We're back for another chart pattern lesson this evening, and we are talking about the contained patterns tonight. They bundle a bowl, the bucket, the locomotive. Locomotive, less contained, but, um, these are interesting ones because think of the shape of a bowl, a wedge, a bucket. There's something that holds inside. It's, it's something that that contains something.
So let's start by looking at the bundle or the wedge. They are a little bit interchangeable, has two names there. So this is a pattern where the planets are focused within the space of a Trine, within the space of 120 degrees. We can allow for a few degrees, um, extra for the trailing planet, so it may not be exactly within 120 degrees, certainly not more than 140 degrees. Sometimes we can see a trailing planet that can make us a Squidward Drake, 135 degree angle, even to the landing planet in the bundle. So the wedge pattern, it is an attractive type of personality where we don't have to do much to get the kind of attention or, uh, consequences that we're looking for. So it's more of an easy kind of karma. That does not mean that we have a happy life automatically. There is an easier way that one projects themselves. There is less self-consciousness and more affability contained within a bundle pattern. So our gifts are shared, they're disseminated without much effort. There isn't a huge amount of effort that we associate with the bundle because we already have a certain amount of things that are working for us. And even if those things are bothering other people, they're not bothering us, and so we don't really have a reason to address or to change those things. It's interesting when you see these self-contained patterns that there can be, at a certain stage of life, a realization of the consequences of how one has been, and then a great desire to change, but may not have the initiative or the muscle, maybe to set in our ways at that point.
There's usually a Trine, the defining Trine, that is contained in the wedge or the bundle pattern. And because we have planets that are contained within the space of that Trine, sometimes it can have an outlier that it comes out to assist liquid rate. We don't have as much desire or need to develop or to, to do different or to be different or to grow with the presence of a susque madre. There can be more of that effort that will be made, but it, because of the nature of that aspect, it's generally something where we will make those changes and decide to make efforts after we have failed. And at that point, a lot of people with these types of configurations, even at that point, they'll figure, well, even if I do put the effort into changing it, to growing and being different, I only have so much time left anyway, and it's going to take so much out of me. So I think I'll just not change horses mid-race and we'll continue to do what we've been doing. So without the presence of hard, steady conflict, uh, we may just let things ride. So we're focused and we're confident in houses that are occupied by the planets, and not as a focused or desirous to develop experiences in the unoccupied houses. Not really concerned so much about that with this particular pattern. The concern is more where the activity is. So it is limited, but we can be quite proficient and efficient and focused on the areas of life that are occupied. So the closer the ore between the first planet and the configuration on the last planet, the more powerful the pattern is going to be, the more archetypally patterning it's going to show up as. And this pattern does not have, um, a lot of, of consecutive conjunctions. You can have a stellium, but we're going to have more of a distribution of planets throughout. There can be a small stellium within this, though. So we, we don't have the kind of oppositional, I have to change, kind of energy or the seed that is planted of change that we associate with multiple conjunctions. If we do have more than just a few or just one conjunction, that could lead to some amount of realization, but it's not as likely that conjunctions will lead to change, your growth, or realization as hard, other hard aspects will. So wisdom is going to come through failure. It doesn't so much come with this pattern through looking ahead and saying, oh, that's going to go wrong, I better adjust that now. It's more through looking back and seeing how things have gone wrong and then plan making a better plan for the future. There's such a great deal of foresight that we associate with this kind of pattern. We may not do hard things because we don't have to, and we're going to see that as a theme with these similar configurations. There isn't the, the motivation to, to pick ourselves up because we may not fall as far. And the things that are going wrong, how we're bothering other people, how we're disappointing other people, how we might be falling short, it's not bothering us as much or at all with the easy aspects. So we don't change.
Okay, do you know your camera is on? Yes, I turned my camera on because actually, I got up early this morning and I got dressed. Normally, I look like, um, I've been pulled through a hedge. So I thought, you know what, I'm dressed, I'm going to show you my face just for a nice day. So morning, and I'm sorry for being late. It's a problem. We're adults here. We get to be late, we get to leave early, and we get to eat during class if we want to. Okay.
