Everybody's heard of Lubu, but what I bet you didn't know is this stupid little toy has generated $670 million in the last 6 months. Got to look inside me. Oh, these are all sold out.
What if I told you that there was a formula that they use that you can steal to increase your sales 21 times faster than the competition? And in this video, I'll reveal how the world's biggest brands are using it and how to apply it to your own business to explode your sales. It's called spectacle stacking, and all the fastest growing companies are using it.
It is when you engineer a product or service to have multiple visual components that stack on each other to actually have that wow factor to your prospect. So when they see it visually, it explains through its actions itself exactly what it does and then seeing how it actually delivers that end result that you want from actually purchasing this product or service in the first place.
It builds in virality into your message because in your ads, in everything that you do, you use spectacle stacking, not only from an ad level down onto your landing pages and your website, and it creates a sharable moment. And as more people are spending an enormous amount of time on screens, what you want to do is have a message that is easy to disseminate and spread it out by having a visual component baked into it. So, is you have something that's visually enticing, the sharability just goes up and again, you get more mind share for free.
And it's exactly what I use to go from $50 to over $200 million in sales and become one of the youngest sharks on Shark Tank. And this brings us to the first brand we're breaking down, Leubu. These are the creepy little Leubu dolls. They look very stupid to me, but hey, people are buying this [ __ ] like crazy. So, let's go around the office and see if people even know what these things are or if they can explain and try to convince me why they are worth the ridiculous amount of money that they command for these things.
>> You know what this is?
>> No.
>> Oh my god. Thank god I'm not the only one.
>> What the hell is that?
>> You haven't seen this all over the internet.
This guy's the youngest billionaire in China. Not only is this little doll super creepy and demonic looking and it's got all these weird expressions on its face, which in itself is a spectacle, right? But they didn't stop just there. Then what they did is the blind unboxing spectacle stacking strategy where you can't go out there and just buy the color that you want. No, you must enter into the gamble of actually getting the color that you want because it's a blind box, [ __ ] That little moment there of you getting the package and actually opening it, that is spectacle stacking.
What do you think people are going to do when they're opening it? They're going to want to film the unboxing experience.
>> Why are these things so popular? Everyone's trying to get the limited edition one. some K-pop stars sported them on a handbag. Now everyone wants them.
>> Why are they so popular?
>> Cuz I I don't know.
So, you've got that whole experience of unboxing it in blind and then seeing what the color is and then them showing it up to the camera and they're two spectacles that stack on top of each other that has added to this whole thing becoming a cultural phenomenon. But then the other compounding effect that you also get is you've got this message that just naturally gets spread. Who do you think is going to hear about it? Celebrities. And then you have celebrities sporting these things on their bag and then that completely snowballs this thing and it goes completely nuclear.
Which brings us to the first step. Engineer a core spectacle in your product or service. You want to think about what is a visual moment that inherently makes it interesting, enticing, and highly sharable. It takes a little bit more time. However, once you've done it, it does all the heavy lifting for you because you don't find yourself having to explain things to people and you've created this visual element that does all of that heavy lifting and shows people exactly how your product works by actually showing them in the actual ad or on your landing page or however it is that you're going to showcase this visual spectacle.
Some down and dirty ways that you can do this is by having a completely different color or some kind of shocking visual or even a bold guarantee. Visually, you want to be able to look at whatever it is that you're putting out against all of the competition without reading a word of copy, without listening to any audio. And visually, you can see it's completely different straight from the jump. And a great litmus test for this is just to show it to a bunch of people. Does it make them inherently want to pull out their phone and take a photo or record a video and then share it and tell other people? If it's not doing that, then you haven't hit the mark yet.
Okay, so there's not many diehard Laboo fans in my office. So, I decide to head out and experience the hype for myself. I can't believe me, a grown ass man is out here looking for a little doll. My daughter absolutely loves these things and hasn't stopped talking about the pink lyche berry in Lab Vubu. Let's see just how hard it is to track down one of these little demonic creatures in the right color.
>> How you doing? Do you sell the boooos?
>> No.
>> Boo.
>> Damn.
It looks like maybe I would find a loouing. I don't know what this is. Is it a little goat buck? It's a capy bar.
>> A capy bar.
>> There you go. I learn something every day.
That looks like there's lubus in there.
>> Do Do you guys have lubus?
>> No.
