I'm going to list out the top 10 biggest political issues in the US. It is really surprising when you start to investigate what people are really concerned about.

There was a post on Reddit this week that really caught my attention. If you don't know what Reddit is, it's a social media website like Facebook where people share ideas. Here's the post.
Political people of Reddit. What's one thing the other side believes that you agree with?
Now, let me give you some background. Reddit tends to be extremely liberal. Conservatives don't spend a lot of time on Reddit. So, when people started to respond to this post, these are mostly Democrats talking about what they like about Republicans. I found this discussion fascinating because in the US, Democrats and Republicans are a lot more similar than people realize. I'm going to list out the top 10 issues that people talked about.
Now, I know this is not a scientific survey. This is more anecdotal. However, the important thing here is that these are 10 issues that the majority of Americans agree on. Republicans and Democrats. These are extremely popular issues. What you will also notice is that a lot of these issues are not talked about by politicians and I will explain why at the end. I want you to understand how significant this is. The US has another presidential election in two years. If a candidate runs their campaign on these 10 issues, they will win the presidency because these are things that both sides agree on.
So, let's start with the first issue. Neighborhood data guy said there's too much money in politics. This person is right. There is so much money in US politics and it gets worse every year. Besides individual donations, you have super PACs that can take unlimited amounts of money on a candidate's behalf. People on both sides feel like billionaires can sway elections and their voices are not being heard. Elections should be decided based on what the voters want, not on who can spend the most money. This was confirmed by a recent poll by Politico that found 72% of Americans say there is too much money in politics. That is a massive statistic. That is almost 3/4 of all Americans. I would like to see a politician stand up and say they're going to eliminate the super PACs, eliminate the donation loopholes, so the only people influencing the election are the voters.
Issue two comes from individual ad 6768 who said, "Term limits are needed in Congress." The US currently has no term limits for Congress or the Senate. People have been there for a really long time. Some of them are very old with significant health problems. It seems like voters would be better served if new politicians could bring in fresh ideas. This is another extremely popular issue with both Republicans and Democrats. A recent poll showed that term limits in Congress was favored by 83% of US voters. We already have term limits for the president. Let's put term limits on everybody else.
Issue three comes from Romana Oswin who said, "The Republican principle of small government has real merit. Minimizing government waste and bureaucracy is important." This is obviously being written by a Democrat. Most people think that Democrats are for big government and Republicans are against big government, but that is not the reality. Most people are horrified at the amount of government spending. A recent poll by the Kato Institute found that 76% of Americans believe the federal government spends too much money. There's a specific question they've been asking since 1980. For every dollar you pay in federal taxes, about how many cents do you think are wasted by the government? You can see the responses over time. Americans now believe the US is wasting 59 cents out of every dollar. In other words, the majority of the US budget goes to waste. This is people believing that the government is too big. And this is Democrats and Republicans. People think their taxes are too high and people want government out of their lives. I think the Democrats should embrace cutting wasteful programs and smaller government because that is what most Americans want.
Issue four comes from classified who said, "Ending daylight savings time. That's it. Nothing else." This is another popular issue. In March, a new Yuggov survey showed that 64% of Americans say they would like to eliminate clocks changing twice a year. That is 2/3 of Americans. I want to emphasize that most political issues usually poll around 50%. Everything I have mentioned so far is astoundingly popular. It is amazing to me that no politicians are getting this done.
Issue 5 comes from Renee04 who said, "I'm super liberal and I don't think trans women should compete with people assigned female at birth. I do not understand why Democrats insist on dying on this hill. Most Americans do not want biological men competing in women's sports. We all saw the boxing competition at the Olympics in France where biological men were beating up the biological women. It is not fair. People don't like watching it." Now to be fair, the boxer from the Olympics, Amain Khalif, still claims that the controversy is not true and a man claims to have been born a woman. A man claims to just have naturally high testosterone levels. However, a 2023 International Boxing Association eligibility test showed that a main khif has XY chromosomes. Typically, men have XY chromosomes and women have XX chromosomes. So, I'm not exactly sure how a man is claiming to have been born a woman, but this is still an ongoing controversy. The bottom line is this. A recent poll by NBC News showed that 75% of American adults say that trans women should not be allowed to play on female sports teams. This is a huge statistic and Democrats should stop trying to campaign on this issue.
Issue six comes from Flapjack Choy who said, "Second amendment protects the rest." This is common ground that most people do not realize exists. Most people think Democrats are against guns and Republicans support guns. That is not true. I lived a long time in the state of New Mexico. New Mexico is a very Democrat state, but I can tell you from personal experience that people in New Mexico have a lot of guns. They love their guns. Hunting is a big hobby. This idea that Democrats do not like the Second Amendment is not true. I always see Democrats making fun of Charlton H at the NRA. I want to say those fighting words for everyone within the sound of my voice to hear and to heed and especially for you, Mr. Gore. From my cold dead hands. [applause] What is crazy to me is that Democrats also believe this. Democrats will only give up their guns from their cold, dead hands. If there's any Democrats watching this, let me ask you a question. Donald Trump is president right now. Do you think it would be a good idea for the government under President Trump to be the only people who have the guns? I'm betting that you would not agree to that. There was an article from Columbia Law School that found 76% of Americans opposed attempts to ban handgun ownership. This is both Republicans and Democrats. We all want guns and we want a lot of them. Americans look at countries that have banned guns like England and Australia and we think they are crazy. Democrats would do better if they embraced the Second Amendment because that is what Americans want.
