The people who run social media platforms, they talk about you behind your backs and they actually put you into three categories. And the three categories is the creators, the community who engage, and the audience who sit on the sidelines just watching what's happening. And here's how it works.

1% of people post every single week and the social media platforms identify them as creators and they amplify their content. 9% of people, they engage, they like, they comment, they share, but they don't post content themselves very often and 90% of people sit on the sidelines watching what's happening. They don't like, they don't comment, they don't share, they just view the content and they keep scrolling.

Now, the algorithms try and figure out which camp you fit into. And here's the good news. As soon as the algorithm identifies you as a creator, it starts ramping up your reach. It puts your content in front of bigger and bigger audiences. You have to let the algorithm know that you want to be a creator. And there's only one way to do it. Post every single week.

Now, if you're posting every single week or even every single day and you're using the same words and you're on topic and you're focused, you're telling the algorithm exactly how to amplify you and who to amplify you, too. Now, think about it from the point of view of the engineers who work at these social media platforms. It's not rocket science. They're just looking for people who are consistently creating content where it's clear who they're trying to reach. And they're looking for people who when they see that content, they like it. They engage with it. they view it, they have a decent watch time. So that's the whole game in a nutshell.

All the best content creators, they say the same things. Be consistent, be clear, and then let the algorithms pump you out to a bigger audience. Now, the truth is, we live in an age where audience attention is a form of currency. People who get lots of attention can launch businesses, launch products, they can put their prices up, they can pick and choose the right customers that they want to work with. But all of that is downstream from attention. If you cannot get attention, you can't do all of those wonderful things that you want to do in business.

Now, here's the other thing. Many of you are paying an attention tax. Imagine for a moment that the government increased your tax rate to 95%. Imagine that you could only keep $1 in every 20 that you earned. How furious would you be? How much would you want to move country or like figure out some structure to avoid that? Well, unfortunately on social media, many of you are actually paying a 95% attention tax. Here's how you're doing it. You're posting from a business brand.

Now, LinkedIn did some research. What they did is they figured out that if you were to start a personal brand and a business brand on the same day and you post the same thing at the same time every single day from the personal brand and the business brand, by the time the personal brand hits 20,000 followers, the business brand is only at a,000 followers. So, the personal brand is 20 times more powerful. Now, put another way, if you're posting from a faceless business account, you are paying a 95% attention tax. Social media was never built to amplify business brands. That's why it's called social media. It's all about people reaching people.

So, if you want your business to get the maximum amount of attention and to be able to reach the maximum number of potential customers, you need to be posting as you, your personal brand, the same way that I'm talking to you now. You need to be the key person of influence for your business. You need to show up and pitch your business powerfully in an engaging way. You've got to publish regular content that hits on people's pain points, the things that they want to achieve, the obstacles that are in their way, the process for solving their problems. All of that stuff needs to go online. You want to be rated as a key person of influence in your industry. If you do that, everything flows smoothly from there.

So, get to the top of that pyramid. that 1% who post every single week, those are the people known as creators by the social media platforms. Let the platforms know that you're a creator. Don't be one of those audience members who's lurking in the shadows. Don't be someone who's a community member who's liking and sharing but not capturing attention for yourself. Get right up to the top. Be one of those top 1% of people who posts every single week as a key person of influence from a personal brand.

Now, if you want to do this really, really well and you want to fine-tune the strategy so you're not wasting time, come to my live workshop. I run a live workshop regularly. And what we do is we get three or 4 hundred entrepreneurs together in a Zoom call and it's live and I lay out the strategy step by step and then I open up for Q&A and we actually interact and we engage and people walk away from that with renewed energy, with clarity, with a clear strategy, right? And ready to go. So, I'd love for you to join me at my next live workshop and there's a link to register below.
