In this video, I'm going to explain step-by-step how to reverse the detrimental effects of Ozempic using carbohydrates. A systematic review of the benefits of metabolic priming.

And in the video, I'm going to explain step-by-step how when clients come to us who have been on Ozempic or currently getting off Ozempic or who want off Ozempic, how we deploy a strategy of carbohydrates to improve their thyroid hormone, to decrease cortisol levels, to improve cognitive function, and improve energy and sleep. All to get their lives back after using this detrimental drug. There's a lot of stuff coming out about it right now, so I feel this is a relevant topic.

But, with with with that being said, if you guys don't know me at all, my name's Adam Bundle. I'm an online metabolic specialist, and I specialize in metabolic manipulation. We've worked with over a thousand different men in several different countries using this approach called metabolic priming. And in the video, I'm going to explain specifically when clients come to us have who had been using Ozempic or wanting to get off Ozempic, how we deploy a strategy of carbohydrates to actually like get their metabolic function back to normal, back to a healthy level.

So, with that with that being said, let's get right into today's video. So, this is a client who had come to us, his name's Isaac. This is him just getting off Ozempic at 280 lb. This is him 800 calories more at 237. So, significant difference. And so, what I'm trying to explain though is that he's getting off Ozempic and he came to us and he was like, "Hey, like I don't know what to do next. Every time I eat a little bit more food now, my my cravings are through the roof." So, we had to deploy a strategy of carbohydrates to improve everything that had done to his body, right? And so, he had successfully, you know, lost almost 45 lb eating 800 more calories, right?

So, the truth about Ozempic is that when a patient is on GLP-1 antagonist, which is what Ozempic is, they typically consume a very low-calorie diet, often ranging from 800 to 1200 calories per day. So, the reason the way that Ozempic works and the reason that it works is that it it crushes your hunger levels. So, it's not that like it's some magic drug that just poofs fat away, it simply just makes you not think of food and not feel hungry. So, as a as result, it just makes you not eat, which is very detrimental because as a male, you should be eating 2,500 to 3,000 calories for a healthy individual, for normal energy levels and a normal normal energy function to keep your, you know, organs moving properly.

So, the chronic energy deficit triggers an evolutionary survival mechanism and causes a famine response. Or some call it metabolic adaptation, right? So, the the further that you lower your calories, the further that your actual basal metabolic rate or metabolism starts to lower. The faster that you lower it, the faster that it crashes, right? So, there's a direct correlation to the food intake that you have and then actual your BMR. So, once you start to reduce calories significantly, statistics show that 40% of the weight loss from Ozempic is from muscle tissue, which leads to a lower metabolic need.

So, we have to think about like muscle tissue in the human body, right? In the male human body. When you when you're a male, muscle tissue is what keeps testosterone high, keeps glucose regulated, keeps insulin regulated because muscle tissue is a highly metabolic part of the human anatomy, right? Um it takes eight calories just to sustain 1 lb of muscle tissue. It takes 2 calories to sustain 1 lb of body fat. So, muscle tissue is four times as metabolic as body fat. So, when you lose 40% of your muscle mass or 40% of the weight is muscle mass, you lose a detrimental amount of your metabolic need.

So, also, there's a reduction of thyroid when you start to undereat. When you chronically undereat, your body down regulates your thyroid hormone, specifically T3. T3 is the gas pedal for your metabolism. When you starve yourself on 800 to 1,200 calories, your body takes the foot off the gas to keep you alive. So, now you come off the drug and your body has down regulated T3 levels to a mere none. And you put a bunch of food on top of it, and that's when you gain the weight right back.

So, on top of that, reduced leptin. So, leptin is a satiety hormone that that produced by fat cells. It tells the brain, "We have enough energy. Stop eating. Hey, we're full." When you chronically restrict carbs, your blood sugar drops. The body releases cortisol to break down muscle tissue into glucose or gluconeogenesis to keep you alive. Chronic high cortisol causes insulin resistance. Your cells stop listening to insulin because they are in survival mode, prioritizing glucose for the brain.

