[Music] Welcome to Excel Radio with Dr. Nic Zorroski, where we talk with world-class entrepreneurs, executives, and health experts who have unlocked the secrets to excel health and performance. I'm your host and high-performance expert, Dr. Nick Zorroski. In this episode, I speak with Clay Thomas on the topic of detoxification.
In today's world, we have more toxins accumulating in our environment and in our bodies than ever before. So what we need is a really good game plan in order to remove these toxins from our body, because if we can remove the toxins, we can stay healthy. In this episode, we talk about one of the most cutting-edge forms of detoxification that has hit the market as of lately, and we dive into how you can benefit from using this zeolite fragment solution.
All right, Clay, thanks for joining me on the show today.
Thanks for having me.
Hey, you bet. Clay, can you tell the audience who you are and what you've been up to lately?
Dr. Nick, I appreciate the opportunity. Yeah, my name is Clayton Thomas, and the president of Renew Medical and president of C3 Health Care, which are traditional health care companies looking at improving quality and cost and practice economics in the health care industry. My previous 15 years has been spent around environmental toxicology and detoxification. I have created a couple companies in that space, from manufacturing to distribution, sales, marketing, development, and I've done a lot of research. I was trained not to become a physician, so you can trust me, I'm not a doctor. I have done a lot of research to put myself in a position to have a pretty good opinion about the subjects I'm passionate about.
Well, that's awesome. You know, so in this episode, what we really want to focus on is the topic of detoxification. That's something that you've been diving into pretty heavily as of lately, from my understanding, and specifically zeolite for detoxification.
Absolutely. It's been—it's honestly been a journey of about, I think we're going on 13 years now. Growing up in a veterinary practice, I learned really early on about the importance of mineral supplementation and, you know, the development of animals and humans, with the importance of having the proper foods, eating well, you know, taking your supplements, because we can't get what we need in the environment and, you know, from the environment, all the little things that we've talked about. And about 13 years ago, my perspective changed because I was introduced to really looking at—looking at it in an inverse—that our issues aren't derived from what we're putting in; our issues are really derived from the stuff that's in us that we need to get out. And that goes back to what the World Health Organization had really proven in 1974, you know, with their statements that, at the time, I think they said about 80 to 85 percent of all chronic degenerative diseases were caused by environmental toxins. Though in—you look at the path that Pharma's taken along with that and realized what the problems were—that if you know what the etiology of an issue is and you know—or the cause—and you never—you never address the cause, but you know those causes, and they could be heavy metals; it could be other environmental toxins, PCBs, glyphosate, and go down the list—they cause a cascade of symptomology; they can have a myriad of diagnoses over time in a single patient. So if you come up with mechanisms just to treat the symptoms, you can do really well, and welcome to the pharmaceutical industry. But what we also know is if you find effective means of removing those issues, that people can be well and not have the symptomology that one suspects to get with the aging process; they can actually be phenomenal for a long period of time and not worry about the signs of aging and cancer risk and whatnot that the rest of the population gets to deal with. And what I found is, you know, the class of minerals called zeolites, and specifically clinoptilolite and a couple others, are what Nature has created to clean the environment. And then it came down to creating the proper mechanism that can make—make that crystal basically bioavailable and most effective for systemic detoxification. Because the class of minerals, whether you look at clinoptilolite or bentonite or a couple others, have been very well published and proven for their—their mechanism for environmental detoxification as well as gastrointestinal detoxification, but never systemic detoxification. So that led to a pathway of working—working with other chemists and biochemists and scientists and manufacturers to create a process that could break apart the crystalline structure, clean out the cage structure to get rid of the heavy metals and toxins that are naturally stored in that molecular sieve that is the crystal, and then break—break the crystal apart, because it's a natural honeycomb, so it's like breaking apart individual cells of the honeycomb to make them small enough to go into solution and be water soluble.
Okay, so now we're talking about clinoptilolite in zeolite. What—what happens there? Why—why are there two different names there?