Um, so the, um, creativity, uh, can be high. We can have, you know, a good amount of creativity with this configuration. We're talking about the wedge, okay? The wedge pattern or the bundle, but we may not have the great amount of drive or reason to do great things with our creativity. You can often see that with trines, um, and this is one that's associated with the, with the shrine. Yes, Julie, it does. It can pick up the laziness and the, "I already kind of have that going on, so I don't need more" thing that we associate with trine. So these are not the most dynamic patterns. If we have a defining hard aspect within it, that can be something that that does create a certain work in our lifetime, that that is something that sharpens us because we have to address that. It represents problem, and usually a problem with getting something or having success in the outside world, and that can make us develop creative solutions. Easy aspects are not creative in the sense that there's, we don't really, don't do anything new there. So we can accept what comes easy, not look for more. And, yeah, especially if we have difficult aspects to the leading planet, this can make it more possible. If we have the leading planet in a square, there's some, or a difficult aspect to a planet within the 120 degree span, that'll make it more possible that we will do something. We will help ourselves. We will go beyond what we're already good at because we see we have this amount of efficiency or proficiency with trines and sextiles. You know, we're like, yeah, if it ain't broke, don't fix it. Well, other people may think it's broke, but because it isn't appearing in your world as a real problem, then you may just stay fat and happy.
All right, so we have one more question here. Um, not more than 140 degrees, okay? Because then we get into a bowl. Okay, within 20, 120 degrees, but not beyond 140. But if there's any planet outside of that, is it not a wedge? That's basically what my question is. No. Right. And all of the planets have to be within there. Okay. Okay. Yeah. So even like, even an outer planet or something like Neptune, if it's outside that hunter. Okay. All right, I got it. Yeah. So, uh, we don't require outside help with, uh, these types of aspects, and we're not really focused on people liking us or getting validation and feedback, which goes to the not feeling like we need to change or adjust anything. Uh, sorry, can I ask a question? Yes. Yeah, yeah. I just, as in the chart, how many planets are needed for the pattern to say that it's a work? How many are required within it? Yeah, all of them. Oh, so ten planets are all needed to be in within that that range to be called that pattern. Okay. All right. Got it. Thank you. Yep.
All right, so we are very resourceful this pattern, because we're good with working with what we've already got, and we aren't wasteful. We use what we have, we do the best with it, we don't ask for more. So we can see these chart patterns. I've seen these in the charts of children that are helpful, they're good, they don't ask for more, they live a little bit, a little, a little bit desperately, they're hoping that, you know, their good efforts will be recognized, but they don't really speak up much, but they are very good children.
All right, so let's move on to the bowl. So with the bowl, all the planets are within 180 degrees, within the space of an opposition, and at least within 150 degrees. So the first and the last planet are most likely going to form an opposition, but maybe not every time. And then all the other planets are contained within these two opposing planets. It's a bowl proper. So most of the planets are going to be even through the occupied houses. We may have a conjunction or two, but no more than 60 degrees at the space of a sextile is going to separate any planets at all, or else it's going to turn into an oppositional chart, a seesaw chart that we talked about last time. So we can have a hemispheric bowl when the bull falls into the north, the South, the east, or the west. We see introversion in the northern hemisphere houses one through six. We see extraversion, the inability to contain things within the ball. So ultra containment within the bowl when it's first through sixth, everything spills out of the bowl, can't contain it. When it is seven through twelve, extroverts, and we tell everything. If the planets are in the Eastern hemisphere, 10th or third, and we see a more of an egoic emphasis, it's more of an Aries, it's, it's more about ways that we're reactive kind of quality to the personality or defensiveness. What you're looking at me, and, um, we may start things, but we may not finish. And if, if it is a western hemisphere bowl, houses four through nine, we can see the finisher of it, not the starter. Somebody who picks up the tail, and but they don't initiate. Would be really good at cleaning up, but not starting. Responding, but not taking initial action. So it's a focus in a limited area of life, like a stellium, like a witch. Stellium is an ultra, ultra focus, but this is the focus in a, a part of life. We can have balls that span hemispheres, and in that case, I think it's more, I think it's more dynamic. I think that's helpful when that occurs because we have some difference. We can have some of the introversions, some