Hello. I just put sunscreen on.
So, I just got done doing my friend's nails, and I'm kind of inspired to do my own nails. I am going to be hanging out with my other friend tomorrow, so I just kind of want to do my nails. I want my nails done. I want both of my hands done. And that's what we're going to be doing today.
We're going to get right into it 'cuz I kind of want to do these fast. I just don't want to take too long for them. So, I'm going to see if I can focus and actually get these done quick.
Wiping off the sunscreen from my nails is, you know, a clean surface so we can start on the nail prep.
I am going to be doing both of my hands, and I am going to do Gel X because it's just going to be faster. I do want to do Polyel, but I don't know. That's like if I actually had a lot of time, or if I actually wanted to spend a lot of time doing this, 'cuz I do have time. I do. I just don't feel like doing a full set of Polyel on myself. I, I really don't. I, I just don't want to do my opposite hand. I'm going to be so real. I haven't had both of my hands done in a very long time. This is just going to be nice. I don't know. Like, seeing my friend's nails done, and she just had like a cute full set, it makes me want that.
Let's go back to the true purpose for nails to be wearing a full set, 'cuz, uh, if you don't know, I only, I only do one hand, and it's usually just for a video. So, I'm just going to quickly do this nail prep. My right hand has not had nail prep done on it in a very long time. And also, I'm not really going to be doing everything like to the utmost utter perfection today. I'm just going to do my nails however I, I feel like it. If they're not perfect, we're going to accept that.
For the nail art, you know, I had a bit of trouble deciding what I even want to do for this design because there's so many designs that I genuinely want to wear and have a full set of. I'm thinking I found it. Like, it's a little bit Valentine's themed, but not too much. I really wanted something with polka dots. I've just been really loving all the polka dot nail inspiration that I've seen. I don't even remember if the nail inspiration has polka dots anymore now. I think it did. I don't know. It had buttons. That was cute. I like the buttons. That might annoy me later, though, when I actually have to make them. But still, we're going to persevere, and we're going to do it.
Okay, that was kind of fast. Let me go ahead and do the other hand. I'll be back.
All right, that's going to go ahead and have to be good enough. Let's trim down these nails. I haven't trimmed my nails in a very long time. I just kind of shortened them like a little bit if I do nails on them, but I haven't really trimmed them down. And I have been scratching myself with my nails. Like, this scratch right here is from my nail. I have a scratch here on my other thumb. I also think from my nail. I'm going to go ahead and reshape these.
Okay, that's that for the nail prep.
Before I do any more nail prep, 'cuz I think I am going to do, I'm going to put on a peel off base coat.
Do I want almond? I might want all my nails. I was just thinking of square, but I, I don't know if I really want to do square. Is this the smallest nail? Okay. No, too, too short. I don't want it that short. Let's go ahead and use these. These are going to need to be reshaped. These nail tips just don't look quite good. They're really the only almond to full cover tips I have. Pretty sure we'll have to do some reshaping.
All right, I'm just going to continue filing in these sides to make these nail tips a little more round. Oh, it burns. Burns.
Peel off base coat is on. So that way I can have at least a little bit of protection. And if I want to pop them off easily, hopefully it'll actually come off easily. I, I honestly feel like every time I use the Jello Jell-O, I actually don't take it off correctly, and it ends up ruining my nails.
So, I've already shaped the full cover tips. So, we're just going to get gluing those on. I don't know. It's already textured on the inside, but honestly, I'll leave it. It's fine. I wasn't sure if I wanted to rough up the inside of the nails or not, 'cuz it already kind of has this, but it doesn't really feel much different.
And I did do Gel X nails on myself like, I don't know, last year. I can't. When was the last time I actually did Gel X nails? Like a full nail set to wear, almost over a year ago. And I didn't really do them right. And they popped off super easily. I didn't film that. I'm hoping it'll stay on. Let's get gluing these on. I'm just going to use some base coat to cure these.
Oh. Oh no. We've got some major flooding. Oh dear. Well, well. Okay, it's not horrible. And we're going to continue. Like I said, uh, I'm not making these perfect, and we're just going to, we're just going to go with it. I just want nails. I want nails on my nails. I hope this is straight. Like, it's just so hard to tell if you're actually gluing the nail on straight when you're doing it. I think it's okay, guys. These could turn out pretty bad. I hope not.
Oh. Oh. Oh dear. Peel, please. Oh, that ain't good. Did that peel up my peel off base coat? No. Yes. I think my peel off base coat is still on there. That was so crooked. It was scary. Okay, I actually think that's correct. It's, oh, it's, oh, it's bad. This one feels pretty stuck down. Oh, this is painful. Breathe. Just breathe.