So zeolites are the class, so it's kind of like having a Ford Mustang; the Mustang is the specific version, the vehicle; Ford is the class. So zeolites are a class of minerals, volcanic minerals that are formed from different—different chemical processes from volcanic eruptions that have formed in different areas of the world. So if you're familiar with Iceland and they have the hot springs and they have the really healing mud that's in the hot springs in Iceland, that's bentonite. Okay? You have a deposit of a really cool zeolite that's there. Clinoptilolite is found in numerous parts of the world in different deposits, and it's a quartz-like crystal that is—is very unique in its nature that it acts like a molecular sieve, to where it has this very porous honeycomb cage structure that is negatively charged, so it acts like a magnet to bind—to positively charged heavy metals and other environmental toxins in the environment. It's the reason that the Romans used it to line the aqueducts so they didn't die of lead poisoning, and when they didn't use it, we got Nero. And it's the reason that when Chernobyl melted down that they dropped a half million tons of the powder over the meltdown site because of its ability to bind cesium and strontium. They've used it in Three Mile Island; they used it in Hanford; they've used it in Oak Ridge; they used it in Fukushima. So it's very well published, very well proven for its natural ability, and it was—it was a matter of creating—creating a mechanism to make that more consumable and effective in the human body. And it's—it's really important to understand that if you look at ten years ago and 15 years ago, the conversation about detoxification wasn't—wasn't as crucial because we weren't in the tipping point environmentally. We—we now—you can't get away from the conversations of detoxification from a health care standpoint, whether—whether it's indirect or direct, right? If we look at parents that are talking about the anti-vaccine basis, and I'm not an anti-vaccin—I'm an anti-preservative person; I'm an anti-mercury, aluminum, diploid cells, peanut oil person. I'm not anti-vaccine because it's—it's those components that they put in there, either as preservatives or whatnot, it caused a lot of the problems, and those are all going down to a conversation of detoxification, because that stuff's been put in all of us, you know, and we—we have an issue from conception. And it's the—it's the conversation of detoxification that many people don't talk about, but the problems that we have today in our population are because of women—and twelve women just shrugged and in street because they—they don't want to hear that per se, but it's a fact—because when a woman's pregnant, when she's burning fat to create the energy to—to grow a fetus, those toxins and chemicals that are also stored in that fat start circulating and in her system, and as a means of protection of her own body, her body will push a lot of those toxins into the fetus. That's where miscarriage rates become so high, but seldomly talked about because there's still a stigma behind it, but it's also the reason that we've got kids that are extremely sensitive when they're born, and then you have the concerns of vaccineosis; you've got the ADD, ADHD, autism, Asperger's, OCD, behavioral issues, learning disorders—all the stuff that—that you want to put in it that we're seeing in the population currently, and it all corresponds to different levels of environmental toxins depending upon the area of the—of the country or the area of the world that the—the mother grew up in or was in and where her family came from, because this environmental issue is—is transgenerational; it's passed down maternally. Soon, and we're at the point now where we've got to address it, or we're gonna have a lot of screwed-up people.
Right. So how can utilizing the fragments here actually help get those details—or the—its toxins—out of the body, then?
