test in your own city. There was in South Lake, which is like maybe 5 minutes down from my house here in Texas, there was an uh I don't know even know what you call it. It wasn't that huge. But the fact that they were in South Lake kind of surprised me.
>> We're going to see uh Glenn AI today. Uh I'm going to give you a preview of what's going to happen on Glen AI, but the full uh podcast is going to be available right after the radio show today. Again, I don't know how far Glenn's going to go into that, but I was looking at some of the organizers, an organization called Indivisible. They've been popping up to all the major whether it's anti-ICE, whether it's No Kings, whether it's all over the place. Their organ the organizers very, very interesting. We have some audio that was leaked from one of their planning sessions. This was back during No Kings, but it was very, very telling. We also have other organizations that um they are allied with where they get their funding. It's all going to be in the Glen AI podcast today. It's really, really interesting. Glenn might hit some of this stuff today. Just in case he doesn't, we will be ready with Glen AI.
Also, Iran, what does that mean? Everything that's been going on, there was a photo today that should be in every single mainstream outlet today. Every single one. I know Glenn's going to talk about that today, but the fact that it's not is also very, very telling. Also, is the Trump administration going to greenlight air strikes or some kind of military action in support of the protesters? He mentioned that he probably will if the regime cracks down. I don't know if you guys were watching on X or other social media over the weekend, but the the I guess the guesses on how many or uh demonstrators or protesters were killed in these uh in in when the regime fired back is all over the place. I've seen everywhere from 500 to like 10,000. So, we'll keep an eye on that all day throughout the broadcast. We also have a guest coming up later in the show that will provide more context to what's happening in Iran. All your questions will be answered about Iran today. If not, you and I will go deeper into it.
Also, did you see how the Democrats changed their tune over the weekend as far as everything going on in Iran? Actually, they changed their tune on almost everything that at least as far as like Islam and then the Red Green Alliance, how those two react with each other. They changed their tune big time over the weekend. What does that mean? And should we can be concerned about it.
Also, the thing that I believe Glenn's gonna start the show with now, I think he's gonna go here. Jerome Powell last night, right before I went to bed, he made a I think around a two and a half minute video, something like that at night. He just came out with it. He was like, "I got to I mean, I don't you know, I don't have time to show you. So, actually, look at this. Actually, Matt, switch to this really quick if you have time. Look at this. This is if the Oval Office is the picture of seat of power for the freedom of democracy, this is the seat of power for the global regime." And it seemed like he was scared. But anyway, I think Glenn's going to go there and he's starting right now. The flame. Pass it on. Crank the game. Play back is on. Back is on. The fusion of entertainment, enlightenment, and empowerment. This is the Glen Beck program.
>> GLEN BECK IS ON. Hello America. Welcome to the Glen Beck program. We are so glad that you're here. It is Monday. Now let's look at what's trending today. One of the hot topics, Jerome Powell in a fight with Donald Trump. Gee, I wonder who's going to win on that one. We're going to go into the creature from Jackal Island. Uh, also we have the Islamic regime collapsing in Iran. It looks like it. Maybe I maybe I'm being a little optimistic. I'm trying. Break break break break. It's going to be close. Uh but they're starting to round more people up. President Trump is saying that he's going to get a little more serious with him. I don't know what that means uh yet. Uh but also the left is starting to change their tune here in America. And an interesting theory on that one. Uh also what's happening in Minnesota. It's a nightmare mess. But we know where it's coming from. We get into that. And the last thing that's trending is the Golden Globes. Uh, one of those things we're not going to talk about today. G, I wonder which one. We begin in 60 seconds.
First, let me talk to you about Legacy Box. If you know anything about me, you know I have a deep passion for preserving history. Not just the big stuff, the documents, the dates, the headlines, but the human record, the small personal things that explain who we who we are and who we were before we started editing the story. It is so important. The one thing I wish I would have done in my life is kept a journal. I've kept a journal from time to time. I'll go like there'll be like four weeks, you know, in in 2011 where I kept a journal and then there's like seven weeks in 2015 where like I'm going to get serious about this journal. Now, kids, you're not going to get into writing. This is my journal every day. But the other thing that is really important are pictures. Tanya gave me a picture uh for my uh my uh for my Christmas. My daughter gave me a photograph of the two of us together from years gone by as a Christmas gift. Those to me are so important. They they are they capture that moment in our life that we hopefully will remember and pass on to coming generations on who we were. That's why you need to preserve and rescue those things. If you have a big box of pictures for your family, you are the archivist. You're the historian for the family. Make sure you rescue your family's most cherished memories that maybe you haven't even watched in years. The videos, the the film reels, even just the pictures are decaying day by day. Go to legacybox.com/records. Put it all in a legacy box. Send it to them. They'll copy. You'll get the originals back and a digital copy of everything so you can share them with everybody. give. Save 55%. That's the best uh I've ever heard them give. 55% now at legacybox.com/records. That's legacybox.com/records.
