Folks, Ken Johnson joins us. Uh Ken is the author of uh several books, many books I should say. He's focusing on the Dead Sea Scrolls. Um a lot of his work and it's it's fascinating. I have one of his books early church fathers and I just it was just a great great read. I really loved it and I knew we had you on the show and we talked about it. But recently you've been talking about the significant of the Jubilee year. So walk us through that.
>> Uh well according to the scrolls they have everything pinpointed to ages and jubilees and they have a calendar. So again we can't really prove that their calendar and their theology is absolutely right or absolutely wrong. But so far they've been batting a thousand with the ideas, the theology and the prophecy. So basically they talk about um at the end of an age is when a lot of the prophecies are fulfilled. So the end of the last age was when Jesus came. So it ended in 75 AD. People ask about that all the time. How come not 32 or whatever? But lots of stuff going on. It's just their calendar, right?
>> So their calendar predicts the end of this age as 2075.
>> Let me stop you right there. Whose calendar are we talking about? The Essenes.
>> Uh the Essenes. Yeah. the one the ones in the Dead Sea Scrolls,
>> right?
>> And so, uh, after that, we should have a millennial reign. And so, that makes us understand that you can't really set a date saying like the 7-year tribulation is going to be, you know, in 67 to 75. That would be the last possible time for it if their calendar is correct. But the interesting thing about it is everything is in Jubilees. A Jubilee is a 50-year period. It's made up of a you have one year and seven year just like our year seven years is a schmita. When you get seven shidas together that's a 49-year period and then you have a jubilee year to celebrate that sequence. So two jubilees is a century not 98 years. Um but we're looking at this and and it comes out perfectly on their calendars because they talk about when the Messiah came the first time to die for our sins. It would be one shmita after the end of the ninth jubilee of their and so that's you know in that 500year period. If you break that down that comes out to be 32 AD.
>> Wow.
>> So they they were batting a thousand on all these prophecies. Most of them they didn't date but they they had a calendar going. So the idea is the last generation um that there's a word for generation adore and um there's a word for uh jubilee which is jubilee your jubilee um and there's other words too but a lot of times those are used interchangeably. So sometimes in the scrolls they'll be talking about the last jubilee and they'll mean the last generation. And so the last generation starts in March of 2026. It started about a week and a half ago. All right.
>> Uh, and it goes for 50 years. So, in this 50-year period, according to the Dead Sea Scrolls, we should see a lot of prophecies fulfilled. And the way I'm reading it, I would assume all the prophecies were fulfilled. We wouldn't have seen the takeover of Gaza. We wouldn't have seen the the uh taking of southern Lebanon. We wouldn't have seen the the Iranian war, which is prophesied both in the scrolls and I believe Jeremiah 49.
>> I do too. By the way, before I want to give credit to Bill Salis, Dr. Bill Salace for that. He's the one that broke a story 10 years ago on Jeremiah 49 and the whole prophecies around Ilam. So, Bill, if you're watching this, bully for you. Please continue, K.
>> Amen to that. I hope he's doing good. I haven't talked about him in forever, but um so this is what's interesting then. You've got this last Jubilee period. uh but things usually things are not one set date is as an American I want to know the exact date minute second you know uh of when it's going to happen and the scrolls are more like it's it's in this 7-year period it's in this 50-year period that's good enough and so but they they're actually right all this Josephus and most of the historians will say that they were 100% accurate prophets um and they had their herbal medicine they lived to be 120 It's amazing group of people.
>> Wow. Wow.
>> But uh this whole idea of the last generation is interesting because a lot of people used to ask me and I wondered this too. Remember when Jesus said uh it did the parable with fig tree and said the generation that sees these things will not perish until all is fulfilled. And people say okay well the fig tree is probably Israel.
>> Sure. Israel was planted in 48. 48 plus 50 or even plus 70 or 80 or even 120. It's like it's really
>> Yeah. All that all of that's up for grab
>> over.
>> Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
>> So, how does that work? Yeah.