Well, compared—compared to other mechanisms, you know, and looking—if we look at the—the medical—the medical applications, you look at the EDTA, DMPS, DMSA, you know, the chelation methods—they—they have their positives, but they also have their drawbacks, and some of them aren't as effective as they—as they could be. They're—they're limited in their scope in some aspects; they're expensive; they're invasive; they have diminishing returns; and they're—they're not a—they don't have an ability to work passively through the body, and they can be invasive, and if not applied properly, they can be dangerous. And this mineral is—is really unique because it's generally recognized as safe as a food additive, so you can consume a lot of it, and it can't hurt you. But you—to take a lot of a product that can work systemically, and what makes—you know, this mechanism unique over the powders and over suspensions is the fact that it is water soluble, and these fragments—and in solution—are small enough to permeate cellular membranes. So the fragments can get into—into the bloodstream, can permeate fat cells and different cells, and there's some evidence that it's crossing the blood-brain barrier. And because they're passive nature and they don't have any natural binding sites, because it's—it's not like a calcium and magnesium or hormone, it has no place to stick, so it will go in; it'll grab on to what it can; being a molecular sieve, it'll trap the bad stuff. There's conversations that because it's naturally negatively charged that it will bind—you know, the essential metals as well—the calcium, magnesium, potassium, the sodiums—which it will, but because of their lighter charge and they're lighter molecular weight, it will actually cationic exchange those lighter metals for the heavy metals, so the mercury's, the cadmium's, arsenic, LEDs, aluminum, cesium, strontium, and such. So it will hold on to the bad guys and allow them to be passively removed because it'll come out through kidneys and liver, and you just pee it out. And the nice part is is because it's trapped everything, you're not worried about causing any other toxicity issues to your detoxifying organs; you actually get a process where you're detoxifying—you're detoxifying organs, because as those fragments go through your kidneys, they have some binding space left over, and they're grabbing toxins that are in your—in your kidneys, allowing a little cleanup in that area as well. And your kidneys are much like having a fuel filter in a car, you know. If you're Keith Richards, you can keep doing oil changes, but most of us only have two, and you got to take good care of them, and this is a great mechanism to—to do that.
Well, yeah, and this is an incredible method for healing that we can utilize today, because like you mentioned before, 10–20 years ago we weren't really talks about—talking detoxifying, but now it's like—I mean, even if you're doing a lot of the right things, you're still coming across many toxins in the workplace and—and I mean, everything anymore is full of toxins, so, you know, if you're trying to get well—whether in—this is interesting because I just spoke to a group of ladies the other day who—is a big weight-loss group that I spoke to, and all of them are really trying to lose weight, but one of the things is—is that comes up quite often is, "Hey, I'm trying to lose weight; I'm doing all the right things, but I still can't lose that weight," and many of these women are very toxic. And so when they start losing the way, they—you know, eventually, because of the hormone disruption from all the toxins in their system and everything else, they—they come to a standstill. And you know, even when it comes to healing anybody anymore, I mean, I feel like at one point it was a matter of putting some things in, you know, whether it's better nutrients in and, you know, working on nutrients that were lacking, whatever the case was, but now it's a matter of actually getting out those toxins before you can actually go in and try to really, you know, get to the—to the next stage of healing with people.
Absolutely. And like you mentioned, one of the—one of the areas that—that we get to in—in fat loss, when—when you look at the fad diets and, you know, the different—different pathways people are using today from a training perspective and whatnot to burn off a lot of fat quickly, not only are you seeing the hormonal changes, but you can see changes in symptomology that happen really quickly. I've had friends that have lost a lot of weight, a lot of inches, by burning off fat from doing different diets and whatnot, and they've called and said, "Hey, I have MS symptoms now," and it all corresponds to, you know, losing all this weight, and it's because the fat is a storage medium for those chemicals and those toxins that are in your system, because your body has to sequester that away from your organs and away from your brain. And if you burn off the fat, you release all those toxins, and specifically mercury shuts off the methylation process; it shuts down glutathione production, so our body's natural detoxification ways that we should have means of trying to flush some of this stuff out don't work. And that's the nasty part of this stuff is you have these toxins that we want to get out, but they shut off your body's ability to—to remove it naturally, so they get stored. And then when you're trying to remove this stuff, you have to find a way to bind it while it's still in the body, because if you mobilize it, it's—it's going to cause disruptions; you might be able to get some of it out, but if you don't get all of it, it's going to be sequestered again, which is why you see people that lose a lot of fat and six months later they put a lot of it back on. It's not because they're lazy or they weren't doing stuff right; it's—both their bodies adjusting to the environment that they created. So you—if you don't—if you don't do the subtraction, the addition is never going to cause as much of a benefit as it could without doing them in combination. You know, you—you have to get rid of the bad stuff while you're putting in the good stuff, one because you can remove the blockages from nutrient binding sites and hormone binding sites by using something that can work at a—at a cellular level to remove those blockages, that—but then by adding proper nutrition, you know, proper supplements, proper diet, that the nutrients that you're putting in are able to get to the areas where they need to go to be effective. So you've got to do both; it's—it's not one or the other.
