6/5/2022 - "Attributes of the Holy Ghost" - Pastor Mark Copeland

Pine Grove Church2:10:31

Transcription

Is anybody looking for great things in the Holy Ghost today? If you're looking for great things on this Holy Ghost Sunday, why don't you just start by giving the Lord a good handful of praise all across the building? I wonder if anybody believes He's worthy of our applause. We're gonna have a great day in the Holy Ghost today. I believe God's gonna fill people with the Holy Ghost. He's gonna renew people in the Holy Ghost today.

We celebrate the time that the Holy Ghost was poured out in the book of Acts. Somebody said, "Brother Copeland, you hadn't even mentioned Holy Ghost Sunday." Why don't you make a big deal out of Holy Ghost Sunday? Because I think every Sunday ought to be Holy Ghost Sunday.

[Music]

But according to the calendar, they do honor this day as Holy Ghost Sunday, and I think we ought to maximize on that today. Why don't you lift your hands together? Invite the presence of God into this house. Jesus still Lord, fill people with the Holy Ghost today. Change people's lives. Bring a difference in people's hearts and minds and spirits. In Jesus name, we pray. Worship with this praise team. You can be seated if you need to. Let's have church today.

I want us to sing because today you were given salvation. Today your sins were washed away. You have access to the Spirit of God. The only, the only Spirit that can save us. The only Spirit that can wash away every sin. Worship with them as they sing. You can be seated if you need to.

Hallelujah. Aren't you thankful for what God's doing in this place already? Praise God. Lord, we worship You. Jesus, we thank You, God, that You don't have limits. God, hallelujah. You can return to your seats just a moment. It feels good in the house today. We want to say thank you to every guest that is with us on this Pentecost Sunday. We are so honored that you chose to be here to experience God with us. Experience His word. I know everybody was just seated, but could you please stand? We're gonna give the opportunity to be blessed. I get some ushers to help me out. Thank you, Jesus. Lord, we're so grateful that we get to be in Your house another day. That we get to experience Your Spirit. Oh God, that You filled us with the Holy Ghost. Hallelujah. I pray that You would touch, show God, every gift and the giver. In Jesus name. Come and give choir. You can assemble after you.

[Music]

So.

[Music]

As they got get ready to sing, I want you to let you know that Jesus did not come to condemn the world, but He came to save the world. You need to know that today. God is here to bring salvation. He's here to transform your life. He's here to forgive every sin. He's here to fill you with the Holy Ghost. He wants you to be baptized in His wonderful name. If you've never been baptized, there is no better day than today. You no longer have to worry about the weight of sin. You no longer have to worry about the weight of regret or the weight of shame or or a feeling of unworthiness because today God can take every single one of those weights and you can be filled with peace, love, and joy, and He will give you a sound mind. Worship with them as they sing today. God bless you.

[Applause]

[Music]

[Music]

When we were in here praying, while we were getting ready and having choir practice this morning, tongues and interpretation went out in the squad. You know what God said? I've seen your faith and I know that I have found faith in the earth, and if you will worship today, choir, then I will do what you've asked me to do. That's what I want to get out of here. That's the word we received, and I believe that's what it is.

[Music]

My worship.

[Music]

[Applause]

Break through.

[Applause]

Right. Thank you.

[Music]

[Applause]

[Applause]

Oh.

Me. Oh.

[Music]

Glory be.

[Music]

Foreign. We'll see you through. Yeah.

[Music]

I can't. Oh.

[Music]

[Applause]

Oh. There was a man with a need in the Bible who came and he said it wasn't because of his faith that he received the miracle. It was because of their faith. There's a people around him. Faith. It was people that brought him. Somebody had faith right here. Faith right now. I.

[Applause]

[Music]

Heart. Am through in my mind. Breath through in my spirit. Break through in my soul. Break through with my weakness.

[Music]

Thank you.

[Applause]

Oh.

[Applause]

[Music]

Um.

[Applause]

[Music]

Why don't we lift our hands and worship the Lord all over this tabernacle? If you lift your hands together, everybody all over this building, praising the name of the Lord together. Come on, everybody, lift Him up. Magnify His name right now.

[Music]

Come on, that's it. Magnify and honor the name of the Lord.

[Music]

My God. In the name of Jesus. Not God. In the name of Jesus Christ.

[Music]

That's it. That's it. That's it. Magnify the Lord with me. Magnify the Lord with me. Oh, magnify the Lord.

[Music]

[Applause]

[Music]

Hallelujah. Everything that we're doing today is biblical. The Bible instructs us all through the Psalms to play upon the instruments, the stringed instruments, the drums, the symbols. It says to dance before the Lord, to jump, to leap, to clap our hands. One interpretation is to spin, while spin wildly. And all the things people do at football games is idolatry. It's worshiping something that can't even help them. Well, the reason we're doing what we're doing here is we have a God that's brought us out. He's changed our lives. He's turned us around. He's made us different. Shake someone's hand. Look. Make sure you welcome our guests right quick as you go back to your seats. Make sure. Look around. Find the guests and make sure they feel welcome today. Stand in honor of the word of the Lord. I'm going to go to the word of the Lord because it's time to go to the word of the Lord. It's right in the spirit, and God is going to fill some people with the Holy Ghost today. This young man that's praying right here in the middle, God wants to fill you with the Holy Ghost before this service is over, sir. I don't know your name. What's his name? Brother Foley.