>> And according to the scrolls, uh they make it very very clear when Israel is messianic and they accept their Messiah, they're called a olive branch or an olive vine. When they're walking in apostasy, which is what they were doing back in the time of the Pharisees and Sadducees, they're called a fig tree. You know, there's there's a verse in the Old Testament that talks about Ephraim as a halfbaked uh group of figs. Leave him alone.
>> And so that's always been that kind of a concept. It's
>> pretty their concept. Then if you take that in 1948 is when Israel the the fig tree because they're walking in unbelief, but the fig tree was planted and it grew in 1967. So the budding of a fig tree or budding of any fig any tree rather what's going to happen is they're going to drop the the seeds and the one tree is going to become a forest. That's what budding does you know and sometimes it takes one two or three years for a plant to get mature enough to start budding and reproducing. So what we're talking about is the expansion of Israel. So what's really interesting is if you look at that, so the generation that sees not the planting, not the growth, the taking back of Jerusalem, but the expansion of their territory, that generation will not pass until all these things are fulfilled.
>> Interesting. Very
>> if you take the idea of the generation being a jubilee, we just entered the last Jubilee and we have the Gaza war going on. Uh and there's many scriptures that talk about uh Gath of the Philistines will be anti-Israel and will have a a government seat, a seat of power in them that is actually called violence, which is the Hebrew word for violence is Hamas.
>> Yeah, that's that is actually a biblical prophecy.
>> Undoubable. Unbelievable.
>> Yeah. And then Obadiah, it says that after a certain war, Israel will expand into southern Lebanon and the new border will be old Zerapath where uh Elijah raised the widow's son uh son. And that city, the ruins is still there. It's right north of the Latani River.
>> There you go.
>> Hear that in the in the news all the day. Now we're going to take it. Otani River is going to be
>> That's the border, right?
>> Yeah, that's the border. So, it hasn't happened yet. But the fact that they're talking about it and it's in process,
>> yeah,
>> it is pretty amazing. So, you pull all that together and one one more little interesting thing, there is a Dead Sea Scroll. Uh it's um called the uh commentary of Jeremiah. And in the commentary, there's a section that talks about a 70-year period. And at first, I'm looking at this thinking, okay, that's 70-year period, them coming back from Nebuchadnezzar, Babylon, because that's what he talked about. But if you look real careful at this particular commentary, it's talking about a 70-year period. And the 70-year period ends in that final jubilee. And it actually goes on to say, that's the final jubilee when we're going to have that one schmita, that seven-year period that is going to be worse than any other time.
>> Wow. we're actually talking about the future, not not uh 537 BC, you know. And so I look carefully at that and it talks about what causes this is a breach of contract.
>> Huh.
>> That's a type of words that used in the Old Testament about when they give up land. And so what's interesting about that is if you go back and you look, Israel became a nation in 48 and expanded and you know it takes time to take your land back. But the first time that they took land and then turned around and gave it back, that was their old land was the Suez crisis. And they took Gaza and they had the war there in Egypt. And then when it was all said and done, they they gave it back. Well, that finished it. The war finished in 56. The final uh contract for everything was finished in 57. So if it if the Gaza is giving away land that Israel should have kept and that's the breach of contract and it's 70 years later that the problem is fixed and the expansion begins. 56 and 57 plus 70 years is 26 and 27. And so it's interesting that a couple of years ago the war started,
>> right? I'm I'm thinking like it shouldn't start for another year or two. But I'm not thinking straight. Wars aren't done and over in one month, you know. So, this has been going for a few years and it's getting to the place where it could probably be over soon and they might take, you know, better part of another year to finalize something. Yeah. So, it really does look like this is all and if it does finish even in 26 or 27, either one, that's inside the last Jubilee period according to their calendar.
>> I mean, that it's just profound. And and I I guess what disturbs me is this needs to be broadcast on a much larger platform. So folks, you know, tell a friend to watch watch this presentation or go to um you know, Ken's Ken's web address. Give it to us right now since we're talking about it.
