Downey-Type Reactive Lymphocytes versus Non-Downey Type Reactive Lymphocytes

Downing type reactive lymphocytes versus non-downing type reactive lymphocytes.

Non-downing type reactive lymphocytes are generally small and condensed. However, the cytoplasm is deeply basophilic. The nucleus is very condensed, and you may see prominent white striations developing very plasma cyttoid characteristics.

Versus your Downy type reactive lymphocytes are usually the spready ones that you see where the cytoplasm is stretching out. The edges have a basophilia to them, and that blue radiates towards a lighter blue as it goes towards the nucleus. The nucleus generally starts to stretch. You're getting overall a significantly larger cell with the Downy types versus your non-downy types.