[Music]

Anton. God's going to fill you with the Holy Ghost today if you'll let Him. All you got to do is yield. Welcome to all of our guests today. Acts chapter 19 and verse 3. Acts, the 19th chapter and the third verse for your consideration today. Acts 19 and 3. And he said unto them, unto what then were ye baptized? And they said unto John's baptism. And he said unto them, unto what then were ye baptized? They said unto John's baptism. Let's read on a few more verses here before we see that. Verse 4. Then said Paul, John verily baptized with the baptism of repentance, saying unto unto the people that they should believe on him which should come after him, that is on Christ Jesus. Verse 5. When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. Verse 6. And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Ghost came on them, and they spake with tongues and prophesied. God bless you. You can be seated right where you're seated. Would you lift your hands and ask the Lord to open our minds and our hearts to His word today? That's a very important prayer. God, in the name of Jesus, I'm asking You to open our minds and our hearts and our spirits to Your word today. In Jesus name. Open our understanding to the word of the Lord. In the precious, precious name of Jesus. I want to mention a couple of things to you right quick before we go into the word, and that is that I'm so appreciative to Brother Max Smith, who filled in a Sunday for me, and then to Brother Torrey, who did a great job Tuesday night. I'm very, very grateful for that. Very, very thankful. They did both did a tremendous job, and uh, and we're thankful. So, uh, but I'm glad to be back in the pulpit today, and I want to report to you that I, I received a miracle. I had a six-millimeter kidney stone, and of course, this church was praying for me, and Monday, a group gathered around me and prayed for me, and I'm telling you, that kidney stone was instantly dissolved. Something happened to it. I don't know what happened. I had had one pain, one symptom.

[Applause]

And then I want to tell you that we received another notable miracle this week, uh, that was much greater than the healing of a kidney stone, and, uh, that was, uh, and I believe my timeline is right. I believe it was Saturday. Uh, we received a report that, uh, Sister Kim Bozeman, a very faithful member of this church. I told someone, I, I don't ever remember, and I'm sure she has, but I don't ever remember in 20, uh, four years of pastoring her, I don't ever remember her missing a service. Now, I'm sure they've went on a vacation or something and and missed a midweek, but as far as her just missing church, I don't ever remember it. And Gracely has received the, uh, in our, in our school, Gracely's received the perfect attendance award over and over and over again because I don't know of anybody more faithful than Kim Bozeman. There may be somebody as faithful. There may be somebody as faithful as Kim Bozeman, but I don't know anybody more faithful. And, uh, so, uh, she just, she just don't miss church. And last Saturday, basically, the doctor, and I know there was a little bit of language barrier, but still in all, at the end of the day, even in spite of the language barrier, it was very obvious that Kim's doctor was preparing Daniel for her death. She was completely unresponsive, completely unresponsive, even to the, uh, the moving of a light in her pupils. There was absolutely no response. And, uh, Kim was closer, Kim was closer to death than she was to life by a long shot. And under any other circumstances, we would have accepted the doctor's words, probably lost hope, and lost faith, and lost Kim. But I'm going to tell you what was ringing in the back of my mind when Brother Daniel called me is a few weeks ago, there was a prophecy that went forth in this pulpit that great revival was coming to this church, and it was going to be started with notable miracles. And I just fully believed with everything in me that Kim Bozeman was going to be the beginning of that process.

[Applause]

And I am. And listen, when I, when I say the next words that I say, I'm not taking anything away from Daniel Bozeman. The reason that I put him on the prayer team up here with Brother Simpson is because he's a man of faith. He believes in miracles. But I'm just going to tell you something, there's none of us that is above our faith being shaken when a medical doctor tells our lifeless spouse, tells us that our lifeless spouse is gonna die. That's the message that he got. And I had to calm him down, naturally. But I'm going to tell you, I may have been in the same position had I got that report. But I said, I had to say, hang on, Brother Daniel. You listen to me. We've got to believe the report of God, not the report of this doctor. Now, I respect doctors. I'm not taking anything away from them. But you have got to not listen to that. You have got to believe that your God is a miracle-working God, and that you've not served Him for naught, and you've not believed in Him for no reason. You got to believe that God is going to raise her up. And then we went down the journey of, well, if she does come back, she may not be right in her mind, and she may not have all of her faculties. And, and I, I said, Daniel, listen to me. We don't accept any of that.

[Applause]

We don't accept any of that. I said, I tell you what we're believing. We're believing that she's going to come out of that completely in her right mind, with every one of her faculties completely together, and Kim Bozeman's going to be the same Kim Bozeman that went into that hospital in Jesus name. Hallelujah. Last Sunday, last Sunday, our precious Kim lay in a hospital bed. They moved a light across our pupils and saw no response. They couldn't get her to respond at all. There was absolutely no response to commands. I don't know what level of life support she was on. I know she was on a ventilator. Somebody might could tell me. Does anybody know? From what I understand, she was probably completely alive because of life support mechanisms. This Sunday, she woke me up, texting me, telling me that all her vitals were perfect, telling me what she had for breakfast, telling me she can't wait to get out of the hospital and get back to church.

[Applause]

100% coherent, 100%. And this is the beginning of a string of miracles that is going to break out into the greatest revival this church has ever seen. Listen to me. Only God can do that. Only God can. Oh my God, have mercy.

[Applause]

The doctors admit that there was nothing they did. The doctor admitted when he talked to Daniel that it was out of his hands. Oh my God, have mercy. He admitted when he talked to Daniel, "This could happen, that could happen. It's out of my hands. It's nothing. It's nothing I can do." My Lord, have mercy. That's why he, he was preparing Daniel for her death. But I'm telling you, I serve a miracle-working God. This needs to be heralded abroad. It needs to be believed in. It needs to be stood upon that we serve a miracle God. And this is the first. If you can get a hold of it, this is the first in a string of miracles that's going to establish this church, that's going to reach this area for the gospel, and your family could be next. You're.

[Applause]

And let me tell you a couple. We're not talking about Sister Rita Kennedy. The only way reason you're sitting on this pew today is a miracle. And we don't need to overlook that. We do not need to overlook that. You're here by the mere grace of God. Anybody else that went through what you went through would not be here today. Sister, not Mildred. Mildred's daughter, Sister Sandra. You're here because of the miracle grace of God. You see, when you talk about, "I hadn't seen a miracle," I had, I, I'm gonna tell you, we, we overlook so many miracles that God performs. So many miracles. Sister Rita has had several bouts with cancer that would have taken her out. Let me, let me, let me tell you another one. Let me tell you another one that we overlook and we don't talk about. Come on, Sister Tatum. Very few people come through a brain tumor like the one you had, all in your brain, and 10 years later, they're sitting in the house of God, completely functional, come in of her own accord, completely in a right mind, still running her business. We need to quit overlooking the miracles of God.