>> Oh, my website is biblefacts.org b i bleacs.org. And uh we we have a Monday night YouTube um teaching plus a Q&A and other things like that, but you you can get to the books or the website or the anything from from that particular website.
>> Incredible. So let let's kind of walk through this. You know, Jesus gives us the punch list, which again, most churches never talk about this stuff, which is which is, you know, to that particular church's own detriment. In fact, it's almost like most of a church, and I'm praying with a very broad brush here, is like in a state of either apostasy or headed towards apostasy on Sunday. I can't even believe I'm stating that. It's just But Jesus gives us the punch list. Wars and rumors of war. I mean, if you look at the global conflict right now, it it'll blow your mind. 1.2 million Russian soldiers have been killed. Wrap your head around that, folks. 1.2 2 million Russian soldiers have lost their lives in this ridiculous war with Ukraine and now 8,000 targets have been hit in Iran. There's talking about that Iran detonated a nuke underground which caused the earthquake. We don't know whether that's true or not. Um Russia over the weekend saber rattling against using nukes. I mean these people have lost their minds. Apparently, Arowan went to Saudi Arabia and kissed a ring. Don't know where that's true, but there's there's rumors of that. Um, Shia Islam is all but over. Uh, when you look at the Straight of Hormuz, that's creating it could create a food crisis because of the ships not being able to go through the straight. Uh, we are in a very complex situation here. So, wars and rumors of wars. Check. Famines. Yes, there are famines. Pestilons. Absolutely. Now, we're talking about a new strain of of COVID, which is more deadly than the, you know, here we go again, right? Happy summer, everybody. So, Wars was a worse, fam, pestlords. Earthquakes in the first places. I did a show today, earthquakes are happening all over the globe. And you know, 2,000 years ago when Jesus is stating this, there's no way to track earthquakes. But now, there's a whole list of them I get every single week. And I read them off. Look at this one. Guatemala, Mexico, you know, Sardinia. I mean, it's it's all over. It's all it's global. It's a global thing. And then perilous times, if these aren't perilous, I don't know what is. Um, so what are your thoughts on that? And how do those prophetic signs that Jesus tells us will be indicators of the last days, how does that fit into the Dead Sea Scrolls and the and the Jubilee?
>> Um, I think it fits in really well. One of the things that everybody that don't that doesn't like the scrolls, they say that, well, it was an apocalyptic cult. They didn't know what they were talking about. They predicted they would win the war with Rome and they died out and Rome won. So, obviously, they're wrong. And it's it's interesting how people will do that. If you read the text, they're very very clear that Rome fizzles out and there's a revived Roman Empire. And the war that's won against Rome wasn't back then. It's in the at the end of the age of grace, not at the age of Torah. Again, if you just know their calendar and everything or really specific. So, it's neat how that that can happen. I've run across people that said, "Well, the founder of the Essen cult, whoever that is, probably was this guy and probably was this guy." It's like the the teacher of righteousness, it says clearly, was executed by the high priest um in in the time of that first century toward the end of that age.
>> And it's like, well, the the founder of the group would have to be over 300 years old is obviously they're talking about the Messiah, you know, and so it's really interesting, especially when you consider half of the scrolls are badly fragmented.
>> Yeah. And it's hard to to get the entire thing together, but like 11Q13 made it clear. They they believe that uh the Messiah is God incarnate. He comes uh incarnates in human form. He is a Mazdciancan priest, not a Levitical. Big difference. Um he reconciles us to the father and that event happens one shita after the end of the 9th Jubilee, which is 32 AD on the calendar. And then it goes on to say it begins what's going to be called the age of grace. And they have all this esquetology. 90% of it is identical to what we have, but we have the New Testament. And the New Testament hadn't been written yet.
>> Right?
>> So it's really interesting to see that the theology is the same. So there's a lot of Jewish people now that are taught to stay away from Christianity, but they look at the scrolls and think, h there's more to it than this. This is too too specific. How could my grandfather have known that unless God talked with it?
>> Bingo.
