Joel Urshan - THE ONLY TALENT YOU NEED

I'm going to look to the word of the Lord this morning. You're welcome to turn there with me. I'm reading from Numbers chapter 12 and verse 3. I'll also be reading from Matthew chapter 25 and I'm going to read verses 14 through 18.

So thankful Ethan and Sophia were able to be with me on this trip. We've had such a great time in St. Paul. Great to be with Brother Bounds, our dear friend.

But Numbers chapter 12 and verse 3, the word of the Lord says this, "Now the man Moses was very meek above all the men which were upon the face of the earth. The man Moses was very weak meek above all the men which were upon the face of the earth."

I will read also from Matthew chapter 25. I'm going to begin reading at the 14th verse. Matthew 25 and we'll begin reading at the 14th verse. The word of the Lord says this, "For the kingdom of heaven is as a man traveling into a far country who called his own servants and delivered unto them his goods. And unto one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one, to every man according to his several ability and straightway took his journey. Then he that had received the five talents went and traded with the same and made them other five talents. And likewise he that had received two, he also gained other two. >> [music] >> But he that had received one went and digged in the earth and hid his lord's money." [music]

I want to speak to you for just a few moments on this last session at Torch conference on this subject, the only talent you need. The only talent you need. Praise the Lord.

Could we lift up our voices and ask God to bless the preaching of his word today? Could you do that with me? Lord, thank you for your word and thank you for this day, this hour, this moment that we have with one another in your presence. I pray, Lord, that you will minister according to your will to every person that is in this place. Let your spirit move deeply and mightily among us and we surrender ourselves to you, oh God, thanking you for your goodness and mighty power. In the mighty and matchless name of Jesus we pray and everybody said in Jesus' name. Everybody said, "Amen." Amen. God bless you. You may be seated in the name of the Lord.

This parable of the five talented, two talented, and one talented servant servant resonates with us, especially when we consider the weight of that word talent. Because that word talent there really truly does mean a weight. That's that's what talents were in ancient times. They were weights. But really they are still it's still the same word that we use for talent, but its usage has uh taken on new dimensions over time. Uh the talent of that day was was a matter pertaining to weight and then it it began to mean other things. It began to mean currency and the weight of the talent would determine its ability to be currency. Uh and and until today when we use the word talent, if I were to say to somebody that you have a lot of talent or they have a lot of talent, uh you would know what I mean. I would I would be meaning that they have a lot of abilities and they are quite skilled or gifted. And uh and all of that is true in in this this word talent is the same word. It it is just added dimensionally it's been added to dimensionally over over time, but in the very same way that it meant weight and that it became to began to mean currency, it still means skills, abilities, talents that you can make marketable and use as currency. It still is what you take to the marketplace and make it available to those who are what we would call exchangers or what the Bible calls exchangers. And so the talents you have are the very things that you take into the world where you live and you put it out there. You put yourself out there. Your skills, your gifts, your abilities, the things that that you have a propensity to and an ability for or things you have learned, things that come natural to you, that you that you were drawn to. And it may have been it could have been anything from numbers to uh to art and and colors and fabrics and design and dimensions and any little thing that that kind of draws your attention to it can uh if if honed correctly and developed correctly can become a skill that can become a talent that you have that sets you apart from somebody else. And and you notice I use the word skill and gift interchangeably. However, there's