of the extroversion, gives us some complexity that I think can be a little bit balancing to this configuration. We can feel like we are lacking what is in the unoccupied houses. See, with the wedge, we're not concerned. With the bowl, we are envious. We are feeling left out, we're feeling disenfranchised regarding the things that are happening in the unoccupied houses. Why couldn't that have been me? So we can take back what we were denied, or we couldn't even see. Some people feeling like, like I'm going to get what I deserve, that should have been me. So there can almost be an entitlement that people can wrestle with. And we have very strong goals because I think there's a lust for what was missing. And I have seen this pattern show up in, uh, borderline personality disorder, many, many, many times. So we are, um, we are self-contained with the bowl while looking towards what we don't contain. So there is a dissatisfaction with the bowl. That if the bowl does contain part aspects, particularly if there is a defining opposition that's at the rim of the bowl, and if it's, if it's making a T-square, this is where we can see more dynamic activity, growth, changing in response to things that aren't going well, recognizing when things aren't going well. We don't even recognize those things really with easy aspects because, well, there's no fallout. I mean, there's an earthquake, but my house wasn't touched. So what the hell? So we don't do anything. But if there are some difficult aspects within this pattern, we may muster our strengths and our abilities, and we may do something in those unoccupied houses. But it's going to take something from us because we don't have any experience there. We don't have anything to work with. It would be like if I decided that I am going to visit Antarctica. I don't even know where to start. I certainly don't have the wardrobe. Who do you even call for an Antarctica trip? There can't be that many people that are servicing Antarctica. But say, you know, I have planets in the Hawaii house, that's easy, that's six hours away. So we may not stretch ourselves because we don't know where to start. We don't know anybody. We don't have any experience. And so we have to do something risky. We have to do something hard. You know, I would have to figure out how to go to Antarctica, even though it doesn't seem obvious to me. It can be done. Sure, people do it. I'm sure people do the hard things, the other hard things that we may not think that we can do. So we, we need to take meaningful action. Action that it's not action for the sake of doing something. It's action for the sake of getting a specific result. So it's different from like, oh, you know, I'm gonna go to, I'm gonna go to the mall and look around and spend some time at the mall, and then, you know, I'm gonna go to the mall because I have to get the specific thing. We're going there with intent. So it's, it's that, that intent, and I think, and, and the, the, the action for a reason. I'm doing this hard thing for a reason. With hard aspects, a lot of times we waste, or with other patterns, we waste energy. We do things, we are acting, but it's meaningless, it's repetitive, it's without reason. And so we don't necessarily do that with this aspect pattern. So when we do something, it better count because we're averse to doing things that don't lend easy results.
So that brings us to the bucket. So the bucket is a bowl. All planets contained within 180 degrees, but it has a handle. It has a planet that's out in the unoccupied houses somewhere. So an opposition is usually there, but from the handle of the bowl to a planet at the bottom, but not always. And we're usually going to have an opposition to the rim planets forming the bull, not always. If we do have those defining hard aspects, particularly if we have a T-square that's there, because we have the handle of the bucket up here, opposite to a planet down here at the bottom of the bucket, and then we have the defining opposition here. So we have a T-square. If that's there, that is helpful, and it is going to denote some problems that we have to deal with, but it is helpful in terms of dynamic activity, helping us to grow and to be better, because ideally, a star is a mix of hard and soft aspects.
All right, so let me answer a couple questions. Uh, Mila, about borderline personality disorder, was some hemisphere houses in particular? Yes. Um, Eastern and Western, particularly the Eastern side, that the, the egoic side of the, the lesson, sometimes insightful part of the chart where we find the ascendant. What's the bull orb? If the trailing planet is four degrees past 180, does it count? I would say probably yes. Yes, it does. We can give a few degrees, um, for a bull proper, like a one that you're going to pass a test on. It's going to be within 180 degrees. If we see something like one or two degrees off, and it is opposite to say, that the trailing or leading planet, nice. I think it's still bowling. Uh, let's see. Come on, a couple more questions here. [Music] Um, is the handle of the bowl always a T-square? If it isn't, if it isn't a T-square, it's not a, I made a mistake. No, I meant, is it, yeah, it doesn't have to be exact. No. Some, some handles are a little bit off to one side or the other. So it doesn't have to be perpendicular. No.