So, there's a paradox effect that happens with insulin and carbohydrates. So, the carbohydrate insulin model, we'll get a little bit more insulin here in a second. The carbohydrate insulin model, you know, it carbohydrates aren't the direct correlation to high levels of insulin. You know, a regulated insulin, what it looks like is a a sharp spike and a sharp spike back down. But, like, when you have high levels of cortisol, the the keyhole, which is insulin what insulin does is turn the keyhole, it starts to actually be blocked by cortisol, which causes insulin resistance. So, you have this detrimental effect with low-carb diets or like, you know, calorically restricted diets in general, where like low-carb and and calorie-restricted diets causes cortisol levels, which causes insulin resistance. You eat a little bit of carbohydrates, your insulin spikes, you gain the weight back, and you say, "Oh, carbs aren't for me." Right? Because you've created this system for yourself. You've created this biological effect that has actually created insulin resistance.

Now, how do we reverse this? This is what we're getting into. So, what happens when you get off the drug is your appetite returns, your muscle tissue is already gone, so you burn for you calories, your T3 is crashed, and your cortisol levels are so elevated, you're insulin resistant. So, this is a perfect storm for rapid, uncontrollable fat gain. A result a significant drop in basal metabolic rate and increased resistance to carbohydrates.

So, when we talk about carbohydrates, like why do we use carbohydrates and why does this model of metabolic priming revolve around using carbohydrates? So, it's about the abundance effect, lowering cortisol. So, when your body's in scarcity mode or like low like low calorie calorie restricted mode, your body down regulates insulin sensitivity to save glucose for the brain. Metabolism slow down producers reserve energy. When we give the body more energy, which carbohydrates are the main form of energy in your body, you have your body turns into more of abundance mode. It turns into a safety mode. When you constantly feed healthy carbs, the body up regulates the machinery to handle them and signals safety for fat loss machinery. So, we give your body more carbohydrates, it says, "Oh, we're safe." Parasympathetic nervous system starts to come back to life. And then it starts to feel safe again, so it starts to let go of the cortisol. And when it lets go of the cortisol, insulin sensitivity comes back, you know, muscle tissue is able to actually grow again. And then, you know, your biological processes and metabolic processes start to work cleaner again with the with the with reduction of cortisol.

So, leptin and carbohydrates. Carbs versus fats for leptin. Research demonstrates that carbohydrate intake is far more potent stimulator of leptin secretion dietary fat. Jenkins et al. showed that carbohydrate overfeeding increased plasma leptin concentrations by 28% over a 24-hour period. Whereas fat overfeeding had no significant effect.

So, insulin signaling also improves, which increases muscle tissue and muscle mass. So, the body gets better at regulating insulin and reduces blood sugar levels. So, insulin's an important hormone. It's very important for building muscle tissue and for regulating glucose levels and regulating blood sugar levels. So, insulin's the most anabolic hormone in the body. It halts muscle breakdown catabolism and drives repair. Without insulin, you cannot build muscle, store energy, and essential for survival and growth. So, there's this there's this widely like popularized demon- demonization of insulin. And it's because people don't understand what insulin does and the importance it actually plays.

So, the first myth we hear is that oh, carbohydrates are you trigger insulin. With high levels of insulin, you're never going to lose fat. So, like the truth is is that no matter how high your insulin levels are, you can't gain fat without a caloric increase or a caloric a caloric surplus. So, like if you're in fat like quote-unquote, let's call it fat storing mode, but there's no surplus of calories to actually be stored, then you're not going to store fat. You know? You're not going to store fat because you don't have any calories to actually store. So, it's important to note that your your maintenance calories were basically where you've been eating your your structured maintenance calories and where you've been eating, like if you don't eat more in an extreme surplus, then you won't gain fat even if insulin levels are high.

