Hello everyone and welcome back to this brand new video by Nero Corvino. I don't know what the weather is like in your area, but the summer season is approaching, girls. So what does this mean? It means we're going back to talking about how to protect your hair in summer. I'll be honest with you, I didn't want to redo this video because in the past I've already talked about this topic. I've talked to you about how to protect your hair in summer, how to prepare for summer, how to face summer, and I'll leave the videos linked above where I talked to you about how to prepare your hair and skin for summer. However, it's also true that, in my opinion, 'repetita juvant' (repetition helps). I don't want to give you the exact same speech I gave you in those videos, which I remind you, you can find in the banner up here if you also want a slightly more in-depth topic where I explain the themes we will also address in this video, but in a slightly more detailed way. Since 'repetita juvant', I thought of drawing up a small list of five precautions to take in summer to preserve your hair. Five precautions that, on the one hand, serve to review a bit the videos that are on the channel regarding this topic, and on the other hand, precautions that I learned the hard way because last year, last summer, I was really very bad with my hair. I deserved it. I then had to cut 12 cm off the ends because unfortunately, I practiced badly, so I preached well and practiced very badly, girls. Last year, you really wouldn't have been proud of me if you had known. Um,
The first thing to do is make sure you protect your hair and skin physically, regardless, of course, of the sun protection that I, girls, hope you use. For our hair, the discussion is obviously a bit different. Clearly, our hair cannot be compared to skin, we already know that. It is dead matter. It is not vascularized tissue. All the damage our hair unfortunately suffers remains, so it is really very important to preserve its health. The first thing we can do is certainly use a kind of physical filter: a hat, a scarf, anything that allows us to shield ourselves from the sun mechanically. Staying under the umbrella when the sun beats down on our heads, clearly, regardless of hair, I hope you don't expose yourselves during the hottest hours, like from 1 PM to 3 PM, because you're crazy. My mother is one of those people who really hit that anti-healthy time slot, but I realize that many people love that time slot to go to the beach, also because it's more convenient, even from work. Those who live in coastal areas might have that time range to go to the beach and therefore take advantage of it. I understand that, but in any case, try at least to minimize the damage. Regardless of this, which are good summer habits, what we can do first of all is, as I told you, use a summer hat, a scarf, anything that mechanically protects our hair. A second thing we can do is, in some way, coat them by using an oil. There are natural oils, including coconut oil and olive oil, which also have a function as a sun filter, as sun protection. It's clear that oils don't work miracles, okay? It's not like you can afford to stay with your head under the sun just because you put on olive oil. Be careful, girls, you must always use common sense. In these cases, we're talking a little bit about preserving the health of your hair. Use an oil that can somehow protect them a little bit from sun damage and from saltiness or from pool chlorine, sea, and so on.
The second thing you need to be careful about is doing few shampoos or using light shampoos. After swimming in the sea, after swimming in the pool, or in any case after being at the beach, it's clear that hair might need to be washed. However, if we have the habit of going to the beach every day, as happens to me, who is lucky enough to have a grandmother who has a house by the sea, and I'm also lucky enough to have my mother-in-law who also has a house by the sea, so I have this opportunity to go to the beach whenever I want. I am one of those people who go to the beach every day and one of those people who swim with their hair down. I am not one of those people who keep it tied up and swim like up to here, because, I mean, it happens, of course, maybe if my hair is clean and so on, but generally I like to swim just like mermaids, essentially, right, with all my hair floating, so I have to wet it every day. I don't wash it every time I go to the sea because it would be counterproductive. You can do two things. The first thing, first of all, is to try not to shampoo every day. That is, try not to use bottled shampoo or solid shampoo every day, whether it's organic or silicone-based. Try to minimize the use of a cleanser a little bit. What you can do, however, is alternate the use of shampoo with Ayurvedic herbs. For example, today I go to the sea, yesterday I shampooed, and today I want to have a nice swim in the sea. Maybe the water wasn't very clean, okay? If the water is really clean and crystal clear, maybe you can do an acidic rinse at the end when you rinse your hair without using shampoo. If the water is not very clean, because it can happen, perhaps prefer a pack with Ayurvedic herbs to give a very delicate and very light cleansing to your hair and scalp. When you come home, rinse your hair well with water. Prepare a pack with Ayurvedic herbs in 5 minutes. You can use Sidr, Nim, which is an excellent natural antibacterial, Amla, Cassia, a whole series of herbs, also Shikakai, for example, which cleanse but in a very delicate way, volumizing the scalp. You can also put a gel inside to give a boost of hydration to your hair. Massage this pack onto your hair and scalp in particular. Leave it on for 10-15 minutes and then rinse thoroughly. In this way, you don't use the shampoo that you usually use, for example, the one in the bottle, but you will use the herbs that cleanse in a softer way, and your hair will at least not be continuously stressed. Of course, the fact of always touching your hair, manipulating it, rinsing it, washing it, drying it, etc., etc., is not fantastic. It's also true that in summer, one doesn't want to deprive themselves of swimming anyway. Summer is a bit peculiar as a season. Hair always tends to get a bit damaged even if we don't go to the sea. Anyway, you sweat a lot, so it's clear that washes can also be frequent in this way, but at least you will use substances that help the hair and not just detergents.
