We have spent a lot of time in Sacramento, uh, and a lot of time actually focusing in the state senate, uh, because historically, at least in the last couple of years, it's been the state senate that has actually pushed back against Governor Nuomo. And we see that, uh, through this, uh, proposal that they have submitted, uh.
And we, we're grateful to our county executive who had a, a meeting last week with the chair of the Senate budget committee. And our next focus between now and the May revise is to actually target the, uh, state assembly because we're still waiting to hear where they are. And we will be meeting in, in the very near future with the chair of that budget committee as well as the speaker.
The Senate wishes to reject the governor's proposal to cost shift to counties related to IHSS. They are working to make HAP a $1 billion annual investment rather than having it like the governor had proposed for this fiscal year. The Senate also included a one-time $100 million for VOCA. And the Senate is also working to make the next step in the state's commitment of reaching 200,000 additional childcare slots by adding 44,000 in fiscal year '26-'27.
We are still awaiting the assembly's version, if they so choose to release one, and are eagerly, eagerly awaiting the May revision.
