Deep Seek's new AI model just killed Anthropic's $200 a month subscription. Here's what happened and here's how to use it.
So, Deep Seek, a Chinese AI lab, they just dropped V4 Pro and it performs basically the same as Claude's Opus, Anthropic's most expensive model, but for 90% less. Anthropic, they charge around 15 bucks for every million words that you process. Deep Seek, it charges $1.74. It's the same power, fraction of the price.
And the part that Anthropic doesn't want you to know is you can just plug Deep Seek straight into Claude code with two environment variables. Step one, point the base URL to Deep Seek's Anthropic endpoint. Step two is to sign up for Deep Seek and then drop in your Deep Seek API key.
And from there, you can just launch Claude like normal. It's the same interface, it's the same agent, it's the same file edits, but every prompt now [music] routes to Deep Seek instead and the $200 monthly plan, it turns into roughly seven bucks.
Comment Deep Seek and I'll send you the exact step-by-step guide on how to set this up.