a difference between a skill and a gift. Uh a skill is something that you have taken the time to develop and a gift is kind of something you were kind of born with and and it can become more of a skill, but but but there's just something you kind of man the more you grew and developed you realized this is something I kind of have a a knack for, a propensity for. And uh and so here we look at three guys that are receiving from their master talents or gifts. He gives them an advantage and says, "I want you to take what I give you and do something with it. I want you to make something out of it." And and and so imagine the three of them standing in line receiving their talents, their currency, their gift, the thing they're going to be able to use to go and apply themselves with and imagine the first guy gets five talents and the other two guys are looking at him like, "Wow. We're getting five talents? I didn't know we're getting five talents. That man. Woo, this is going to be amazing. This See what I CAN DO WITH FIVE TALENTS." And uh and so the first guy gets the five talents and and says it's said to him, "You do something with this and and but here's here's what I'm giving you." And then he goes to the next guy, the master does, and he hands him two talents. I thought we WERE GETTING FIVE TALENTS. Because the first guy got five talents. No, no, no. Second guy, you get two talents. And that third guy's thinking, "Oh my word. First guy gets five talents and now me and my buddy, we're only getting two talents, I guess." And he gets down to the third guy and says to him, "And here's your gift." And hands to him one measly old talent. And the three of them now set off on this adventure because they've got a span of time between when their master departed having deposited into them gifts, talents, something to work with, and there'll be a span of time before he returns to see what they've done with what they had been given. And now they've got their work cut out for them. The first guy takes those five talents and he does something special with them. The second guy takes those two talents and he does something special with them. They gain other five, they gain other two, respectively. And now the third guy with the one talent, he looks at it and I don't know altogether what came over him. He he explained it later by saying to the master, "I knew that you were a hard man, an austere man, that you reaped where you uh had not sown. And so I went and I hid the talent you gave me in the earth. And guess what? I can go get it. Not thing Not a thing has changed. I'll go get it. It's just like it was when you gave it to me." And he goes, digs it out, and I don't know what he expected, but he received a harsh rebuke. And and it's a kingdom parable. So so it's helping us understand how the kingdom operates. The two who did something with what the master had given them were were given such glowing uh uh praise. In fact, it's where we get the terminology, if you've heard this before in the pulpit, it's where we get the terminology, "Well done, thou good and faithful servant. Enter thou into the joy of thy Lord." But to that third servant, he didn't get that kind of acclaim from the master. Instead, he received this this heavy rebuke which was which was, "Thou wicked and slothful servant, you unprofitable servant." And he cast him into outer darkness where there will be weeping and wailing and gnashing of teeth. And so this is a This is a startling moment. But But imagine if you're that one talented servant who's left with one talent after watching the other guy get five and the guy next to him get two. You've got to be careful when you start comparing what God has given you to what he has given to others. And And I I I think there's a theme in this meeting and I've noticed it from when Brother Bounds began preaching and the Lord had already about what I should preach while I'm here and I'm sensing a theme and I I feel like the Lord is just really getting a hold of somebody to let you know that everything you need, God has it in store for you and you don't have to You don't have to be frustrated with your circumstances because God is enough, His word is enough, His spirit is enough, His power is enough. Hallelujah, His grace is sufficient. And so I'm imagining that one talented servant looking down there like, "Well, yeah. I mean, I YEAH, I COULD DO