Cooking with no oil, no wheat, no refined sugar, no rice? No problem! That's exactly how I made these beautiful buns right here. And as you can see, I made this delicious BLTA sandwich with it. And today, I'm going to show you how to make your own. [Music]
All right, so as usual, the first thing we're gonna do is start with our dried ingredients. Now, here I have some millet flour, some ground flax, some baking soda, baking powder, and a little bit of salt. And we're going to mix them all together to get the recipe going. Let's do it. So, I don't eat refined wheat because it spikes your blood sugar, spikes your insulin, and has no nutritional value. It's pretty much like eating table sugar.
All right, so I got my dry ingredients done and set aside. Now we're going to do our wet ingredients. And that's going to consist of some water, some psyllium, and some apple cider vinegar. Now, normal bread has wheat and has gluten that helps to bind the bread, but we're not using that. But the psyllium husk is what's going to do that. The psyllium husk mixed with the water and apple cider vinegar are going to conform like a gel that'll help bond our bread.
All right, so the first thing I'm going to do is pour my water in the bowl. [Music] [Music] And then my apple cider vinegar. All right, so now I'm just going to mix it up, mix it together here. [Music] Get it nice and saturated. All right, so it's all mixed up and ready to go. But another thing I want to do is add a little bit of dates there. Now, this is totally optional, but I'm adding in to give my bread just a little bit of sweetness. If you're enjoying this video, please like and subscribe below.
So now we've got our psyllium husk, our apple cider vinegar, and our water set up. And this is about what it looks like. You can see it's starting to thicken there and form like a liquidy gel, and that's what we want. So once you add the wet mixture to the dry ingredients, take your time and mix it thoroughly to get it really well combined. [Music]
So we got everything combined and our dough is ready to go. Now I'm going to wet my hands to keep the dough from sticking so much. So I'm just going to put a little water on my hands here. Um, and that should, uh, make it a little bit easier to deal with. This dough doesn't have the same consistency as standard wheat dough, so if you find it to be a little more moist and sticky than you're used to, don't worry, that's exactly what you're looking for. [Music]
Okay, so now I've got all of my dough in my pan. Now I want to add some sesame seeds. This is totally optional also, but I like sesame seeds on my buns, so I'm going to put a little bit under here. So I eat nuts and seeds every day because they're so healthy, and it's a great way to add healthy fats and protein to your diet. Seeds are also a great way to add potassium, iron, copper, calcium, and other minerals to your diet. [Music]
So I've got it all complete now. I've got my sesame seeds on top, and now they're ready for the oven. So after baking my buns, I took them out of the oven and they look absolutely amazing. But not only that, the house smells like fresh bread, which I can really appreciate.
Okay, so I've got my buns cooked and cooled and cut, and look at this. [Music] The texture is absolutely beautiful. These are nice and soft inside. I got my sesame seeds on top. This is what a healthy vegan bun looks like. Absolutely beautiful, guys.
Okay, guys, so you know we got to make something with these beautiful buns. And we're going to make one of my favorite sandwiches, a BLTA. And that's a veggie bacon, lettuce, tomato, and avocado. So let's throw it together. So we got our healthy vegan buns done, which are great. But another amazing thing about this sandwich is the fact that both the mayo and the bacon are healthy vegan style, meaning no oil, no wheat, no refined sugar, and no rice. So this whole sandwich has healthy vegan written all over it. So these buns look and feel great. I've made my delicious BLTA. Let's give it a try. [Music] That's delicious.
