After two amazing years living in Philly, I just moved out. So, I wanted to commemorate my time with this recipe for Philly cheese steak tacos. They're so crispy on the outside but ooey and gooey on the inside. And they have everything you love in a classic Philly cheese steak but just in a taco.
For the prep, we're going to chop our veggies. Separate your thinly shaved steak and then grate your cheese. You can use Monterey Jack, Cooper Sharp, or whatever you love.
Now, heat some oil in your pan. Add the sweet peppers and onions along with some salt and pepper. Saute them until they have some beautiful color and add in some garlic at the end.
In that same pan we cooked the veggies, you're going to add some butter and oil and add a thin shave steak. Season it and cook until beautifully browned.
Get your flour or corn tortillas. Add cheese on one side and then add the meat and add more cheese on the other side of the meat and then seal it. For this step, you can use a pan or griddle. Just make sure to grease it. And then you're going to toast them on both sides until beautifully golden and crispy like this.
And don't knock it till you try it. But the Philly way is to enjoy it with some ketchup. It's so good.
