We have talked a lot about the Catholic style hierarchy and keys that are also contained mysteriously in the LDS church. And today, we are going to talk about the origin story of these doctrines. And they scripturally are almost exclusively in DNC 132.
Now, DNC 32, as you know, is the infamous section of the Doctrine of Covenants that introduces polygamy as a doctrine of God. Or, in other words, it says here in DNC 132, verse one, that God has justified his servants Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Moses, David, and Solomon as touching the principle and doctrine of having many wives and concubines. But fascinatingly, along with polygamy, there were a whole other host of doctrines that are introduced in DNC 132 that completely flipped the script on keys in the kingdom.
Now, there's a quote that I love by John Calvin. It says, "Scripture bears upon the face of it sufficient evidence of its authority." That's a mouthful. Probably the better quote here would be, "All scripture contains within itself the evidence of its own authenticity." This basically means every scripture you have the ability to test for itself and to know whether it is of God or not. So, this is again, this is the seed. This we talked about a couple videos ago. The seed seeds are keys, and they must be planted in your heart. And real seeds can be tested, and they must be tested. And so, you're you're not meant to just take a book of scripture and go, "Oh yeah, I believe that whole thing. Good job. I'm in the celestial kingdom." God gives you seeds so that you can plant them, and so you can grow those up within you so that you can become a new creature.
Now, there's this quote in the Times and Seasons, volume five. This is attributed to Joseph Smith. Um, I'm not sure if it is or not, but it was a quote during his lifetime. It was published in the Times and Seasons. And interestingly enough, this quote comes from an article that is denying that, uh, the doctrines of polygamy or spiritual wifery or anything like that are practiced in the LDS church at all. And this quote says, "If any man writes to you or preaches to you doctrines contrary to the Bible, the Book of Mormon, or the Book of Doctrine and Covenants, set him down as an impostor." Pretty stunning that they're basically telling you this is during Joseph Smith's life. Look, if you want to know if something's real or not, go compare it to the body of scripture.
Now, I love this visual in The Lord of the Rings. Um, this is from The Fellowship of the Rings, the very beginning. Uh, Gandalf, uh, you remember, goes to Bilbo, and, uh, Bilbo shows him the ring, and he looks, and he sees that they're writing on the ring. And Gandalf, uh, seems to remember there's something about that. And so he goes, uh, he goes and rides off, and he gets to this library. Uh, you can tell it's, uh, not visited much by many people, but he goes and digs through the records to find out what the truth of the matter is. And he does find that out by visiting there. I think J.R.R. Tolkien did this very much on purpose. He's showing the importance of the existing record of God that God's already given us, which people love to ignore and just say, "Well, no, I got the Holy Spirit. I can ignore all scripture." God gives you talents so you can use them. And the body of scripture that we have is of enormous worth, and a talent doesn't even approach the value of it.
Acts 17:11 said, "These were more noble than those in Thessalonica in that they received the word with all readiness of mind and searched the scriptures daily whether those things were so." So, it's what we're talking about here. You take whatever seed that you have, and you have to compare it to the body of the word of God and what you already know to be true. And you're supposed to. Now, this is a far bigger deal than you imagine, because this entire fight is fought, is won or lost based on the seeds and the planting of them in the soul.
So, as we talked about, the whole battleground is your soul. The kingdom of God has to be within you. If it's not, then you don't have the kingdom of God. You can't go into some external kingdom of God. So, your soul has always been the battleground from the Garden of Eden till today. And this battle is actually fought by planting seeds within your heart. Um, these seeds are contained in the word of God, as we know.
So, we got from part two, we talked about Nephi's vision with an angel, and the angel told him, he gave him this panoramic view, uh, from his time until the end of the earth. And he showed how Jesus came in the meridian of time, and he brought the word of God. And he showed, he showed how what Satan attacked was not the apostles as much as it was, he attacked and changed the word of God. And that is the great and abominable church. It's their playbook. It's what they do. Um, they introduce stumbling blocks that blind the eyes, harden the hearts, and bring people into captivity. And these stumbling blocks are attacking directly the word of God. That's what Satan's so threatened about.
This is exactly, by the way, what the parable of the wheat and the tares talks about in Matthew 13. This, this parable is going to, by the end of this presentation, is going to mean something different to you than it did before. But the parable says, "Another parable put he forth unto them, saying, 'The kingdom of heaven is likened unto a man which sowed good seed in his field.'" We already know from the parable of the sower that that man is Jesus, and the seed that he sowed is the word of God. But while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat and went his way. But when the blade was sprung up and brought forth fruit, then appeared the tares also. So the servants of the householder came and said unto him, "Sir, didst not thou sow good seed in thy field? From whence then hath it tares?" He said unto them, "An enemy hath done this." The servant said unto him, "Wilt thou then that we go and gather them up?" But he said, "Nay, lest while ye gather up the tares, ye root up also the wheat with them. Let both grow together until the harvest, and in the time of harvest, I will say to the reapers, Gather ye together first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them, but gather the wheat into my barn."
Okay. A lot of people love to say, "Well, the wheat and the tares, that's people, obviously, because at the bottom here, they're bound in bundles to burn them, and the wheat's gathered into the barn. So, obviously, it's not talking about doctrines. It's talking about people." Right? That's absolutely true. However, at the beginning of this parable, we're talking about a seed. And that seed, the word of God, is the origin of you becoming a tare or, um, or wheat. So, is it who is it a doctrine or is it, um, or is it people? Well, it's both. It's both. You have to understand that. But it starts with that seed. It starts with the word of God. It starts with doctrine. It starts with truth. And whether or not you're going to make that a part of you, and whether you're going to become that truth, whether you're going to become the fruit. All right.
