Good evening, Tony. Dozens and dozens of community members are here at Stetson Library, preparing to march for justice in honor of Randy Cox. Take a look around me. You can see just how many people are already here, as this march is set to kick off in about half an hour.
Family members and the attorneys representing Cox are also here today, in addition to members from other local groups like Black Lives Matter. You can see people are holding up signs calling for justice for Randy and also police accountability. Connecticut's NAACP is leading efforts here today. We spoke to the president, who shared with us their main message for today's march. Take a listen.
"This is a serious situation where a young man pretty much was paralyzed from neck below, and this didn't have to happen. When he went into the van, he could talk and walk, and now he can't talk and walk."
Now, this march will kick off again in about half an hour, traveling about two miles over to New Haven Police Headquarters to push for change. We will continue to follow this and bring you a live look coming up on Fox 61 News at 5:30. Stick with us for that. For now, we're live in New Haven. Alicia Machado, Fox 61 News.