[Applause]

[Music]

And understand that there are so many. I've only named a few that are coming to my mind. All across this building, there are miracles. Lift your hands and thank God. Come on, praise Him together right now. Come on, somebody magnify His name. You know what? Somebody needs to pray right now. God, increase my faith. God, increase my faith. You can be seated. You can be seated. Sister Copeland. Stand. Diagnosed three years ago, four years ago with Lyme's disease. Many of the people that were diagnosed around the same time she was, that we became in contact with when we learned about something we didn't know anything about, and that was Lyme's disease, ended up in wheelchairs. Some of them died. Some of them are paralyzed in all kinds of situations. That had the level of Lyme's disease that my wife had, she is completely healed. Listen to me. And something that's going on that's unheard of. She now takes Lyme tests and it's totally undetectable in her system. They can't even find it. That doesn't happen either. That's a miracle. You know, this isn't what I'm gonna, I'm gonna preach today. I'm gonna preach something else. But I guess I'm running out of time. Well, let me just talk to you about this. 11, 12 years ago, 12 years ago, we weren't in this building yet. We were in the building next door. This building was about halfway complete, and I began to have health, health issues and begin to go to doctors. And one of the doctors that I went to said, "Brother or Pastor, I'm very concerned that you have cancer in your GI tract. I need to do an upper and lower GI, and I want to prepare you that, you know, we could find some things at that point." I didn't have any insurance. And he said, "Okay. He said, you don't need to wait a long time with this, but you need to go get insurance. You need to get past the pre-condition time period, and then we need to do these tests, but you need to do this immediately." I was, um, I was at home, and I don't want to take too long with this, but I was at home, and my phone rang one morning early, and my uncle, Brother Tim Copeland, who, uh, was one of the elders in my life, said, "I have a, I have a holistic doctor that treats cancer, and God woke me up this morning and told me that you need to go to that doctor and be tested and let her treat you." And having faith and confidence in him like I do, I immediately boarded a plane, went to see this doctor, and she began to treat me holistically for cancer. Said that her machine that she tested me on detected the numbers were real high for, for cancer. During this time period, I still had an appointment to go back to this GI doctor and was making arrangements to get insurance to cover it and all that kind of stuff. You know, I don't know why. I don't know why even as a preacher, we don't just throw our hands in there and say, "God, I need a miracle." But we get caught. Listen, if it's us or one of our loved ones, we get caught up in the emotions of it. And anyway, long story short is, is I, I, and my wife remembers all this. Some of you remember it. Brother Stephen Adcock, I think, is working today. I don't see him back there, but he, he remembers all this because I was discussing it with him, talking to him about it. And, uh, just a strange thing happened, I believe to show God, or for God to show me how powerful He is. Brother Floyd Bozeman, you know what I'm talking about because you went through this exact same scenario. But I was in my office one night before service, preparing for service, right in the middle of all this. This church was being built. I told just a few people what I was dealing with, what the doctors had said, both the medical side and the holistic side. Brother Arnold Walters, I, I remember right over here on the side of this building right here, I told you about it. I'll never forget that day because I, I knew that day how much you loved me because of the way you responded. It meant a lot to me. I want to tell you that I told him what the doctors were suspicious of, and of course, he immediately arose up, rose in faith, and said, "Brother Copeland, we need you, and God's going to heal you, and God's going to take care of you because we need you." He said, "We got to finish this building, and you got to pastor this church." I'll never forget what those words meant to me. And I was sitting in service one night about, I don't know, 5:30 in the evening, preparing to preach, and all I can tell you is I was sitting at my desk, and out of nowhere, sitting at my desk, writing notes, praying, trying to hear the voice of God for a midweek service, and I felt like a mule kicked me in my gut. That's the only way I know how to explain it. And I went to jump up from my chair, and when I did, the only other explanation I know is I felt like my chest was sewed to my knees. I, I could not, I could not lift up into an upright position. I could not do it. I tried several times. I could not raise up. I was paralyzed in a crouched over position. And I sit back down. I didn't know what to do for an hour, hour and a half. I just prayed. I kept believing in a few minutes, this will be over. In a few minutes, this is going to set us aside. But it only increased in pain until finally my family arrived at church. I told my wife what was going on. Uh, of course, she immediately said, "We need to get you to the emergency room." And I refused. I said, "No, service is about to start. I need to be out there. I need to lead service. I need to preach." I don't remember who preached that night. All I know is I could not leave my office. And when service was over, several of the men came into my office to check on me. And finally, about 11 o'clock at night, Stephen Adcock executed authority. He's a lot bigger than me, you know. He picked me up out of my chair, put me in his vehicle, and rushed me to the emergency room. When I got to the emergency room, they did some X-rays, and the two doctors began to whisper among themselves. And anytime they start that, you, you know, I've been, I, I visit people in the hospital all the time. I'm a pastor. I, when they start whispering, I knew I don't know what my problem is, but it ain't good. And the end of the story is, my colon had perforated. The older doctor wanted to put a colostomy bag on me. The younger doctor refused. Said, "Absolutely not. We're not doing that to this preacher. He's not wearing a colostomy bag." He said, "He's young enough and healthy enough that we're going to put him in the hospital. We're going to put him right beside the nurse's station in case he crashes. We're going to put four kinds of antibiotic antibiotics in his system for a week, bring the infection down, and then we're going to take his colon out and stitch it back together. It's gonna be okay." The older doctor said, "That ain't gonna work. You're gonna, you're gonna kill that man. He's gonna die." And the younger doctor said, "Absolutely not. He's healthy. I went over his vitals. He's healthy enough to live." I did not know that in the same week, a nurse in St. Elizabeth Hospital, where my wife's sister works, was on the fourth floor, her colon perforated, and before they could get her to the ER downstairs on the elevator, she died. God is a miracle-working God. I had, by this time, my colon had been perforated for hours. I'd been through it. It happened about 5:30, and this was 12:30 at night when this conversation was going on. And so, I'm standing here talking to you today, a miracle in two or three situations. The second one, the second one is, is when they did my surgery, the doctor came into my room, said, "I don't know what's going on with you, but there's your colon was very discolored, almost almost like cancer or something had been there and was gone." He said, "That's all I know how to explain to you is there was a discoloration like cancer had been there and it wasn't there anymore."