>> We have our always done.
>> Okay. All righty. Thank you.
Not a great start, but I am not going home without a pink Lubu in my hand. If you're enjoying this content and want more of the source to grow your business, then make sure you subscribe so you don't miss a thing.
Next up is High Smile. So, according to Shopify, these guys did $300 million in revenue last year. And this is a perfect example of spectacle stacking. What they have done is so brilliant because they've entered into a category that is just white and green and minty and blue, things that are just very normal and average. And they have completely used spectacle stacking to disrupt the feed altogether and have something so different with their bright purple V34 serum.
We have the High Smile V34 serum. If you're wondering who this handsome guy is next to me, this is my editor. He has willingly put himself in for tribute to also try this [ __ ] Apply two pumps. Gently polish in a circular motion for 30 seconds. Well, I have a toothbrush. What do you got?
>> My trusty old finger.
>> All right, let's see this puppy. Holy [ __ ] You can't even see it. Look at this [ __ ] This is [ __ ] like black tar. Look at this. Look at this contrast over here. Sayanara to that finger. That's going to die. All right.
>> At least it won't be yellow. It doesn't taste bad.
A few moments later.
>> I've got mixed feelings about this. Again, they they market this like a miracle solution. Like you just put it on and immediately your teeth is white. But I I wouldn't say that either of our teeth are noticeably whiter after one application.
>> I don't think so. No.
>> But it was it was definitely a very visual stacking experience. This [ __ ] was wild. It looks crazy. The product doesn't taste bad, but it's just whether or not it works.
>> My finger is a whole lot more purple, though.
We've got a video here. Let's review this and see how they deploy visual stacking to sell shitloads of this purple liquid. Let's find out if high smiles B34 color corrector serum can brighten my yellow teeth. Giant yellow disclosing tablet yellow prime 24 karat gold yellow honey ice coffee. This is like some degenerate brain rot, right? But they know who they're marketing to. You got to give them that. But they're using other things as visual stacking. They're not just relying on the product. They're using all the most yellowing things that could possibly stain your teeth. And then we're going to see what they do.
>> Let's check the before results. apply it to half your mouth and scrub the rest away.
>> It works so well.
As soon as you see this thing in your news feed and you say, "Oh, what's that purple stuff?" And it's dripping out of people's mouths, it immediately gets your attention. And this is why these guys are going absolutely crazy with their sales.
Which brings us to step number two. Identify the boring default. You want to go out to your marketplace and you want to assess the terrain. You want to look at your top five competitors. You want to look at their ads, their websites. You want to buy all of their products and see exactly how it works. And the first thing that you want to do is the absolute opposite of what they are all doing. Typically, when you do this and you look at all these competitors, you realize that everything just blends into one another and it becomes a big mush. When you do something that's completely opposite to them, you stand out immediately.
Still not a single trace of any Laboo. Up again. Strikes out. Super strikes out. has three strikes out. What are we going to do?
But then all of a sudden, a glimmer of hope. I >> I found a What is this place? This is a freaking mall. There's no human beings inside here. However, >> we do have Lubu. What do we got here? Five tokens. Yes, please. This might be the answer. Unless this thing is completely real. We are getting a Lubu. [Music] >> Grab that thing. Thank you. Yeah, I'll take that. See, Rick, >> you know that it's rigged. They have a certain algorithm on this [ __ ] where it's like one in every like 30. >> This could be the one though. >> Yeah. Look at this. Here we go. Yeah. Straight up. No problems. Bang. Drop. See? >> Absolute horseshit. This [ __ ] is rigged. Just rigged as a labu scarcity. No labu still.
Which brings us to step number three. Stacking multiple spectacles. Because having one spectacle might get someone to say, "Wow." But realistically, what you want to do is you want that message to take hold of your marketplace. Take for instance high smile. They didn't stop at just having an outrageous bright purple serum. Then what they did is they took that and they thought, okay, what can we do to make this even more visually enticing? Well, let's compare it and contrast it to bananas and to coffee and to all these other weird things that really pop off the purple and then we can show the after state of their teeth becoming white after they were brown. That in itself is like visually enticing. They use that to get revenue in the door. And then once they've got that revenue in the door, they take it and then they go and invest in influencers and they're shouting with a megaphone about this and then it just takes a life of its own and it takes off. And that's the power of when you don't stop at just one spectacle, but you stack them on top of each other to create a flywheel for verality.