Mm-hmm. Yeah, and so we use it—we're using the Vitality Drops formula and actually to actually go and remove these toxins from the body. Now, because you are involved in the creation of the Vitality Drops, what kind of toxins can they actually remove from the—the body, of the brain, and in deep tissues?
Well, I wasn't—I wasn't involved in the—in the creation of the product, but given—given my experience and knowledge in—in the market, the 15 years I've—I've done and being able to research pretty much every product in the market and have—in my hands and the—the manufacturing and a few of them, the—the mechanism of action of—of that product is more advanced than anything I've seen, and it's—it's due to the process. There's a couple different formulations in the market that have different intellectual property, and the—the process behind Vitality is—is unique. But one of the things that makes it really special is not only what—what the process is doing to make the—make the fragments into a solution, but the finishing process to enhance the natural negative charge to make it even more active is really—really unique.
Okay. And so with—with that really strong charge, are we—are we removing metals and mold? What kind of toxins are we grabbing?
Yeah, so clinically clinoptilolite's been proven to—to bind heavy metals; it'll bind molds, like black mold; it's one of the few things that will bind glyphosate, which is a whole other show on its own, with the ability to actually remove and bind glyphosate. It's been shown to be used for Agent Orange; you've got Lyme—and not the spirochetes themselves, and this is a really important aspect of Lyme disease because it's become so prevalent—that the spirochetes themselves, the bacteria aren't really the problem; the biofilms and biotoxins that are emitted by those spirochetes are what causes all the symptomology, and it's those—those little guys that the—that clinoptilolite is actually able to bind. So you've got, you know, other PCBs, other environmental toxins, trichloroethylene; you can go down a long list of different chemicals that mineral has the ability to bind. And so it's not just heavy metals; it's—okay, it's really a lot of the worst stuff that we have to deal with environmentally today that nature—nature had already created a mechanism for, you know, depending upon your philosophy, whether—whether you think of it as a spiritual aspect or, you know, or whatnot—God did a pretty good job of giving us everything we needed when we needed it; we just have to figure it out. And this is one of those things that at the—at the time we need it the most, it's available, and we figure out how to use it. I think it was—was a dog man, Dino, that said, "When the student is ready, the teacher will appear." There you go. It's—it's that philosophy, you know; it's that native—the native philosophy of understanding nature, and where there's a problem, there's a cure. And volcanoes were the largest natural source of environmental pollution; it only makes sense in that same process that a solution was made to remediate the environment that was being created to be toxic, so we just have means of using it now, and it's absolutely incredible.
So one of the things—I want to kind of get into a little bit is, you know, so we're talking about using this to detoxify the body. Now, I have patients coming to me all the time and they say, "Yeah, I did a detox, so I don't need to, you know, detox any further with you," and you know, they might have all these different symptoms and they might have conditions or facing—like diabetes or arthritis and all types of inflammatory conditions, and once again they come to me and they say, "Well, no, I don't know why you want to detox me because I've already detoxed," then they start talking about their liver cleanse and their foot baths and they're, you know, there's all these different types of cleanses that people are using, and they're calling those that detox. And so, you know, I—I find this to be, you know, the only real way to do a good, solid detox. And so can we kind of touch on that a little bit? Now, the big difference between some of those other cleanses, like the liver cleanse and the—the foot cleanses and all that, in actually using something along the lines of the Vitality Detox Drops?
