If you are taking notes, the title of my sermon is the power of a moment. The power of a moment. And moments are powerful. Moments are powerful in life. You don't live life in time. You live life through moments.
You don't just remember when you think of your life. You don't just remember time. You don't remember every day when you was five or when you was 15 or when you were 20. You don't remember every day last week. You remember moments. You remember moments in your life. Your life is a collection of the moments you live. I remember moments. I don't remember every day of my life. I don't remember every minute. I don't remember every hour. Oh, but I remember key moments. I remember when I turned five. When I turned five, they blindfolded me and I had a piñata and I was swinging at this piñata and I was missing. Just miss, miss miss, miss miss. And then I end up putting the bat down. Another kid came, grabbed the bat, he hit my pinata and candy went everywhere and I cried. I WAS AND I GRABBED THAT BAT AND I WAS CHASING THAT KID. AH, YOU HIT MY PIN. AND I'M CHASING that kid and I was the absolute mess. And at that point, I was like, "Okay, I may need deliverance someday." And um and I'm chasing this kid with a bat because he hit my piñata. And I'm chasing him with a bat because I was mad. I was angry. I don't remember the rest of the day. I could have been a great uh child of God. I could have served people, prayed for people, and loved on people. I don't remember nothing else. I just remember chasing that kid with a bat. Why? Because it was a pivot. It was a pivotal circumstance in my life. We remember moments. We live in moments. We live through moments. You remember moments. Some of you guys remember moments in school when you did something really good. Or maybe you won a championship. I remember almost every touchdown I scored. Uh uh uh uh. You want to know what I don't remember? When I got scored on. Uh uh uh uh. I don't remember none of that. Why? Because those are bad moments. Don't want those out. You know what I'm saying? We remember moments. Some of you guys are like, "Man, I remember my wedding day. It was amazing. He was cute and she was cute and everything was slow motion." Some of y'all divorced like, "I don't remember nothing about that day." You know, don't want to, right? We remember moments. I remember the moment my daughter was born and I thought I was a G until I cried like a baby the whole entire time. I remember that moment. I remember moments. You remember moments. We live in moments. Moments are powerful. And sometimes God will change your life in a moment. Sometimes he would take brokenness off of you in a moment. Sometimes he would break addiction in a moment. Sometimes he would break fear in a moment, anxiety in a moment, depression in a moment. That we live our life through moments.
And there's good moments and bad moments. And the thing about a moment is a moment can build your life and a moment can destroy your life. And in life, you have to be able to discern the moment. Let me say that again. You got to be able to discern the moment. Sometimes you meet somebody and it's a divine moment. And now you just connected with somebody that's going to catapult your destiny and change your life. And then sometimes you meet somebody that's about to destroy your life. You got to be able to discern that, too.
It's a spirit and it ain't holy. Like you got to be able to discern moments. Life is lived in moments. I remember a moment in my life. Never forget it. My aunt called my mom and when she called my mom, it was on speaker phone cuz my mama always talk on speaker phone. And my aunt said this to her. She said, "He keeps getting in trouble. California is bad. you need to move him to the south to good old texter Canada, Texas where he going to stay out of trouble and slow down." And I was in the background like the devil is a liar. And and my aunt told my mom, I need to move to Texas. And and and and for my mom, you know, this was a moment for her. This was a moment. This is a Chyros moment. This is a divine moment. And I don't know what's going on in the inside of her, but it's a moment. And as I look back on that moment, it feels differently. And here's the deal. When I moved here, it was the worst moment of my life. And the reason it was the worst moment of my life is because two days later, I got home from school. I had plans that night. And my mom was like, "Hey, we going to go. We have a U-Haul all packed up." I'm like, "How we going to go?" I got plans.
She was like, "Well, you better plan to get your stuff and get in this U-Haul cuz we moving to good old Texas." AND I'M LIKE, "NO, I'M A Cali boy." And I love you Texans. And I've been I've been I split my life in both. But man, deep down on the inside of me, I'm still a Cali boy cuz that's where I'm from. And it was a moment. But then when I look back in history, all the friends I hung out with are either dead or in jail or doing nothing. And my mom identified a moment that would change my life forever. And we're at Radiant Church this morning because my mom could discern the moment.
And I WOULDN'T HAVE MET CHRIST THERE. AND I WOULDN'T HAVE BEEN A PREACHER there and I wouldn't have got saved there. But I did hear because my mom recognized the moment and that moment decided where I would live and where I live decided who I would be. Moments are everything. I remember my wife and I for a few years we were best friends. We never had any intent to date. We would never date. it just wouldn't happen cuz our personalities just wouldn't let it. And one day I was dropping something off to her brother and we're sitting outside and we're talking and I'm about to get ready to leave. And as I get ready to leave, she asked me this question. She said, "Why is a great God like you still single?" Pause. FREEZE. THIS IS A MOMENT.