Another thing is that like carbohydrate and insulin like carbohydrates aren't the only thing that spikes insulin. You know what else does? Protein. You know what spikes insulin similar to what carbohydrates do? Whey protein powder. So, it's not carbohydrates that actually increase insulin. It's simply just food that increases insulin. But when you start to increase insulin sensitivity, you actually start to have a more of a metabolic memory with insulin. So, yes, it's true. When you have elevated levels of insulin, you're in fat storing mode. But when you have better insulin signaling, that that post-meal, your insulin goes up and then 45 to 90 minutes later it goes back down. But if you have poor insulin sig- signaling, let's say you're going to a strict low-carb diet and you add carbohydrates and you add a bunch of insulin to it, it takes longer for those insulin levels to go down. So, somebody who's insulin resistant, their insulin stays elevated longer after they eat food. Somebody who's very insulin sensitive has more of a metabolic metabolic advantage because they eat food, their insulin rises, then it so it comes down very quickly. And so, you're more of a fat-burning mode more of the time because you're more insulin sensitive. So, it's important to have insulin sensitivity. Like, you don't want to be insulin resistant. You want to have insulin sensitivity. How do you have insulin sensitivity? You actually give the body your correlated amount of carbohydrates so that it regulates its insulin. And this is kind of how it works. It's like, meal one, you eat meal one, meal one has carbohydrates in it, you know, good protein, and then it goes up, and then it comes back down. Meal two, goes up, comes back down. But, with these people who are insulin resistant who are coming off low carb, or for instance, they're coming off like uh you know, Ozempic, their insulin goes up, and they have no metabolic memory of how to lower the insulin, and it stays elevated through the day.

How do we fix this? Is that we use metabolic priming, right? And so, like, when you talk about carbohydrates, there's multiple different studies done on carbohydrates and how they one influence blood sugar and neurotransmitter production, they influence serotonin in the brain impacting mood and sleep, they impact influencing body's cortisol levels lowering cortisol levels so we can improve insulin sensitivity, and impacting the conversion of T4 to T3 and potentially affecting insulin's role in that conversion So, carbohydrates are detrimental when it comes to your basal metabolic rate.

So, how do we fix all this? Metabolic priming. So, metabolic priming is a concept that we have created amongst our on our in our program. It's what's honestly probably made it made us extremely popular on the internet. Um the concept is based on the principle that your body adapts a chronic core deficit to by slowing down metabolism. Metabolic priming counteracts this by period periodically signaling to your body that food is abundant, which helps maintain a higher metabolic rate. So, the benefits is preserve muscle preserve your metabolic rate. It restores key fat loss hormones. It It restores hormones like leptin and ghrelin, which is like hunger. It restores T3 hormones. It decreases cortisol levels, reduces hunger and cravings, and prevents muscle loss. So, we can even pull up online and if you just simply search metabolic priming online, metabolic priming with carb refers to strategically manipulating carbohydrate intake to optimize the body's metabolic processes for effective fat burning and energy production. It's a technique used to prepare the body for fat loss phase. So, preconditioning the body enhance fat burning by strategically using carbohydrates. Metabolic priming can indirectly support fat burning. It can help the body transition more smoothly into a fat burning state by ensuring adequate energy stores and optimizing metabolic pathways for efficient fat metabolism. But, how do we put this into context? So, like we know what metabolic priming is. We know that we need to increase our calories with metabolic priming. We know that carbohydrates are better and we need carbohydrates to get off of Ozempic and improve insulin sensitivity, lower cortisol levels, and improve metabolism. So, the biggest caveat behind this is like, guys, you you cannot just add a add a undisclosed amount of carbohydrates into your diet at once. It's It's never going to work. Guys on my channel who comment on these videos, they say, "Well, I tried it and I gained weight." It's like and I tell and I tell them every time, you didn't do it right, right? You you can't just add carbohydrates into your diet. Like you have to understand the full process of of what's really going on. And so, like, we have to first of all understand where your current calories are, right? So, I want you to get a pen out and I want you to write this down cuz I'm not going to repeat it. What I want you to do is track your food for 3 days, right? If you don't know how to track your food, you've got way bigger problems. You need to learn how to track your food. But, track your food for 3 days. Or, if you know what your food is, you've already been tracking it the last 3 days. You add up all those calories for the last 3 days, and you divide it by three, which is how many days you tracked. You now have your average caloric intake. That is your maintenance calories, okay? That is your maintenance calories. If you're not gaining weight and you're not losing weight, your maintenance calories are now where you averagely should have been eating. Maintenance calories.