So, spoiler: Satan planted tares in plain sight at the restoration. Now, like I said, it was not just polygamy. We like to think of DNC 32 as polygamy, but when we talk about the priesthood hierarchical keys that are talked about in the LDS church, these come almost exclusively from DNC 132. There's all kinds of new doctrine that is introduced here in DNC 132 that didn't exist anywhere in scripture prior to this time.
Now, we'll just give a list of those, and then we're going to dive into a few of them. But for example, it, the new and everlasting covenant was changed to be marriage. Um, we were introduced to these Catholic-style keys. It's all about priesthood power and keys and authority, and that they are all focused in one man. We'll show that this becomes a hierarchical priesthood because it has to, has to be, has to go in through another person. Um, these priesthood keys, uh, according to DNC 32, are given by divine appointment. Um, in DNC 132, we have doctrines that say that a woman is a possession of her husband, and that they are actually subservient. That man is actually the central phys, central figure for exaltation. Women are sealed to a man instead of God, and then they together can come into the kingdom. But women can't without being sealed to a man. We're taught that exaltation is based on this covenant that you have, not righteousness before God. Um, that you actually have guaranteed exaltation through this sealing power. And it also teaches you that you can be saved in your sins if you are sealed. And of course, oh, polygamy, yes, talks about that. Um, and it says that polygamy is necessary for salvation. And anybody who's taught this, it has to live it. And also that God, he amazingly approves of concubines.
So, let's review really quickly from part six. We talked about the difference between mystical keys and real and practical keys. As we've started to set up here, these mystical keys are taught in DNC 132. Um, they are undetectable. They're external. They're passed via human lines of authority. And it focuses an enormous amount of authority or power in very few people. Um, this is hierarchical in nature, and it just, it just puts people between us and God. There's a focus on ordinances. There has to be, and there's a promise of something later. This keeps us in a box and says, "Well, as long as you stay in the box, you're going to be safe and secure," and introduces the concept of, "Well, all is well in Zion because I got everything I need here." And this becomes an enormous stumbling block. It's, it's the stumbling block that Satan places to keep people out of the kingdom of God.
Whereas what Jesus taught were real and practical keys that are detectable. They're testable. You can experiment on them. These keys have the potential of producing, uh, fruit, and you can produce evidence of the authenticity of these keys. They're internal in nature, within your heart. So you can know exactly for yourself. You don't have to believe somebody else. These are sharable. You, you know, once you have that fruit, you can, you can spread the seeds of those fruit abroad. These connect us to God and reveal his mysteries and produce a mighty change of heart, produce a new creature, and by their nature, they cast out Satan. They heal and affect and free us from the effects of the fall and help us to look and act and become just like Jesus. So, these are very, very different. Um, people love to say, "Well, you know, yes, they're both true." Uh, no, they're, it's like night and day. Absolutely like night and day. You, they both can't exist together because the existence of these mystical keys and having to go through man, actually, because the way is so narrow, um, and it's straight, and Jesus is the keeper of the gate, as we know. Um, mystical keys introduce these stumbling blocks that make it so that you can never get to God. And the real and practical keys, plain and simple, are the way to God.
So, Christ's gospel, it, it just never changes. It's described as a rock. Um, his doctrine is a rock. Satan's playbook, on the other hand, also never changes. And you can detect it, just like you can detect Jesus's gospel. It's always the same. Uh, think the Great and Abominable Church that was described in general terms by the angel to Nephi. Um, he's telling you, here's what the Great and Abominable Church looks like. Here's what they do. They, they, they put people into bondage. They introduce stumbling blocks. They, um, they take away the word of God. They make the word of God of no importance. And so you get that in Nephi's vision. And you also in 2 Nephi 28 were given all these keys to detecting Satan's gospel. And the fact is, all false churches gravitate in that direction. It's not exclusive to the LDS church. But you can see that all false churches, Satan's doctrines, the same. And he basically owns churches. He loves churches, um, because it puts you in this box and it keeps you from connecting to God. And they all gravitate in the same direction.
So, in general, we're taught in the scriptures the keys to detecting Satan's doctrines. Now, we'll start going through some of these Catholic-style keys that are introduced first in, uh, DNC 132.
So, as far as these keys, we get in verse 7, "I have appointed unto my servant Joseph to hold this power." Okay? Okay. "And there is never but one on earth at a time on whom this power and the keys of this priesthood are conferred." So, this is very fragile because there's one guy at a time, right? Verse 19, "Unto whom I have appointed this power and the keys of this priesthood." Sounds so holy, right? "The prophets who held the keys of this power. For I have conferred upon you the keys and power of this priesthood. I have endowed him with the keys of the power of this priesthood. And if you do anything in my name and according to my law and my word, he will not commit sin, and I will justify him." Okay? And again, "Verily, verily, I say unto you, that if any man has a wife who holds the keys of his power, and he teaches unto her the law of my priesthood as pertaining to these things, then shall she believe and administer unto him, or she shall be destroyed." You see how damning it is to go against a person with this type of doctrine.