>> Oh yeah. Well, hello and welcome to the program. So, let's start with the big story of the day. The Golden Globe. No, I'm not going to um let me talk to you a little bit about Jerome Powell. Jerome Powell uh had a hissy fit last night because on Friday the DOJ said, "Look who we're coming after." Now, in case you don't know, you don't go after the Federal Reserve. Unless you're President Trump. Reagan tried to do it and uh it didn't go well. It didn't go well for President uh Reagan. But President Trump may be a a different animal entirely. He is going after uh the Federal Reserve with the DOJ and they uh filed against the Federal Reserve and said we're going to start looking into this palace that you're building.
Now, let me give you an update on just the palace that they're building. They're like uh a billion dollars in overruns right now. Now, let me ask you, if you got a loan and you were a billion dollars overrun, do you think the bank would have a problem with that? Do you think the bank might say, "You know what? I don't think I'm going to give you another loan because you're a billion dollars in cost overruns." I think the bank would have a problem. This bank doesn't have a problem with it. There's no no bank calling them going, "Hey, what are you doing?" The president is the one having to call them and say, "What are you doing?" Because for some strange reason, this is a private corporation and you, the taxpayer, are paying for their new their new palace. That's the best I can describe it. It's a palace, you know, with fountains in the lobby of the chairman and Oh, it's beautiful. It's beautiful. And you the great thing is is you'll be able to see it when you go into the Federal Oh, wait. You don't go into the Federal Reserve. I don't go in. Who goes into the Federal Reserve? Well, the elites are really going to enjoy it. They're going to love it. Billion dollars in cost overruns. The president uh has a problem with that. He's bringing it up to them and saying, you know, maybe we should look into this legally. Maybe there's some things going on. Oh, no, no, no, no. You can't check the books from Coen Powell. You can't check the books of the Federal Reserve. H really? Well, President Trump is going to check the books on the Federal Reserve.
Now, I want you to know that that's not really what this is about. Yes, they're a trillion or a billion dollars in cost overruns. Yes, they're out of control. Yes, you can't check their books. But that's not what this is about. What this is about is Donald Trump doesn't think the Federal Reserve, a private corporation with all this secrecy, should be the ones making the decisions on what your interest rate is. Now, I'm going to go a step further and say I think the free market should decide. Yeah. You see, when you take all of the big banks and you put them together and you call them the Federal Reserve, that's what I like to call a monopoly. Not the game, but just as frustrating. The banks have a monopoly. The banks are the ones colluding to decide what are they going to charge you for interest. And by the way, um, inflation that's not a bug, that's a feature. Inflation is planned.
Now, let me ask you, if I said to you, "Hey, how much money should your dollar lose every year? How many pennies on every dollar should you lose? Should you lose two, three, five, or eight pennies on every dollar every year, you have it in savings, you're spending it. How much would you like it to go down?" Now, I'm a weirdo, so I say no pennies. It should not lose value. In fact, I'd like it to gain value. But that doesn't happen. Why? Because the Federal Reserve has decided that 2% inflation is the right number. So you should lose two cents. Wait, every year on every dollar? And we're losing much much much more than that. I was doing calculation the other day. I'm charging when we announce you know that the that the torch is up for, you know, subscription. I'm charging you $9.99 and for the first month that we offer it, it will be uh inflation proof for the rest of your life. Okay? As long as you hold your subscription, if you have if you were one of the founding people that came in, I will never raise the price on you.
Now, I was doing some calculations. $9.99, we're going to call it, no, this is crazy. We're just going to say it's 10 bucks because that's what $9.99 is. But anyway, you put 10 bucks in. That's what I charged when we first put the Blaze together. I said it's $9.99. Do you know how much $9.99 is worth today in 2011? This will show you how much money you how much money your money has lost. How much is $9.99 today if you had 2010 2011? That's actually like $6.70. Your dollar has lost over $3. I mean, your $10 bill is now worth about $7. That's how much money you've lost since Obama was in. That's not a bug. That's a feature of the Federal Reserve. And most people don't even know what the Federal Reserve is because you're not taught about it. Not because it's secret. You know, books have been written, hearings have been held, transcripts have been preserved, but you don't you don't teach it to anybody because, well, I mean, it's inconvenient. It doesn't exactly flatter power. It actually, if you start looking at it and you realize what it really is, you're like, "I don't think I like that at all." No, no, no. It's the Federal Reserve. They named it the Federal Reserve for dopes like us. So, we would always say, "Well, it's a federal institution. It's part of the government." No, it's not. It's a private corporation.