>> And so you've got a lot of revival going on. There's a couple of things in the scrolls that indicate when at the at the end of an age, the last Jubilee period usually starts with a massive revival and ends in a really horrible horrible time. Um, and so it's it's interesting to see that. And that's that's exactly what happened at at the end of the uh age of Torah. Uh, the first week of the last Jubilee period was uh between 28 and 32. Well, the first two or three years, nothing happened. But the last three and a half years of that first week was Jesus ministry. So, and that was a major revival. So, there's I'm not saying there's going to be one. I hope there's going to be one. But this is pretty amazing. We're already seeing a revival of sorts among a lot of the Jewish people. Uh, and Christians need to get on the bandwagon, too. There's so many of these things. New scrolls are being found all the time. I'm always working on something new. Um, just amazing.
>> So, when you say that new scrolls are being found all the time, you know, weigh in on that. Tell us, I mean, are they going into the caves in and around Kuman or are people finding them? Tell us about that. How do how does
>> Okay. Were the Dead Sea Scrolls proper uh started in 1948 and went up to I think maybe 82 or 90, something like that. And the the group wasn't released until like the late 1990s. And so now what we need there's no more new scrolls except for what was found in cave 12.
>> Okay.
>> seven years ago or so. So right now there's a war going on and they've had a policy of not digging because of the Palestinian possible war type situation, but they allow people to scan. So there are places where they know there are stuff, you know, but they don't know what it is and they're not allowed to dig and definitely nothing until this war is over. Things begin to expand. However, if you believe the Dead Sea Scrolls and you just read them, put them together, they talk about other books and other things. Uh, for instance, um, in 1 Chronicles, I believe 29, it mentions a book of Gad the Seer and a book of Nathan the prophet, things like that. Um, they talk about those. Nathan and Gad were people that ran the school of the prophets and actually wrote prophetic books that they had them. So if you if you believe that and you kind of follow the history that they give, it should be somewhere with a certain group of people in a certain place. So if you follow that logic out, sure enough, there are things that exist like that. And so now there are there are places like in Egypt and Russia and uh Spain and other places where there's large groups of Jews that actually have some of these works and there's other groups out. So, we found and published the book of Gadier, for instance. Uh, I've got fragments of Nathan, which is really cool. Uh, you know, like the old Jewish way of looking at it. Bethula can mean a bride and a virgin. So, obviously Isaiah didn't mean a virgin would conceive. It's just a young person, which that's not really a sign because no old people have kids. Young people have kids. But Nathan the prophet in his he doesn't use either one of those words Alma or Bethula. He says there is a young woman who has never known a man that has in her arms a her baby boy who is the Lord of the earth to the ends of the earth. Um, you can't get around that.
>> Yeah. It's amazing. The king of the planet was Adam. Then it was Noah and then that's been it. That's got to be Messiah is the next one. Um, so there's a virgin birth. So it's it's interesting how all these things basically come back and just tell you this is our theology.
>> Well, let me ask you something. Um, do you think there was a connection between Jesus and the Essenes? You think he and I realize this is pure conjecture on your part. the gospels were silent on but you know there's he's always going out and he disappears for sometimes you know a couple of days or maybe even three or four days or a week we just don't know do you think and and you know I've been to Kuman it was out of the middle of nowhere but it's not that far from Jerusalem what are your thoughts on that
>> yeah in the uh community rule um they actually talk about a time when Messiah came and preached in Kumat
>> wow
>> um they accepted Jesus is Messiah. I mean, who wouldn't? I mean, if you just think about it like today, everybody maybe you don't know hardly anything about religion, but you know, there's Catholics and you know there's the Pentecostals with tongues and there's Baptists, you know, and so you may not know much about them, but you you know the basics. Everybody knows the basics. And so you might say, I really like the Catholics or I think the Catholics are way off, you know, and so you pick your denomination. Well, back then there were a scenes, Pharisees, Sadducees, Samaritans, um, and then scribes and a couple of others. And there's only like seven basic ones and then subgroups. So, you pick one, whichever one you like.