[Applause]

He did not know that the doctor across town was going to set me up with him, and we were going to do something about it. If I, if I had cancer. God is a miracle-working God. I hope each and every one of you understand that we have not because we ask not. That our faith is not high enough. That we're too dependent upon the medical field. Thank God they're there. Thank God they're there. But it does not need to be our first route of action. Our first route needs to be to throw our hands in the air and say, "God, You're a healing, almighty God. You are a miracle worker, and I put my faith and my trust and my confidence in You." And then you alone. Does anybody believe in the miracles of God? Does anybody really believe God's a miracle worker? Man, I feel the Holy Ghost in this place. Why don't we just take a moment to praise Him? Just, I'm just going to follow the Holy Ghost. I mean it. All across this building, won't you just take a moment? Come on. Come on. Come on. Come on. Come on. Come on. Come on. Let the Holy Ghost move in this place. Come on. Come on. Let the Holy Ghost work right now.

[Music]

Come on. Come on. Come on. Come on. Reach out. Reach out. Reach out. Reach out. Reach out. Reach out. Reach out. Man, I feel such an anointing in this. I don't know what God's gonna do next, but I'm giving Him room to work. Come on. I'm giving Him room to work. Does anybody believe He's a miracle worker? You know, you could lift your hands and receive a miracle right now. You could lift your hands, and there's enough faith in this house, you could receive a miracle right now while I'm talking to you, right in this service. That's it. That's it. That's it. That's it. That's it. That's it. Let Him work. Come on. Let Him work right now in this house. Believe Him for the miracle right now. Come on. Trust Him for your miracle right now. Come on. Trust Him for your miracle right now. That power that you feel in this place is the Holy Ghost. That's the Holy Ghost. That's the presence of God. The Spirit of God moving through this house. That's what you feel. It's the power of the Holy Ghost. And because there's so many guests here today, I want to take just a moment to explain to you that there, and and we can go into a study later of this, but there are several different types of tongues that Paul teaches us about in the New Testament. One is a tongue that demands an interpretation. One is a tongue that demands an interpretation. When that tongue goes out, there's something about it. Any of you that's been around the Holy Ghost and around the moving of the Spirit and went to a Holy Ghost filled church knows that it's just amazing. You hear one person speak in tongues, and you know they're speaking in tongues for their own edification. But another tongue goes out, and the entire church falls silent. Nobody has to explain. Nobody has to say, "Let's be quiet. Let's be quiet." There's, there's such an authority to that tongue that it's a tongue that demands an interpretation. You say, "Well, why would someone speak in tongues?" Is it the only reason for tongues that it be interpreted? No, because there's a devil that's constantly on your back telling you, "You really don't have the Holy Ghost. You really don't have the Spirit of God." And there is a tongue that the entire reason that that tongue comes is to reassure you that you still have the Holy Ghost. It's not to be interpreted. It's for your own benefit. There is another tongue that edifies those around you. What does that mean? It means that we're all judgmental in our spirit, and we need to hear other people talk in tongues. What does it do? It reminds us that the Holy Ghost is real. It reminds us that that particular person has the Holy Ghost. You say, "Well, that's judgmental." Well, I just read to you in Acts 19 where the reason they judge that these people that received the Holy Ghost is they heard them speak with tongues. Another place is Acts 10 where they doubted that Gentiles could receive the Holy Ghost. You say, "Well, there shouldn't be a tongue to edify somebody else." Well, let me just ask you this. If you're a mother and a father, and you have a child that's been rebellious and unruly and haven't been doing right, and just about lost your confidence, and they come to this altar and they receive the Holy Ghost, wouldn't it reassure you to hear them speak with tongues? Would it not minister to your spirit as a parent? Does it not minister to any grandparent's spirit when they hear their child speak in other tongues as the Spirit of God moves on? So, there's not one kind of tongue. There's a tongue that edifies the believer. I'm just going to tell you, there's been, I've been through times in my life where the only thing that helped me is in my private prayer to hear myself talking a brand new tongue that I'd never heard before. It meant everything to me. It's meant everything to me to walk by one of my girls' bedrooms and hear them talking. They're talking in tongues. It's edified me to hear my wife speak in tongues. But then there's another tongue that when it goes forth, you don't have to tell anybody. Let me tell you something. I've been at General Conference with 20,000 people in a coliseum, and someone taught, start speaking in tongues, and 20,000 people fall out. There's nothing else that can shut down a, a coliseum with 20,000 people except an anointed tongue. I'm going to tell you, a man can get up on a megaphone and scream in a coliseum, and it won't shut 20,000 people down, but a genuine tongue will make an entire coliseum fall silent, and they don't even have a microphone. That's the authority of that kind of tongue. So people that don't like the move of the Holy Ghost, and people that don't like tongues, will make a big deal, "Well, where's the interpretation? Well, where's the interpretation?" All they're showing is their ignorance and the fact that there's several different types of tongues. There's not, there's not one tongue for one purpose and one reason, but there are several types of tongues. And once you get the Holy Ghost, you immediately know the difference. And that's why they can again, I want to repeat myself one more time. Somebody could be up in the choir, talk it in tongues, and, and the microphone pick it up, and people just keep worshiping because they don't have that sound, that don't have that ring. You automatically know that tongue is for them. That's a personal tongue. They've been going through a struggle and through a trial. They wonder if they even have the Holy Ghost, and God's reassuring them. And then