THIS IS A MOMENT. AND I'M SITTING HERE AND THERE'S TWO WAYS I CAN GO. A, I CAN PLAY A MODESTISH OR B, I CAN SHOOT MY SHOT. I'M IN A MOMENT. I'LL NEVER GET THIS MOMENT. IT'S HER. IT'S ME. It's cold. It feels LIKE A R&B VIDEO. THIS IS THE MOMENT. AND I'M GOING BACK AND FORTH IN MY HEAD. I'M THINKING QUICK AND I DON'T KNOW IF SHE KNOW IT'S A MOMENT, BUT I KNOW IT'S A MOMENT. And I'm about to get ready to leave and it's a moment that would have never been repeated. And I had a I could be like, "Well, you know, ain't no good women around here." Or I could say the dumbest thing ever, which is what I said. She said, "WHY IS A GIRL LIKE GUY LIKE YOU'RE SINGLE?" I SAID, "WELL, THAT'S CUZ I WOULD WANT TO BE WITH SOMEONE LIKE YOU." Immediately, I knew I was a So, I I I tried to run to the vehicle. I was like, "Okay, bye." AND SHE WAS LIKE, "COME BACK." I WAS LIKE, "NO." She said, "We going to talk about this." I said, "No." And if I would have never said what I said in a moment, where would her life be today without her trophy husband? I'm just playing. WHERE WOULD I BE WITHOUT MY TROPHY WIFE? RIGHT? What would she be without me? You know, it's like the old lady, huh? She married the mayor and her and her boyfriend of high school was he just worked at a gas station and the mayor was like, "See, look, you're with me cuz if you would have married him, you would have been working with a guy that just works at the gas station." She said, "No, boy. If I would have been with him, he would have been a mayor and you would have been working at the gas station. GO GET IT TWISTED. COME ON, WOMEN OF GOD. MAKE SOME NOISE." RIGHT? SO, it was a moment. Life is lived in moments. And I had to recognize that moment. You got to be able to discern a moment. You know, you watch those things on TV and it's like there's this homeless guy and he's sitting there and he's like begging for food and then all of a sudden like like there's like a job interview happening and then the first guy comes, he like kicks the homeless guy. Bam. And he's just like beat up the guy. I know that's dramatic. And then he just goes to the job interview. Then the next person that comes, it's a lady. She's like, "Hey sir, are you okay? Do you want like some coffee?" She gives him coffee and a donut. She gives him the hug and give him some money. And she goes up to the interview. And then they're in the interview talking like 5 minutes later, the bomb comes with a suit on. He's the CEO.
And he's like, "See, you're treating me bad. You're treating me good. You're hired. You're fired." Like moments. And I know that's dramatic.
But sometimes life does have that irony. It
really does. that life is lived in moments. And sometimes when you just have the right heart and the right posture, you do the right thing in the right moment without even knowing it sometimes.
But then there's times where you have to be able to discern the moment. The gentleman I'm going to talk about today in the Bible is a guy that didn't miss the moment. And I hope you don't miss yours. If you have your Bibles, go to the book of Mark, chapter 10. I'll give you a second to get there. Don't miss the moment. There's power in a moment. Mark 10 verse 46 and it reads now they came to Jericho and he went out of Jericho with his disciples and a great multitude and a great multitude blind Barnameus the son of Tmus sat by the road begging and when he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth. He began to cry out and say, "Jesus, son of David, have mercy on me." Then many warned him to be quiet. But he cried out all the more, "SON OF DAVID, have mercy on me." So Jesus stood still and commanded him to be called. Then they called the blind man, saying to him, "BE OF GOOD CHEER. RISE. HE IS CALLING YOU." And throwing aside his garment, he rose and came to Jesus. So Jesus answered and said to him, "What do you want me to do for you?" The blind man said to him, "Ramboni, that I may receive my sight." Then Jesus said to him, "Go your way. Your faith has made you well." And immediately he received his sight and followed Jesus on the road.
Now I want to give you a little background on blind bar nmus. So let's just kind of dig into his life a little bit. And the first thing I want you to know is in that culture if you was blind you lost everything. You lost everything. Why? Because to be blind in that culture because they were ignorant which just means they was just uninformed and uneducated. They were ignorant. So they thought to be blind meant to be cursed by God. Even in the Bible I believe in the book of John somewhere there was a blind man. There was like hey is he is did his mom and dad sin? Did he sin? Why is he cursed? They thought you was cursed when you were blind. So he was think to be cursed. So a lot of blind people, their family would disown them, disconnect to him. We don't want to be associated. You were cursed. And then they would be homeless. They would be beggars and they would beg in that day. They would have a coat like this cloak they would put on and it was a symbol of being a beggar. They would sit by the road. They would beg people for money and they would just beg, beg, beg so they can eat, survive and live. It was really lonely. It was really sad. Sometimes they wouldn't have places to take showers and get clean. We see that today in our world. We see many homeless people that would kind of fit this category to a certain extent. So we do have an idea of what this was like. But many times you may see this, but you don't always see someone that's blind as well. And to be blind was difficult. I don't want to skip over this concept that he was blind. He was blind Barnameus. And the reason why I don't want to skip over this concept of him being blind is many of you in this room, maybe all of you, maybe there's someone in here that don't, but many of you guys have no idea what it's like to be blind.