>> And then, but when Messiah comes, he's either going to do it the way the Pharisees think or the Sadducees think or the Essenes think. And so, you just wait and see what happens. and Jesus came fulfilled the prophecies then it becomes obvious he did it the aene way so they were the one not that Jesus was an a scene Jesus is Messiah but uh when Paul picked uh I'm a Pharisee okay good guess wrong but good guess then he sees Messiah happen he's got the vision from Damascus about this this thing oh so obviously it's real well if Jesus really is Messiah where would I go now the Essenes only place to do that. So he disappears for a few years, goes down to Arabia um you know and the studies the stuff down there comes back saying I am the um apostle to the Gentiles and that's not a pride thing. There's actually a scroll that talks about a Benjamite will be the apostle or the sent ones to the Gentiles
>> and there would be New Testament cannon and this Benjamite would write a series of epistles in that cannon for all time. And so it's it's interesting to me if you go look at the Dead Sea Scrolls, they're basically telling you, you want all the answers, read the epistles of Paul.
>> Whoa. Done. You know, so he comes back going, "There's only one Benjamite really doing this. That's heer, right?"
>> You know, so he goes and talks to Peter and James and they're like, "Yeah, it must be you." Well, have you tried it? Yeah. Any success with the Gentiles? Oh, you wouldn't believe it. All these people are getting saved. Well, then that must be you then. So, praise God. Here's a right hand of fellowship. So, there's all these things in there. It's really amazing. No, it's it's it's astounding. Um the Catholics, I almost want to start bagging on Catholics here, but they believe that, you know, Mary, the mother of Jesus, was a perpetual virgin. So, she's there are no brothers and sisters. Yet, the scripture very plain, you know, these are our these are your brothers or sisters, your mother. I mean, you know, we know his mother, we know his I mean, it's in several places. So, what are your thoughts? This might be slightly off topic. Net dim will circle back and put a bow on this whole thing with Jubilee and and I know you're not a date setter, but I mean we're we're getting close to something, folks. It's all Oh, yeah. You know, we're getting close to something, but what are your thoughts now? We know James was the Lord's brother. I mean, it says so. I mean, and and you can tap dance around that and, you know, do the Texas twostep to the stinking cows come home and, you know, oh, is they made really his cousin? So what are your thoughts on what's called the dusbiani? In other words, with as again I'm getting the question in a sort of a roundabout way and um Islamists believe that that anyone who's a direct descendant of Muhammad gets to wear the black turban and we know that they've traced the line back 1300 years and these are the descendants of Muhammad. Do you think because the Essen community just kind of disappears if I'm if I'm right on that? They just they disappear. They hide everything up in the caves and then they just disappear. Do you think that the descendants of Jesus, his brothers and sisters, are still alive today?
>> Oh, they very well could be.
>> Okay.
>> Yeah. I don't know that that would make a difference or not, but it would be really hard to prove or disprove something like that.
>> Right. As to the Essenes, it it's it seems like a really weird mystery at first, but if you think about it, if they accepted Messiah, believe that Messiah would come and do this, and that's exactly what Jesus did,
>> right?
>> They accepted him on on the spot. They also believed in this whole idea of ages. Like for instance, they taught Enoch and some of the other books are from the school of the prophets. It's separate than the scriptures. There's the public cannon, which you and I and everybody should read. There's the other books. It's not really secret or hidden, per se, but it's not necessary for salvation. And you don't want a Bible with a million books in it, you know, 66 is plenty, you know, so to get people to read it. But they talked about toward the end time, people would need to know know things. And so they buried the scrolls in Kuman knowing eventually they would be discovered. And then they went to preach the gospel. They they became us. So they took off and went places and some were martyed and some started churches and and and just went forward from there. So it's not a real mystery per se. Um, but it's that's why they just disappeared because they stopped being a scenes. Uh, for instance they they they were priests ado priests. They recognized that until the actual age changed they needed to follow the law of Moses. So they were doing the priestly garments uh the sacrifices. You don't touch Gentiles when you're on duty doing this stuff. But they very much look forward to the end of that beginning of the age of grace when they could set it down and be a part of the king the the age of grace. And they talk about when Messiah comes back for the second coming. Uh, there will be a kingdom covenant on a Pentecost. The Pentecost right after he comes back. And if you're here at that time, you could enter not the age of grace but the kingdom age. And man, they were excited about that to be with Messiah physically in early.