Think about this with the new iPhone. They went out and did the most anti-apple color that they could have ever done with their cosmic orange. But they also did not launch a black phone, which is their most popular phone. In addition to not launching a black phone, their limited supply of their silver phones because if they can simply sell 10% more of an outlandish color, they know that they're going to get all of this free inventory in the eyeballs that are on these social media platforms to take photos of them, see the selfie photos, to see people walking around with them, and it's immediately going to signal the herd mentality to everybody else that this person has gotten the new iPhone. And then that creates the virality loop in itself and then further spreads the message in this huge cultural launch that they're doing.
All righty. So, we arrive on the Apple website, click into the iPhone page, everything is spectacle stacking. Not only do you arrive on the homepage and then immediately like the phone is rotating and you're seeing it in itself. It feels very cinematic. They never rely on just telling you what it does. They want to show you. A19 Pro vapor cooled for lightning fast performance, breakthrough battery life, and then what do they show? Right, they're showing the actual technology. There's this mist cloud. There's water running through it. You don't need to read the copy to understand it. They simply have a video that just shows you the motion immediately. When you're trying to explain what the iPhone does to people, like just watch this. And they just show you the quick 60-second teaser video because there's so many visual stacking that goes onto it. And these guys are masters in it. As the old adage goes, a picture tells a thousand words. What I like to say is that a video tells a million words. This is a masterass at visually stacking different elements of what it is that you're doing to make your point across and to make people want it.
Now, you might be watching this and thinking, Subbury, like I don't have a product business. I'm not selling little demonic toys or toothpaste serum. So, a great way to use this if you're a service-based business is to simply take stock and look at your market and have a look at how everybody in your marketplace is communicating. What does the customer see when they go online and they research? What do their website looks like? What does their ad copy look like? What are the ads that they put out to their marketplace? How do they feel? Well, that's exactly what I did and that's what led me to launch these outrageous VSSLs. I took stock at my marketplace and I had a look at what most people do. They get all professional. They turn the camera on and they deliver a talking head video sales letter. Instead, I wanted to zigg while everybody else zagged. I had small people beat me up. I walked around with baby oil on my bare chested body. I had donkeys. I was out and about in parks with wild transitions. It can even be the copy on your website. You can use copy and quirky messaging to be something that people actually talk about because it's so different.
Another way that you can do this is by having a bold guarantee. Something that I call a godfather offer, which is an offer that is so good that your prospects simply can't refuse it. And that's exactly what I did when I started my business. I came out with a guarantee that was page one Google rankings in 90 days or I work for free. And then word got out and people started talking about, hey, have you seen this agency that actually guarantees results? And I used that one spectacle stacking to go out and build the fastest growing digital agency in the whole of the country. You can either go on the ad sites, your ad copy, your brand messaging, and you can also partner that with a bold guarantee and stack them on top of each other to get your message heard.
After searching through what felt like a thousand stores around the city, my luck may have finally turned and I find a store with a single Lubu left in stock. So, after hunting these things down, I have finally secured one of these freaking infamous Leubu dolls. Let's see what we've got. Oh, >> we ready? >> We're ready. >> Moment of truth. Oh, let's go. I'm not going to even look. I'm just going to whip it out. Come on. Please, just be the ly. Be the freaking liche berry. Oh my god. What do I got here? Bloody blue. What is this blue [ __ ] man? I can't give her this, man. I can't rock up and give her this where she has explicitly asked for the light she buried. Man, no one has this stuff.
>> So, maybe that one's for you. You can hang it in your Ferrari.
>> Oh my god. I'm going to use this to clean my car. I'm just going to wash my car with. That's how much I'm going to disrespect this little thing.
I've got one last hope to get this Laboo in my hand. And I know just the place to get it. All righty. So, what about SAS? My software peeps. You didn't think I was going to leave you high and dry, did you? Never. Let's take a look at some great examples of this.