Yeah. And I had no idea what it's like to be blind. So I read a couple articles from blind people explaining their experience being blind. So when I preach to you, I can kind of give you an idea of what it's like. To be blind means to be able to never put a face to who you love.
To never be able to put a face to who helped you. To have children and not know what they look like. To to maybe have a spouse and not know what they look like. To not even know what you look like. to not even know what light looks like.
To not even know what the ground that you walk on look like or now you're eating food that you can't see. You don't even know what color is.
You don't know what you you so you're eating. You don't know what food looks like. You don't know what anything looks like. If someone's talking about a dog or a cat, you can't tell the difference. You don't know what anything looks like. You don't know what a building looks like. You don't know what a house look like. You never seen water. You never seen grass. You never seen clouds. You never seen the sky. You never seen people. You don't even know what a person looks like.
This is how devastating it is to be blind. And also, it's to live in continual perpetual darkness. It's like when you go to sleep and it's dark and you can't see anything. Imagine waking and living that way. You can't see anything. Imagine how difficult, imagine how lonely, imagine how disconnected you would feel if you lived blind. And you've never seen. You don't even know what it means to see. This is what blind Barnameus lived like. And you may have moments in your life when you go through darkness. He lived in darkness.
And this is what it meant to be blind. And this is what he and this is what he dealt with being blind. Now, here's what happens. Whenever a human loses one of their senses, their other senses get hiden because the part of the brain that would focus on that sense is directed back to another sense. So many people that's blind, when I read their articles, they had a heightened sense of hearing. Not that they could hear better than us, but they had a focus hearing. Why? Because when you hear something, you don't know where it's coming from. You hear a sound and you look and you're like, "Okay, it's coming from there." And you look, you like it's coming from there. Well, they couldn't look. So, they would have to know the direction of sound. They had to know where sound was coming from, what direction sound was coming from. They could hear something. And they can know if it came from behind them, beside them, in front of them, diagonal, left side, right side. They can discern where something was coming from. And they can focus and hear sounds and they can learn and they could process information through the audio ear because that's all they had.
They didn't have sight to learn from. You learned through your eyes and you learned through your ears. They just learned through their ears. So their ears was heightened and their ears were sharpened because they did not have the ability to see. This is what it meant to be blind. This is blind Barnameus. Now I'm going to dig a little bit deeper because blind Barnameus is now on Jericho's road. And Jericho is where the travelers and traders would come. It was very busy. There was a great multitude. There was thousands of people that would walk up and down the street where he was at on the roadside of Jericho. There was traders. There was travelers. There was all kind of stuff coming. All kind of activity. It would be like you in a busy city and you're going down like a New York City or a city a New York street or a city in New Orleans where there's just all kind of foot traffic and all kind of stuff going on and marketplaces and trading and and changing in food and activity. He was there at a place like this where there was so much noise and there was so much commotion and there was so many things that was happening. Now let me take you back to the pain and the struggle of being blind. Imagine being blind and a loud sound went off and everyone got scared and started running and you didn't know what to do because you couldn't see.
Everyone was running. Everyone was scared. It's dangerous. Oh no, what's happening? And you're just stuck froze not knowing what to do because you can't see.
My god.
And he would have that reality many days because he was blind. Now the Bible said he had heard that Jesus of Nazareth was here.
And he knew who Jesus of Nazareth was. But guess what? He didn't know from reading the Bible. Why? Cuz he couldn't read the Bible because he couldn't see. Which means he must have been sitting around listening to people talk about this Jesus. Listening to people talk about these Old Testament prophecies. Listening to people quote the book of Isaiah. And he's hearing messianic prophecies. And he didn't just know that Jesus of Nazareth was coming. He knew who Jesus was because he said, "Jesus, son of David, have mercy on me. Jesus, son of David, have mercy on me. Jesus, son of David, have mercy on me." In other words, to be son of David means that Jesus was the promised Messiah that would come through the house of David, which means he WAS THE CHRIST. HE DIDN'T JUST think Jesus was an ordinary man. He knew Jesus was an extraordinary man. He didn't just think Jesus was a normal man. He knew Jesus was the God man. Because he said, "Son of David, have mercy on me." There was many people there in that crowd that day, but very few would call Jesus son of David. Because when you called him son of David, it was messianic prophecy. you were saying that you are the Christ.
And he knew it was the SON OF DAVID. WHY? BECAUSE HE HAD BEEN SITTING THERE listening to people talk about the son of David that would come. And when he HEARD ABOUT JESUS AND HE HEARD ABOUT THE miracles and he HEARD ABOUT THE SIGNS, HE SAID, "THIS MUST BE THE SON of David THAT I HEARD PREACHED ABOUT AND HE'S HERE." YEAH.
And this beggar that was blind in that moment was the only person in the crowd that could truly see.

