As we get older, something begins to disappear silently, without pain, without warning. And it's not memory, nor is it agility, it's muscle. And this is called sarcopenia, which is a little-known word, but which has very real effects. Sarcopenia is like that discreet thief who enters without making noise and little by little empties your shelves of strength. And from the age of 60, many people begin to lose muscle mass. And it's not just a matter of aesthetics, but of balance, strength, and independence. It's very important. Each decade, you can lose between 3% and 8% of your musculature. And by the age of 80, some people have lost a quarter or more. And you will ask me: What is the result? Difficulty getting up from a chair, a greater risk of falls, and less ability to do things for yourself. That is to say, it is very important. And that's why I'm telling you this clearly. And here are three simple options. The first, increase the dose of the shake, in that common sense. Instead of 15 grams, take 25 to 30 grams of whey protein, which is safe, digests well, and goes directly to the muscle. That would be the first option. The second option, combine protein-rich foods. For example, you can have the 15-gram whey protein shake, plus a natural Greek yogurt, plus a hard-boiled egg or a small omelet. And without realizing it, you're already at 30 grams. And a third option is to divide it into two doses, 15 grams in the morning and 15 grams in the afternoon. This is ideal if you don't have much appetite at once to consume the total amount. The important thing here is not to do it perfectly, but to do it consistently, because what maintains muscle is not intention, it is habit. Now, there is a very common mistake that can ruin all of the above, even if you take the perfect protein in the perfect amount. There is something that many people do wrong. It is a mistake they make even if they take the correct protein, in the correct dose, and at the right time. And what is this terrible mistake? Taking the shake and spending the rest of the day sitting down. Protein doesn't work magic on its own, muscle needs a signal. A signal? And what is it? Movement. You don't need to lift weights or join a gym. A simple gesture is enough, a clear message to the body that says: This muscle is still being used. I propose something simple.
