore we are well qualified to convey them to others. This could possibly be, and I'm I'll say this very carefully, but this could possibly be one of the reasons why some people in the church are not emotionally stable because they do not spend enough time meditating on God's word and making sure that their thoughts are in line with what it says. Amen. Wow. Wow. Wow.
Listen, there is power in declaring the word of God. Speak what God speaks. Think what God thinks. This is why I'm convinced that the devil does not want the word of God hided in our hearts, let alone spoken with our mouths. The Bible tells us that for out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks. And here's something else, too. People just don't realize that their mouth is like a loaded gun. They don't have a clue. They don't realize this. It tells us in Proverbs 18 verse 21, "Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof." And and I like to always personalize this verse by saying your death and your life is in the power of your tongue. Amen. Because if you speak sickness, sickness will find you. Come on. Hallelujah. If if you speak defeat, defeat will find you. If you speak poverty, poverty will find you. Yes. This may very well apply to all men. Wow. Amen. Because many, many have lost their lives by their tongue. And some have literally saved their lives by their tongue as well. But it does apply most forcibly to the preacher, those of us that proclaim the word of God, because on many of our tongues hangs life and death. Amen. And so we must be careful how we fire our mouths at people.
In Proverbsap 6:2, notice what it tells us. It says, "You were snared. You were snared with the words of your mouth." You snare yourself. You are taken with the words of your mouth. You become captive to your own words. If you're going to speak anything over anything or anyone, speak the word of God. Amen. Because there is power in declaring the word of God. The word of God says I can do all things through Christ that gives me strength. The word of God says says I'm more than a conqueror through him that loves me. The word of God says, "Greater is he that's in me than he that's in the word of God." Declare the word of God. No matter what's going on in or our in our lives or our circumstances, no matter what's going on in our situations, we're still able to remain calm and remain loving while we declare the word of God and trust him to work everything out. You got to speak it. Amen. You got to speak it before you see it. Wow.
So, as I close, I want to share just another passage of scripture with you and then we're going to pray. Go with me to Mark 11 verse 23- 26. It says, "For verily I say unto you, that whosoever shall say unto this mountain, be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea, and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he says, what he declares, what he speaks, shall come to pass, he shall have whatsoever he says, what he declares, what he speaks." That's it. Amen. Therefore, I say unto you, what things soever you desire when you pray, not when you get back to your seat, not when you get back home, but when you pray, believe that you have received them. And the word of God says, "And you shall have them." We stand on what God says. We stand on his word. His promises are yay and amen.
Oh, and this is something added in that I believe that the saint should practice more often, too, because it would serve to free you up a little bit more. Notice what verse 25 says. "And when you stand praying, forgive." Amen. Wow. Forgive. Yes. "If you have ought against any, forgive so that your father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses." But here is a very powerful indictment. Watch this verse 26. "But if you do not forgive, if you do not forgive, neither will your father which is in heaven forgive your trespasses." You can cast out devils. You can speak in tongues. You can lay hands on the sick and they be healed. And you can get right up to the pearly gates and be denied entrance because you did not forgive. Let me read it to you again. "But if you do not forgive, neither will your father which is in heaven forgive your trespasses." Listen saints, forgiveness is not only for the person who has offended. Forgiveness is also for the one doing the forgiving. Wow. It frees you up. It it it it takes the the burden off of you. Wow. Wow. Just let it go. Ah, ask God to help you. Ask God to heal you. Ask God to deliver you. Let it go.
So let us bow our heads and pray. Heavenly Father, we thank you for the gift of faith. We thank you Lord that it comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God. We acknowledge, Lord, that our faith in you will be rewarded and we are blessed because we believe in your name. Help us, Lord, to trust in your ways, knowing that they are good and that they bring blessings into our lives. Father God, we we ask that our faith will guide our actions and that it will help to make the world a better place. Father, we pray for those who who misunderstand your ways. We pray dear God that they come to know that you respond only to faith and never by demands. Father, we declare, we declare and we speak because there is power in declaring the word of God over our lives that our faith in you is rewarded. We declare just as you promised in Matthew 8:13 and we ask it in Jesus name. Amen.
