We kind of have a big problem with our new house already. I know this setup's kind of weird with the bath behind the shower, but it's actually nice because it was allowing me to see that there's a leak back here. I'm not sure how well you guys can see it on video, but this was obviously patched again.
So, our inspector told us to ask the seller and see what happened here. What he told me is he saw some water spots on here and he thought that something was leaking, so they took this out, but nothing was leaking. It was completely bone dry and it was just from his daughter splashing in the tub. But, this is obviously still leaking when the shower turns on, so we're going to have to cut this out. That's kind of whatever, it's fixable, but this was the problem that we were really mad about. Let me show you guys a close-up. There's obvious water damage here and these baseboards were replaced.
When we talked to the seller about it, he said that they replaced these baseboards because they had to work on the pocket door. Something was wrong with it. But, when I called him and asked him about this again, he finally admitted that there was a leak behind that wall. Apparently, they had punctured a drainage pipe and this was just slowly leaking and he said they found mold back there and they completely remedied everything, but we're doing some more investigating and we found more mold behind this. You can see the water damage right here and if you look in those holes, you can actually see there's mold growing. They also have these things under the cabinets, which are completely full, so there's definitely a lot of moisture in there.
So, now we're having someone come out to check it out, but I'm going to get this cut open. Does anyone know is that even legal for them to like not disclose that before selling the house? Oh. The instructions. Nice. Bro. That was in there and that's like actually wet wet. I can actually write that. Yep. It's just dripping straight out of there. Yep. All right, we found the leak, so it definitely wasn't bone dry in here when he looked at this.
Luckily, the part that's leaking is just connected to this like extra little thing. So, if I turn this, it shouldn't leak anymore. But, the mold guy was just here and he said there's 100% mold in the back of this cabinet. Plus, he did a moisture reading and he said that there's definitely water going through here and all around the shower, which led us to under these stairs, where there's even more mold growth right there and a ton right here. That's disgusting.
I'm just really annoyed because the stuff they did find in the inspection, they told us to ask the seller about, and then he lied to us, and now that we've closed, he's come clean about what actually happened. So, we don't know what to do because they're saying we're going to have to rip our entire shower out and the vanity to get to the mold, probably the flooring, too. So, we're going to have to do a full bathroom renovation 30 days into moving into a 2-year-old house. So, let me know what you guys think we should do. But, stay tuned for a bathroom renovation.