Yeah, it comes down to basically a conversation of level and depth, right? Because like you mentioned, most—most people when they—they symbolize detox, it's—it's a connotation that isn't typically well—well accepted because there's negative—negative thoughts that come along with that. If it's spending a half hour on the toilet because you're flushing stuff out or having to go away for a week and spend a lot of money on a retreat and sit in a tent that's too hot, you know, however you look at it, those—those mechanisms are typically GI, kidney, liver, and lymph, like you touched on, which there is benefit to. I mean, I'm a huge proponent of, you know, liver—liver and kidney cleanses and colon hydrotherapy and infrared saunas. I work really closely with a friend of mine that has some of the best infrared saunas on the market, and I strongly—strongly encourage the use of those, but when you're looking at a cellular basis, you need something that goes deeper than that, and that's—that's the mix of the two. You've got a product that is able to—to work at a bloodstream, cellular, subcellular level, and then you've got the rest of the mechanisms that are working on an organ—organ or lymphatic level. So both are good, but they're different, and one—one of those methods, the GI, kidney, liver stuff, you can do on occasion, and the systemic aspect is—is a matter of doing it consistently, and it's designed to be passive, and that's really the important part of true systemic detoxification—that it shouldn't be a process that is averse to the body, and you shouldn't feel terrible when you're doing it; it should be passive. Because if you're—if you're removing metals properly, you don't want to do it heavily at one time, because you're obviously going to be mobilizing things that you can't get out, which is going to lead to sequestration issues later on. Though it's—it's the process of slowly peeling an onion, and you go layer—layer by layer instead of just cutting it and chopping it all up. You get two different processes by doing that.
Okay, so if somebody's gonna utilize Vitality Detox Drops, then they should start lightly and then—and then increase it a little bit maybe, and then—and then just continue on with it versus just going full-tilt in?
It depends; it depends. Some people—some people are okay and it hard quick, you know. It's the one thing I've done, but because of the mechanism, there's nothing wrong with starting low and titrating up.
Okay, gotcha. And so then how often should it be used? You kind of mentioned that you want to stick with it and stay with it, so is the case that you want to use it over a long period of time, or is this a one-month type of deal, or how does that work?
If I had an option, it would be womb to tomb, but the—the easiest explanation is if our environmental exposure ever went down to zero, you could stop. Now, you might not have to use it as often over time, and you might not use as much or you might use more indifferent at different points in time due to exposure or just due to how—how you might cycle with it over time. But as you mentioned, our environmental exposure is never going to get any better, and with that being said alone, it's something that you should continually use. And theoretically, if we were able to ever 100 percent clean up our bodies and—and then eliminate our environmental exposure, you could say, "Hey, I don't—I don't need to do anything like this anymore," but we're never gonna get to that point. You know, if—if we just look at Fukushima and what Fukushima has done, we're pretty well—
All right. One last question I want to bring you—or bring up here on the topic of detoxification, and that's what is the big difference between DMSA and then what we're using with the fragments here, because the DMSA is something that is really being moved away from—from what I can see in—in—in the use of the clinical aspects, and people are moving more towards like the—the fragments here, so one versus the other. And I know the FDA has put a big clamp down on the DMSA as well, so what are your thoughts on that?
DMSA is kind of like taking a hammer and a chisel or a jackhammer and going through and knocking a bunch of stuff loose and then leaving and just saying, "Here, you know, deal with it," because it's—it's been the issue. It's very—very effective at mobilizing a lot of metals; it'll mobilize a lot of mercury, and with its ability to—to cross the blood-brain barrier in some aspects, you—you mobilize a lot of metal. Problem is, like we've touched on—
Our body's natural detox pathways are inefficient to remove all of that stuff, and that's that's where you run the risk of getting people sick from doing too much. And you take the alternative where you've got a natural molecular sieve that will go in and grab on to stuff. Now, if you if you wanted to have a lot of fun, you could use them in tandem, where you have one mechanism that is basically shaking up the snowglobe, per se, and then you you can throw in another compound that will suck it all up. And that's the difference between the two: you have like DMPs and DMSA that will that will mobilize a lot, which is why it's been used for challenge tests for heavy metal excretion so often; it will it'll mobilize so much metal that you will excrete a lot—not everything, so you'll excrete a lot. I'm not a big fan of that because if I was doing urine analysis on me, I'd want to look at what my body is naturally excreting, and then I would want to use some protocols that are effective in the remediation of that. I'd want to use that for a short period of time and then do a follow-up urine challenge test to see what the difference was from doing nothing to doing something versus putting a lot of force into my body to to mobilize a bunch of stuff and then see what comes out. But they have different different mechanisms, different effects; one one is good at knocking a bunch of stuff loose, the other one is very good at going in passively, grabbing on to what it can, binding it, and then leaving passively.
