Marketing Series Part 3: Social Media

MEG Business Management8:27

Transcription

Everybody welcome back to part three of our marketing series on how to get more new business into your business. My name is Brian Gelger; I'm from Meg Business Management and Meg Academy.

The reason why I say those two is because Meg Business Management really focuses on credentialing and billing, and Meg Academy focuses on coaching and professional enhancement to get you to be successful whether you're a startup or an existing practice. So that's my little intro; let's get started on how you can actually get more patients through digital media.

You're going to need, in my opinion, some outsource resource to help you get the SEO, search engine optimization, that you deserve to be get noticed in your community. Okay, now I've done a lot of stuff myself; I'm a big, you know, do-it-yourselfer when I can. But as I've gotten older and hopefully a little bit wiser, I've started to realize that I shouldn't be dabbling in the areas that I don't have immense expertise in.

I'm going to be much more effective if, as a CEO, owner, treating therapist, whichever role you may be in right now, if you spend that time literally playing to your strengths, playing to the strengths of what a practice owner should be doing: how to procure more new patients, how to enhance that patient care experience, how to attract more good staff, and how to retain that great staff. Those are the things that are of most importance, and I would add to that giving back to your community and enhancing the experience within your society, your community within your region, your market. Right, you want to be known as a leader who gives back to the people in your community.

And one of the ways you can do all of that and reach all of those people in a cost-effective, timely manner is to have an extremely effective social media campaign, extremely effective digital media marketing strategy. Now here's some of the successful actions that we use with our clients to boost their practice, whether it's a startup, or if it's a second office expansion, or if it's your existing office. A lot of us know, like, yeah, I know I gotta post on Facebook, or I gotta post, you know, here or there, or do it. Okay, that's true, but it's what you do, how often you do it, and how good you're at, how good you are at doing it, right? So it's not just about the doing this; it's actually about everything else around it.

So I would like to give you one of our secrets that we make all of our clients learn about, and it's a book by Jessica and Ray Higdon, and the book is called *Freakishly Effective Social Media Marketing*, or I think it's called *Freakishly Effective Marketing*. Look it up; it's a good book. It's meant for multi-level marketers, but it talks about the different types of blogs and the different types of outreach. Now it's coming from multi-level marketing because that's the essence of everything for them to stay in business; it's not necessarily the case with you. You have referral sources and things like that to count on as well. But if you take that aggressive approach and learn what the what's in that book, it's going to be extremely effective for you. And I'm not going to belabor going over it all because I just gave you the the book: Jessica and Ray Higdon, *Freakishly Effective Social Media Marketing* or *Freakishly Effective Marketing*. I'm sorry, I can't remember the exact title, but I'll have it in the links below. We'll put in the links below since I'm murdering it here right now.

SEO: You, you, when you do it right, when people search for physical therapy in Spokane or physical therapy in Austin, you need to come up on that first page. You need to find a way to come up, and the way you do that is by being relevant and having other people talking about you as well. And the way that's done is through the use of backlinks; okay, having other people write about you and mention you in their blogs or in their articles or on their sites. Okay, forming those relationships is really effective in helping boost you up in the social media world. You blogging on a regular basis, you posting on a weekly basis, sometimes twice a week depending on what you're talking about and where it is, and having people comment on that—all of that's going to boost you up. It's not that hard if you're talking on the right channel and you're being relevant. Okay, you don't want to go out there and just be spamming your, you know, broad advertising yourself on a social media channel, so people aren't going to want to listen; you're not going to get followers and likes and things like that.

But if you add value, like I hope you feel this YouTube channel is giving you, you know, my podcast, *Physical Therapy Secrets at Top 10 Percent*, has been labeled as the—not the one or only—I don't mean it that way—but we've built the reputation of, hey, when you listen to that podcast for that 20 to 30 minutes, for that 20 to 40 minutes—I'm kind of all over the place with that; I'm usually right around 30 minutes—you're going to walk away with applicable tools. I mean, I'm not just going to give you bright ideas and things to think with; I'm literally going to give you something that you can do and apply the next day that's gonna yield you some results for free. And I hope you feel that about this YouTube channel. I mean, that's what I'm going for; that's what I'm I'm trying to do in this five-part series on marketing, this being part three. I'm trying to give you things that people are in our academy working with and succeeding with. I can't possibly shower all of that to you; um, there's hours of content there; it's 24/7, and people just really budget two to three hours, two to four hours a week on their study, and then they apply it each week into their practice, and they get tremendous results, which I'm very proud of. But I'm trying to give you a tidbit of that here on this channel.

And the big thing here is being able to work those relationships, put those blogs out there, know from the book the the five different types of posts and blogs and how you communicate them. I think you're going to find that you're going to get tremendously quick results if you do that. In the next part, we're going to talk about building your website a little bit with it, with an infrastructure of success. The website has to dovetail with your marketing strategy, which has to dovetail with your personal and professional philosophy.

Now I'm going to end with this last successful action, this last social media marketing strategy: It's not always about the doing this and what you send out; it's about the organization of it too. So here's my secret: Create a Google Calendar that has a two-month campaign, so the month you're in and the month you will be going into as you move through that month and it ends, the new month comes in, so you're always two months out. If you're two months out on a social media marketing calendar, then you have your planned actions for the whole entire month and into the next month already laid out. If you're just flying by the seat of your pants, putting things out on a whim, you know, just whenever, it's going to come across like that. You need to have an organized, thought-out approach on the messaging you want to send out so people can follow it, they can follow along with you. Obviously, this is a third part of a five-part series in marketing strategies; this one's all about SEO, search engine optimization, organization, and marketing strategies. That's why I'm asking you to get your calendar together, work it out, make sure that the two-month campaigns—that's what we call the two-month calendar—make sure the two-month campaigns are chipping away at the objectives of your annual marketing plan. You should have an annual marketing plan, and social media should be consistent and should be robust and should be attention-getting, but it shouldn't be advertisement; it should be literally something of interest that people are gaining value on.

So with that said, please, if you think this is of value and if you have thoughts and ideas, write it in the comments below; give me suggestions; I'm all ears to try and bring a greater value to you. I'm all about exchange and abundance. Hit the like button; help us with the algorithm; help me help more therapists succeed in private practice. I greatly appreciate it. I know you don't have a lot of time, and the fact you spend time here with us, I couldn't be more grateful. So thank you very much. Get out there, and each and every day, like I say on my podcast, expect to do well. You.
