Which Spider-Man has suffered the most?
Toby Maguire's Spider-Man, the original hero who carried the weight of the world on his shoulders. He lost his parents. Then his uncle Ben, the man who taught him what responsibility really means. His best friend Harry turned against him. And the girl he loved slipped through his fingers again and again. Every time he smiled, life found a way to break him all over again.
Then came Andrew Garfield, Spider-Man and his story. It hurts in a different way. He also lost his parents. Then Uncle Ben, then Captain Stacy, and finally Gwen Stacy. The only person who truly saw him. The way she slipped from his hands, that scream, that silence. He wasn't just broken. He blamed himself for everything. You could see the pain in his eyes every time he tried to smile again.
And then there's Tom Holland, Spider-Man, the youngest, but maybe the loneliest. He lost Aunt May, his heart, Tony Stark, his father figure, and in the end, even MJ and Ned, the only people who ever knew him. Now, nobody remembers Peter Parker. He saved the world, but at the cost of being completely forgotten.
Each Spider-Man suffered. But Andrew's pain, it's different because every person he lost, he felt it was his fault. And sometimes living with that guilt hurts more than death itself.