If you had to read one book this year, I would suggest you read a book called The Creature from Jackal Island. It's by G. Edward Griffin. When I first read this, I didn't know who G. Ed uh uh G. Edward Griffin was. And so I started doing my homework on him because I'm like, "I don't want to read this if he's some crackpot." Well, he's not some crackpot. Uh, and I actually did an interview with him the last year at Fox. Some people say see Glen Beck had uh G. Edward Griffin on and that's why they fired him. They didn't fire me and it had nothing to do with it. Or did it? Um, but it is uncomfortable. Nobody wants to talk about this. But what he does in this book, he doesn't start with conspiracy. He begins with history. The banks had been wanting a federal bank forever. They wanted to control the money supply. They wanted to be the ones to print the money and control the money. And I'll get into why here in a minute, but it was a small group of men. It was senators and bankers and financial architects. and they slipped out under assumed names and got onto a private cha train and went to a private retreat on a place called Jackal Island. There was no press, no public record. There were no voters. This was all entirely secret and they they were not drafting a bill to be debated. They were designing a system to be accepted. And what emerged from that island was not a government agency at least in the normal sense. It was a mechanism. It was a the reason why it's creature from Jackalena. It's a hybrid. It's a hybrid creature. It's public in its appearance. It's private. Unbelievably private like illegally private in any other business and completely shielded from all accountability. Tell me another structure like that besides what? The CIA armed with power. Power that no free society should ever hand to any unelected body ever. And the creature is the Federal Reserve. And it's not a department like the US Department of Finance. It's not that. It's regional banks privately owned by member banks. Remember when they said, "Oh, you know what? The banks are too big to fail." What does that tell you we should do with the banks? This is what people said in 2008. They're just too big to fail. That would mean, okay, then maybe we don't let them fail. I mean, not in my opinion, but this is what the argument was. We don't let them fail this time. But then what do you do after you save them? Reason and logic would say, "I make them smaller, so I'm never in this position again." Right? They didn't. They made them bigger. And yes, governors are appointed, but once they are seated, they have extraordinary independence and the president can't do anything about it. You know the president when he selects a I'm going to select a new chairman of the Federal Reserve. Do you know where he gets the names from the Federal Reserve? He can't say, you know what I'm going to put in charge? Ran Paul. He can't do that because they wouldn't allow Rand Paul to ever get near the Federal Reserve. I don't even know Federal I don't know if he's even been allowed to walk into the Federal Reserve. So the president can only pick from the people that he wants. You know what that is? That's the Soviet Union and the way they used to run elections. That's the way Putin runs elections today. That's the way they run elections in Iran. The people can choose just from these preapproved people. Okay?
And the consequences are not abstract to you. They have the power, the only ones that have the power to create money out of nothing. They can just type it in with a keystroke and we're printing more money. It sets the interest rates which decide what you can do. Can you open a business? Can you afford a home? Uh, are your savings, remember, because of interest rates and because of inflation, are your savings rewarded or are you punished? If I've been saving money since 2010, look how much money I had $100,000 in. It's now worth 600 and uh 67,000 because it's lost money. It's lost the value of it. It still says I have all that money, but it's actually only worth about $67,000. What are you doing? Why would we do this? Why would we allow this institution to do this to us? They are privately stealing from us and telling us it's for your own good and your own safety. It also decides liquidity, a word that nobody really pays attention to. What a liquidity means is do the banks have enough money? Do we need to print some more money so the banks have more money? Because the banks the banks if if liquidity dries up then you know you can't get a loan. Uhhuh. So we got to print more money which will cost us more and then because that's a really really bad idea. Usually printing money the way we've been doing it. It's going to cost me on top of it because then you're going to have to raise my interest rates to unbelievable levels to be able to suck all that money back in. Who is who is who thinks this is a good idea? By the way, this is not regulation. This is command. They have command and control.
