Hey everybody. Welcome to Five Best Bets. I'm John Lafield. This is our YouTube channel with me and Mr. Geral Brisco. We interview wrestling stars, wrestling legends, UFO enthusiasts, Area 51 experts—you name it. We interview them on here. Rock stars. We have a lot of fun on here. Last year we had Five Best Bets. I had to stop it because I've started randomly closing people and throwing trash cans at leprechauns. So, still throwing trash cans at leprechauns and randomly closing people, but this year the schedule's a little bit more intact, so hopefully we'll do this entire season.
Last year we had a great record; uh, we were winning like crazy. Just got too busy to keep doing it. So this year, hopefully that changes. Uh, but hopefully the change isn't as far as winning because we, uh, have been winning pretty well for the last few seasons, uh, in Five Best Bets. Hopefully that continues. We're not selling you nothing though. We're not trying to get you to buy a subscription. We're not telling you what to bet; we're just having fun talking baseball, which is what we love doing. Let's get right down to Five Best Bets today.
These are your official, official Five Best Bets. And, by the way, I've got my, uh, Texas gun mug here, and, uh, got my replica Satchel Paige, who's my, about my favorite baseball player of all time, Kansas City Monarch jersey. So I'm very excited. Baseball starts. I'm very excited to start off with Pirates, uh, against Pittsburgh Pirates against Miami. SK on the mound against Alcantara. Terrific pitching matchup. I think the Pirates have better bats. I think they have a slightly better pitching matchup in this. Alcantara is a great pitcher. SK has been on fire, fire. Give me the Pirates minus 149.
Royals. Speaking of Kansas City, the Monarchs, and, uh, by the way, the Black Baseball Museum there is absolutely fantastic. If you ever get a chance to go to Kansas City, you got to go visit that. It's right by the Jazz Museum. Unbelievable experience. I'm a huge fan of, uh, Satchel and Josh and all those guys back then. So give me Kansas City behind Cole Ragan. They were fantastic at home last year with Cole Ragan minus 122. And then the Diamondbacks, uh, against Chicago Cubs. Cubs have already played two games; they were in Tokyo, uh, got rocked pretty good. Justin Steele got hit pretty good. That's going to happen. By the Dodgers, by the way, didn't even have Freeman and Betts. Betts supposed to be back today, uh, but give me the Diamondbacks, uh, behind Zack Gallen, and it's because of Zack Gallen. Zack Gallen pitches very well against the Chicago Cubs minus 126.
Mariners and the A's. Mariners have the better, slightly better pitching matchup here, but they have a lot better team minus 164. A little bit of juice, but willing to pay it because I think it's a good value. And then the Astros and the Mets. Mets added Juan Soto in the offseason. They got a real chance of competing against the Los Angeles Dodgers for the championship. They are a great team, and they got an owner that's willing to spend a lot of money. But Astros behind Framber Valdez. Valdez has been very good against the Mets, so give me the Astros at home minus 130.
So there are your Five Best Bets, but I got a ton more for you, so don't hang up yet, or whatever you do on this. I'm not sure. Please like and subscribe, by the way. Uh, I got some Nerfies for you. Five Nerfies. Five, five, five Nerfies. Five Best Bets. Uh, not official bets, but we're going to keep a record of these. No runs first inning, the most nervous bet in all of baseball. Six outs, he'll drive you nuts. Give me the Giants and the Reds. You got a really good pitching matchup, guys who pitch really good in the first inning. Give me the Pirates and the Marlins. We already talked about this. Two pitchers who are very good in the first inning, two teams that have not scored very much in the first inning. Pirates and Marlins minus 160. And then you got the Tigers and the Dodgers. Scoobert on the mound, uh, should shut down the Dodgers, but when you, it's so scary betting against the Dodgers. They were great in the first inning last year, but minus 150, give me the Tigers and the Dodgers no runs first inning.
Twins and the Cards, uh, same thing. You've got Pablo López against Sonny Gray. These guys have been fantastic in the first inning. You got a .207 batting average, Pablo López in the first inning; .155 batting average for Sonny Gray in the first inning. Give me the Twins and the Cards no runs first innings minus 135. And the A's and the Mariners, uh, the A's and the Mariners. You've got Srino who came from the Mets and Gilbert, both, uh, solid in the first inning, uh, give me no runs first inning, A's and Mariners. So there you have that, and plus bonus, all kinds of bonuses. Com. Excited about baseball, by the way. There's my bets today. Just to let you know, I, I went a little crazy.
Overs/unders: Milwaukee and New York, wind blowing out, over eight, I'll take it. Philadelphia and the Nats, over seven, two pitching matchups that aren't that great against pretty good batters, I'll take that minus 110, minus 120. Cleveland, Kansas City, good pitching matchup, but if you ever been to Kansas City, there's nothing in the outfield; that wind is blowing straight out today. What happens when these starters get out? Over seven and a half. And then Detroit and LA Dodgers, great pitching matchup, the run total is six and a half. What happens when Imaga got taken out when he had, uh, basically no-hit and shut down the Dodgers? They scored three runs in the fifth inning. You got to take the starters out eventually against these Dodgers, and they are loaded. Six and a half, Dodgers, I'll take it. And then Boston and Texas, roof probably closed, uh, but the wind is blowing out, but it doesn't matter; these are two great offenses, over seven and a half.
So there's your Five Best over/under bets, your Five Best Nerfy Bets, and your Five Best sides bets. I'm gonna throw in Five Best prop bets as well. Bellinger of New York, absolutely hits the opposing pitcher very well, as first game there, over a half a hit, minus 170. A lot of juice there, I hate that, sorry about that, but I think it's value. This one is too: Skubal with Pittsburgh over 6 1/2. Kos, he pitched 85 pitches in his last, uh, preseason game; he had nine strikeouts last time against Marlins, he should go over this; he should fly over this minus 180. Terrible juice, sorry about that, too. Got a good one for you here: Marino with Arizona, seven of eight against the opposing pitcher, over one and a half bases, plus 158. And then we'll throw in two more 'cause I got a bunch here. Guerrero, Toronto, over one and a half bases, plus 105. And to round out your Five Best Bets, Machado of San Diego over half a hit. You know what he has. Minus one, let's not go that one. Let's go Castellanos, Philadelphia, over one and a half bases, plus 125.
So there you have it: your Five Best Bets, your Five Best bonus bets, your Five Best bonus bets, and your Five Best bonus bets.