Now, this is actually opposed to everything that Joseph had taught about, um, real priesthood prior to that. For example, in DNC 121, um, it teaches that the rights of the priesthood are inseparably connected with the powers of heaven. Meaning that priesthood is supposed to have a power element to it, but that the powers of heaven cannot be controlled nor handled only upon the principles of righteousness. That they may be conferred upon us. It is true. But when we undertake to cover our sins, to gratify our pride or vain ambition, or to exercise control or dominion or compulsion, we just read that in verse 64, upon the souls of the children of men in any degree of unrighteousness, behold, the heavens withdraw themselves. The Spirit of the Lord is grieved, and when it is withdrawn, amen to the priesthood of the authority of that man. Okay? For a natural man, having a connection to God is exceedingly difficult. Okay? So it's not like it's not like a pope or a, uh, a prophet and revelator who just are conferred this power and they just got it. It's a lifetime thing. It's not how it works. Um, not with a natural man. It doesn't work that way. Um, Joseph taught the Relief Society. Uh, we've read this before. President Smith rose, read the 14th chapter of Ezekiel. Ezekiel said the Lord had declared by the prophet that the people should each one stand for himself and depend on no man or men. In that state of corruption of the Jewish church, that righteous persons could only deliver their own souls. Applied it to the present state of the church of the Latter-day Saints. Oh, really? So he's saying this is exactly like before, same pattern, that you're not supposed to depend on any other man or prophet, myself included. And especially that righteous person should can deliver their own souls. Said the people had departed from the Lord, that they must fall, that they were depending on the prophet, hence they were darkened in their minds from neglect of themselves. Okay, this is very different than what's taught in DNC 132.
And then we get Joseph to the Relief Society in 1842, where he said, "There are many that are disposed to do evil in secret and say that the church will never know it. But God knows of it and will reveal it all. If any come to you and tell you that a man must have more than one wife, and you must believe it or be damned, believe it not. It is false doctrine." Well, isn't that amazing? That's exactly, exactly opposed to verse 64 of DNC 132. Take a look at that on the screen. DNC 132:64 says, "Then shall she believe it and minister unto him, or she shall be destroyed." Joseph said in 1842, "If somebody preaches that you must believe it and be destroyed, believe it not. It is false doctrine." Okay, those are completely opposite. All right.
In verse, in part five, we talked about how the Doctrine of Covenants, if you were to map this out, and we did map it out, um, that all of the authority and the power, um, of these structures that are set up by the church, um, they all depend on common consent of the members. They are centralized in the members. Um, and yet, in reality, what we have in the modern LDS hierarchical church is exactly what the, uh, Catholic church has, where it puts members at the very, very bottom, and it puts the First Presidency at the top, or the Pope, or whoever you want to say, at the very top. And why is that? Well, it's because of what it says in DNC 132, verse 7.
Now, it talks in here about "him who is anointed, both as well as for time and for all eternity." And it says, "Any any contracts, any bonds, obligations, oath, vows, whatever that is not through this one person who is anointed both for time and for all eternity. And that too must be holy, most holy by revelation and commandment through the medium of mine anointed." Who's this "mine anointed" we're talking about? "Whom I have appointed unto the earth to hold this power. And I have appointed unto my servant Joseph to hold this power in the last days. And there is never but one on earth at a time on whom this power and the keys of this priesthood are conferred." "Are of no efficacy, virtue, or force in and after the resurrection of the dead, for all contracts that are not made under this end have an end when men are dead." Okay? So, for the very first time, God is saying, if you don't go through this guy, who is mine anointed, and he's not talking about Christ, if you don't go through this guy, then when you die, anything you did doesn't, doesn't count.
So, it's stunning to me that DNC 32 talks about "mine anointed," and he's not talking about Christ. Now, you can certainly be anointed. You can certainly, and that's been the case before. You had, in the law of Moses, you had Aaron, who and his sons, who were anointed, whatever. Um, you have kings in the Old Testament that are anointed. But when we're talking about "my anointed," this is talking about things as if this person is Christ. And indeed, that's what it's setting up. Um, because there it says, "There is never but one on earth on whom this power and the keys of this priesthood are conferred." As we've talked about, this is exactly the Vicar of Christ concept of the Pope. Meaning, Vicar of Christ really means, Vicar means a substitute or representative of Christ. Meaning that, well, God's checked out, Christ isn't here, but he set up this man, and you have to go through him, or else you're damned. Okay?
So, DNC 132:7 is the exact place where a Vicar of Christ is set up in the LDS church that says, "If you don't go through him and through his keys, you can't get to me. It doesn't matter how righteous you are. It doesn't matter how much you followed the spirit. You didn't do that. And so, you can't get to me." Okay? So, this is where this arm of the flesh keys are is introduced. Again, these keys, undetectable, external, enormous authority or power. And if there's the one person at the top, then there has to be a hierarchy below him because that one person is not going to accomplish everything. But, and so he shares his quote-unquote keys with everybody else, just like the Pope does, and it puts us at the bottom.
So, the Book of Mormon has this covenant theology that is Christ-centered and simple. Whereas DNC 132's covenant theology is legalistic, hierarchical, ritualistic. It adds this system of ordinances and contracts and dependence on human priesthood holders. And it just sounds so much like the law of Moses, because it is. It's just like the law of Moses. Um, we reject God directly and we say, "No, you, you tell us what to do, prophet," um, and we put them between us and God, which is called idolatry.