SOMETHING SPECIAL IF I HAD THE FIVE TALENTS you gave to so-and-so. But I don't know what you expect me to do with this one talent, if you want to call it that." And And two talents, at least give me two. I mean, what am I supposed to do with this one talent? And he so underestimated it and so degraded it in his own thinking that he went and he hid it in the earth and thought of it as worthless and useless and good for nothing. The thing Yeah, the only thing. It was the one thing the master gave him. And instead of valuing it, he he compared it to what the five talented servant had and what the two talented servant had and devalued that one thing God had given him. And I've got to tell you that's not how the master looked at it. The master came back eager to see what he had done with that one talent. Excited to see, "What have you done with the one talent I gave you cuz I know what you could have done with it. And I know what you would have been able to do with it had you taken it to the exchanger. So, I can't wait. Let's Let's see, man. Let's Let's look AT WHAT YOU'VE DONE WITH THAT ONE TALENT." And the master WAS SHOCKED WHEN he realized that nothing had been done with this one talent. You You You You mean You mean talent that the unprofitable servant didn't know about that talent. And I'll go further and say that the master seemed to have more confidence in that one talented servant than HE DID THE FIVE TALENTED SERVANT. BECAUSE HE EXPECTED something special from the five talented and he expected something special from the two talented and he expected something special from the one talented servant. Even though the one talented servant only had one talent, that master MUST HAVE PUT SOME KIND OF A CONFIDENCE IN HIM that he would expect something back. But I got to ask you, what are you supposed to do with one talent? I mean I mean, come on. It's one talent. It's not five talents. It's not two talents. It's just one talent and I want you to know, don't estra underestimate one. There's nothing wrong with one. The Lord our God is one. >> [applause] >> And the power of one is found in what you multiply it by. If you multiply it by God's word, then it's God's word. If it's multiplied by the blood of Jesus, then it's the blood of Jesus. If you multiply it by prayer, then it's prayer. If you multiply it by mountain-moving faith, then it's mountain-moving faith. It all depends ON WHAT YOU MULTIPLY IT BY. WELL, GUESS WHAT? I'm just crazy ENOUGH TO BELIEVE GOD MEANS WHAT HE SAYS AND SAYS WHAT HE MEANS. AND IF HE TOLD ME THAT I CAN DO ALL THINGS THROUGH CHRIST, THEN I'M GOING TO TAKE MY ONE TALENT AND MULTIPLY IT BY THE FACT THAT I CAN DO ALL THINGS THROUGH CHRIST WHICH STRENGTHENETH ME. HALLELUJAH. STOP COMPARING WHAT YOU'VE GOT TO WHAT THAT FIVE TALENTED servant or two talented servant have. That's their race. Let them run that race. You've got a race to run. Run the RACE YOU HAVE SET BEFORE YOU. RUN IT WITH PATIENCE. And I'm going to tell you if if you feel in some way disadvantaged, "Well, I wasn't I wasn't born with that kind of resources or money and I wasn't born into that kind of a family and and they don't have the same disability that I have and they don't have the same problem I've got and they don't have the same circumstances I've got. And if I WOULD HAVE HAD BETTER circumstances and if this wouldn't HAVE HAPPENED AND IF THAT WOULDN'T HAVE BEEN THE CASE, THEN MAYBE I would have some kind of a privileged situation like they've got." Forget all of that. YOU'RE A CHILD OF THE KING. YOU CAN'T BE MORE PRIVILEGED THAN TO BE THE CHILD OF THE KING OF ALL KINGS. AND I want to tell you, if you've GOT ONE TALENT, WHATEVER TALENT THAT IS, YOU TAKE IT, PUT IT IN THE HANDS OF GOD. I DON'T CARE IF IT'S FIVE LOAVES AND TWO FISH. PUT IT IN THE HANDS OF THE MASTER AND WATCH WHAT he can do with it. Watch what he can do with it. Hallelujah.

