How Money Laundering Works?

Hey there. Maybe you've heard some news about money laundering. No, it's not about cleaning your dirty money in a washing machine. Money laundering is actually the process of making illegally gained money look legal. It's all about cleaning that dirty money to make it look clean, hence the term laundering.

Let's say you've just done some not-so-legal activities, like robbing a bank or selling drugs, and now you have a million dollars in cash. If you deposit this money in a bank, they're going to start asking questions about where it came from. These suspicions will attract the government's attention, and if you get caught, you'll be jailed. You can't just tell the bank and government that you got this money from illegal activities, so you lie and say you got it from legal activity, like running a restaurant. But wait, you don't have a restaurant and you can't cook. No problem! To make it seem legit, you buy a restaurant, hire staff, and serve real food to real customers. It doesn't matter if the food is bad or if you have no customers, because this restaurant is just your washing machine for dirty money.

Here's the trick: you take some of your dirty money from illegal activities and mix it with the restaurant's revenue. So if you make $10 from the restaurant and $20 from illegal activities, you'll tell the bank and government that your restaurant made $30. Now the bank and government think the entire $30 came from your legal restaurant, making it clean money. You can deposit this money into the bank without any suspicion.

Money laundering isn't always about restaurants or fake businesses. There are other tricks, like playing at casinos, buying expensive art collections, real estate, or even using cryptocurrency. And of course, don't try this at home. If you want me to make other videos about these tricks, please like and subscribe. Thanks for watching.