Because many saw a man that can do great works. He saw the son of David. He saw the Messiah. He saw the Christ. YOU DON'T NEED EYES TO SEE JESUS. ALL YOU NEED TO DO IS HEAR A WORD. YOU DON'T NEED EYES TO SEE HIM. ALL YOU NEED TO DO IS HEAR A WORD. AND I WANT TO TELL YOU SOMETHING. The Bible says faith don't come by seeing. Faith comes by hearing and hearing the word of God. AND HE HEARD THE word of God. And he heard that Jesus was there. And I just want to tell you, maybe you're blind in your situation. Maybe you can't see a way out of your situation. Maybe you can't see a way out of your anxiety. Maybe you can't see a way OUT OF YOUR DEPRESSION. BUT I GOT GOOD NEWS. JESUS IS THE SON of David. AND HE IS HERE THIS MORNING. AND HE'S NOT AGAINST YOU. HE IS FOR YOU. AND IT'S YOUR JOB TO CRY OUT AND SAY, "SON OF DAVID, HAVE MERCY ON ME. AND HE SAW WHEN NO ONE ELSE CAN SEE who was truly there.
It was Jesus, son of David. Faith comes by hearing. And this man with blind eyes saw a moment. He saw a moment that many didn't see. He saw a moment to get healed. He saw a moment for breakthrough. He saw a moment where his life will be forever transformed. He identified the moment. And I don't know what you're going through this morning. I don't know what's going on in your life. I don't know who invited you here. I don't know why you're here. I don't know what you came for. But don't miss the moment.
Yeah. Come on.
Don't miss the moment cuz God is doing something. Don't miss the moment cuz he can change your life today. Don't miss the moment. He could break pornography off of you today. Don't miss the moment. He could break addiction off of you today. Don't miss the moment. He could break generational curses off of you today. This thing may rent in your family for 100 YEARS, BUT TODAY ONCE IT RUNS INTO YOU, IT CAN BE BROKEN BY THE POWER OF JESUS. DON'T MISS THE MOMENT.
And he cried out, "Son of David, have mercy on me."
And why did he say mercy? Because mercy is different than grace. He didn't ask for grace.
Because mercy is getting what you don't deserve. He was saying, "I don't deserve to see. I don't deserve to have my sight. But I'm just asking you, son of David, will you have mercy on me? And sometimes you got to go to God and say, "God, just give me a little mercy. I know I don't deserve it, but just give me a little mercy. I know I didn't earn it, but just give me a little mercy. I know I dropped the ball, but just give me a little mercy." And he asked the son of David to have mercy on him. And he began to cry out, "SON OF DAVID, HAVE MERCY ON ME. SON OF DAVID, HAVE MERCY ON ME. SON OF DAVID, HAVE MERCY on me." And then the crowd came to him AND THEY SAID, "SHUT UP.
SHUT UP." AND THE REASON THEY TOLD HIM TO shut up is because you're poor. You don't have no money. You don't have no status. You don't have no symbol. You little beggar. You shut up. Jesus is here and you need to be quiet and stay in your place AND KEEP BEGGING FOR CHANGE.
Shut up. And the crowd told him to shut up. And I love what blind Barnameus did. The Bible says when they told him to shut up, they said he cried out even louder. And he cried out even more, "SON OF DAVID, HAVE MERCY ON ME. SON OF DAVID, HAVE MERCY ON ME. SON OF DAVID, HAVE MERCY ON ME. SON OF DAVID, HAVE MERCY ON ME." WHY? BECAUSE I'M NOT GOING TO LISTEN TO THE CROWD. BECAUSE YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT IT'S LIKE TO LIVE IN DARKNESS. YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT IT'S LIKE TO NOT KNOW WHERE YOUR NEXT MEAL COMING FROM. YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT IT'S LIKE TO HAVE TO SLEEP IN THE RAIN. YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT IT'S LIKE TO HAVE TO SLEEP IN A COLD. YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT IT'S LIKE TO HAVE TO BE OUTSIDE. YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT I GO THROUGH. AND BECAUSE YOU CAN'T UNDERSTAND MY CRY, DON'T STOP ME FROM CALLING OUT TO JESUS. SON OF DAVID, HAVE MERCY ON ME. AND I BELIEVE SOME OF YOU GUYS CAN'T GET BREAKTHROUGH CUZ YOU'RE A LITTLE TOO CUTE AND YOU'RE A LITTLE TOO CONVENIENT AND YOU'RE A LITTLE TOO PUT TOGETHER. SOMETIMES YOU GOT TO CRY OUT. SOMETIMES YOU GOT TO GET OUT YOUR SEAT. SOMETIMES YOU GOT TO LIFT YOUR VOICE. SOMETIMES YOU GOT TO HAVE A DESPERATE FAITH, A RADICAL FAITH, AND SAY, "SON OF DAVID, HAVE MERCY ON ME. DELIVERANCE AIN'T ALWAYS BEAUTIFUL AND DELIGHTFUL. SOMETIMES IT'S UGLY. IT'S NAUGHTY.
And you may say,
preacher,
is it really that serious?
Is it that serious?