First up is Cal AAI. The founder of this app is an 18-year-old. These guys are doing about $34 million according to reported sources. So, what is it? It is a calorie counting app, but instead of using it like My Fitness Pal does, where you have to manually key in all of the different macros and whatnot to get your calories, you just snap a photo on your phone and it uses AI to calculate all of that stuff. That in itself is a spectacle. and they stack it one on top of each other because not only do you take a photo of the food, then it's like separating out the ingredients, calculating your macros. When you use it, it feels like magic. And that's exactly how spectacle stacking works. They then take that message and they put it on steroids by partnering with fitness influencers like Chris Bumstead that will then go out and again, he can make a very native looking video of like, check out this new app I'm using and it's really handy. I don't need to manually enter my macros anymore. I can just take a photo. It gives them a handle that an influencer can pick up, put over here, and it just takes off. And that's exactly what these guys are doing to do $34 million a year in revenue.
>> All you got to do is take a picture of your food, and it tracks your calories and macros instantly.
>> Everything that they're telling me now after that fact, it's just supplemental information. You understand the whole premise of it immediately in the hook. And then you've got the rest of your ad to further back up those things.
>> All you got to do is put in a little bit of info about yourself and it'll create a plan just for you. And for those of you that are really extreme into tracking, Cali has a really nice barcode system and food library for even better accuracy.
Again, just like Apple, every single feature is backed up with a visual stack of this is this is a feature. And let me just show you how it works. If they didn't have such a good interface and UI, then you would just be manually putting things through. Every single feature has those visual elements, which just makes it so much more compelling.
So, we've just found some food here in the office. If we just take a photo of this puppy. Oh, yep. analyzing the food. We'll notify you when it's done. All right, it's got it here. Overnight oats, 350 calories. Let's look at the macro spit. 12 g of protein, 55 g of carbs, and 8 g of fat. A health score, you got a 6 out of 10 on the health score scale. Doesn't give you anything else about it, but you can add your own ingredients. That's pretty damn good. All right, our next suspect is this Domino's pizza. I'm going to say this is 6,000 calories. Here we go. Analyzing the food. Separating out the ingredients. Good luck on that. 1,680 calories. 84 g of protein. There is no way there's 84 g of protein in that. 180 g of carb and 72 g of oil. Yeah, this is dramatically off. Let's have a look. I'm going to go on to the Domino's website. Meatlovers pizza calories. 480 calories per slice. These guys are undershooting it dramatically. 3,840 calories. So, these guys are like half. They're calculating half. I was going on that, I would find it very difficult to shred. Let's try something a little bit more healthy. We've got avocado, salsa, beetroot, chicken. 210 calories. That is wrong. 4 g of protein. That is also wrong. But look, to its credit, the chicken breast is kind of hiding underneath the salsa. But again, it doesn't really do what it says it does on the box.
Which brings us to step number four, which is to build distribution into the product or service itself. You want to think about how can I make my customers a walking billboard for this. Once you do the hard job of creating the spectacles, then the market does the hard work for you by spreading that message out and getting you distribution. So, if you're a service-based business, what is some crazy ad that you can put out there that gets people to want to share it in the first place? Or it might not be an ad. It might be a bold offer that naturally gets people talking about you and your business. And that in itself builds in distribution into your offer. And a great question to ask is, how can my customer show off or showcase this product for me and give me built-in distribution?
All righty. So, this next one, Chloe, very well might be the best example and demonstration of spectacle stacking that I've ever seen. This again is run by a bunch of young kids. They went out and raised $15 million from Andre and Horowitz in investment funding. Their launch video took over the internet because it showed firsthand exactly how the product worked. It is a screen that goes in front of a Zoom call. It goes in front of a G-hat. It basically takes over your computer. In other words, whatever you're engaging with, the AI is scanning it and it's coming up with multiple different branches that you can go down to give you the answers of what it's seeing in front of them. And then their buy line is just cheat on anything. And so these guys have taken a product that is so interesting and it has virality baked in and they are just turning the knob up on the verality dial. Even the way that these guys launched, the founder used this technology to cheat his way into university and then they use that as the spectacle and they're layering multiple of these points in there and that's why this thing is just going completely nuts right now.
So let's watch this thing.
>> So uh how old did you say you were?
>> Um I'm 30. 30 years old. Your profile says you worked at Banazmazon.
>> Uh yeah. Yeah. I've been there for the uh past 8 years doing um like senior software engineering. So, you know, like coding
>> really.
>> All of the different features in this, they're being showcased in real time during this conversation. It's obviously a contraversial topic to go into of like lying while you're out on a first date, but it's perfect.
