Yeah, Jesus died on a cross, but why is it that most Christians have no idea why he died on a cross specifically? Well, I'm going to tell you right now in under a minute.
As a Christian, this is so important to know because we need to tell others. Why couldn't have Jesus just died another way? Well, the curse of sin started on a tree, right, with Adam and Eve in the garden. Well, God decided to reverse the curse on a tree.
But why were his hands pierced? Well, it's simple. Because our hands took the fruit from the tree.
But why were his sides pierced? Well, it's because Eve is the one who led Adam into sin. Eve came from the rib. So Jesus made atonement for that sin, not only for Adam, but for Eve as well.
Why were his feet pierced? Because the first messianic prophecy was that the seed of the woman would crush the serpent's head.
Why? The crown of thorns. Listen to this. Because after Adam and Eve sinned, the symbol for the curse on humanity was thorns and thistles. So Jesus literally reversed the curse on his head.
The entire Bible, all of humanity, all of history leads to this point. And all of that prophecy was fulfilled.