Um, so the bucket, it is, um, aspect pattern that does, our chart pattern that denotes self-interest because we have the containment. If something's contained, we don't need anything outside of it. Yes, we have things contained inside the bowl, but now we have a handle, which represents something that we go towards. So all of this energy, all this is this experience, this activity, these desires that are happening in the bowl, they want to shoot through the handle. So that's the focus is the handle, and that handle planet is what a lot of our life experience and what we've been preparing for, and, and what, what we have to offer. That is what that's going to come through. So that, that whatever planet in, in my case, it's Jupiter, and whatever house, my case is the seventh house. So that house is going to be where we find a lot of the growth. That planet is how that growth is going to occur. What are we going to do? And so that's a lot of the destiny, that's the focus, that's the, what is it all adding up to? So we want to get to that handle. And a lot of people can really struggle with that. And we can look at the, the opposition to that handle. That's going to show you the primary struggle. In my case, it's that goddamn Mars opposition to Jupiter. It annoys everybody. It's, that is the area of life. If we could just get a hold of that, if we can solve that back and forth, that opposition, all in one way, but I'm also another look, how inconsistent I am. Then we can have that more, um, consistent success. Look at that balance, that equilibrium that we're looking for in the area of life that that handle planet is contained in. So that's like what we look at as the release point for everything that is happening in all of these other areas. Why? That's what we need to get to in order to feel like I was able to do something with all of this that's contained within this bowl. So the self-contained until they're not, until we take what's contained in the bowl and it goes through a straw, you could say the handle is the straw. We finally get it through the strokes. Except we have to push it out, and then we find success. We find that that feeling of having arrived or doing something because that is the area of life and the thing we wanted to get to. So look at the planet and look at the house when you look at a bucket. One second, sorry. [Music] It's the Shiba Inu. Shiba Inu is a special kind of dog. He's requiring a lot of patience. So we are compelled to develop through the handle, and this is where we're going to test our confidence, and this is where we're going into the unknown. Is that house and that activity, the fulfillment of that need described by the planet. And we can feel very much like the bowl, like we've been robbed, like there's all of these other things to be done. We, we didn't get this, we weren't provided that, we haven't, we don't have the skills for this. We can look at all of those empty areas of life and feel very left behind, and oftentimes resentful with these contained patterns. But once we do the hard things, once we finally eject ourselves through that straw, that's where we find that we broke through a limit, we've done something different, and, and we've stretched ourselves. But until we do that, I think there's this male content that's even harder to address with the, the, um, the bowl. I mean, at least with the bucket, we have the possibility of the straw experience. And I think that we have to, to muster ourselves much, uh, you know, in a much harder way to get after ourselves with the bull. Hopefully, with the bull proper, we have hard aspects that can help us to do that. But yeah, that opposition in the bucket, that is the doozy when it comes to finally feeling like, because I've done something hard, I've, I've gained confidence and experience, I have control over my own destiny. So that's what it can lead us to. So look at the primary opposition, look at the rim oppositions, and look at the area of life that the handle is coming through, and the particular planet. Uh, okay. Can wedge people feel that left field feeling and resentment? Not really. We don't associate that one. Uh-uh. We're focused on what we can do and what we have done, and we're not focused on what's out there and what we weren't given. That's why we can see pretty self-contained, helpful children with the wedge, but not so much with the bucket or the bowl. More like, why haven't I been given kind of ideas.
So that brings us to the locomotive, which is actually a very common pattern. So we have two-thirds of the houses, two-thirds of the chart containing planets. It's a pretty evenly distributed. We have one-third empty. So we'll have about four houses empty, eight full, and no planets are going to be farther away than 60 degrees, the orb, the degree of a sextile, because then we're going to turn into more of a seesaw. The outer planets in the locomotive pattern are trying to each other, and they are typically trying to the midpoint of the pattern itself. So trying, and the leading planet in the locomotive is important to look at because this is the one that is the initiator. This is the engine. Ever watched a train? Incredible weight. I mean, it, I, I can't even believe that this much weight can be pulled. But once that engine gets going and those train cars are in motion, they will remain in motion. It takes a long time for an engine, a locomotive engine, to slow down because there is so much collective weight behind it. And that's what we see with this particular kind of pattern. That once we take the initiative, and what is the initiative? Look at the leading planet, the one closest to the ascendant. That is the one that, once we we act on that motivation, the rest get their button gear. So it is like a massive stellium. A locomotive, but the stellium in it is, oh no, here's a better one. The stellium is like little cars pressed up against each other, little compact train cars. But the locomotive is a locomotive proper where the cars are big, long, or space between. So we have more like the clown version of the locomotive with the stellium, and then we have the