So, you can pause this slide if you want to, and you can see how what is introduced here is exactly these mystical keys. And this is where they are first introduced in scripture in the last days, and it's codified in DNC 132. So, this is the Catholic playbook. This is also the Pharisee and Sanhedrin playbook. Uh, this is harsh bondage, just like the law of Moses. This is Satan's gospel, and you can see that it just never changes. If he, if Satan did this before, time and time and time again, and we got freed from it, why, why do you think that this time around it's different? Oh, but this time it's God, not Satan. Uh, Jesus did not teach this style of keys, as we've established many times.
Okay, let's talk a little bit about the new and everlasting covenant in DNC 132. Stunningly, we have the new and everlasting covenant, which has been previously defined in scripture, and it is redefined again in DNC 32, and it's completely different this time around. Um, and, and it's over and over and over again in DNC 32 talks about this new and everlasting covenant, and it's a marriage, and it's being sealed in the new and everlasting covenant. And I want to go back to the origins of the new and everlasting covenant so you can understand what it really is. Um, it's, the new and everlasting covenant is not an LDS, um, that the original one is not an LDS concept. And really, it's, there are very few things that are more important than understanding what this really is, because it's talking about the covenant that God wants to make with you.
When you look at the binding on your New Testament, it says New Testament, and that testament word is diatheke. Um, it's a Greek word. It should have been translated as covenant, and instead, it's, it's testament. So, it doesn't mean as much to you as it could otherwise. But you have the Old Testament, or the Old Covenant, which was the law of Moses, which was the performances and ordinances, which Christ said were done away in him in favor of a new covenant that he made with the children of Israel. So, this new covenant is so important for people to understand it. We skip over it. And unfortunately, the reason that the LDS church skips over this new covenant is because they've redefined it, and they think that that new covenant is over an altar in an LDS temple with you and your spouse, and that that's how you get into the new covenant. Well, that's not it at all. And it's very, very different.
Now, this covenant is so important. Um, that's the reason that Satan hates it, and it's the reason he attacks it, and he corrupts it, and he redefines it. And if there's nothing more damnable than that, for you to take the most important covenant on this earth, the very thing that God is asking you to get into covenant with him, and redefine it as something else, that's a, I mean, that is a brilliant stroke by the enemy. It really, really is.
Oh, and by the way, so strongest coordinates, um, in the King James version of the Bible, this diatheke 20 times is defined as, is translated as covenant, and only 13 times as testament. And I'll show you that almost every time this should be defined or should read covenant. For example, in Hebrews 8, it talks about, "He said, 'Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah.'" Okay, so this is also, if you look, this is the diatheke, Greek word, covenant. Uh, "Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand and led them out of the land of Egypt; because they continued not in my covenant, and I regarded them not, saith the Lord." He said, "Well, you rejected me back then. I wanted to make this covenant, this new covenant with you, but you rejected it." "For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts; and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people."
Okay, from video number one, what did we say? We said the battleground is within you. That's where it is, in your heart and in your mind, in your soul. And God's just saying, that's what the new covenant's all about. I'm going to make you a new creature. I'm going to change everything for you. I'm going to change your heart. I'm going to change your mind. I'm going to make it so that you no longer desire to sin. And I'm going to baptize you with the Holy Ghost.
2 Corinthians chapter 3 says, "Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think anything as of ourselves; but our sufficiency is of God." This is Paul talking. Paul says, "Who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament." Now, this should have been translated "new covenant." He's, Paul is saying, "I'm a minister of the new covenant." What is he saying? Well, he's saying, "I'm bringing the word of God to you." That is a covenant, and I, and this is the whole reason we're ministers of this covenant. We're to show you what this covenant is that God's given you. So, Paul was taking that covenant to people. And it wasn't marriage. And he says, "Not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life." "But if the ministration of death, he's talking about the old covenant, written and engraven in stones, was glorious, so that the children of Israel could not steadfastly behold the face of Moses for the glory of his countenance; which glory was to be done away." He's saying the new covenant is, if the old covenant was like that, then the new covenant is far, far greater. This is the whole purpose of the apostles going out. They're teaching the people what the new covenant is. And it's not marriage. Okay.
So, and how important is this new covenant? Well, it's so important that John the Baptist was sent beforehand to herald the coming of the new covenant, not just Christ, but what Christ was bringing. So, John the Baptist, this herald of the new covenant, um, he goes forward. We already know Paul and all the apostles are ministers of this new covenant. And as John the Baptist comes, Matthew chapter 1, um, and we get this all four gospels. At the beginning of all four gospels, we get John who's saying what's coming. So, and he's not just saying Jesus, he's saying what he's bringing. He's talking about the new covenant. He said, "I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost and with fire." In Mark chapter 1, and preaching say it, saying, "There cometh one mightier after me, the latchet of whose shoes I am not worthy to stoop down and unloose. I indeed have baptized you with water; but he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost." Okay, same thing. He's talking about this what Jesus is bringing as part of the new covenant.
In Luke 3, John answered saying unto them all, "I indeed baptize you with water; but one mightier than I cometh, whose latchet of whose shoes I am not worthy to unloose: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost and with fire." This is the promise of the new covenant. John chapter 1. "This is he of whom I said, After me cometh a man which is preferred before me: for he was before me. And I knew him not: but he that sent me to baptize with water, the same said unto me, Upon whom thou shalt see the Spirit descending, and remaining on him, the same is he which baptizeth with the Holy Ghost." Okay.
And then we get Jesus who's teaching the new covenant, and he says very directly to Nicodemus the very same thing that John is telling us that he would teach. Jesus answered, "Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God." You have to become a new creature. You have to become a new person and have God in your heart.