Do I really got to do all that
to be healed,
to be restored, for Jesus to move in my life? And my answer would be maybe not, maybe not. But when I read your Bible, I ain't read about one desperate person that didn't get a touch. Let me say it again. I ain't read about one desperate person that didn't get a touch. Cuz a lady with the issue of blood, she crawled through the crowd. She said, "But if I could just touch the HEM OF HIS GARMENT, I CAN BE MADE WHOLE." AND JESUS SAID, "WOMAN, YOUR FAITH HAS MADE YOU WHOLE." I SEE A GROUP OF FRIENDS THAT HAD A PARALYZED FRIEND THAT CUT DOWN THE ROOF of a BUILDING AND LOWERED THAT FRIEND IN AND THAT FRIEND GOT UP AND HE STARTED WALKING. I'M TELLING YOU, THERE'S SOMETHING ABOUT A DESPERATE FAITH. THERE'S SOMETHING ABOUT A RADICAL FAITH. AND WHEN YOU HAVE A DESPERATE FAITH AND A RADICAL FAITH, all of a sudden it CAUSES JESUS TO STOP. THE BIBLE SAYS JESUS STOPPED FOR THE MAN. Not only did Jesus stand still and stop, Jesus was on his way to Jerusalem to go through the Passover ceremonies. He was on his way to the cross.
Which means that this poor low status beggar interrupted Easter.
He paused Easter. His cry, his intercessory, his intercessory faith, his radical faith froze Easter. Jesus was on the way to Easter. And this man cried caused Jesus to stop. He paused Easter. I'm not saying you can't get a miracle if you're not radical, but I'm just saying sometimes radical faith will cause something that happened that didn't even supposed to. Come on.
Because in the Bible, many times you see this phrase. And many times I read this phrase, it say your faith has made you well.
When I read the scripture, every time it usually says that is when somebody did something radical.
Somebody was desperate. And this is what I think Jesus is saying in that statement. I don't think Jesus is saying that your faith is so powerful that your own faith healed you. I don't believe he's saying that because what about the person that's not desperate? What about the person that didn't have faith and they still got healed? I believe Jesus is saying your faith initiated your miracle.
In other words, Jesus was a man, which means many times he walked past plenty of sick people.
If Jesus would have healed everyone sick, he'd still be here doing it now. Too many sick people.
Yeah.
So, yeah, there were some people that was orchestrated to get healed like Lazarus. Lazarus come forth. Yeah. Jesus was orchestrating that miracle and that healing. But maybe Jesus was just passing through Jericho today. And maybe it wasn't on the books for that man to get healed. Now God knew he would do it because he's omnisient. He's all knowing. But Jesus was just passing through Jericho. But that man faith interrupted Jesus plan. And Jesus stood still. WHAT DO YOU DO when Jesus stands still? You can have the kind of faith that CAUSES JESUS TO STOP. JESUS COULD BE DOING A DIFFERENT THING AND YOUR FAITH IS SO BOISTEROUS. IT'S SO RAMBUNCTIOUS and radical that it CAUSES JESUS TO FREEZE AND STOP. THAT'S THE KIND OF FAITH I WANT. MAYBE JESUS CAME THROUGH RADIANT Church to release some glory today. OH, BUT YOU GOT A FAITH THAT'S SO RADICAL. AND A FAITH THAT'S SO DESPERATE THAT YOU'RE GOING TO GET TESTED AND YOU WEREN'T SUPPOSED TO. YOU'RE GOING TO GET HEALED AND YOU WEREN'T SUPPOSED TO. YOU'RE GOING TO GET DELIVERED AND YOU WEREN'T SUPPOSED TO. CHAINS ARE GOING TO GET BROKEN THEY WEREN'T SUPPOSED TO. SHACKLES IS GOING TO FALL AND THEY WEREN'T SUPPOSED TO. WHAT DO YOU DO WHEN JESUS stands still?
And there was this radical faith that would always get the attention of our God. He interrupted Easter and you can too.
You can too. So this man, he interrupted Easter and Jesus stopped.
And then here's what Jesus did. Jesus said, call for him to come to me. And I want to show you the craziest thing. The same crowd that told him to shut up was the same crowd like, "Hey, blind Barameus." Jesus said, "Get up and come to him."
Older people, this is what the younger people call switching. The crowd was co- switching. And from the beginning of time, crowds always co- switch. When Jesus came at one point, they cried out, "Hosana! Hosanna! Hosanna!" Next time he came, the same crowd said, "Crucify him! Crucify him! Crucify him." Why? Because crowds are always co- switching. And the same people that TOLD HIM TO SHUT UP ARE now the same people telling him to get up.
Why? Because when you're crying out in desperation for Jesus, people will tell you to shut up. OH, BUT WHEN JESUS CALLS FOR YOU NOW, THEY SAY, "GET UP." I'VE ALWAYS seen it. I've always seen the blessing on your life. I've always seen the anointing. I've always knew you can do it. IF YOU CAN STAND WITH ME IN MY CRY, DON'T TRY TO STAND WITH ME IN MY CALLING. IF YOU CAN STAND WITH ME IN MY CRYING, DON'T TRY TO STAND WITH ME IN MY CALLING.
Because the same people that told him TO SHUT UP WERE NOW THE PEOPLE trying to usher him to Jesus. And that's what people would do. They would see the blessing AND THE HAND OF GOD AND the anointing on your life. And the same people that was telling you to shut up are saying, "Hey, go ahead and stand up. I see what God is doing."