Now, the Bible The Bible has several five talented servants. And And you can see who they are. I'm going to tell you one of them was David. David was a five talented servant. And And I mean, he was really talented. He was a king. He was obviously the king. Do you know that when he was introduced to Saul to go and be considered as the one that would fight Goliath, that this is what they said of him, that he is a mighty man of valor. He was a shepherd boy. HIS FATHER PUT HIM in charge of his whole flock. And David slew a lion when it tried to enter into the flock AND SLEW A BEAR WHEN HE TRIED TO ENTER INTO THE FLOCK. This was quite a responsibility for a young man to have to oversee his father's flock. That's his father's livelihood. HE PUT HIM IN CHARGE OF A TREMENDOUS AMOUNT OF ADMINISTRATION. He was an administrator. He was a great king. Do you know that when he was a fugitive from Saul, there were people that came to him that were indebted, that were distressed, that were despairing and despondent. You know what David did? He turned them into elite warriors. Like Navy SEAL warriors. He turned them into elite soldiers. Forget the debt, forget the distress, forget the despair. You spend some time with me, you're going to turn into an elite warrior. HE WAS A LEADER OF LEADERS. HE was an administrator of administrators. He was the king and everybody knew it. He And And And And it was It wasn't just that. The guy like wrote the most beautiful songs. INSPIRED OF GOD, divinely inspired of God. And he wrote so many of the Psalms that you read in the book of Psalms and he sang them. And he played instruments AND TOLD US TO PLAY THOSE SAME INSTRUMENTS. He said, "Now, you go make a joyful noise and and and praise him on the loud cymbals and the high sounding cymbals and praise him on the organ and the timbrel." Like it's like anybody can do that. He's just like he's playing timbers, he's playing the organ, he's playing He He's playing the the harp. His playing wasn't just any kind of playing. He went into King Saul's court, his chamber and he played and as he played, evil spirits ran from the room. He had a gift, folks. He had a talent. When he played music, the evil spirits ran from the rooms and he could He could sing and he could write songs. That's a big deal. There's a difference between being able to sing a song and write a song. And we've seen this week on display Brother Draylon Young and these wonderful students who've been Cuz Brother Young's one of our great songwriters and singer of songs and these students did the same. We saw that this week. BUT BUT NOT EVERYBODY CAN DO THAT. ELVIS PRESLEY never wrote his own songs. Have you ever said he did? Uh He ain't nothing but a hound dog lying all the time. I don't think he ever claimed to do that. But But you know, sometimes it's one thing TO WRITE A SONG AND it's a totally separate thing to sing the song. And when the two can both exist in the same person, that's talent. That's giftedness. That's ability that has been developed and something God gave a person that they honed and they perfected in His presence. AND DAVID HAD THAT. HE COULD SING, he could write songs, he was an administrator, he was a leader of leaders, he was a warrior, he was A VALIANT MAN AND HE COULD DANCE. I TELL YOU, IT'S JUST NOT EVEN FAIR. It's just not even fair. This guy had all the talent in the world. THAT'S DAVID. NEHEMIAH. Nehemiah was apparently this outgoing He apparently had a magnetic personality. He had one bad day where he wasn't all smiles. And the king said, "What's wrong? Something's wrong. Something's wrong. I don't like it. Normally, you come in here, you're the life of the party. Normally, you're the guy who lights up the whole room. What's wrong?" And that's what got the conversation started about Nehemiah going back to Jerusalem. But But apparently, he had an outgoing personality, winsome personality. And when he got back to Jerusalem, he's this engineer extraordinaire who was able to just size up the city and and and and structurally engineered Brother Fleming in such a way that he was able to to JUST REBUILD A WALL THAT HAD BEEN BROKEN down over time and and and Nehemiah is this this amazing multi-talented man. And and and while he's working on it, I mean, he's got literal literally, he wasn't just a worker, he was a warrior as well. There was a time, a season of time where he had a tool in one hand and a weapon in the other. Just fighting people, building walls at the same Talented, multi-talented people. And then you and then you got my man Moses. Bless his heart. I'm not going to take anything away from him. He is perhaps, besides Jesus, the single greatest leader in the word of God. But he just didn't have the same skill sets as some of those other great characters of scripture. I mean, by his own admission, he could hardly speak. He was not an eloquent man. He was not an orator. It frustrated