So, what is this really all about? What is the president really doing? And what is the Fed really doing? I want to try to explain just with this argument on the Fed. I'll explain what they're arguing about here in a second. And then I want to show you what the Fed really is and how this is a really brilliant master move, master stroke of genius. If you are trying to control the world, remember progressives, the word progressive, what does that mean? Means we make progress little by little, right? We're making progress. Progressivism is progress a little bit at a time. Why a little bit at a time? Why don't we just go for it? Why don't we just make these changes? Why wouldn't progressives state what their goal is and then make those changes? Because they know you don't want what they're selling. In the early 1900s, progressivism is just translated, if I may, slow communists. They didn't want the riots in the street. They didn't want the bloodshed. They don't want the banks overthrown and the economy to they'll just do it slowly by taking a little bit more power and a little bit more of your stuff every day. We'll continue in 60 seconds.
First, let me tell you about Patriot Mobile. Going to the chalkboard here in a second. There aren't a lot of them out there. In fact, they're pretty rare. But once in a while, you'll find a company that actually does two things at the same time. They provide you with top-of-the-line service and they also line up with your most deeply held values. That's like the opposite of the Federal Reserve. Um you you're doing company business with companies all the time that you don't want to look into honestly if you want to be able to have peace of mind or unless you want to get to it and start changing who you do business with. Wireless companies don't want you thinking about any of this. They want you just looking at their commercial and not asking any questions. But Patriot Mobile is different. They deliver the same reliable nationwide service. Yes, they may they use the same networks as the big guys and they do it at prices that are competitive and probably will save you a lot of money every month. And they're they stand with your values. I want you to go to patriotmobile.com/beck or call 972 Patriot. 972 Patriot. Use the promo code Beck for a free month of service. It's patriot.com/beck or call 972 patriot. Promo code Beck. make the switch today. Chalkboard is next. 10 seconds and then back to the show.
Okay. The founders understood the danger of a a federal bank and a federal institution because who is who benefits from a central bank when money is created? It's not you the wage earner because your purchasing power goes down. It's not you who saves money. You've been told save money, save money, put money in. No, because discipline is punished through inflation. The first people that benefit are the closest to the spigot. The spigot opens up and it's the large financial institutions, the big banks who are the Federal Reserve. Understand that the banks are the Federal Reserve. They're the ones who profit first, then any government that's borrowing money, and then the speculators who can move before prices rise. Why do you think there's not a big move for the Federal Reserve in Congress? How much is Nancy Pelosi worth again? H how how did she make those How did she make all that money? Oh, her husband's just great. No, her husband makes Warren Buffett look Okay? And that's I mean, I'm sorry, but that's the hard truth. Anybody who knows to make moves and what moves to make before are actual beneficiaries of the system, but not you. There's no vote. There's no receipt. There's no debate. And the founders understood that. So, I want to take you back to the founding era, then back to the progressive era, and then show you what it all means today when we go to the chalkboard. I know chalkboards on radio are really kind of dicey, but check it out at glenback.com, and I'll explain it if you happen to be listening to us on radio. That's next.
So, I work on a ranch. Yeah, I own a ranch. Work's not really involved. Well, work is very involved, but I do none of it. Occasionally, somebody at the ranch will let me ride a horse sometimes. Anyway, when you're out there, communication is not a nice to have. It is the difference between everything is fine and we have a real situation here. Here's the problem. Cell service is spotty at best. In fact, on the ranch in because I live up in the mountains, there's no communication, okay, with cell service. None. While back, we started using rapid radios. And the reason very simple, they work. No apps. Uh, no pairing, no standing on one foot, holding the phone at a certain angle just to turn them on, push a button, and talk and then, you know, nobody hears you. This one, you push a button, you talk, and the other person does hear you. And it doesn't matter if you're on a ranch, in a truck, on a job site, somewhere that cell towers have clearly decided to give up on. This is a tool for real people in real situations where communication matters. Right now, if you got a business, you'll get a discount up to 60% for business owners. Rapidradios.com. rapidradios.com. Communication redefined.