What I simply want you to do is put your body weight and like time You should just do one. Let's do one for for keeps just make it simple. One times your body weight in protein, right? So, if you're 200 lb, eat 200 lb of protein. 0.3 times your body weight in fat. So, if you're 200 lb, 60 g of fat. So, why do we use fat? Like, why do we use a lower fat goal? Okay. We understand insulin sensitivity and we understand metabolic processes like the body cannot does not have the machinery to optimize both high fats and high carbs, right? Because that means we have high levels of insulin and high levels of fatty fat free fatty acids. And so, the the the body or the or your metabolism has to prioritize one. What is it going to prioritize? It's going to prioritize carbohydrates. So, what's going to do to fat intake? It's going to store all that fat intake as body fat. Dietary body fat is more likely stored as body fat. And this is stated by de novo lipogenesis in men, and you can research that topic if you'd like. But, if we have a lower fat goal, that we is is going to one, keep fat free fatty acids low, a higher and we start to optimize carbohydrates, the body is going to primarily get better over time at using carbohydrates, right? So, protein's never going to change. Protein's at 1 g per pound of body weight. You've heard that before, but like the most misunderstood thing that we see is that people don't understand the difference between fats and carbs and how to how to actually structure the fats and carbs. So, a lower fat goal and then you back fill the rest with carbohydrates to meet the calories you're currently at. And then every week, all you do is you monitor this, okay?

So, what this looks like in context is like most men will come to us right around the 1,800 calories. Like they might be doing some cardio, it doesn't really matter. But their BMR is so shot from years of dieting, following BS advice online, that they don't really ever find the actual education that benefits them and supports where they're currently at. That's where we come in. We understand like the whole all this the metabolic stuff behind the scenes, your metabolism is what regulates 95% of fat loss. So, we have to understand that metabolism comes first. So, what I want you to do with your calories is simply just increase carbohydrate each week. You know, start like where your current calories are at. Simply each week, boom, add a little bit more, then watch your body weight, watch your body composition, right? Wait another week. Simply increase it a little bit more. Watch your body weight, watch your body composition. If your body weight goes up one week, let it let it ride for another week, right? Don't change anything. But the the the hardest part is consistency with this because the hardest part about coaching yourself and and walking yourself through this is the is the little things that you're tell yourself and why why you'll change something. It's like, "Oh, like oh, it's not working. Like I need to change it. Oh, it's I look I look fatter today. Like I need to lower the calories." Like trying to cut yourself and do this is extremely hard because you need a secondary perspective and that's why that's what we do. It's like we're the leading fitness coaching company in in in the space for the metabolic approach that we use. And this is how we do with every single one of our clients. I have hundreds and hundreds of different client testimonials, client results. All of these guys are just like honestly pretty much the majority past last 6 months, right? We've worked with hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of different guys. And what we do is we actually teach them all these concepts on how that you can do this yourself. What to be looking for in the metabolic priming process, how to maintain the progress afterwards. Like guys come to us solely for more education. And then you have to put your place in this space metabolically where you have low levels of cortisol, high levels of energy, high levels of T3 like the you know, thyroid hormone. And then, you know, things just work better because the more you give your body energy in the form of healthy carbohydrates and you you optimize a metabolic pathway high carbohydrates moderate levels of fat like the more the more health that will come to your way. We're reducing blood blood glucose levels. We're we're getting people off of Ozempic. We're improving cholesterol levels. We're improving heart disease because we understand the bio like bioenergetic approach of like more carbohydrates. But you can't just like add more carbohydrates. There's a systematic approach to transitioning the body into carbohydrate metabolism state.