even God got upset with him and said, "Fine, then you give my word to Aaron and let Aaron do the talking. But but stop coming up with reasons for why you can't do what I'm calling you to do." And that's what happens when you feel like you don't have the talent or the resources or the gifts. You feel like I just can't do it. And you've got to forget all of that. You've got to forget all that. Moses didn't have all the talents David had. He didn't have all the talents Nehemiah had. HE WAS NOT THERE WERE THERE WERE DETAILS he overlooked. There was one time that he was GETTING READY TO GO SAVE ALL OF ISRAEL, BUT FORGOT TO MAKE SURE his own son was circumcised and God nearly killed him for that. It was IT WAS MOSES MOSES GOT HIMSELF IN TROUBLE IN EGYPT BECAUSE HIS TEMPER was out of control. And he he got into a rage in an attempt to defend a a Hebrew slave and he ended up killing an Egyptian man and and he That's WHY HE DIDN'T WANT TO GO BACK TO EGYPT. HE FELT LIKE HE WAS wanted and God had to reassure him, "All the people that sought your life are gone." And and Moses had had his own challenges. He He He labored in communicating with the people day and night, toiling with them, being their only counselor, their only advisor. He was the prophet and he assumed all the responsibility that comes with that to the point that Jethro shows up and said, "Man, you're not doing this well. And you're going to hurt yourself and you're not doing the people any favors. I want you to make captains over hundreds, captains over fifties, captains over tens." And Jethro had to devise a plan cuz Moses wasn't the administrator that some of these others were so capable at being. In fact, not only then, but later on, he finally was pulling his hair out just about SAYING TO GOD, "GOD, I DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU WANT ME TO DO. THESE AREN'T EVEN THESE ARE YOUR PEOPLE. YOU'RE LEADING THEM TO YOUR LAND of promise. And and I I I don't know what you want me to do." And the Lord said, "Okay, here's what I want you to do. I want you to go bring 70 of the elders and I'm going to take the spirit I put on you and I'm going to put it on them and I want these 70 elders to help you lead the people." He was in constant need of somebody, Jethro and God himself, coming in to delegate and appropriate the responsibility of leading Israel. HE WASN'T THE GREATEST OF leaders in terms of abilities, gifts, skills, talents, and yet he led those people on dry ground through the Red Sea that he parted as God gave him power to do so and he called bread from heaven and he pulled water out of a rock and he led those people successfully to the brink of the land of promise until he and all his generation passed off the scene and he chose Joshua and set them up for success in the next generation. HOW DOES A MAN WITH THAT CHALLENGED OF A SKILL SET DO SUCH extraordinary things? I'll tell you how. Because he had the only talent that you absolutely must have. And it's found in Numbers 12 and 3 that we read. Now, the man Moses, he wasn't the greatest administrator. Administration didn't come easy to him. He wasn't the most eloquent. Oration was not his gift. He was not the most detail-oriented when it came to his own house. Big on saving Israel, he struggled when things when it came to his own home. He had his challenges, his gifts, his talents, his abilities, they weren't this and they weren't that, but I'll tell you what he did have. That man was meek above all the men upon the face of the earth. There was nobody as meek as Moses. They might be able to out-preach him, but they couldn't out-meek him. They might be able to out-administrate him, but they could not out-meek him. They might be able to out-engineer him, but they could not out-meek him. He was meek more than any man upon the face of the earth. He was lowly. He was humble. He was gracious. He was meek. He was humble. And I'm going to tell you something. I don't care what talent you've got, if you don't have humility, your talent becomes worthless. You want to know why? You want to KNOW WHY? BECAUSE GOD resisteth the proud. And if you don't have humility, you will be up against God every day for the rest of your life. You will wake up resisted by God BECAUSE GOD RESISTETH the proud, but he giveth grace to the humble. And if you can have humility, you can have anything. If you can have humility, THERE'S NO END