at the back of the building, someone that's not even on the platform, not even in the microphone, can start talking in tongues, and the entire auditorium, a building this big, shut down because that tongue comes with such a power and authority that it silences the crowd. So I want to explain to you, if someone's been, been trying to damage tongues to you, you just witnessed something powerful in this place. When for the last hour, you've heard people talk in tongues all over this building, and nothing falls silent, but two people talked in tongues, and it shut the crowd down. That's the difference in tongues and what they're meant for. Lift your hands and reach out to the Lord just a moment, everybody here. Come on, would you magnify the Lord just a moment? Hallelujah. Hallelujah. My God, have mercy. I want to talk to you for a few minutes, and I promise you, I will watch the clock. It's going to be my dead level effort to be done at 1:30. It's going to be my effort to be done at 1:30. If you'll give me a little more than 15 minutes, I believe I can, I believe I can complete this. How many of you will work with me just for a few minutes here today? I want to talk to you about the attributes of the Holy Ghost. Or let's leave the Z off because it's not all of them, okay? So let's call it attributes of the Holy Ghost. If I say the attributes of the Holy Ghost, you think that I'm complete. This certainly will not be, be exhaustive today. All right. So, attributes of the Holy Ghost. Attributes of the Holy Ghost. I read to you Acts 19:3, where they were re-baptized in the name of Jesus because they understood they needed to be. And then secondly, they received the gift of the Holy Ghost because they knew they needed the baptism of the Holy Ghost. Now, there are many people that preach salvation at believing, and there's several places in the book of Acts that lets us know that while believing on the Lord is the beginning of salvation, it's not the end-all of salvation. It's only a step. It is a step. It's a very important step. In fact, believing is, is an important, a step as receiving the Holy Ghost, because you can't get the Holy Ghost if you don't believe. So no step is, is greater than the other. They all have equal importance. Believing is very important. Believing until you repent. A belief system that is so strong that it brings you to repentance, and repentance should drive you to baptism. Many more people want to point to the fact, the Bible says, "He that believeth shall be saved." But if you, if you read the whole word, you'll see that it says, "He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved." So these are steps toward a complete package. You've got to believe, but then because you believe, you've got to become obedient to the word of the Lord. Believing ain't the end-all. It, it starts you asking, "What do you need me to do?" or "What must I do to be saved?" So once you believe, you got to begin to obey the steps. True belief will drive you to obey the word of God in its entirety and in its wholeness. And so you will be baptized. And so they, another place is Cornelius. Cornelius was a believer whose belief may rival some of ours. In Acts 10, the 10th chapter, we find a Gentile who so believed that the Bible, he's one of, one of the few people in the Bible that the Bible indicates that he prayed always. He prayed all the time. In fact, he out-prayed most of us that's in this building. How many of you have prayed until a glittering angel appeared? Raise your hand if you've prayed until you've seen a glittering angel. There's one or two, uh, in this building today. The rest of us hadn't prayed like that, but Cornelius did. He prayed an angel down. Now, brother, you got to be a believer to pray like that. He believed so much that he gave large sums of money. There's some of y'all who haven't believed that much, I'll tell you that right now. He was a true believer. But if, if so, if believing was enough, then Cornelius was done. But when he wanted to be saved, that angel sent him to a preacher. And you know what that preacher did? That preacher preached until Cornelius' household received the baptism of the Holy Ghost. And there became an argument among the Jews because the disciples went back and said, "Cornelius and his whole house received the Holy Ghost." They said, "That's impossible. The Holy Ghost is only for Jews." Boy, if you all think racism started in this last hundred years, hmm. Racism started as far back as Moses. I'm going to say that again. Racism started as far back as Moses, and it's wrong. It doesn't matter who's doing it. It don't matter what creed or color they're against. Racism because of the color of skin is wrong. Racism because of class is wrong. Racism is an in a company between the white collars and the blue collars is wrong. You know, there's all kind of racism. They sneak up on y'all's blind side. Racism between religions is wrong. Racism is wrong. Anytime you're putting somebody else down because they're not like you, it's a form of racism, and God can't bless it. And you can't be saved till you pray through over it. And the Jews did not believe a Gentile could receive the Holy Ghost. And so we find in that chapter, the 10th chapter of the book of Acts, the first litmus test for the Holy Ghost. The only way they could convince. They didn't tell them, "Boy, you should have seen the smile on their face. You should have seen the joy in their heart." It wasn't none of that. You should have seen how contented they, they felt. You should have seen the miracles that happened. The sign of the Holy Ghost was not connected to miracles. It wasn't connected. There was one thing that was the end-all. When they told them that, there was nothing else the Jews could say. They had to accept it. And it becomes the litmus test for everyone that receives the Holy Ghost. And it's one of the signs I was talking to you about earlier. It's not just the edification of the one that's talking in tongues. It's the education of those standing around that hears it. They looked at those among the priesthood, among the authority and the church, the elders, whatever you want to call them, the bishops, the presbyters, the apostles, whatever name you want to give them, they were the leaders of the church. And they said, "But we heard them speak with tongues." And when they said that, the argument was over. If they talked in tongues, they have the Holy Ghost. And that broke the back of the racism that Gentiles could not receive the Holy Ghost. Listen to me. It threw the door open to whosoever will.