The Book of Mormon teaches this very plainly in multiple places. It teaches it in 2 Nephi 31. Teaches it in 3 Nephi 11. Teaches it in Alma 5. It teaches it from page 1 to 5:31 of the Book of Mormon. It is everywhere. But here's a really good summary in Third Nephi chapter 9. In verse 19, um, God speaking before Jesus comes to the people in the land bountiful, and he says of the old covenant, "And ye shall offer up unto me no more the shedding of blood; yea, your sacrifices and your burnt offerings shall be done away, for I will accept none of your sacrifices and your burnt offerings." So, that old covenant is being done away. And the new covenant, in verse 20, "And ye shall offer for a sacrifice unto me a broken heart and a contrite spirit. And whoso cometh unto me with a broken heart and a contrite spirit, him will I baptize with fire and with the Holy Ghost." These are the terms of the new covenant. And the Book of Mormon, better than any book, teaches what that looks like. Of course, we ignore it.
Really, this is what we've been talking about the whole time. That this whole, the whole thing that Jesus brings is the ability to change you from a natural man, from being blind, from being in captivity, from having a hard heart, into being born of the Spirit, having a mighty change of heart, into being a new creature in Christ, and having a direct connection with God, having a soft heart. And so, in Jeremiah 31, Jeremiah's prophesying of it. So, we get prophets that are prophesying, "This is going to come someday. You're going to, you're, it's going to be brand new." And then you have John the Baptist says, "It's here." And then you have Jesus that says, "This is what it is." And then you have the apostles that say, "We're ministers of the new covenant." And here's what Jeremiah says about it.
"But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be to them a God, and they shall be my people. And they shall teach no more every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them." Very consistent in scripture what this new covenant is. And this is a new and everlasting covenant. Even Isaiah refers to this as the everlasting covenant. Unfortunately, in Isaiah 24:5, he prophesies that we are going to change and break the everlasting covenant. It says in verse 5, "The earth also is defiled under the inhabitants thereof because they have transgressed the laws, changed the ordinance, broken the everlasting covenant." Okay, this is a prophecy of Isaiah. He says, "Coming up now, you can't break an everlasting covenant. You can't change that unless you've already had it." Who is it that has changed the everlasting covenant? Can you think of who that might be that that has the everlasting covenant, that defined it, and then went and changed the definition of it? Can you think about it?
Okay, Isaiah is saying that the earth is defiled by the inhabitants. Why? Because they're not living up to the covenant. They don't have God in their heart. And so they're all pollutions. As Mormon says in the Book of Mormon, we're all pollutions. Um, we haven't changed. We have nothing to do with God, and we actually pollute the earth. The earth is better than we are because because we're so filled with Satan. Um, and then it talks about this again. Isaiah is referring to this as an everlasting covenant. What does everlasting mean? It means it's not going to change anymore. Okay? So, we had the old covenant, which is administration of death. We have an old covenant that is this system of performances and ordinances and legal stuff and people and hierarchies and everything else. And God's saying, "Well, I'm going to bring forth an everlasting covenant." And that's a covenant that doesn't change. And so, you don't have to worry anymore about getting, getting a new covenant because this one's everlasting. An everlasting covenant by definition doesn't change.
Now, I just want to say, by the way, if the Book of Mormon didn't teach this same covenant, we could easily and should reject it as a fraud. This teaching of the covenant, what it is, how to get into the covenant, um, what it looks like, how, what you become by living that covenant, um, is the most important teaching in scripture. It's plain and simple. As Nephi said, it is as plain as words can be. Um, but, but then again, Satan loves giving you whatever you want. And he gives us more or less, I guess.
So, let's read this in DNC 132 and see if it matches the new and everlasting covenant as described all over the place in scripture. "Verily, verily, I say unto you, if a man marry a wife according to my word, and they are sealed by the Holy Spirit of promise, according to mine appointment, meaning according to my guy, and he shall, he or she shall commit any sin or transgression of the new and everlasting covenant, whatever, and all manner of blasphemies. And if they commit no murder, wherein they shed innocent blood, yet they shall come forth in the first resurrection, and enter their exaltation. But they shall be destroyed in the flesh, and shall be delivered to the buffetings of Satan unto the day of redemption, saith the Lord God."
Um, that looks a lot different than the covenant we're talking about. And in fact, it gives you license to sin. In fact, it basically says, "Got to go through man, got to get this, got to get this sealing, and then you can kind of do whatever you want to, um, once you're sealed up to this." Um, and it says you, you can do that. You can go ahead and sin, and you're going to enter into your exaltation, um, and, uh, unto the day of redemption. So, um, if this isn't, if this scripture right here, if this verse here isn't maybe the most blasphemous thing in all of scripture, I don't know what is. Um, this teaches and gives license for sin. There are all kinds of apologists who go and they, they bend over backwards and they do backflips in their mind to try to justify how this could possibly be a God and how this doesn't mean exactly what it says. But it does. And there's no other place in scripture where God says, "Yeah, um, you get to a certain point, and then I'm just going to justify all your sin." It doesn't exist. Uh, God never excuses sin.