>> We're building a real community at Torch One where you talk to us and we talk back to you. Go backstage with Glenn and Jason only at glenbeck.com. Good morning, Torch Insiders. Welcome to the Torch Insider feed. Sorry for the technical difficulties we had at the top of the show. I don't think you guys saw me at the top or Glenn. Um, actually, you probably saw Glenn. Maybe you didn't for a couple of minutes, but that is all fixed now. That's all done. Apologies for that. Um, really quick, what I said before as far as what Glenn, where is where Glenn is going, we are going there is so much stuff that happened over the weekend. We are going to hit it all. We have protests, some turning violent, uh, but spreading all over the country, uh, you know, stemming from the from the ICE situation in Minnesota. Glenn's going to go there. He's also going to Iran. What does that mean? What's happening? A lot of Democrats ch started changing their tune really out of nowhere. Um, specifically regarding a Hamas, pro- Hamas rally or whatever the heck that thing was in a predominantly Jewish neighborhood. Glenn's going to go there. What does that mean? He's also going, as you just saw, to the Fed. He's got a chalkboard that he was working on when I came in this morning. There was a ton a ton of good information on that. And I want to go specifically to conversations that you and I were having in the chat because it goes towards what Glenn was just talking about. Um, David said, "Is it just me or does this topic, the Fed economics, bore me to death? I really couldn't care less about it." Yeah, I know it's important, but I really couldn't care less about this topic. Now, I want to highlight your comment, David, because um
>> Garrett responded. Garrett 2834 said, "Because like Pierce said, if I control the currency, I control the people." Really, really, really good comment. And also, if it's boring, Jacob 4680 said, "It's an excellent book." He's talking about what Glenn was talking about, The Creature from Jackal Island. If you're bored with stuff about the Fed or maybe just kind of unsure what it all means, read The Creature from Jackal Island. It reads like a spy novel. And it also explains everything for why the Fed was actually even invented in the first place. And it was basically just to prop up and protect the large banks in the country because they were scared to death of the Great Depression. They were scared of losing all their money, all their influence and power. So they created this creature on an island. Jackal Island. They created this creature that we would later know as the Fed to control all of that. And this is really interesting and I I pointed this out that this is a segment that you guys didn't see beforehand but when we started the show, but Jerome Powell last night he responded to the Trump administration where the Department of Justice started going after the Fed. And so Jerome Pal and it was all it was all having to do with subpoenas for what the um the building contracts the Fed was doing to I guess modernize the Fed. They've already got this like white temple basically, but they spending all this money to modernize. So the Trump administration was issuing subpoenas to figure out about that waste. Glenn's going to go more into this in the in the very next segment. But Jerome Pal, this was hilarious. Check this out. Like so if you see I don't know like if you've watched any kind of Oval Office speech from the president that image is iconic. It's iconic for that is the leader of the free world. That is the seat of power for democracy for freedom all over the world. Now the Fed kind of shows something different. So Matt, go full screen. This was Jerome Powell yesterday. I'm not going to play the video cuz I think Glenn's going to play it here in a little bit. But that right there, that that scene right there, that is the example of the global regime. The global regime that they well they believe and in large part they do controls the entire world. And how dare you come out and talk against them? Get off that for a second, man.
>> How dare you come out and talk against them? Now, what's funny is is that Jerome Pal at the Fed is trying to make it seem like they have nothing to do with politics. Nothing. It's just monetary policy because, you know, they they care so much for us. They care so much for us and they want to make sure they're doing their job just directing the economy so that it benefits you and me. That's what it's all about.
>> Jason. Jason.
>> Oh, yes, sir.
>> I say that you sound a little personal. It sounds a little personal.
>> It is a little bit. I think a little person. It should everybody. Hey, I want to apologize. I don't have any idea what happened to the tech today, but it will. And um we're starting I'm I'm not only building this, but I am building a goolog. Whoever whoever is responsible for making this work or not work every day, we'll find out. And they will be in a goolog very very soon.
>> 100%.
>> Um but uh sorry about that. We'll we'll make sure that uh It doesn't it doesn't happen. Now you know why we're not charging.
>> We spend all of our time and energy on AI and uh and apparently there's a there's a loose wire somewhere between here and your house. But we'll find it.
>> 100%. Uh yeah, and all those all those problems are fixed right now. So we should be all good. And I'm seeing you guys in the comments. Everyone's up and running and and and it's back to normal. But back onto my previous point before I run out of time. what they want to try to they want to pull this magic trick off the Fed does that they don't they don't alter monetary they don't alter politics at all. Well, if you remember in the last election in 2024 after over a year of not even messing with interest rates right in the leadup to the election on September 18th out of nowhere Jerome Pal and the Fed said ah we're going to start cutting interest rates September just a few months before the election they did that on September 18th. You know what was going on at September around September 18th?
>> The Teamsters and other unions started looking like they were an open rebellion against the Democratic party. They did not endorse the candidate. Then the next red cut November 7th, three days. Three days until the election.