No, you shut up. No, don't be like that. Forgive. Sometimes I got to remember, turn the other cheek. But Jesus said, "Call for him to come to me." This is why God's ways is higher than our ways and his thoughts are higher than our thoughts. Because I would have told Jesus, I would have been like, "Jesus, you're being rude.
You're being rude, Jesus." Because here you are full of strength and divinity. Like, you can walk on water. I'm sure Jesus could fly if he wanted to. You know what I'm saying? Why would you stand still and ask the blind man to walk through a crowd to get to you? Feels a little insensitive. And I believe that Jesus did that is because Jesus wasn't only going to touch blind Barnameus. He was going to touch everybody that would hear his story.
He was going to touch everybody. That Jesus is so powerful that his that his his miracles are multi-layered and multi-dimensional. Because here's the deal. Jesus was trying to make blind Barnameus model something to you.
Come on.
And what was he trying to make blind Barname's model to you? He called the blind man to him. So guess what would happen? The blind man would have to get up and he would have to blindly find his way to Jesus. He would walk through the crowd and he would bump into people and he would step on people's toes trying to get to Jesus. And I want you to know sometimes when you get into Jesus, you got to bump into some people. You going to step on some toes as you're on the way to Jesus. And this IS WHAT BLIND BARNAMEUS HAD TO DO. HE HAD to bump people and step on toes to get to Jesus. And Jesus wanted to show you that sometimes you may have to do the same thing.
And why would Jesus make the blind man walk to him through the crowd? Because there's a scripture that says, "Don't walk by sight, walk by."
And a blind man can't walk by sight. All he can do is walk by faith. WHICH MADE HIM A PERFECT CANDIDATE TO MODEL TO YOU A FAITH walk
to model to you a faith walk. And I want you to know something. Sometimes when you can't see it, YOU STILL GOT TO WALK BY FAITH. SOMETIMES WHEN YOU CAN'T UNDERSTAND IT, YOU STILL GOT TO WALK BY FAITH. SOMETIMES WHEN YOU DON'T KNOW WHICH WAY TO GO, YOU STILL GOT TO WALK BY FAITH. SOMETIMES IT DON'T MAKE SENSE. OH, BUT IT ALWAYS MAKES FAITH. SOMETIMES YOU CAN'T SEE A WAY. OH, BUT HE ALWAYS MAKES A WAY. YOU GOT TO walk by faith.
And blind Barnameus showed us what it means to walk by faith. He came to Jesus because Jesus was letting him fulfill his faith. And you may not think it's a big deal. Oh, but when you can't see, every step is a miracle. Every step is a miracle. Every step is a miracle. And you may think his miracle came easy, but if you look at the story and you slow it down, M
there was a lot of steps he took.
First step he he heard. Second step he cried out.
Third step they told him to shut up. He said no and he cried out louder. The next step he asked Jesus to have mercy on him. The next step Jesus said hey I need you to come to me. He walked through the crowd. The next step Jesus asked him this. Jesus said what do you want me to do for you? I made it to Jesus.
Yeah.
And everything should be okay now.
Yeah.
And everything should be taken away now. All the pain should be gone. The guilt should be gone. The fear should be gone. The anxiety is gone. I made it to Jesus. Some of you guys think, "I'm in the house of God. I'm still hurting.
I'm in the house of God and I'm bleeding. I went to the altar and I'm still cut deep on the inside." What happens when you make it to Jesus and you're still blind?
Come on.
He didn't make it to Jesus and everything went away. He made it to Jesus still blind. And Jesus said, "What do you want me to do for you?"
Jesus knew what the man needed.
Jesus knew what the man wanted, but he asked him. Why would Jesus ask the man? Because he wanted him to continue his faith steps.
And Jesus wanted him to be radical. And he had to be radical because Jesus said, "What do you want me to do for him?" And guess what? Blind Barca said, "Man, I just want unlimited food. Man, I heard you giving out Long John Silver. Can I have some fish and bread? I need a home. I need a new beggar's coat cuz this one's dirty and it stinks. Like like I need a girlfriend. Hook a brother up. Like something like he could ask for anything. But he said that I may receive my sight.
And I want you to know I don't care what your condition is or what you're going through in this room.
Your number one prayer should always be that I may receive my sight.
You don't need the car, you need sight. You don't need the house, you need sight. You don't need food. You need sight. You don't even need a healing yet. You need sight because some of you guys are spiritually blind and you can't see what God is doing and you can't see what the scripture is saying and you can't see the prophecies and the promises that's allotted to you. You don't need a breakthrough. You need vision. You need sight. Because if you can get your sight back, you can know he's the son of David. If you can get your sight back, YOU CAN KNOW HE'S ALPHA AND OMEGA. If you can get your sight back, you can know he's kings, the king and the king of kings and the lord of lords. If you CAN GET YOUR SIGHT BACK, you can know there's none like him and none beside him. He has no rival and he has no equal. Can you get your sight back? Because you can see who he is and he is everything you need. Can we give him a shout of praise in this place?