to what you can do. IF YOU CAN BE HUMBLE, YOU CAN WALK THROUGH RED SEAS. IF YOU CAN BE HUMBLE, BREAD WILL FALL FROM HEAVEN UPON THE MINISTRY YOU BRING. IF YOU CAN BE HUMBLE, THEN GOD'S POWER CAN BE APPROPRIATED THROUGH YOU. HALLELUJAH. It doesn't matter how good you can preach, you got to be humble. It doesn't matter how good you can sing, you got to be humble. IT DOESN'T MATTER HOW MUCH MONEY YOU KNOW HOW TO MAKE, YOU'VE GOT TO BE A HUMBLE BEFORE GOD. That is the only talent you absolutely must have. If you've got five talents, one of them better be humility. If you've got two talents, one of them better be humility. And if you've only got one talent, it needs to be humility. That ever-present awareness that he can do all things and I can do nothing and I can only do something through him. YEAH, I CAN DO ALL THINGS, BUT only through Christ which strengtheneth ME. THAT EVER-PRESENT AWARENESS THAT WITHOUT HIM I AM INCAPABLE. The Bible says, "By grace are you saved through faith. By grace are you saved through faith." You know what that means? That grace, that's God's grace. That's what God did. That's Calvary. That's That's his blood shed. That's That's his grace graciousness. That's God coming down to where we are. It's his power. It's his glory. It's his wonder. By grace are you saved through faith. Now, that's where we get tripped up a little bit and we start thinking, "Faith, that's the part I'm a part of because without faith without works Faith Faith without works is dead. So, so faith is where I get involved and that's where I put my hand to the plow and maybe I can get a little bit of credit for this." But the apostle goes on to say, "By grace are you saved through faith and THAT NOT OF YOURSELVES, NOT BY WORKS OF RIGHTEOUSNESS, LEST ANY MAN SHOULD BOAST." THAT NOT OF YOURSELVES, EVEN THE FAITH YOU need is the gift of God, he said. It is the gift of God. You might say, "Well, I'm the one who had to repent of my sins." Repentance is a gift from God. "Well, I'm the one that had to get baptized in Jesus' NAME." BAPTISM IN JESUS' name is a gift from God. "Well, I'm the one that had to get the Holy Ghost TALKING IN TONGUES." THE HOLY GHOST IS THE GIFT OF GOD. "WELL, I'M THE ONE WHO WENT TO SCHOOL." GOING TO SCHOOL IS THE GIFT OF GOD. "WELL, I'M THE ONE WHO HAD TO APPLY MY MY STRENGTH TO IT." YOU HAVING STRENGTH IS THE GIFT OF GOD. YOU HAVING A BRAIN IS THE GIFT OF GOD. EVERYTHING YOU'VE GOT IS THE GIFT OF GOD. I'M GOING TO TELL YOU SOMETHING. IF YOU WANT TO BE USED IN THE kingdom of God, you need to get used TO SAYING THESE WORDS, "GOD DID IT. GOD DID IT. GOD DID IT. GOD DID IT. GOD DID [screaming] IT." >> [applause] >> "OH, I REALLY APPRECIATE THAT MESSAGE YOU PREACHED." GOD DID IT. "I REALLY APPRECIATE THAT SONG YOU SANG." GOD >> [screaming] >> DID IT. "I REALLY APPRECIATE THE KIND OF MAN AND WOMAN YOU ARE." GOD DID IT. TO GOD BE THE GLORY FOR THE things he has done. Hallelujah. I'm going to tell you what the Bible says. The Bible says that John the Baptist was the the greatest prophet. There was no greater prophet born of a woman than John the Baptist. And yet John the Baptist performed no miracle. John the Baptist performed no miracle. And yet Jesus said, these are red letters, that there arose not a greater prophet than John the Baptist. The greatest prophet of all had never performed a miracle. He was the voice of one. NOTHING WRONG with one. He was the voice of one. It's hard to be the voice of one. You hear me? It's easy for me to preach here today because you mostly all of you nearly agree with what I'm preaching. So there's hand clapping. There's an amen corner or multiple amen corners because you agree. But try being the voice of one. Trying to Try being the only one who believes it. Try being the only one who who will be willing to open up your mouth and declare the kingdom of God. That was John the Baptist. He was the voice of one. AND HE WASN'T CRYING ON A PLATFORM at Torch Conference. AND HE WASN'T CRYING at camp meeting. He wasn't crying on a general conference stage while people applauded and clapped their hands. No, NO. HE WAS CRYING IN THE WILDERNESS. PREPARE YOU THE WAY OF THE LORD FOR THE KINGDOM of heaven is at hand. And you know what he said? He said there's only one thing I know how to do. Only one thing and here it is. I CAN BAPTIZE YOU WITH WATER UNTO REPENTANCE. BUT THERE'S COMING ONE AFTER ME THAT IS