More with Glenn now. Monday, January 12th. By the way, uh Stu has the week off. God, this guy never wor uh you know what it is. Uh, the Eagles had a very bad uh had a very bad weekend and uh I'm going to be honest with you, Stu got involved in some rioting in Philadelphia. He's in jail. We'll bail him out. Don't worry about it. But he will be uh he'll be back next week. And he is, for those of you who have been paying attention, uh he is starting his own uh business and he's going to be uh leaving us shortly. Trader and uh just couldn't get the job done. You know what I mean? Is it done yet? Is the job done? No. Uhuh. We saved America. No, I quit. Um anyway, uh uh we have a really nice we have a nice send off for him uh at some point when he gets we're going to do some nice things cuz I mean he's one of my best friends and we've worked together for 27 years. It's really it's weird. It's weird like the marriage gone bad except we like each other still. We I think we might even like each other more when we're away than we do at this time and we really like each other. I mean, Tanya may have some compet. I'm just saying. Tanya and Lisa, just Okay.
Uh, let me tell you about uh the Federal Reserve and what's what's going on. Now, Trump and Powell are going back and forth. Powell came out with this extraordinary uh statement last night where he said, you know, the president is going after us and I'll tell you what really is happening here. He just wants control of the interest rates. And I was listening to it and I thought, you know, who are you? You unelected, you unelected bank guy. Who gave you the power? Well, I know who gave you the power. The Senate did and the Congress did and the president did under Woodro Wilson in 1913. But the people didn't. I would much rather have an elected official or people that would answer to me. But think about the Federal Reserve. They don't answer to anyone but themselves. Okay? The president can't fire them. The president has to pick the replacement out of the replacements they suggest. We can't audit their books. We don't know what they're doing. It's completely secret. There is no The CIA has more oversight, I believe, than the Federal Reserve. And they're not a Federal organization. They are not part of the government in the traditional sense. Who who in their right mind thinks this is a good idea?
Let me show you what the founders's idea was. Okay, the founders's idea, like it or not, was that God gives man rights. Before it was God gave certain people, kings, uh, etc., etc. God gave rights to those people and those people had rights over you to tell you exactly what to do, how to live your life, what land you could own, you know, what you had to do with your money, what you had to do with your whole life. They could tell you everything about your life. The founders came along and said, "I don't think that's the way it should be. I think God gives the individual rights. So, the individual is more powerful or as powerful as any king. And the people can decide what to do with their business, what they can do with their life, who they can marry, how they live, where they live, what house they could buy, what land they could own. Before those, all those decisions were made by the king. You couldn't own property. The king or the lord and the lady had to give you that land or you had to negotiate. How is a popper going to do that? How is a how is somebody who's at the bottom of the barrel going to be able to buy land? Couldn't. They couldn't. and everything including the banks were controlled by the king. Okay, founders came along and said that's got to stop because people are their own sovereign. You're the sovereign over your own life and governments says in the Declaration of Independence are instituted among men to protect those rights. So the first thing is all men are created equal endowed by their creator with certain inalable rights and governments are instituted among men to protect those rights. So the first thing that government comes into is the people saying, "I need somebody to be a guardian over my rights, over my property, over, you know, business. If I'm in business and somebody's being unfair, I need somebody to come in and go, hey, hey, hey, these are the rules. You're wrong, you're right, but these are the rules. And if you guys don't like the rules, you guys can change the rules. I'm just here as a referee." Okay? That's the government's role. Is that their role now?
Now, we did that for a while. Then around the turn of the century, progressives came into the play. Progressives, like I said earlier, are just slow communists. And I'm not that's not a cute turn of phrase. That is really what they are. They believed in uh a collective uh power. They believed in the elites. So, it became fascism or communism. But progressives didn't want to have the bloodshed in the streets. And so they thought they could just build it piece by piece because they knew it would take a revolution to do it. And they had to separate you from the Bill of Rights, the Constitution, and the Declaration of Independence. Woodrow Wilson hated the Declaration of Independence. Ask any real progressive and they'll tell you that the Declaration of Independence plays no role in anything anymore. It's an old, dusty document for a different time. I'm here to tell you it's a do it's a document that is for this time, the future, and the past. It's who we are. It's our mission statement.
So, we developed when we said all men are created equal. Governments need to be instituted to protect those rights. We came up with a government that checked on itself. We had Congress, the president, and the court system. And they all ran checks and balances. Even in Congress, the purse strings, the only one that can start spending your money is Congress. So your congressmen, you have to vote them in every 2 years. Why? Doesn't that seem ridiculous? Every two years, you have to go vote for your congressman. No. The founders knew they controlled the spending. And so if you didn't like what they were spending, if they were raising taxes and spending too much, you could vote them out every two years. So they didn't have this long control. They were given the keys to the purse, to the safe. They don't anymore. You know, we haven't had a budget since 2008. Progressives finally got rid of the whole budget process. So it doesn't matter who starts it because all they do is they just add on to what they've already had. We're going to expand this, going to scract this, and they can move the money. Okay? So you've lost that control over your money.
