By thy session at the right hand of the Father. By my partaking of thy holy mysteries, make me worthy of the portion of the saved at thy right hand. Thou, by the coming of the Comforter of thy Spirit, make thy disciples precious vessels. Show me forth also as a receiver of his coming. I stand before the doors of thy temple, yet I do not put away my previous thoughts. But do thou, Christ God, who justified the publican and had mercy on the Canaanitish woman, open the gates of heaven and open the gates of paradise to the thief. Open unto me the bounds of thy love for man. And as I approach and touch thee, receive me like the woman with the issue of blood, and like the harlot. If I have told you earthly things and you do not believe, how can you believe if I tell you heavenly things? No one has ascended into heaven but he who descended from heaven, the Son of Man who is in heaven. There was a I remember hearing a um just a little vignette. Um, and again, it could be a fable. I don't know if it's actually true or not. But it was from the days of communist Russia where in kind of the cosmopolitan city, everybody was educated and an atheist. And out in the country, they, you know, sort of look the other way, and they had some churches and they had some priests and things like that, and people still practiced their faith. And a government bureaucrat, a scientist of some sort, came out to some small country town, and he gathered the town's people, including the priest, and he sat the priest up on the stage with him. And he kept, he would make these bold claims of atheism. "Christianity cannot be true because of X, Y, and Z. Don't you see it's foolish? And the priests are just odd." He said, "Oh, you're a very educated man." And he would make more claims. "You see, this is this is a religion for rubes. You're poor country folk. Be educated. I'm here to educate you." And the priest would say, "Oh, you, you're very educated. You're a very smart man." And finally, he said, "Well, does the priest have anything to say for my claims?" And he stands up. He said, "I'm just a country priest. I don't have a lot to say. There's not a lot I can even defend against your education, superior intellect. You come from the university, you come from Moscow, you're out here to teach us things, and there's really no debating." He says, "But I, I, I'm not sure that the people will truly or even can truly believe you." The government bureaucrat, he says, "Well, that's preposterous. Did you see everything I laid out? What would prevent him from believing me?" And the older, uneducated country priest, he says, "Well, it's just one thing." He looks out at the people and he says, "Christ is risen."