MIGHTIER THAN I WHOSE SHOES I'M NOT WORTHY TO BEAR. WHOSE SHOE LATCHET I'M NOT WORTHY TO LOOSE. AND HE SHALL BAPTIZE YOU WITH THE HOLY GHOST. AND WITH FIRE. >> [applause] >> DO YOU KNOW Do you know what his refrain was? And it needs to become the refrain of your ministry, your life, your devotion to God. It's this right here. I must decrease. I must decrease. He must increase. I must decrease. He must increase. That is the only talent you need. Man, if you can kill lions, God bless you. If you can smite bears or or take down Goliaths, God bless you. I'm grateful. If you can build walls, that's awesome. If you CAN MAKE WALLS FALL, THAT'S AWESOME. BUT IF ALL YOU'VE got If all you've got is Lord, you can do all things and I can do nothing. I'm going to tell you you can lead people. You can lead people through the wilderness with that talent. You can lead your family. You can build a church. You can do anything in the kingdom of God. Hallelujah. Pillar of fire by day. Do you know what Moses said? Moses said, "God, I'm not going if you're not going. IF YOU DON'T GO BEFORE ME, I'M NOT GOING CUZ I CAN'T DO THIS. I DON'T HAVE THE ABILITIES. I'M NOT ARROGANT ENOUGH TO THINK THAT I CAN DO THIS ON MY OWN. I'VE GOT TO HAVE THE POWER OF GOD. I'VE GOT TO HAVE THE SPIRIT OF THE LORD ON MY SIDE." OH. HALLELUJAH. HALLELUJAH. SEE, I I I remember praying one time when I was a teenager. I was laying down on the floor next to the organ and I was praying and I prayed this prayer. I said, "Lord, I said, 'Lord, make me humble.'" And then I remembered a an old saint of God that that I HEARD SAY, "NEVER ASK GOD TO MAKE YOU HUMBLE CUZ he will." And I said, "Lord, I said, 'Make me humble, but don't don't go overboard with it.'" I'll never forget the Lord speaking to me as just a teenager and saying, "I can make you humble without humiliating you." And I want you to know that the humility you have, it doesn't come from you. It comes from God. The moment you think you're humble, you're not. But the tinny said, "It's a strange quality. The moment The moment you know you've got it, you don't have it anymore because you become proud of how humble you are." Here's what humility is. It's this ever-present awareness that that pride can slip in any way in any crevice. It can come in the strangest of forms. You can think you're humble and be full of pride. You can think that you're that you're really meek and be full of pride. God help me. My flesh is so prone to pride. Lord, I don't want pride to have any place in my life in the name of Jesus. I know I'm so prone to it. It's It's a proclivity of my flesh to just lean toward pride. But Lord, if you can help me to be humble before you. I don't know how to be humble. The moment I START FEELING LIKE I AM, I BECOME SO PROUD AND ARROGANT AND BOASTFUL. LORD, let me walk HUMBLY WITH YOU. WHAT DOES THE LORD REQUIRE OF YOU, OH SON OF MAN, but to do justly and to love mercy AND WALK HUMBLY BEFORE THY GOD? WALK HUMBLY. Walk humbly. I wonder if somebody could stand to your feet right now in the name of Jesus and say, "Lord, help me walk humbly before you. Help me to walk humbly before you." Hallelujah. Hallelujah. I'm telling you some in this room. I know it because you're human beings. This isn't even a word of prophecy. It's just you're human. You've got a lot of pride and don't even know it. You've got a lot of pride and don't even know it. There have been times the Lord has revealed to me the pride in my own character. I didn't even know it was there, but there it was. Snarling, lurking, lurking, ready to pounce. And I had no idea. I thought I HAD IT UNDER CONTROL. YOUR FLESH will never have pride under control. You have to continually walk humbly with thy God. Walk humbly with thy God. Lord, whatever you want me to do, whatever you want me to say, I won't resist it. I'll obey in the name of Jesus. I wonder if there's somebody who can say, "Lord God, the only talent I need from you is humility. I need you to give me humility, Lord." Could we leave this house with that prayer on our lips? Could somebody come to the front of this house with that prayer on your lips? Lord, I need humility. Lord, if you give me humility, I can slay giants. If you give me humility, I can part waters. If you give me humility, I can do what you've called ME TO DO. LORD, I NEED your humility. God resisteth the proud, but he giveth grace to the humble.
