A Hidden Treatment for Autoimmune Disease? Consider This!

Hey everybody, we're talking about autoimmune disease today, and we're talking about a possible hidden treatment that a lot of people are not talking about. Now, we're talking about DMSO.

So, DMSO is a solvent that has been used for a long time in medicine to drive things deep into the skin. So, for example, if I combine DMSO with another agent, it helps to penetrate the skin better and allows the medication to get deeper. So that's one of the most common uses of DMSO.

DMSO, as far as FDA approval from an internal perspective, has only been used for the bladder condition called Interstitial cystitis, and it's shown to be a very helpful therapy for that. But what's real interesting to me, and this is not FDA proof stuff, but this is research, and I'm going to put some studies in the show notes for you on this, is that DMSO can improve autoimmune disease.

One of the problems we see with autoimmune disease is a dysfunction in a type of cell called a T-regulatory cell. And the T-regulatory cell helps to identify and helps the body to properly identify self from not self. So when our T-regulatory cells are working well, we can clearly see that, hey, that's a bad thing in the body, I should attack it, or that's me, or that's a good thing in the body, I should not attack it. And we see with autoimmune disease, this T-regulatory function often times is not working so well.

So DMSO has been actually shown to improve T-regulatory cells and T-regulatory cell function, and so therefore, it could be useful in cases of autoimmune disease. Ulcerative colitis is one autoimmune disease that has been studied with DMSO, and it's been shown that DMSO can help with this condition.

Most of the side effects that I see are things like rashes or gastrointestinal symptoms. So we do want to make sure that if we're doing DMSO, one, never buy any anything for if that is for external use only and put it internally, right? So you want to get DMSO from your doctor compounded clean where you know for sure what it says on the bottle is what you're getting. And two, obvious, of course, like talk to your doctor about this because there are interactions, and it's something that still needs to be studied a lot more.

But I'm really curious about this particular agent used internally for autoimmune disease because we do know, like I said, this T-regulatory function is such a big deal with autoimmune disease, and we do see that DMSO can improve that cellular function. And that's a lot of the challenge with recurrence, right, with autoimmune disease, is how do we get the cells to properly and the immune system to properly identify, hey, this is good, this is self or something good, don't attack versus, hey, this is bad, we want to attack that. So that's what we really want to look at with autoimmune disease, and DMSO is showing good potential in research for that.

So definitely something to be working with your functional medicine doctor about to see if that's a, you know, potential option for you. But I wanted to share this because I'm pretty excited with what I'm reading in research on DMSO and its potential utility in this methodology. I'll put those studies in the show notes for you. Please do share this information with your friends and family. It really does help more people like you. I really want to get this information out, and thanks again for listening.