[Music]

If you want the Holy Ghost, you can have it. I don't care how low you've been. I don't care how high you've been. It doesn't matter the color of your skin. It doesn't matter your race or your creed. It doesn't matter whether you're a butcher or a baker or a candlestick maker. It doesn't matter if you're working the steerage of the ship or you're riding in the finest car. If you want the Holy Ghost, you can have it. But if you want to know you got the Holy Ghost, then you got to hear yourself speak with tongues. Oh, somebody clap your hands and magnify the Lord. Whoo! Somebody clap your hands and magnify Him in this house. And God wants to fill somebody with the Holy Ghost today. The book of Acts. Why do we go to the book of Acts? Because it is the beginning of the church. It's the beginning of the church as we know it. It, we, we understand that it began. The church began in Acts the second chapter as the disciples gathered in a room and waited on the outpouring of the Holy Ghost. They were there because Jesus told them, "Go wait in Jerusalem, and I will endue you with power." Everybody say, "Power." How many of you understand the answer to just about everything in your life is power? Power answers almost everything. And He promised them, "If you'll go to Jerusalem and wait, I'll endue you with power." I want to talk to you about what that power brings in your life. I want to talk to you about attributes of the Holy Ghost very quickly. I, I have two minutes. I limited myself to two minutes. One is, you will have abiding evidence. The unction of the Spirit will live in you because it brings intimacy with God. Yeah. You know what? I'm gonna bypass a bunch of my scriptures. I gave them about 20 scriptures. I'm gonna bypass them because I'm out of time. It removes all doubt. It breaks bondage and fear. I will go to that one because you need it. John 8 and 7. I'm going to tell you, if you're dealing with bondage and you're dealing with fear, you don't have the Holy Ghost. If you're dealing with bondage and fear, if you're dealing with anxiety and depression, the problem is you don't have the Holy Ghost. Somebody said, "Brother Copeland, I, I, I won't, I won't." We, we reverse it. Seven and eight. Forgive my dyslexia. Listen, uh, listen. It's very important that you hear what I'm telling you. If you're dealing with bondage, fear, and anxiety, you don't have a Holy Ghost. Somebody said, "Brother Copeland, I know I do have the Holy Ghost." You need a renewing. If you're dealing with bondage, fear, and anxiety, the only thing that's going to answer that is for you to get in an altar and say, "God, forgive me." Because bondage and fear has to be directly tied to doubt. And if you, if you're not a believer, you don't please God. The unbeliever is limitless. The unbeliever is listed with those that are going to hell. So you're not saved if you don't believe. And the only way you can be dealing with depression, anxiety, and fear is because your faith is shaken. Oh God, I don't want to run my ship ashore. You need a renewing of the Holy Ghost. You see, when Jesus said, "If you drink of this water, you will never thirst again." Well, boy, I'm just doing good on these scriptures, aren't I? Let me get up here and find out what's going on. Will y'all forgive me for lying to you? Let's go to Romans 8 and 15. How about that? Will you forgive me for lying to you? I told you I was going to be done at 1:30. It's 1:31. Do you, do y'all want to hear some more of this? You want me to quit? All right. It's only by vote. How many of you give me, uh, 10 more minutes? Raise your hand if you give me 10 minutes to finish my message. Okay. Thank you so much. The rest of you, I don't know what to say. If it wasn't important, I wouldn't be going here. Let's look at Romans 8 and 15. The Holy Ghost removes all doubt. I want to re-tell you again, that's why speaking in tongues is necessary because the devil will convince you you don't have the Holy Ghost, and, and you're not reassured by speaking in the same old tongue God gave you last time. See, that's what tricks people. They get this tongue, and then it's the same tongue over and over and over and over and over again for years. That's no proof you've got the Holy Ghost. You need to speak with a new tongue. The Bible says, "God will give you a new song." It's talking about the same thing. He'll give you a new tongue. You need to pray. If you are dealing with fear, anxiety, even if you've previously had the Holy Ghost, if you're dealing with depression, fear, and anxiety, your only answer is not.

Zoloft or Xanax? Your only answer is getting in an an altar and saying, "God, forgive me for doubt, forgive me for confusion, forgive me for fear, and baptize me afresh for the Holy Ghost until I get a new tongue," because the only thing that's going to lift fear and doubt and anxiety over you is a full belief that you're in the hand of God and nothing that you go through is going to trouble you or bother you.

Nothing that you go through, the Bible says, "the steps of a good man are ordered of the Lord." That's in my notes. So any road I walk, as long as I'm full of the Holy Ghost, living for God, there's not a road I can go down that God didn't put me on that road. And if God's going to put me on that road, He's Father enough to take care of me as I walk it. That don't mean I won't go through trouble, but it means I won't go through trouble alone. It doesn't mean I won't go through some things, for "you have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear, but the spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father."

What does that mean? It means God is your daddy, and He's going to take care of you, and no matter what you go through, you're going to be in the palm of His hand, and there's no reason to fear. There's no reason to deal with oppression. There's no reason to deal with anxiety, because God has you. And so you have that abiding, be seated. You have that abiding in you. He removes all doubt. Everyone who received the Holy Ghost in the Bible spoke in tongues, and everyone who receives it today will speak in tongues. And the reference to that's Acts 2:38, Acts 10:44, and Acts 19:1-5. All right, let's move on very quickly.

The second thing the Holy Ghost does is He makes Jesus real to you. You have such a relationship that it gives you an identity of who Jesus is and a true identity of who you are. The Holy Ghost makes Jesus real. No ritual or format can do this, because the devil's attack is against your identity. He don't want you to know who you are in relationship to Jesus Christ. All right.

Second, the baptism of the spirit will give you stability of character. The Holy Ghost will stabilize who you are. You won't be wishy-washy anymore. You won't be in and out. If someone's in and out, they're not staying full of the Holy Ghost. I'm not going to say they never got the Holy Ghost; I'm saying they're not staying full. When He said, "if you drink of this water, you'll never thirst again," He didn't mean that one drinks enough. He meant that you'll never thirst again because you know where the fountain is. You know where the whale is. You gotta come back and drink again. That's why you never thirst again, because you keep renewing. And if you're in and out and wishy-washy, it's because you're not staying tied to the altar. You got to have a relationship. And I didn't say it would make you perfect; I said it would stabilize you. Too many people think that Holy Ghost field people ought to be perfect. Perfection isn't going to happen till the catching way of the church. We're not going to be perfect till we're in heaven.

You say, "Well, what then? What's the difference in somebody has the Holy Ghost to somebody don't have the Holy Ghost?" Somebody that has the Holy Ghost may make a mistake, but they're not going to live in sin. They may mess up, but they're not going to live a sinner's lifestyle. They may fool around and get salty and tell you off, but if they really got the Holy Ghost, they're going to come back and fix it and repent and say they're sorry and say, "I made a mistake," and they're going to fix it. The Holy Ghost don't make you hot, make you perfect; it makes you stable. The Holy Ghost is when you're taking that, I mean, perfection is when you're translated. The Bible says, "the mortal is going to put on immortality." We all live in bonds of flesh. The Holy Ghost just gives you the ability to live above your flesh. It don't mean your flesh ain't gonna crawl up on you from time to time. That's what that altar's for. When you feel that, that, that flesh crawling back up on you, you better run to an altar and say, "God, deliver me from myself." There's a lot more of us that needs deliverance from ourselves than these deliverance from the devil. I'm just going to tell you, my biggest enemy ain't the devil. I pretty well got him conquered. It's Mark I have problems with. Anybody else? I gotta move on.

So it makes you stable. It makes you stable. It makes you live a victorious life, that there's no hesitating and despairing and dejectedness and lukewarm and foggy with an unidentifiable sort of testimony. The Holy Ghost makes you bold and hot and and climb the mountain and sweep victory. But I, I'm telling you, it makes you victorious. Ephesians 3:17, right quick. Ephesians 3:17. While I move on, musicians, come and give them some hope. Your course will be the path of the just. Psalms 37:23. We won't take time to go there, but "the steps of a good man are ordered of the Lord." Let's look at Ephesians 3:17. "That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded." People that have the Holy Ghost are grounded. They're stable. They're not perfect, but they're stable. The Holy Ghost supplies comfort, motivation, hope. It gives you an incentive to keep living for God.