I did a series of video, a couple videos, I should say, about a year and a half ago, I think, where I talked about salvation cheat codes, and that these apparently, like, this new and everlasting covenant marriage, people feel like, "Well, I got married in the temple, and so now I get to go to the highest degree of the celestial kingdom, and I don't even have to do the first step which is required to get into the kingdom of God, which is broken, contrite spirit and complete obedience to God and actually being righteous and overcoming all desire to sin." And so, of all people, LDS people believe that they kind of have a free pass to not go after with all of their heart the real, uh, new and everlasting covenant, but they go after marriage instead. And they put all their focus on that, and they, they end up missing the mark greatly because they've gone far beyond it, as it says in Jacob 4:14. Um, but in scripture, the whole body of scripture has, all the way up to DNC 132, has taught completely against, um, the terms of the DNC 132 new and everlasting covenant of marriage. For example, in DNC 20, it says, "And we know also that sanctification, through the grace of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, is just and true to all those who love and serve God with all their might, mind, and strength. But there is a possibility that a man may fall from grace and depart from the living God." Basically saying that, um, you can always fall. You can always fall. You can always depart from God, and he's not going to justify you. Whereas in DNC 132, it says, "Yeah, he'll justify you in your sin. He'll justify you."
Alma 7 says, "Neither can filthiness, or anything which is unclean, be received into the kingdom of God. He who is filthy shall remain in his filthiness." Alma 13 says that there were a number of people according to the holy order who had exceeding faith and repentance and their, um, their righteousness before God, they choosing to repent and work righteousness rather than to perish. Says, "Therefore, they could not look upon sin save it were with abhorrence." It wasn't even in their nature to sin. That's what a man or woman of God is like. And in Alma 34, it talks about it says, "This time is the life to prepare to meet God. And if you, if you don't overcome in this life, today is the day for men to perform their labors. And if we don't improve our time while in this life, then cometh the night of darkness, wherein there could be no labor performed. And the same spirit which doth possess your bodies at the time that you are out of this life, you go out of this life, the same spirit will have power to possess your body in that eternal world." And we have elsewhere in the Book of Mormon says that wickedness is restored to wickedness, and righteousness is restored to righteousness. Who you are in this life really matters. DNC 32, incredible blasphemous teaching that sin has, that sin can be, that dying in your sins, you can be, you can be saved. And very, very clear in all scripture that is just not the case.
So, because of, um, the craziness of what is in DNC 32, even the LDS church has denied much of what is there. I remember watching this interview with Larry King in 1998, and I was stunned when Larry King asked about polygamy, and President Hinckley said, "I condemn it. Yay. Yes, as a practice, because I think it is not doctrinal." Okay. So, you got to compare that to DNC 132:1, where apparently, if this is God's word, God says, "As touching the principle and doctrine of there having many wives and concubines." So, God calls this, well, whatever God this is that's introducing this, calls it a principle and a doctrine, which would mean it's, he owns it. And then in verse 4, he said, "For behold, I reveal unto you a new and everlasting covenant; and if ye abide not that covenant, then ye are damned." So, on the one hand, you have President Hinckley that says, "No, I don't think it's doctrinal," and yet you have scripture that the LDS church has adopted, um, that claims very strongly this is a doctrine, and if you don't, if you don't live it, you're going to be damned.
Then we have going on in verse 62 of, uh, DNC 132, it says, "And if he have ten virgins given unto him by this law, he cannot commit adultery, for they belong to him, and they are given unto him." That's interesting. So, we have this language that says that women are given unto men, and they belong to him. And from probably, I don't know, 1840 something to 2019, so this is 170, 175 years in the temple, um, it was taught that women belong to men, and women would make a covenant to obey their husbands as they obey God, as their husbands obey God. Women would not make covenants directly with God. And by the temple endowment and the temple covenants that were made there, women did not covenant with God until January of 2019, where it was changed, where now women covenant directly with God, and there's gender parity. Well, the question is, is DNC 132:62 wrong, or so that that's not real scripture? That's not the word of God, and we can ignore it now, or, or what's going on? I'm not quite sure. So, I, I thought that DNC 32 said that this doctrine was everlasting. And what does that mean? What does that word mean, everlasting? If DNC 32 doctrine is not sustainable, even according to the LDS church itself, then either one, it's not the truth and never was the word of God, or two, the LDS church is preaching against God's word. I don't know that there's any other option here. That's pretty amazing.
So, the fruits of DNC 32 are clearly not good, and even the church admits it. Now, this is pretty amazing. As I was going through a deep dive on DNC 132, I started noticing similarities to the language in 2 Nephi 28. And I thought to myself, I wonder if 2 Nephi 28 is directly prophesying about the coming of DNC 132. And so, let's go through and look. And it's pretty amazing what Nephi teaches here. It's almost like Nephi saw what was coming in the last days and decided to put a stunning commentary or prophecy against that in 2 Nephi 28.
So, for example, in 2 Nephi 28:5, it says, "The Lord hath, that people in the last days would say, that God no longer is here, and the Lord hath given his power unto men." In verse 7 of DNC 32, it says, as we've talked about, this language, "by him who is anointed," and "there is never one, there's never but one on earth that has the keys to this power." So, this is a direct fulfillment of what Nephi said was coming.
Then in verse 8, we have, "Eat, drink, and be merry; nevertheless, fear God, he will justify in committing a little sin." So, he said that in the last days. And by the way, who's the Book of Mormon talking to? Is he talking to some group of Catholics that isn't going to read it, or is he talking to LDS people? Is he talking to people who have the Book of Mormon in their hands? I think he's talking to us. So, maybe we wake up and go, "Oh, maybe Nephi is actually saying this to us instead of to somebody who's not reading the book." I don't know. So, again, Nephi says that people are going to preach that God will justify in committing a little sin, which is just what we went over.