I feel like preaching this morning.
Thank you, God.
So Jesus asked him, "What do you want me to do for you?" and he said that I may have my sight. And then Jesus said this. He said, "Go your way. Your faith has made you well." Translation, Jesus was saying this. I believe I believe when Jesus says this, he's saying your faith initiated the miracle.
It didn't make the miracle happen because Jesus has the power. Your faith initiated a miracle. And maybe, just maybe, it initiated a miracle that wasn't even supposed to happen. Now, let's dig deeper. I want to jump to verse 50 back in this. So, let's go back to verse 50. And it says, "And throwing aside his garment or his coat, he rose and came to Jesus." He rose and came to Jesus. So, he came to Jesus. He came to Jesus. My question is who came to Jesus? I'll tell you who came to Jesus. Blind Barnameus did. Now I want to stop this story for a second. I want you to stop and take a look at something. Here's what I want you to look at. You look at his name. Look at his name. The Bible calls him blind Barnameus as if blind is his first name.
And Barnameus is his last name.
He wasn't named blind when he was born.
He was named Barnameus.
Yeah.
And sometimes what ends up happening is is our issues become our identity.
And now we're no longer labeled by our identity. We're labeled by our issues. And some of you guys in this room, you've been the same thing. Oh, that's that liar. Oh, yeah. That's that that's that guy that's been divorced. That's that girl that's been divorced. Oh, yeah. That's that person. They failed. Their business fell. Oh, yeah. That's that person. Oh, yeah. That's that family. Yeah. They always do that. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Oh, yeah. You can't trust them. Oh, yeah. That was the person, you know, that got in a wreck. Yeah. You the person that got in a wreck before. Oh, yeah. That's that girl. She's promiscuous. Yeah. She sleeps with everybody. Oh, yeah. That's that guy. He was alcoholic. He was on drugs. And people start to call you by your issues instead of your identity.
And all of a sudden they named this man after his condition. They named him blind barnameus. But blind Barnameus was not his name. It was his condition. And there is people that would call you by your condition, not by your name. And they would label you by your issues. And let me tell you what how he was labeled by his issue. He wasn't only labeled by what they called him. He was labeled by what he wore. He wore what was called a beggar's coat. A beggar's coat. Whenever you was homeless in that day, you wore a beggar's coat. And there was this coat that would come and this coat would cover you. And this beggar's coat would cover you. And everyone that came by you say, "Okay, you're a beggar. You're dirty. You're not clean. You don't have much." And they could see you from afar. And if they wanted to throw some change in your jar, they could. Or if they wanted to get away from you, they could do that, too. Because you was labeled by your coat. It was almost like having a handicap sticker in your car. When people walk by, they see the sticker. Okay, this person's handicapped. They can park up front. Cool. You were labeled by this coat. It was a symbol of brokenness. It was a symbol of being a beggar. He was labeled by his coat. He was labeled by his coat. He was labeled by his coat. He was labeled by his name, but he was also labeled by his coat. Many of us, we are labeled by a mistake. We're labeled by something. We have something that's confirming our brokenness, our issue, and we get labeled by our issue. Uh, can you bring my issues up front? I want to kind of show you guys what it means to be labeled by your issue.
And all of a sudden, he has this coat on. And this coat is his label. It's his identity. And some of you guys, you got a coat. And that's your label. And now this coat says, "Nobody can tell me nothing." You know, I got my own back and I'm going to take care of my own self. And I don't care what you say about me. You know, I got this. I don't need no help. You know, I came in here by myself. I leave by myself. I don't need nobody. And now you're just walking around being a ball of pride. And now you're wearing this coat of pride. And now, can't nobody help you? Can't no one touch you? Jesus can't even heal you because you have on your coat of pride and now you're labeled by your pride. You're not labeled by your identity. You're not labeled by who God called you to be. You put on this coat of pride and now you're walking around with a coat of pride, being labeled by pride. And you have to take off this coat of pride because this is not who you are. This is what you become. And now it's become your label and you have to remove it. And now you got some of you guys and some of you guys and is is you got a different coat on. And now you got the coat of status on. And all of a sudden, you got this code of status on and you're walking around with this code of status and you're like, man, I'm a big shot and I'm a big deal and y'all don't know me and y'all don't know how I roll and how I get down. You can't even get your other arm in. You just out here struggling. You got so much status but you can't even get your arm in the coat. You a doofus. Like what's happening? And all of a sudden, you get your arm in the coat. YOU CAN'T EVEN FIT THE coat no more BECAUSE THIS IS YOUR HIGH SCHOOL SELF, MAN. YOU STILL IN 10TH GRADE. YOU STILL GOT TO BE THE MAN. YOU STILL GOT TO HAVE THE SHINY TOYS AND KEEP UP WITH THE JONESES. YOU STILL GOT TO BE HIM and you got it together. And now you're wearing a coat you can't even fit no more because this is a old identity. It's time for you to grow up and be a man and be who God has called you to be. AND TAKE OFF THAT LITTLE COAT.
Can't even smile without popping buttons. I'm'll be able to fit this again one day. It's a nice coat.