Okay. They don't look the best, but they also don't look that bad. Like, they're cute. Almond nails. All right. The shape isn't too bad either. I use tips that are like a little bit bigger than my actual nail so that way they'd look a little more rounded versus too triangular.
Let's do the other hand. Oh, sorry. My video is playing in the background. Please be straight. The flooding is absolutely horrendous. Don't think black.
Okay. Well, that hand went much better than the first hand. Oh, we're going to fix these up. Make them look a little more seamless. So, I'm going to give these a full cure first.
Okay, let's get shaping. Heat. Heat. Laow. Yeah, no. Down. Ow. Ow. Ow. Ow. Ow. Ow. Hello. Who's? Sorry. Sorry. Sorry, so sorry. Sorry, so.
Okay, so I actually had a different design at first, but then now I'm changing my mind, and I actually want to do this design. It has more polka dots. It has black, which I kind of wanted. Like, I like the black polka dot look. It's gonna have some lace as well. So, we're gonna get started on painting the nail art. I don't think I have to put on a layer of base coat or anything. We're just going to get started. I don't know what the thumbnails are. Okay, the thumbnails aren't in the picture, so we're just going to make that up. And I'm just going to do a full pink nail for the thumbnail.
Oh my. Can I focus?
So, on this thumbnail, it's going to be a full pink nail. And then on the pinky nail, it's going to be the same thing. Then on the pointer finger and the ring finger, these are going to have a nude base because we're going to be doing some French tips. This is the only nude gel polish I have that is opaque enough to just be one layer. But I don't quite like the color. Like, I just want like a nice pink nude shade, but that also looks natural, but you can't see through it.
And then on the middle finger, this one is going to have a layer of nail foil glue. And I'm just sticking on this black lace foil and then peeling it up. My cat is like meowing nonstop. I'm sorry. And you kind of just have to go slow with the nail foil because it really doesn't stick down all in one go usually. Like, you have to slowly lift it up and then keep sticking it back down in places that it didn't stick.
And now we're going to be doing the pink French tips. I honestly wish I did like an even simpler nail set because like, after doing all of these steps twice, I was like, "Okay, it's not too hard, but it wasn't easy." Like, I just can't imagine doing both hands of like a really complicated design. I don't know how people do it. Like, that's actually pure skill and talent.
And then I went ahead and outlined the pink French tips. Doing this outline was a struggle. Not really on this hand so much, but definitely on my opposite hand. I don't know how people do it. And in the inspiration picture, it did have like little lace border, but I left that off. I, I already knew that was going to be too much.
And then going in and doing the black polka dots. Like, I feel like the spacing on these polka dots was a bit hard to figure out for me for some reason. I was trying to make it look unformed, but then it just kind of didn't look too uniformed in the end. And then on the thumbnail, as you can see, the pink gel polish did wrinkle a little bit, but I made sure to cure a bunch more. So, I just ignored it and just hope that when I put on the top coat, it would be not as visible. And, you know, it wasn't as noticeable, but it was still there. We're just going to ignore it, though.
And then on the black lace nail, I just outlined this in black gel polish. And I just feel like that really tied it together. Just made it look more complete. And I'm going to be doing the same thing on the other hand.
Doing the opposite hand was definitely much more of a struggle. I'm not used to using my non-dominant hand. I wonder if you can hear my cat purring.
Literally, how are you supposed to outline stuff with your non-dominant? And it just doesn't work. I don't know how I'm supposed to make this outline. Like, it's just wrong. It's just going wrong. And I'm about to just leave it like that. Oh dear. Oh. Oh, no. Oh, I'm about to leave it like that. That's the best it's going to get. I know it. Like, what am I doing with my hand right now to try and get this? Really not the best, but it's the best. We're going to get. I'm not going to fix it anymore. If I fix it, I'm going to keep messing it up.
Okay, now I'm going to outline this black lace. It just kind of cleans it up. It makes it look a bit better.
Now, after all of the nail art, I'm adding on the little bow charm for the middle fingers. And then finishing these off with some top coat. And finally, I'm going to add on some cuticle oil.
And here are how the nails turned out. Let me know what you guys think of this nail set in the comments. It is so nice to have a full set done. It's so nice to just have both your hands. Such a cute and simple set. And just to, you know, remind yourself what it feels like to have both of your hands done.
I had these on for about a week, maybe a little more than a week, and then they did start to pop off because I did have that peel off base coat on. But honestly, that's all I needed them to last. I didn't need them to last like anything super long. So, I really enjoyed wearing them. I thought I was going to be struggling wearing nails, 'cuz I haven't worn two hands in a long time. But surprisingly, it wasn't that hard. I think this polka dot nail design was so cute. I've really been wanting to do polka dot nails, 'cuz I see them everywhere.