Verse 26, and then DNC 132 says, "If they commit any sin or transgression, and all manner of blasphemies, yet they shall come forth in the first resurrection." So, it's exactly a fulfillment of what it says in verse 8. Then in verse 9 again, it says, "There is no harm in sin; and if it be that we are guilty, God will beat us with a few stripes, and at last we shall be saved in the kingdom of God." Okay. And then in verse 26 of DNC 132, it says, "They shall be delivered unto the buffetings of Satan unto the day of redemption, saith the Lord God." Oh my gosh. Is that a direct fulfillment of Nephi's prophecy or what? "God will beat us with a few stripes." "They shall be delivered unto the buffetings of Satan." "At last, we shall be saved in the kingdom of God." "Unto the day of redemption." "They shall enter into their exaltation." That's exactly what it says. That is stunning. All right.
Verse 10, "And their work shall be in the dark." Okay, coming out of this whole DNC 132 thing, we have Brigham's temple theology where the polygamist marriages were hidden from the world behind secret signs, oaths, covenants, and they were blood oaths where you would swear by your throat, um, that you would not reveal, um, what was taught in the temple. And what was being taught in the
temple? Well, polygamy. Well, these doctrines of a woman being subservient to her husband, where it was taught that you had to be subservient to the prophet, where it was taught that polygamy was taught, and in the world it was denied that that's what they were teaching and what they were doing.
So, Nephi says, "In our day, the works shall be in the dark." And that's indeed the origin of the signs and tokens and oaths and blood oaths that were done that have been done in the temple. Now, things are much different today. Again, all this stuff has been changing to make it a little bit more palatable, but it doesn't change the fact that these things are done in the dark, that these things are not shown to the world, that there's no light that is shed on this to examine it in the world.
Okay. Verse 13, "they robbed the poor because of their fine sanctuaries." Amazing. So, today is an even better example of what's going on than ever before because we have literally hundreds of temples being built with the very finest materials. There is zero, zero, zero effort on building Zion where there is no poor among them. There is a focus on temples, getting people into these fine temples, and these just are not the works of Christ. And Nephi himself is condemning this very directly in verse 13.
Then verse 14, "they will practice abominations and whoredoms." Wow. Okay. So, what is the definition of abomination and whoredom in the Book of Mormon? Well, Jacob chapter 2 and Jacob chapter 3. Abominations and whoredoms are polygamy, the doctrine of wives and many concubines, which is very, very directly condemned by the Lord, by Jacob, and by the Book of Mormon. In fact, there is no book of scripture, especially, that condemns polygamy more than the Book of Mormon. And the definition of this practice by Jacob, by the Lord, is called an abomination and whoredom. So, it says there, polygamy is a wickedness according to God, whoredom and abomination.
But in verse 61 of DNC 132, it says, "if any man espouse a virgin and desire to espouse another, then he is justified." Are you kidding me? Jesus himself said, "Whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart." And basically, DNC 132 says, "Hey, if you've got some desires for that woman, go for it. You're justified." I just don't know if there's anything that is more anti-Christ, more anti-his doctrine, more anti-what God's trying to make you than what is taught in DNC 132. It's amazing. And there's really no better commentary against that than 2 Nephi 28 and the Book of Mormon as a whole.
So, in summary, DNC 132 doctrines are clearly condemned by the Book of Mormon, the Bible, and Jesus himself. They command you to trust in the arm of the flesh. They give you license to sin. They set up hierarchies of men. They deny the doctrine of Christ. They change the new and everlasting covenant into an abomination. What other church has changed the new and everlasting covenant like Isaiah prophesied of? I don't know of another church that changes the definition of the new and everlasting covenant. Pretty direct. All of this is prophesied of directly in the Book of Mormon and Isaiah as well.
Okay. So, we're going to show you a little thing here. This is also a really cool visual about what's going on. So, as we showed in our second video on this series, when Jesus came, he introduced the new covenant, he introduced the new word of God. And what he was doing, according to the parable of the wheat and the tares, he was sowing wheat in a field. And this wheat is supposed to go into our hearts, right? And so, we have the apostles who are ministers of the new covenant. They're supposed to be helping us get that covenant into our hearts, into our minds. So, Jesus is doing that.
Well, what comes along immediately at the same time, and this is according to the parable of the wheat and the tares, Satan introduces his counterfeit doctrines. Satan sows tares. Satan, this is Satan's playbook 101. If truth comes forward, Satan counters it with false religious doctrines immediately. Now, where does Satan sow this doctrine? Does he go to another field? Like, as soon as Jesus sows his wheat seeds, does Satan go a couple miles over there and sow his tares in a different field? No. Satan sows in the same field, not another field. He puts it in the exact same field with Jesus's doctrines. So, in the example, the first time around, this was Catholic sacred traditions, canon law, and there's just all the spirits out there that at the same time that Jesus is coming, you have them coming up and opposing what Jesus taught. And we could see that during Jesus's life with the Pharisees and the Sadducees and the Sanhedrin, who were providing this opposition and teaching the doctrine of tares.