Issue seven comes from Dragon 34 who said that corruptions in politics is bad. The problem is that they don't care about corruption when their side does it blatantly. This is talking about government corruption. The polling on this is crystal clear. From a poll released in June by the Brennan Center, they found that 92% of voters believe corruption is a big problem in politics and government. Large majorities of voters also view the last two presidents, Congress and the Supreme Court, as corrupt. The crazy thing about this issue is there are simple things we could do to stop corruption. For example, limit campaign contributions from government contractors who hold government contracts valued at more than $1 million. This is a very simple rule that would remove the incentive for bribes for government contracts. Here's another example. Make a law prohibiting members of Congress and their senior staff from trading stocks and similar assets, including cryptocurrencies. People are so frustrated watching government corruption and there never seems to be any consequences. There are many simple reforms that politicians could run on that would be extremely popular.
Issue 8 comes from as mcabes who said, "Chocolate is now using substitutes. Anyone else notice it's not satisfying anymore and it's very acidic. There is no more cocoa butter being used and it's a substitute. It's not just you. Degraded chocolate. We can't even have chocolate that is satisfying." Now, this issue is personal for me because I really like chocolate. I remember eating chocolate as a kid. And I don't know what happened, but if I eat a chocolate bar today, it does not taste like the chocolate I remember as a kid. And I don't know exactly what is going on, but I think they are messing with the chocolate. If anyone knows what is happening to the chocolate, let me know in the comments down below because I think it is something very sinister. I think this would make a winning political issue. Make chocolate great again. Don't underestimate this issue. It is estimated that Americans eat 10 pounds of chocolate per person each year. That is the equivalent of 100 Hershey bars or roughly two chocolate bars per week. Not only that, a new survey in 2026 found that chocolate was American's favorite ice cream flavor. In case you didn't know, the top three flavors of ice cream are number one, chocolate, number two, butter pecan, and number three, vanilla. A lot of people forget the history of chocolate. During the Revolutionary War, tea from Britain was heavily taxed. Americans started drinking hot chocolate instead because cocoa beans came from the Caribbean and South America. Chocolate became a symbol of patriotism during the Revolutionary War. This is a major issue for Americans and I want answers from our politicians about what is happening to our chocolate.
Issue nine is from surrounded by fools who said, "As a moderate Democrat, the open borders policy under Biden was a horrible idea and helped drive the fentinol epidemic. Immigration has consistently been Donald Trump's most popular political issue. 75% of registered voters support Trump's policy of deporting illegal criminal aliens. Both Republicans and Democrats want strong borders." Now, there are lots of things to argue about when it comes to immigration, but in general, people want strong borders. Democrats really need to embrace this idea because this is something that people want.
And the final issue comes from real anise one who said, "If we're excluding politicians opinions and just talking about actual people, then hating AI is it. That crosses party lines in all recent polls." This is a major issue that I don't think politicians are picking up on. People hate AI. I keep hearing stories about politicians approving massive AI data centers where people do not want them.

You can see the room packed full of angry citizens and these politicians are still voting to approve these data centers. Something seems pretty corrupt about what is going on now. Families are even being kicked out of their homes because of AI. >> Some homeowners in Georgia are being given an ultimatum to sell their homes or the state will get this take it to make way for AI data centers. CBS News correspondent Skyler Henry has more. I'm a single mom. I worked hard for everything. >> How do you put a price on a home you never intended to sell? One filled with more than two decades of memories. >> I think I was five or six when this was built. >> The yard where you buried your pets. The greenhouse that fed your family. >> When you you you talk about what being on this property means to you. >> Yeah. >> Right. It's y'alls. >> It's our family. We belong here. But Ansley Brown's childhood home likely won't be here much longer. That's because the state's largest utility, Georgia Power, says it needs the area to make way for a 35mm long transmission line. This is heartbreaking to me. The government is seizing these homes through eminent domain, bulldozing the homes so they can put through a power line for the AI data center. This is out of control. Now, look, I'm a supporter of AI. I think it's a good thing, but not at the expense of ordinary Americans. We should not be kicking people out of their homes for AI. Politicians need to stand up against AI and look out for the American people.
So, those are the 10 issues that the vast majority of the American people agree on. I think this list is so shocking because you hear very few politicians talking about these issues. The reason no one talks about these things is money. Politicians cannot raise money off of issues that everyone agrees on. So instead, they get Republicans and Democrats to fight against each other and focus on the most contentious issues. These close issues where polls are split 50% is how they raise the money. But I believe that Republicans and Democrats are a lot closer than people realize. If a presidential candidate for 2028 would just run on these 10 issues, I think they would win in a landslide because these are things that everyone agrees on.