>> It's just amazing.
>> So, let's wrap it up. How close I mean, I know I'm not asking for a date. How close do you think we are to seeing something? What are your thoughts?
>> Um, I think uh whether the rapture happens soon or not, we're going to see a lot of things now that the we're in that last generation and we're seeing the beginnings of it. Now, it could fizzle out. I mean, like last year we had the uh attack of Iran on Israel and then it just stopped and a year later we have the So same thing could happen. They've taken southern Lebanon before and given it back. They could do the same thing again which means we'd have to do the whole thing again in a decade or two.
>> Um, that seems to be the pattern. But the scriptures are specific. These things happen at a certain point and they're they're permanent. So this temporary back and forth stuff is just temporary. Uh, we're seeing everything start again. Eventually it happens. We don't have that much time left. I mean, even if you push it all the way out 50 years, you I mean, you could have this all happen again, but it can't really be again and again and again. And so things begin to happen. Israel is supposed to expand.
>> And it is. Yeah. Like one of the things uh that it talks about in Oadia, they take back Gilead. Now, Gilead is actually uh Jordanian territory at the moment, and nobody's even thinking or talking about doing that. However, Al Galani is wanting to kill off the Christians and the Drews and the Alawites and all these different factions. The Drews nation, the the big mountain of the Drews, is always asking for protection and they've talked about seceding and becoming Israeli territory.
>> I've heard there's chaos.
>> That's fine. If that happens, they're in a position where like Israel is here and they're up here. You can't protect someone that's not inside your border or next to your border. You can't protect somebody five countries away. So, they would have to make some sort of a thing up through there to connect it. Well, the the easiest way to do that is to go under and then up into the mountain range. That happens to be Gilead. So, it's just interesting that Obadiah also predicted that to occur. So we're seeing that may may not be why, but it's a definite reason why it could be. So we're seeing all these things and we speculate all the time and half the time we're right, half the time we're not, but eventually scriptures will be fulfilled. So yeah, the rapture is like one of many prophecies. We fixate on that. But if you were to ask me when is Damascus going to be destroyed? I have no clue. There's no date in that.
>> No date just happens sometimes.
>> So it it's the same thing. The rapture will happen uh before the tribulation period. I think that's pretty clear. The tribulation period ends at the second coming. So that's pretty clear. Sometime in the the the near future.
>> Interesting. There you have it, folks. You know, Ken, I just I just love talking to you because, you know, you're in a world I mean, I know a little bit about it, but I mean, you're like a you're deep. You're way in the deep end of the pool. So, every time you come on the show, it's always it's it's an honor. It's a pleasure. And, you know, I'm going to school and learning things that I didn't know. So, tell us one more time how to, you know, biblefacts.org or com uh or
>> Yeah, biblefacts.org. Biblefacts.org. go there, spend some time, you know, and and this is great. We spent a half an hour together and we've sort of dipped our toe into it. But when you get any of Ken's books and you start reading them now, you're start we're starting to go into the deep end of the pool. Ken, thanks so much. I'll give you the last word. Thanks for coming on the record. Appreciate it.
>> Uh, yeah, I would just say uh look at the prophecies. They're cool, but at the same time, understand the Bible gives us prophecy for a reason. Mhm.
>> We have a sin nature. We've inherited it. We're we're destined for hell. Jesus paid the penalty and all we have to do is accept it. And you might think, well, I don't know if I believe that. That's the same book that's predicted all of this.
>> Yes.
>> And you're seeing this happen absolutely perfectly the way that it's been predicted. So, if it can be that accurate with some future event, no human being could have written that.
>> Yeah. But that's the same book that says you have a free gift of eternal life if you want to just accept it. So seriously think about becoming a Christian or if you are one, get back into the word, become someone that the Lord will be proud of and you know just just continue in that.