Third, the baptism of the Holy Ghost will comfort you. John 14:26. It will comfort you. I am so sick of people in the church being down and depressed. Not, listen, I'm not throwing stones at you. Can I tell you something? I've been there, but it's not the will of God, and it's rooted in doubt. It's rooted in a fear that you're in this world all alone and that you've got to take care of yourself. And you know what? In the kind of world we live in, if I thought that, I'd have to be on pills. Let me tell you what to help you: take that pill bottle and throw it out. Besides that, there's, there's more suicide among those that have taken antidepressants than people that hasn't. As I was preparing and writing the notes for this message, it was on this very point. This morning, my phone went off with a news flash, and the newsflash was, "America now has the highest rate of suicide among children in the world." The greatest country in the world has more children committing suicide. I'm going to tell you, psychiatry and pills is not the answer. The answer is in a full belief that God has you in His hand, and as long as you got the Holy Ghost, there's nothing to fear, that God's got you, and your steps are ordered of Him.

And let me just tell you, for those that think God throws you away every time you make a mistake, the Holy Ghost don't make you perfect; it makes you repentant. That's really what the Holy Ghost does is it makes you live a life of repentance. You don't live in sin, but when you make a mistake, you quickly repent, and you quickly fix it, and you quickly get it right. And it's that power of the Holy Ghost that taps you on the shoulder and let you know when you've messed up. But "the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you." The Holy Ghost wants to comfort you today.

Number four, the baptism of the Holy Ghost will give you joy. To give you joy because it gives you glimpses of what heaven's gonna be like. You will know the purpose and the grandeur of life. You will know the reason why you were created. What does the joy of the Holy Ghost do? The joy of the Holy Ghost let you know if you're on a sinking ship, you're going to be all right. It, it, it reminds you that the, the, the adversary can't snatch one soul out of your command. You can enjoy revelation, rebuke the devil. Like many other things in life, the Holy Ghost works if you do. The Holy Ghost works if you do. God, please, Simon says, as you draw close to Him, He draws close to you. As you go to this altar, people that struggle in the Holy Ghost are the ones that don't submit to the altar. If you've got the Holy Ghost, but you never come to this altar when the, when the altar call's given, you go out the back door, you have something more important to do, it's no wonder that you struggle. The water that refreshes you and renews you is up here. You've got to get to the fountain time and time and time again. I'm done.

The Holy Ghost, number five, my last one, the Holy Ghost will give you authority in the spirit. Listen, it literally gives you the power to speak on the behalf of God. When God fills you with the Holy Ghost, and that's why you have to seek for it, because He has to trust you. You will not get the Holy Ghost until He's got your whole heart because of the authority it gives you. You understand? He's trusting you with the authority to speak things into existence. He said, "once you get the Holy Ghost, let me tell you what's going to happen to you: you can cast out devils, you can drink any deadly thing and it won't hurt you. If you get bit by a serpent, you can shake it off." There's an authority that comes with a Holy Ghost.

Somebody said, "I've been seeking the Holy Ghost and I can't get it." It's because you got to have a total surrender, because He's not going to give it to someone that's not totally surrendered. And I don't have time to get into this, but that's why speaking in tongues is the evidence of the Holy Ghost, because your most unruly member is your tongue. And He knows when He's got your tongue, He's got the rest of you, like the rudder of a ship or like the bit in the horse's mouth. It's the tongue that makes the difference. And when you start getting weak in the spirit, the first thing that's going to get loose from the Holy Ghost as you're done, well, hallelujah, anyhow. But the Holy Ghost gives you authority. I'm done. But can you imagine the authority that the Holy Ghost gives you? It gives you the ability to speak on behalf of God. He said, "command the mountain to be moved and cast into the sea, and it will be done." One place He literally says, "command ye me." If you got the Holy Ghost, just tell me what you want me to do. I'm not talking about eloquence; I'm talking about you'll speak and it'll grip the heart of other people. I'm talking about you speaking and the, and the, you become the spokesman of the spirit. Acts 5:12 tells what kind of authority, you stand together. It tells what kind of authority the Holy Ghost gives you. Listen to me. Acts 5:12. "And by the hands of the apostles were many signs and wonders wrought among the people. And they were all with one accord in Solomon's porch." We're going to read on here. Look at this. "And the rest does no man join himself to them, but the people magnified them." Verse 15. "And believers were added, multitudes of them, both men and women." Verse 15. "In so much that they brought forth the sick and laid them in the streets, that at least the shadow of Peter." Listen, these, the Holy Ghost gave these people such power.

Somebody said, "But you're talking about the apostles." I'm going to tell you that Bible says that God's no respecter of persons. If you want this and believe this, God can give it to you. Such authority, such authority that they would lay their sick in the streets, hoping that just the shadow of Peter would pass across them, and they would jump up healed. You know what the Holy Ghost wants to make you today? Listen to me. You know what the Holy Ghost wants to make you today? A puppet in God's hand. God, God wants to put you on like somebody puts on a glove until He moves inside you with healing and power and authority. And when you speak in the spirit, it's the voice of God speaking. God wants to give somebody that today. I'm done.

But I'm telling you, I came today because God wants to fill somebody with a Holy Ghost today. I'm preaching to you today because God don't want to just give you the Holy Ghost alone. He wants to deliver you from the grip of bondage. He wants to set you free from fear and anxiety and panic attacks and all these things that are troubling you. I don't care if you've had the Holy Ghost. Let me tell you what it would be of the will of God to do in the next 15 minutes before two o'clock. It would be the will of God for everybody that needs a renewing in the Holy Ghost to get a renewing. Are you too ashamed today to say, "You know what? I think I need a renewal." Are you too ashamed today to lift your hands and say, "You know what? I probably need renewing in the Holy Ghost. It'd probably be good if I talked in a brand new tongue today."