Also, the the Senate was set up to be able to check be the check and the balance on the federal government versus the state government. Remember, states are more important than the federal government. That's what they believed at the founding era. But we need the the federal government to settle arguments just to play a referee and to also if there's a war wage war. Okay. So our we were so afraid that the federal government would get out of control and there would be a big deep state that the the founder said all of the senators are voted on by the uh state houses. So you could send a senator but the state house would vote on that. They did that because they felt that the senator would be loyal to the state if it became an election than other states. Think of this. Why do you care about Chuck Schumer? You care about Chuck Schumer because he affects you. Because his loyalty is no longer to New York. It's to the federal government. They work for all of us instead of their state. That's not the way it was set up. And that's part of the problem.
Then the president the president didn't have enough control because they remember progressives wanted bean counters. They wanted somebody that could control everything that wasn't necessarily elected. They were just the best in their job. And so let's get these experts in to do an administrative state. And so they grew the administrative state, the deep state. They grew all of these um administrative arms, the department of this, the department of that. That you don't even know who runs those things. Well, if you have to deal with one of those, go ahead. Deal with the Bureau of Land Management. Go ahead. Deal deal with the Department of Labor. Who do you vote out? You don't agree with what they're doing. Who do you vote out? You can't. They're not responsive to you at all. They're barely responsive to the president because they're trying to get rid of the president being able to fire any of those people. So they are completely unelected and now approaching unfirable.
Then you have the courts and around 1920 the progressives again decided they need to make case law and not constitutional law. So stop looking at the constitution and reading it the way the founders wanted it. Read it case law. If we could get one case to say this then it builds on that and then suddenly the constitution doesn't matter anymore. So they completely rotted all of the ideas that governments are instituted among men to protect those rights that you have. They rotted all of that. So you don't really have a constitutional government the way we and we haven't for 100 years the way our founders envisioned it.
Then between 1910 and 1920 all of those things happened. Congress changed the the the Senate changed the administrative state under Woodro Wilson case law. All of it happened between 1910 and 1920. But they needed one other thing because if you can control two things, health and money, you control people completely. So they took over your money. And this was voted on over and over and over again. And and the American people kept saying no. And so they all got together, all these bankers and these senators got together and went to Jackal Island for a week and they put together this whole idea of the Federal Reserve and named it the Federal Reserve so people would think that it's part of the Federal Government. It passed. It became a constitutional amendment. And what does it do? It controls everything. It controls your inflation. It controls the boom and the bust period. It controls everything. Basically, it controls you. It takes us from a country that says you can do anything to you can do anything if the federal government says it's okay and if the bank says it's okay. Before you could do anything and the government just played referee. Now the banks and the federal government pick and choose winners. Well, no. You need a light. You can't just go out and do something. You need a license for that. Why do I need a license for that? I mean, some things I think I need a license for. Hair cutting people's hair. I mean, in the era of straight razors, maybe. Maybe that's not happening anymore. Why do I need that? I need a license for Why? Why? So the state can not just make their money, but the state also has control. They also tell you who you can, you know, how you spend your money, how much money you have, how much money is that worth, what will the bank allow. And so we see this and we see this corrupt system and we're like, "Oh, those rich people. You're targeting the wrong rich people." For instance, California is now targeting billionaires. Ah, the billionaires, we got to tax the billionaires. They're just going to move. That's all that's going to happen. They have enough money. They're going to move. They'll move their corporation. They'll move everything out of California. They'll move someplace else. And if Texas decides to do that, they'll do Did you learn anything from France? This is what France did. All the billionaires moved. Tax the billionaires. What does taxing the billionaires actually do? What do high taxes actually do? Take it away from you and give the power to the state.
Now, let me take a quick break and I'm going to come back and tell you. So, what is this all created? Why is the Federal Reserve so important? And we go back to the chalkboard. One final row on the chalkboard. What is what is this created and what's the solution next?