Okay, gotcha. And what kind of results are you seeing with this? I mean, you're pretty deep in all this; are you seeing people who are overcoming different health challenges by using this alone, or reversing conditions? Like, what do you see?
That's a tough question. Well, even even we go back to the part where I said I'm not a doctor. I mean, simply and because it's it's one that I've never been a huge fan of talking about: "Oh, that use this product because it can treat this, or use it because it do that." In this thing with the inflammation conversation, and I do a lot of consulting in the nutrition industry with different, you know, direct sales companies and different companies doing sales, the different supplements, and the big conversation that people have today as well: "This is an anti-inflammatory; inflammation is your problem." I'm sorry, inflammation is not the problem; there are is good inflammation, there is bad inflammation. And if you go after the cause of the bad inflammation and you can remove that, then you're not going to have that symptom ology. And it goes back to the same the same question or the comment that I made initially: if you understand the etiology of a problem, and I don't care what the diagnosis is—if it's autism, Alzheimer's, and anything in between—if you can figure out the etiology and you remove that from the areas of the body that are causing the symptom ology that lead to the diagnosis, that lead to the treatment; if you can remove what's causing the issue, you won't have the symptom ology, or it will be dramatically decreased. So the human body is really unique in that that if you give it the opportunity to do what we're capable of doing, we are quite vital, and we are we are made to be amazing. Right? We're the greatest biological organism ever created, besides cockroaches, and we've been polluted to a point where we have calcified pineal glands and all these other issues, so we're we're not as special as we can be. But if you can remove the the compounds, the metals, the the toxins, the glyphosate, the viral particles, the spirochetes and everything else that are causing our issues; if you can remove those and the byproducts of them, the symptom ology that people have synonymous with a lot of the diagnosis that you were discussing won't be there anymore. And I've I've seen plenty of that, because if you remove the cause, you won't have any symptoms. But it's saying, as far as one specific thing, I can't say it because I'm not a doctor.
That's alright. Well, hey, I appreciate you coming on with us today, and it's been a great conversation. I'm you know I'm happy to bring this information to people and you know further educate people on the process and in topic of detoxification, because it's something that's very important to the overall health of the average average American and you know people worldwide. So once again, thanks for coming on the show with us and sharing your your knowledge on this topic.
Yeah, I want to I want to say thank you, one for the time and also the work that you do, because it's it's really advantageous to have health care practitioners that have gone beyond their traditional scope, you know, to to really take care of their patients. And if I have a doctor, I would I would definitely call you, but hopefully the people that are listening to this that have the opportunity to work with you should take advantage of it, because you're taking an approach that's dead-on for what people need, and hopefully they pay attention to it. And I really appreciate the path you're taken. You know, I always tell my patients, you know, they ask if you know that my thoughts on what I'm doing, and I said, "Hey, I'm I'm offering the best; if it wasn't the best, I wouldn't be doing it." And I said, "If you can challenge me and you can tell me something better, but I'm gonna do it," but as of right now, I think I'm on the track to the best. So that's that's one of the reasons we use this product and in the vitality detox clinic, then it's uh it's you know that's we're doing the best we can in order to get people well, and I appreciate you saying them.