All right, let's take this software for a spin and actually see what it's like. So, I have teed up the director of Brain Rot at my company. He's going to be peppering me with some very specific questions to see if Chloe can come up with the answers on the fly. How are we doing, director of Brain Rot?
>> Yo, you got some questions for me?
>> I do. I worked hard on these questions.
>> All right, shoot.
>> What was the very first YouTube video ever uploaded?
>> Wait, this thing's breaking. Um, what was the very first Okay, so I'm just getting used to. So, it says, "What was the very first YouTube video ever?" I can click on this. The very first YouTube video was called Me at the Zoo and was uploaded by George Kim on April 23rd, 2005. Like, these are rookie questions, man. I'm I told you I know everything in the world. So, hit me with your hard and hairy questions.
>> What was the first product ever scanned with a barcode?
>> The first product ever scanned on a barcode was a pack of Wrigley's Juicy Fruit on the 26th, right, of 1974. I'm like the elephant. I remember every single fact that there is. What else you got? Turn up the heat.
>> What Pokémon is number 428? Cuz I know how much you love Pokémon.
>> This is easy. Easy rookie numbers. This is low pony.
>> Yeah, that's that is correct.
All right. So, clearly I have the advantage. It literally sits over your face right now. So, I'm not looking to the side or anything while we've still got eye contact and I can see exactly what's going on. There you go. So, that's it. Look, it's very very visual. I think that literally once you see it for 1 second, you immediately know what it's doing. This might be the future of AI because you're not actually having to put in prompts. It's just monitoring what it is that you're doing and it's trying to be intuitive to where the next thing is and it feels much more immersive.
Since hunting around in stores was an absolute fail, I decided to try my luck in one of the darkest and sediest corners in the whole of the internet, Facebook Marketplace. A lot of these dolls are either fake, opened, or used. But the internet gods are on my side because I stumble upon one that's unopened. I immediately harass a seller to check if it's still available. Let's just hope that it's not a scam.
All righty. So, the fifth and final step is to test and amplify. So, once you've sat down and you thought about, okay, cool. I think this is a good spectacle. Let me stack this on top of another one. Then you want to start testing this stuff and seeing what kind of cut through that you do. It might be sharing it on your socials organically and seeing does this get more re-shares? Are more people commenting and liking on this post? You might run a small event. It might be at a market, whatever. It needs to be a controlled environment where you're not just going out to absolutely everyone and cranking the dial up to 10. Once you do this and you test a few different things, you will start to see what is resonating and what isn't. And once you found the right one, you will know it. And the way that you'll know it is it will feel like it's marketing itself and people are naturally going out and talking about it and sharing it and taking photos or videos and there's a little bit of chatter around your product or service. That is a clear indicator that you've got a good spectacle on your hand.
And this is exactly what I had in mind when I built my own copywriting AI software comp. I thought, okay, this is how a landing page visually works. These are all the components. Let me have the output fill out exactly these components in real time. That in itself creates these sharable moments where people like you have to see this. This is ridiculous. This thing creates a whole landing page in like 7 seconds. And it's like someone has taken over your computer and they're writing you high converting compelling copy right in front of your eyes. Check this out. So, we literally click a button to create a landing page rather than them just waiting around and then only once the landing page is ready do they get to view it. No, check this out. It's writing it in real time. And this is a wow factor because when somebody goes in here, they put all their information in, they click generate, it's like they have the best copywriter in the world taking over their screen and writing them a landing page right in front of your eyes with all the different sections. they can visually see how this would look on a long-form landing page and that in itself makes it sharable. That's why so many people are sharing this thing online because it's like they're sitting down watching someone, the AI, write them a landing page right in front of your eyes. If you're interested in taking this little bad boy for a spin, there is a link in the description.
The labubu grey marker dealer replied and says that it's still available. So, I sent out my editor as tribute to secure the goods. Boom. Package acquired. Fingers crossed it's the pink lie berry because I don't know what I'm going to do if it's not.
>> Here we go again. The Laboo roulette. Here we go. Moment of truth. Are you joking? That is ridiculous. We secured it. Finally got this little thing. The ly berry baby. She's going to love this. I can't believe that this stupid little doll got me whipped up into so much of her friends. I can see why they've sold 670 million of these things. It's the last time I even want to talk about levers ever again. And if you liked this video, you are going to absolutely love this one that I did on hero mechanisms. Like, subscribe, and I'll see you in the next one.