More Glenn Beck next. Welcome back, Torch Insiders. This is the Torch Insider feed. I am Jason Butrol. You know, if I were to maybe put a theme to today's entire radio broadcast, and this is just me spitballing here and looking at the topics that Glenn has picked today. Um, I'm going to really quick scoot on over towards Glenn's uh radio prep and just kind of browse through some of these topics and have you look at them with me, too. This is the uh this is not letting me zoom in. Okay, forget it. Uh, so this is hour one. We're talking about the Fed. We're talking about we were supposed to get to Iran, which now I believe that's going to get pushed over to the next hour. Um, we're also talking about the demonstrations for the anti-ICE demonstrations breaking out all all across the country. You know, jump off that for a second, Matt. If I were to assign a theme, I would say it would be the people rebelling against a system that is incompatible with their society. And I think that that goes towards whether we're talking about the Fed or if that talks about what's going on with Iran right now. And I want to set you guys I want to set Glenn up for for later when he's talking about Iran. I want you guys to take a look at this Matt really quick. Um I want you guys to keep this image in your mind. This image was part of the Iranian protests this weekend. Not only would this be an amazing ad for Nike, by the way, but it's also an amazing ad for really Islamization is incompatible with Western society. But even that's kind of an untrue statement at the moment because this is the Middle East. It's even incompatible in the Middle East to probably one of the
largest countries in the Middle East. So, something to keep in mind, but I want to switch back over towards there were a few comments. Um, well, actually, let me stay on that point. So, the Fed as it's set up, people were talking in the comments earlier about uh Creature from Jackal Island, how that was a cool book. Um, there was a couple com actually I will go to a couple of comments.
Nicole said, "Anything Trump does can be undone easily unless it's codified by Congress, but Congress is all the initiative of a fry cook. Ding, the fries are done." Uh, true. Congress typically gives away their control or they do nothing.
Uh actually Marty in Arizona fired back not too long after Nicole and said Congress gave away their control. Pretty much everything that that they have political capital on they typically that's the play. They'll give up their control on that. Whether that's immigration, do we think they really care about immigration. They never try and fix it. They just use it from whichever side they'll just use it because there's too much political capital for them to gain off of it. But the Fed is is another point uh to to add to that. There's way too much control involved. That's the entire reason for the Fed. If you read The Creature from Jackal Island, again, it's like a spy book. The entire thing was to give control to the large banks so that they wouldn't face certain fears uh or certain risks that they faced during the Great Depression. It was to fix them. But it also gives them huge political control. Huge political control.
After over a year, I mentioned this before, after over a year of not doing anything with interest rates, in September 18th, 2024, after losing union support, the Fed suddenly decided to get back involved to adjust interest rates. Why? Look at the politics at the time in the leadup to the election. November 7th, just a few days before the election, they do it again. They do it again to try to manipulate public opinion. No, the economy is fine. This is one of those systems that is not compatible with the free society. >> It's just not. >> I have a feeling Glenn's going to pick a little bit more on this as we come back, but we're going to be getting closer to the next hour. That's coming up very soon.
All right. So, we're talking about the Federal Reserve and here's where I want to go with the Federal Reserve. The president is going after them. Anna Anna Paulina Luna came out and said back in the summer that uh Jerome Powell lied under oath about the cost of the re renovations. I believe he did. That'll have to be proven in a court of law. But he thinks that he shouldn't have to answer for any of that because well, he's the chairman of the Federal Reserve. They're $700 million over budget, money you're paying for. Now, I don't disagree that they need renovation. I'm sure they need renovation. The White House needed renovation. Although Donald Trump paid for that or got private donors to pay for that renovation, you're not paying for it. Let me ask you this private corporation known as the Federal Reserve. Why are you paying for the renovation? Why isn't City Bank, Why aren't the big banks paying for the renovation of their corporate headquarters, basically the one that's bailing them out all the time? Why aren't they paying for it? Why are you paying for it? You don't know the answer to that because they won't even open their books. You cannot ask for their books and their records. Let me ask you this. Can you imagine running a business in America where you didn't where you could tell the IRS, "You don't look at my books." Do you think anything bad might happen if no one could ever look at your corporation's books? We can't. They're completely opaque. We don't actually know who owns them. Um, we don't know who they are, their shareholders. Who are their shareholders? Who do they answer to? They don't answer to the president. They don't answer to you. And they have total control.
Back in 2008, the banks were too big to fail. So what do you do? You would bail them out and then you would make them smaller. They bailed them out and made them bigger. The corporations, they were Occupy Wall Street. All these corporations were under attack. Now notice, nobody's attacking, nobody from the left is attacking these big corporations. Why? Because they made a deal. And that's how you got BLM, the uh the uh World Economic Forum. It's all part of that same stew. This should not be part of our system. You want to fix it and make it fair. Abolish the Federal Reserve. And hopefully that conversation will begin with the conversation of, yeah, why are we paying $700 million in overruns for their stupid new building?
Welcome back, Torch Insiders. This is the Torch Insider feed. I am Jason Butel. Huge first hour. I didn't even know this when I came in this morning. I didn't think the entire hour was going to be just on the Fed. I'm glad it was. This is actually