big, heavy, adult version that big people ride with the locomotive proper. So we can do great things with this aspect pattern, but you got to get us up off the couch first. And once you do, then we get our button gear, and we usually finish what we start. This is a pretty common aspect pattern that describes a lot of people, and, and basically what it is to be an adult. We would all, I think most of us, at least me, we would prefer to just have everything provided for us and sit on the couch and eat chips and chocolate cake and, you know, watch Three Stooges videos. I, I can't think of a better existence. But, uh, it does get boring. That's why the, the hard aspects exist. So once we get off the couch, because we've run out of chips, because there's usually a reason why we have to get off the couch. Usually we don't just decide, I've had enough, I'm gonna start doing hard things. It's usually a reason why. There's some kind of external circumstance that makes us have to do something or to take action. Sometimes it can be that we look around and we see that we want more, and we're challenged to do things that put us in a position to get more, and then we start the gears and we start rolling in motion. And it is painful at first. It is very painful because we're rusty. We're probably a little bit fat from eating chips on the couch all the time. So it's not like we are, I think that that will do things with the locomotive pattern because we have to. And after we get going, we can do them pretty well. And these are, um, aspects that do create maturity. We don't have the resentment and the, the, um, the malcontentness that we can see with the other contained patterns. This is not so much contained because it's not a bowl. It's beyond that. Things can spill out. So we overcome, we grow, if we take that first step. So look at the leading planet, what's the engine? What is that first step look like? And what area of life? And do we have a hard aspect to that leading planet? That can give us a big clue about what's holding us back. Why is our train not put into motion yet? Because once we do go into motion, so it's almost like an ox, like, uh, Taurus. Taurus is a good example. Once we get going, we're plodding along. Or like a workforce, it's not easy, they don't go fast, but workhorses go far. They're steady. Or like my, my sister-in-law, Jillian, she's a runner. She is not fast, but she can go forever. That's what we do. That's our strength. So we're The Little Engine That Could. When we know that we have to. The Engine That Could is a little bit different because she saw them out and she was like, I just want to go after that. I want to prove that I can do that. I got stuff to do. But with the locomotive, we're more like, oh, I got that mountain there and I really don't want to do this, but, you know what, I know that I have to because I need to get this needed fulfilled. So it's not so much like we're loving to take on that challenge. We just, we take it on, um, I think a lot of times unwillingly. Savvy, I'll be done shortly. I'm gonna take you outside. You want to come over? Do I come over here? Subby, you haven't met the golden Fox yet. He is beautiful. He's a handful, but oh my God, it's beautiful. So we force ourselves to take the first step, and then it gets easier. It gets progressively easier once we're set into motion. So these can be stubborn patterns. These can be patterns where no one need to do it, and we may even be putting things off. These can be patterns that represent a [Music] um, what's the word I have? Menopause brain. When you put something off, procrastination. Represent procrastination. And we, uh, I, I think that that the train cars behind us, they're pushing. These are needs, these are things that are requiring fulfillment. These other planets behind the engine, and it's like they're exerting some pressure. But when this part of us finally gets its button gear, that's what helps things along because we have the, there's the golden Fox. We have the agreement of all of these other parts of us. You know, you're a good boy. We love this golden Fox news. He's a good boy. He's just young. So, um, we have the agreement, we have the, these other needs, these other parts of ourselves that are going to grease the wheels. Almost like when you're going downhill and you have something pushing you, you go down faster. So these can be very, very successful aspects to have once we decide to go. But oh gosh, try to get somebody to move or to take that first step when they have the locomotive pattern. You have to assert quite a bit of pressure and quite a bit of consequence, and a lot of it has to be internal. It's gonna have to be their own accumulative needs that aren't being said. That once we get this initiated, initiating engine planet going, you can feel like that we're bound for success. We have an area of efficiency within the, just the last thing I'll say about this, an area of efficiency within the contained houses, and we are going into our train is going into say making stops in the areas of life that we have yet to find fulfillment. So we may stay at the station of contentment to some people if they do not decide to go into the unknown. I think that if we have hard aspects contained within this, we are going to go into the unknown. We're going to be driven towards that. If we have a lack of hard aspects, if we're missing key squares or, uh, our oppositions, then we may sit on our keister and decide that, yeah, I really do want those things. I do have those cravings. It's two of those needs, but yeah, I'm, I'm doing okay over here with what I've got. It's going towards variety or going towards hard things. Some people may get there, some people may not. You're going to have to decide if there's enough friction contained within the locomotive pattern, because that'll be a very good predictor regarding who is going to change, who's going to grow, who's going to build muscle, because that's what the heart aspects do. We build muscle in the form of character and in the form of confidence, in it, in the form of competence. So, all right, I will leave off there.