I wonder if you're too ashamed today to say, "I've never had the Holy Ghost, but I'd sure like to have it. I'd sure like to have that Holy Ghost you preached about today. I'd like to have power and authority with God." These altars are open. Some are coming. Come on, musicians, singers, help me out. Come on, the Holy Ghost is here. I think it'd be the will of God on this Pentecost Sunday for everybody in this house to get a renewing of the Holy Ghost. There ought to be brand new tongues being passed out all over this building. There ought to be brand new tongues being passed out all over this building today. Come on, everybody, all the way back under the balcony, would you lift your hands and reach out to the Lord? All the way back under the balcony, why don't you come out of your pews and join us in these altars? Leave these altars, these eyes open. Hey, this is Pentecost Sunday. Why don't everybody come to the altar today? This is Pentecost Sunday. Why don't everybody gather in? I want to invite everybody to gather into this altar today. Come on, come on, come on, reach out, reach out. The Holy Ghost. [Music] [Music] Let God [Music] let Him deliver you and set you free. Come on, come on, come on. [Music] [Music] Come on, let God fill you. [Music] He wants to use you. He wants to [Music] perform everybody. [Music] [Music] Touch and reach out. [Music] Come on. [Music]

Listen, I'm asking, I'm asking that every head be bowed and every eye closed, and everybody listen to me just a minute. I got to give a personal message to somebody today. I'm going to tell you, if I ever say God spoke to me, you can depend on it. I don't get up here and just do that stuff. God just spoke to me. There's somebody here, and if my feeling's right, you ain't even at the altar yet. You're still back there in those pews. But there's been a longing in you to be really be used of God. You would love to lay hands on sick people and see them healed. You would love for the Holy Ghost to work through you to help other people. And you've wanted that in your secret time of prayer. You've asked for it. I don't know where you are. I wish God would show me. I'd come to you privately. But I'm telling you in the Holy Ghost right now, the Holy Ghost just spoke that to me. And the Holy Ghost told me that if you would yield to Him in this service right now, He would give you that because that's the desire of your heart. Your desire, the heart, your heart is for the Holy Ghost to work through you to help others. And I'm telling you, God wants to anoint you with that today, today, today. If you want that, you know what? It's not just for the person I'm talking to. It's for anybody in this altar. He's no respecter of persons. If you want it, cry out to Him right now, and He'll give it to you. Come on, let the Holy Ghost follow you. Come on, come on, come on. Somebody pray for somebody else. Find somebody and pray for him right now. Find somebody to pray for him right now. Come on, find somebody in worship with us. [Music] Come on for a few minutes. [Music] Come on, work your way through. Open these eyes. [Music] Look at me. [Music] Look at me now. [Music] Oh. [Music] She's. [Music] [Music] Oh. [Music] [Music] Oh, I. [Music] Let the Holy Ghost. [Music] You see, the Holy Ghost. [Music] You made all things. See, that's what you do. [Music] Come on, God wants to use people in this house. God wants to use people in this house to spread His glorious gospel. [Music] Come on, let the Holy Ghost. God, in Jesus' name, let the Holy Ghost. [Music] You made all things. [Music] You gave me. [Music] Look at me now. [Music] So. [Music] Oh. [Music] By the Holy Ghost today. God's commissioning them in the spirit right now. They're gonna lay hands on the sick and they recover. They're gonna lay hands on the sick and they're healed. Oh, yes. [Music] [Music] Anointed people out. [Music] Do it, Holy Ghost. [Music] Send them out to help others. [Applause] [Music] Holy Ghost, use of the Holy Ghost. My God, let him be used. Holy Ghost. [Music] [Music] When I feel lifeless and tired and burned out and defeated, your perfect love will find me there. [Music] All over this building, let's lift our hands and thank God for what He's doing right now. Come on. [Music] For the miracles, authority of the Holy Ghost. Holy Ghost authority, work for this house. [Music] I was still. [Music] Come on, lift your hands and praise the Lord together. I said, lift your hands and worship together. Oh, magnify the Lord. Oh, magnifies the Lord. [Music] Holy Ghost. [Music] Holy Ghost. [Music] Holy Ghost. [Music] Come on, one more time, lift your hands together. Just give God praise. I know we do a lot of that. We can't do it enough. There's no way to worship Him too much. [Music] Thank you, thank you, thank Him for the miracles that He's worked. [Music] I praise you, Lord. I magnify your name, Jesus. [Music] [Music] I love you, Lord. [Music] Thank you for the way the Holy Ghost has worked in this field. [Music]

You know what? I feel like we don't need to rush out. I feel like we need to bask in His presence just a moment here. I'm gonna let you go, but just let's just give Him some room right now, the closing moments of this service. I love you, Lord. Use us, Holy Ghost. [Music] Use us to work some signs and miracles and wonders. [Music] I'm going to tell you something, if you'll stay full of the Holy Ghost, the, the signs and wonders of miracles were not, is not just for preachers and apostles and prophets. It's for anyone that's full of ghosts. If you're full of the Holy Ghost, you ought to be able to lay hands on anybody. You're to be able to lay hands on the sick and expect them [healed]. [Music] You have power over the enemy. You don't have to be afraid anywhere. If you're full of fear, it's not of God. Any, you ever been in a hotel and felt evil spirits there? Rajan, if you ever been in the hotel, you just felt evil, you know what you do? If you're full of Holy, don't you say, "In Jesus' name, I rebuke any spirit." [Music] "You have no authority in this room. This is my space." You know what you do? You lay down in the bed and go to sleep. Don't worry about it, because you have authority. You have authority. [Music] You take authority in the name of Jesus, and it's for everybody here. There's no reason why, from young to old, you know what? I preached this years ago, and Brother Mark Busby and his brother, I preached this years ago, and they got a hold of it and truly believed. I mean, they really believed it. The next day or two, they was playing basketball in a church parking lot, and a lady pulled up in her car, and somehow another, they told her, she told them she was having trouble on her legs and couldn't walk and had crutches in the car, and or a walker or something in the car. And they laid hands on her, and God healed her right there in that parking lot. At that time, Mark Busby was what, 16, maybe 15, 16 years old. I'm telling you, God wants to use every one of you, but it's the Holy Ghost that gives you that power and authority. Lift your hands one last time. Thank God for this service.