Now, what happened in the days of the restoration? We had new word of God introduced, and more wheat was sown. This was the Book of Mormon. What would you predict is going to happen at the same time that we get new light and understanding? Well, we get counterfeit doctrines introduced, especially in one big, huge revelation, DNC 132. I'm not saying there aren't others because there are, but DNC 132 especially. Satan is sowing tares. This again, Satan's playbook 101, it's the same thing. He does the same thing every time around. It's a pattern. If truth comes forward, Satan counters it with false religious doctrines. Satan sows in the same field. Of course, he's going to. Of course, he's going to.
So, we should expect that when light, new light comes, that Satan's going to try to plant, and he is going to plant seeds right next to it. And in fact, the prophecy of the parable of the wheat and the tares is talking about the last days. It's talking about our time. And so, it's saying that as new seeds come about from God, that Satan is going to sow false seeds at the same time. So, you can expect that. And so, we get things like DNC 13, DNC 132. We get the doctrines of blood atonement, signs and tokens. We get swearing by the throat. We get doctrines that say the prophet can't lead you astray. You've got to follow the prophet. Clearly, clearly Satan has sown his doctrines right next to the truth.
But the Book of Mormon is the antidote. And just because Satan sows tares in the field doesn't mean that there isn't wheat there. It doesn't mean that there's no truth. It doesn't mean that you throw the whole field out. You don't. You've got to take the true seeds out of it and nourish them and figure out what they are. That's for each one of us.
Okay. So, and we get a really good understanding why all this is necessary from Lehi. He says, "For it must needs be. It's very necessary that there is an opposition in all things. If not so, firstborn in the wilderness, righteousness could not be brought to pass, neither wickedness, neither holiness, nor misery, nor good, nor bad." This is all part of God's plan. He allows Satan to sow things right next to the good. And why does he do that? Well, because without it, you couldn't exercise faith.
And so, as I'm reading in Alma 13, I'm seeing time and time again where it talks about these people of God, who are called on account of their exceeding faith and good works. And again, it says, "Therefore they having chosen good and exercising exceedingly great faith on account of their faith, while others would reject the spirit of God on account of the hardness of their hearts and blindness of their minds." And it was on account of their exceeding faith and repentance and righteousness before God, they choosing to repent and work righteousness rather than to perish. There is a purpose for darkness. You can't exercise exceeding faith without the presence of exceeding opposition. It can't happen.
And so, people are just stunned by the fact that there's all this bad doctrine, all these bad things taught, and they think they look at leaders who are doing wrong and doing bad, and they just say, "Okay, well, I'm just going to throw out everything and not do anything." Well, clearly that's not exceeding faith. Exceeding faith would be going and testing the seeds and finding out what is of God and what is not, and then living it and repenting and exercising righteousness before God and overcoming the blindness of your heart and your eyes and understanding, and then going and changing the game. Yeah. Once you have that built up within you, once it's producing fruit, then you can spread that to other people. You don't throw it out. You don't throw everything out just because there's bad seeds in the field.
Okay, so this is how powerful the word of God is. We've read this a hundred times. First Nephi 15, Nephi's brother said to him, "What meaneth the rod of iron, which our father saw that led to the tree?" And Nephi said unto him, "That it was the word of God, and whoso would hearken unto the word of God, and would hold fast unto it, they would never perish. Neither could the temptations and fiery darts of the adversary overpower them unto blindness to lead them away to destruction."
So, this is the whole picture. Satan is trying to overpower you to blindness, trying to plant enough of the tares that you want to throw it all out, or you just don't care anymore, whatever it is. This whole fight right there, but it's fought and it's won with those seeds and with the word of God coming up within you.
Question is, what did you expect that Satan was going to roll over and admit defeat at the restoration? That Satan isn't going to plant tares this time around in plain sight in the same field? Did you expect that the church is somehow the exception to the rule? That you can let your guard down and trust in the arm of the flesh, even though the scripture is warning you to do the exact opposite? Did you think that you don't have to have a radical discernment in the last days? That you don't need the gifts and the power of the Holy Ghost as much or more than anyone else? Did you expect that you don't need to hold fast to the word of God? That God's word really isn't all that important and doesn't really mean what it says?
Are you still going to insist that all is well in Zion? You know, Satan loves "all is well in Zion" more than you know. It means he doesn't need to worry about you. It means you're blind. You're just like, "Oh, it's all good. It's all good." You know, I got my exaltation. I'm good. Nephi clearly is telling you that all is not well in Zion.
And then we get Moroni saying in Ether 8:24, "Wherefore the Lord commandeth you when you shall see these things." Okay, when you finally wake up, when you shall see these things come among you, that you shall awake to the sense of your awful situation. Now, this might be overwhelming to some. But if you look at the parable of the 10 virgins, it starts out, they're all asleep. Okay, that's where we start in the last days. Everybody's asleep. Everybody's deceived. Everybody doesn't understand. You wake up, and you've got to orient yourself a little bit, and you've got to trim your lamp, and you've got to get ready because the bridegroom is coming.
So, the kingdom of God has come near you. You still have the tools that you need. Now is the time to press into it. Now is the time to take hold of the word of God so that you won't be overcome. So that you can never be overcome by the temptations and the fiery darts of the adversary. It's all there. God's given you so much light. He's given you so much of his word. He's made it so that you can see. You're not supposed to give up at this point. You're supposed to wake up. You're supposed to trim your lamp. And it changes everything. You don't need to be in despair. God's given us these five talents. We're in a time of five talents, and now it's time for us to lay hold upon it and to change the game. Not only for us, but once we have grown this up within ourselves, then we can help other people and grow it up within them as well.
