Why Men Choose Looks Over Loyalty: The Ugly Truth

The funny thing about beauty is, is first of all, it's subjective. So it's all in the eye of the beholder. What's beautiful to you is not beautiful to me, and vice versa.

Second, it's transient. We all know that beautiful women, their beauty changes. We'll say as they age, rather than saying they lose it. It definitely changes.

Thirdly, standards of beauty change by the era. So, for example, in the 1950s, you know, Marilyn Monroe's figure and her style was the standard of beauty. Well, that was not the case in the 1970s, and it's certainly not the case in the 1990s or even today. I mean, who would have ever guessed that the Kardashians would have been a standard of beauty with their big butts, their puffy lips, and their their figures the way they are? So, standards of beauty have changed a great deal.

So, this is not a values-based decision. Beauty does not ever come up in values-based conversations. Nevertheless, men will sacrifice their entire lives on behalf of, or in order to seduce or to possess a beautiful woman. They will make really bad decisions. They will put themselves in vulnerable positions. They will, um, pay enormous amounts of money. They will compromise on other values. They'll even sacrifice other important relationships.

So, why is this happening? I think I have a pretty good understanding of it. This is something that we all need to be really aware of because a pretty smile, a pretty figure, and uh whatever it is about that particular girl that pushes your button is a red flag. And we don't recognize it when we see it because we are so enamored with the idea that this standard of beauty finds us attractive in any way, shape, or form. And I guess it has to do with our low self-esteem, or who knows what. But um, we definitely make a lot of uh um exceptions to our rules in order to accommodate having a beautiful woman in our lives.

Let's talk about it. When I was in the fourth and fifth grade, I remember very specifically my friends were all collecting NFL-like bumper stickers, and they came in different sizes and shapes. They were little ones, and they were all like the helmet of the team, and they were big ones, and they would come on sheets, and it was a big deal if you could get, at that time in like 1974, 1975, um, the Miami Dolphins or the Dallas Cowboys or um Pittsburgh Steelers. Critical to your status as a kid to have the right bumper stickers, and we would trade them and collect them, and it was a big deal. It was very much fun, but there was a lot of status associated with it.

Now, in retrospect, as I look back on it, obviously these things had no meaning to anyone in the world except us in that moment. These things were silly. They were childish. But the status was real. And the status carried through, you know, all the way through into school, into our reputations at school and our popularity and all of that stuff. And status is such a funny thing because how do you measure it? I mean, it's something that is completely intangible, yet it is something that has so much value to us. And women and their beauty have status. So when you possess a beautiful woman, it's like having the Miami Dolphins on your bumper stickers. You have status; you are the cool guy, you know, because you have been validated externally by what we value very highly. And that status is very difficult to come by, or at least we believe it is.

I can already hear a lot of you guys saying, well, from an evolutionary basis, a psychological basis, a physical basis, a physiological basis, there's tons and tons of rationale for prioritizing beauty. I mean, obviously, you know, from an evolutionary basis, you're always trying to pick out the, you know, the um best uh partner, the best uh mate in order to reproduce. Um, psychologically, you know, looking at someone who is uh beautiful, makes you feel good about yourself. Physiologically, you know, there's a certain amount of um enjoyment that comes from it. There there's the hormones, there's the uh um the flush of uh excitement that comes from it. So, there's a ton of reasons why uh we as men consciously or unconsciously prioritize beauty to some extent.

What's interesting to me though is, even in the face of really negative characteristics, things that we if like on a sheet of paper someone wrote down all of her negative characteristics, we would absolutely discount this woman. We'd say there's no way I would ever be with this woman. She is obviously a person of low self-esteem. She's um a low-class person. She's the kind of person I would not want to spend a lot of time with. I would never seek this woman out. But when we're confronted with her in real life and she's a 10, all those other things just kind of fall away. It's like, oh, the fact that she's a prostitute or an escort or a uh porn star. Hmm, not so not as concerned about that as maybe I would otherwise be, you know. Oh, she's got a following on uh OnlyFans. Oh, I can maybe put up with that. Um, Oh, she seems to have some serious psychological problems in her in her background. Oh, maybe that's not quite as bad as it sounds. Maybe I can deal with that. Maybe I don't need to worry about the long-term effects because I'm more concerned about the immediate effects of actually spending time with this woman, actually having sex with her. So, the immediate, I just want to fool around, and the long term, I want to have a relationship. These two things can be completely different. So, that may be part of it. That absolutely could be part of it.

But I do find it fascinating how rationally we have one set of standards, but emotionally and physiologically we have a different set of standards. We react differently when presented with the problem. And our emotions and our physiology tend to override our rational thinking in these situations. And that's where the danger is. So you have to remember, society values beauty, and it always has. It's not just a recent thing. It's not just social media. This goes back, you know, Egyptian times, you know, I mean, this goes back to the beginning of civilization. We have always put a place of value, a premium on beauty.

What's what we don't realize in our thinking minds when we're thinking with the wrong head is that women are a part of the society. So this beautiful woman that you are now confronted with, she knows that she has value because of her appearance. She knows that she has power because she was blessed with this uh this gift of beauty. And she knows that you know it too. She knows that she has some power, and it may be that she has power over you as well. Once she gets an inkling that she does have power over you, that her beauty is enchanting you, that you are falling for her, she understands that she now has the power to control you, to manipulate you, to get what she wants from you. And when you start giving it, when you start um offering her gifts, you start taking her on extravagant dates, you start um spending a lot of money on her behalf, well, now she knows she's got you. You are wrapped; um, you are whipped. Now your rational mind is not involved in this process at all. This is all coming from that that uh psychological, physiological, emotional mind, that that lower value mind we'll call it. You're thinking with a smaller brain, and it's making all these decisions on your behalf.

