[Music] [Music] What's up my special friends? So let's talk about retrograde inner planets today.

So the Sun and the Moon are never retrograde, but the planets Mercury on out are sometimes retrograde. So when we're talking about Mercury, this one is the most famous for retrograde motion because that would affects our everyday life when it happens in transit. But in the natal chart, about 18 percent of people have Mercury retrograde. The mind is more introverted and considerate of ideas. It's still philosophical but bound to tradition. The thought processes are less spontaneous. Mental introspection is directed toward inner realization rather than external participation. These people have a more considerate mode of mental operation. There is less overt communication and more introverted communication going on. The confidence to blurt out thoughts that have not been reviewed or reconsidered is not always there. They review before they share. Feeling reticent or even unsure about communicating can be a factor in how and why they often will share less or self-censor. There's nothing wrong with having a Mercury retrograde, but it does sometimes impede being understood because we can struggle with confident organization of our thoughts. Often we can see ourselves as not very good writers or not very communicators. The thing is, the thinking is very successful with a retrograde Mercury. They are actually typically sharper than average. It's the way that Mercury is not emboldened to express itself. We have a harder time with externalizing Mercury when it's retrograde, and we can organize information differently. It's that simple difference. It often translates to feeling out of place or out of step and then responding to that feeling with a behavior.

So Venus is retrograde about every six weeks, every 584 days. It is not retrograde often compared to the other planets. A retrograde Venus really presents one with an issue regarding self-worth and proper valuation of the self. Their self-appraisal is different than the criteria that other people have. Their standards that they expect themselves to meet are different. Typically, their standards are based on a criteria of how successful they are at keeping their real feelings and often desires under wraps or personalized. So they don't often end up feeling very connected. Venus is our understanding of receptiveness and femininity. In a woman's chart, these two things can be very challenged. She can have a hard time accepting, a hard time with what it is to allow another to care for her, and this results in challenges with closeness and intimacy. We don't feel we have a right to outwardly express behaviors that are vulnerable or feminine or pass allowing to one to receive is an art we develop with a retrograde Venus. Self-esteem is impacted due to the lack of one being comfortable with their natural version of themselves. It often doesn't match outward accepted standards or criterias, and so there's a judgment that the comparison between the two springs from a lack of self-love for what one is. Can result in unhealthy relationships. Letting go of relationships for people with a Venus retrograde is also very, very hard. They will stick with something that is not really working but somewhat functional because they lack the confidence to approach the devil that they don't know. Sticking with the devil that they do know is always safer than risking a meeting with the devil that they don't know. They can also be more prone to on even types of relationships where we may have one partner that is maybe older or more or less economically sound, and this disparity can help someone, someone with a Venus retrograde, to feel more secure in the relationship because pair relationships require more equality, and that can result in a dynamic where it's easier for partners to extricate themselves from relationships. So Venus retrograde people essentially don't feel confident that they can catch and keep that fish because that's self-appreciation for their unique flavor of fishing is lacking. Their modes of expression are out of step with natural life instincts, and the use of Venus, which is aesthetics, is more personal. So it's going to be more quirky. Appreciating this different mode of expression, its uniqueness is essential to feeling like the themes that Venus represents are not disintegrative.

Mars retrograde. Mars retrograde people deal with an issue that stems from finding it hard to launch their initiative. Issues of timing are internalized. Mars is our hunting style. It's how we catch our prey. Maher shows how you get what you want. Venus is what you want, but Mars is how you get it. Mars retrograde is like a geyser that comes up and then comes back down on itself. The energy emerges. We have an initiation, a launching, but then it flows back down and internalizes. The competitive nature of Mars turns into self-competitiveness and sometimes self-punishment, if aspects to Pluto, verse Saturn or Uranus are supporting that. Sometimes in Virgo, because we feel like we're never doing a good enough job or never meeting that mark. So internal inflammation can be a physical symptom of a heavily aspected retrograde Mars. Our difficulty aspected Mars, one needs to learn to mobilize their Mars, to mobilize their energy, their anger, to get it up and out. This takes learning to see one's use of anger, initiative, physical strength as assets to be confidently used when engaging with the world. They develop their confidence in their hunting skills. Many athletes that have a retrograde Mars have developed their internal ability to endure, and a lot of athletes do have a retrograde Mars. Their reflexes were sharpened by refining their skills against the bar of their own internal competitor. Bringing that skill out into the world through having the confidence to share it brings a sense of involvement, of getting what we want outwardly. Mobilizing Mars is the basic lesson. This increases one's confidence in how they can win and participate successfully in life, and also in sexual relationships.