GOT TO THROW THIS COAT OFF.
And some of you guys, you're walking around in coats that's too big. And now you got a coat on that's too big for you. In other words, this ain't EVEN YOUR JACKET. YOU WEARING STUFF. YEAH, MY FAMILY, they said this and I got to do this and I got to keep up with this. THIS AIN'T EVEN YOUR COAT.
YEAH, you know, I just really have to do this. Listen, as a woman in my family, all the women in my family, that ain't got nothing to do with you. All the women in your family ain't got nothing to do with you. What did God say you are? What did God call you to be? And some of us are wearing coats that's too big because this is an identity that you've put on and you adopted. And this ain't even YOUR COAT TO WEAR. THIS SOMEBODY ELSE CODE.
WHO DID GOD CALL YOU TO BE? WHAT DID GOD CALL YOU TO DO? QUIT WEARING OTHER FOLK COAT. YEAH,
YOU GOT TO TAKE OFF the coat because the Bible says the blind bar threw off the coat. And then some of you guys are walking around trying TO WEAR YOUR KIDS COAT. This creepy. You can't even get your hand through it. And now you trying to live through your kids. YOU'RE AT THE SOFTBALL GAME. Put Jimmy back in THE GAME. NO. JIMMY DON'T KNOW HOW TO PLAY. AND YOU TRYING TO LIVE OUT your dreams TO JIMMY. AND JIMMY CAN'T HIT THE BALL. QUIT TRYING TO LIVE VICARIOUSLY THROUGH YOUR KIDS AND get your own identity. LOVE THEM, SUPPORT THEM, BLESS THEM, BUT YOU'RE NOT YOUR KIDS. YOUR DAUGHTER'S NOT THE CAPTAIN of the cheerleading team like you. And it's okay. She don't even like cheerleading. SHE'S JUST DOING IT CUZ YOU GET ON HER NERVES. QUIT TRYING TO WEAR YOUR KIDS COLD.
LET THEM BE WHO GOD'S CALLED THEM TO BE.
This is crazy. put on your own identity. Quit trying to wear coats that don't belong to you. And I want to tell you what blind Barnameus had to realize. He said, "Man, that's not my coat. That beggar's coat is not mine." And let me tell you what blind Barnameus did that was so powerful and so amazing. Here's what he did. Hold on. Fit check.
I'm good. I'm playing. But here's what blind mermaids did when he was about to go to Jesus. The Bible says he threw off his beggar's coat and then he began to go to Jesus. In other words, he was walking BY FAITH. HE SAID, "I DON'T WANT TO BE A BEGGAR NO MORE. THIS AIN'T WHO I AM. This isn't my identity. THIS IS NOT WHAT I'M CALLED TO BE. THIS IS NOT WHAT I'M DESIGNED to be." He threw off HIS COAT. AND SOME OF Y'ALL GOT TO COME AND YOU GOT TO THROW THESE COATS OFF. YOU GOT TO THROW THESE COATS DOWN. YOU GOT TO THROW THESE COATS OFF. THIS ISN'T WHO I AM. THIS ISN'T MY DESTINY. I'M NOT MY MISTAKES. I'M NOT MY PAIN. YOU GOT TO THROW THESE COATS OFF. AND AS I GET READY TO CLOSE, I want to say this part as my MD comes up. They called him blind barus. Now it said he was the son of Tmus. Tus means honor. His name was Bartomus. Bar meant son. So his name was son of honor.
Which means his identity, his calling, what he was designed to be when he was born, he was designed to be a son of honor. So how does a son of honor, honor means esteem, it means value, it means prestige. It's power. How does a man of value and prestige and a man of power and honor become a beggar?
It's because he lost his identity.
And if you look at his name slowly, it'll begin to prophesy because his name was blind son of honor. In other words, he was blinded to the fact that he was the son of honor.
Which caused him to become a beggar?
What are you blinded to? You are a daughter of honor. You are a son of honor. You are a son of God. You are a daughter of God. You are called. You're not your mistakes. You're not what your family did. You're not even your income. You're not that you dropped out of school. You're not that that you don't make what everyone else make. You're not that you don't know everything. You're not that you don't know all the scriptures. You're not any of your failures, your mistakes, your divorce, your pain, your sickness, your condition, YOUR ISSUES. YOU'RE NOT THAT. YOU ARE A son of honor. You are a daughter of honor. You are a child of a king. That's who you are. AND DON'T BE BLIND TO YOUR IDENTITY. HE WAS blinded to his identity. But when he threw off that coat, he was saying, "No longer am I a beggar. I'm going to get my inheritance. I am a son of honor. And so are you. Don't be labeled by your issue. Don't be labeled by your condition. Be labeled by your identity. Be who Jesus has called you to be. You are a son of honor. So, everyone stand to your feet. I just want to take a moment to pray for you. And I want you to remember who you are and who God has called you to be and who God has ordained you to be.
You're a daughter of honor. You're a son of honor. And maybe you can't see it right now. And this is why you walk by faith because you just heard it and all you got to do is believe it and walk in it. So all eyes close.