And what's interesting is, a lot of guys when I'm talking to them when they're away from her and they're reflecting back on the situation, they can see it. They know it. There were tons and tons of red flags. They knew they were there the whole time. But when they're with her, h it's a different story. It's a different story altogether. It's like um, you know, it's like driving that uh that Ferrari or that 911, you know, GTS. You know, this thing's a pain in the ass to take care of. You know, you can't park it anywhere. You know that the oil changes are going to cost you $500. You know that each tire is going to cost you $1,000. You know that this thing is high maintenance. This is a high-maintenance car. It is not practical. It is not a daily driver. This is not the car that you want in your garage um most of the time, but every once in a while it's fun to take it for a spin. Well, what you're doing now is you are turning that Porsche 911 or that Ferrari or that Lamborghini into your daily driver when you take a relationship with a 10, with a woman who has that level of beauty and who also has all those red flags.

If you don't involve your rational mind in this process and you don't see that that this woman brings some characteristics that fall on that list of what's really important to you on that values list, and all she's bringing to the table is beauty and a handful of red flags, yeah, you are just headed for disaster. And I'm not talking about little disasters. I'm talking about life-changing, life-altering. I wish I had made a better decision. This altered the trajectory of my life when I met this crazy woman. That kind of life change. That kind of life change that brings wisdom at the most profound level where you go, "Shit, I've got to tell people about this because these are the kinds of errors that no one should ever make. This is such a trap." Yeah, that's what you're looking at. That's the kind of mistake you're looking at. And I've seen it happen many, many times.

Some of the guys I talk to, successful, rich, good-looking, smart, and oh my god, they make such bad decisions when it comes to beautiful women. I I honestly, it's staggering to me just how bad their decision-making process is just because they think she's hot, just because they think she's a 10. And when I look at her picture, I'm thinking, doesn't that look like a 10 to me? I don't think I would even go near that girl. She looks like trouble right from the beginning; the way she's dressed, the size of her implants, the whole thing, it all just looks like trouble, you know? And uh, once I find out that she's been an escort or anything like that, it's like, man, I don't want anything to do with that. I don't care how hot she is. There is no way in the world I would get involved. But these guys, man, it's like the status thing, you know? It goes right back to it. It's owning that beautiful piece of art. It's owning that beautiful car. It's owning that beauty. And um, they just can't help themselves.

Men who have a history of being very successful at various parts of their life also believe that they have the power to alter or change the trajectory of this woman's life. They think that if they can own her, if they can have her in his life, that they can control her, that they can somehow alter the trajectory of her behaviors and redeem her in some way. And of course, that's an illusion. That's something that we're just um fooling ourselves. The truth of the matter is, she's already got a plan for you, and it has nothing to do with redeeming her qualities. She's thinking about how she's going to get her hands into your pockets deeper and deeper and how she's going to um wedge herself into your life so that she can have the benefits of a long-term relationship with you and maybe even a marriage with you. Um, and she's going to play you in a very um meticulous way.

You see, the thing we don't realize about a lot of these low-quality women, the women who have a history of really behaving badly, is that they come from these um low-quality backgrounds. So their behaviors are a manifestation of um their past. Their their character has been driven into them when they were young. So they may have experienced, you know, PTSD as a result of abuse. They may have grown up in poverty. They may have had a lot of lack in their lives. Um, you know, and not that to say there's anything wrong with that kind of an upbringing. I mean, certainly a lot of great people have come from that kind of an upbringing. But it's what you do with that and how you overcome it that is a reflection of your character. So if you go into prostitution to get yourself out of poverty and then you stay in that prostitution even once you start achieving some level of wealth. Let's say you start to become successful. Well, that is an indication that perhaps um your relationship to intimacy is distorted and that you conflate intimacy with a way of achieving financial success. And in dealing with a real healthy relationship with a man, it's impossible for a man to know whether or not you are approaching this from an authentic place as a woman and whether you are uh truly expressing some emotional, you know, um attachment to the guy or whether it's just another John. It's just another guy that you're using to get money. And I would argue that in the vast majority of cases, not in all, but in the vast majority of cases, when you come across women who have used their sexuality, they've objectified themselves in some way to achieve something that um it's hard to break them of that that works for them. It's an easy path, you know, it's something they didn't have to work for. You know, God gave it to them right at birth. They they had the beauty. They have leveraged it through their their entire life. Very difficult to shake that one off and then suddenly turn into a um high-character, high-value woman.

So, uh, yeah, you got to really be careful about that. Beauty is as beauty does. That was my mother's way of reminding me that beauty is in the eye of the beholder and that it has no value except the value you place on it. So with that in mind, I strongly suggest that you take a look at that list of characteristics of the values that you have and what you consider to be important in a relationship and decide whether or not this woman meets that criteria regardless of how attractive she is. Do not allow beauty to be the defining factor in your decision to making a relationship or having a relationship with a woman. If you do, there's a very high likelihood that you will pay a very high price for it. Beauty in and of itself, especially these days where social media has celebrated it to such a degree that any semi-attractive woman already believes that she is beautiful and she is going to do everything in her power, if especially if she's a low-quality woman with a low-quality past and low low character. She's going to do everything in her power to leverage whatever beauty she has to get whatever she can out of you. Remember, you want to keep that commitment in your pocket under all conditions. You do not want to be allowing that commitment out of your out of your possession. No matter how beautiful she is, you want to maintain control of your future and your life by hanging on to that commitment.