The third tip is to do hydrating masks, do more than you should, girls. Please, don't miss out on hydrating masks in the summer season; perhaps they are more important than ever. Don't miss out on flaxseed gel, fenugreek gel, aloe vera; any gel is welcome, natural gel, I mean, not the one for styling hair. Any type of gel is welcome. Try to clearly do frequent masks. Try to be consistent because the water lost in summer is greater than what you lose in winter. Sun, saltiness, chlorine, sweat, anything makes the water in your hair shafts evaporate more easily, so it's good to replenish it. If you are people who wash their hair very often in summer, it can be a bit annoying to do hydrating masks every single day, and in any case, it wouldn't lead to a desired result because then the hair gets stressed, so it would be counterproductive. Do a hydrating mask maybe twice a week, leave it on for 20 to 30 minutes, even an hour if you have the time and you like it, and then rinse. It's very important, girls, please, this is truly fundamental, otherwise your hair will dry out. This is one of the things that unfortunately last year I didn't feel like doing. I had the time, I mean, time can be found, okay? I was very tired, I was under exams in the summer season because then I had to take some subjects in September to graduate, I was doing my thesis, I was working, I had little time, I must tell the truth, but the time I had, perhaps because I was too tired, I don't know. Anyway, I really neglected my hair and I made a mistake because then I had to cut a lot of centimeters at the end of summer, so hydrating masks are too important, and clearly then always seal with a leave-in. I'll leave the video I made about leave-in here in the banner above; don't miss that either. Clearly, girls, if you use leave-in on dry hair, you're not doing anything, so you must use it after having added water.
The fourth thing to do is hydrate yourselves well from the inside: water outside and water inside. Eat well, try to eat a lot of fruit, a lot of vegetables, stay hydrated, drink a lot of water, and above all, eat healthy. I know it's harder in summer because there's ice cream, there are sweets. Then maybe you go on vacation and you devour, I don't know, a bar full of Sicilian cannoli. I know, I understand. I'm Sicilian, so I understand it perfectly. It's a bit difficult in summer. It's always difficult when you live in a place that has good food anyway, but try at least not to miss out on a lot of water and healthy food, especially a lot of fruit, a lot of vegetables, and a lot of dried fruit, because for our hair, it's very important. Healthy hair starts especially from our scalp because if our body is not well, has deficiencies, or is not very hydrated, it will not have the necessary energy to build healthy hair. I can assure you of this. Also because when our body is suffering, we might be a bit dehydrated, we have nutritional deficiencies, we eat poorly, and therefore we don't have all the nutrients our body needs, the first area of our body that is affected, so the area from which resources are taken to be allocated to more important body districts, is the hair. The body, in fact, in moments of danger, let's say, in moments when it doesn't see what it needs arriving, takes from areas that are not essential for its survival and gives to organs, to the heart, to the brain, so that those resources that remain are given to important organs. So, nutrition, girls, is really very important; don't neglect it.
The fifth and last tip I want to give you for this little recap of ours is to wash off the saltiness and chlorine from your hair as soon as possible. When you go to the sea or the pool, try, if obviously possible, to immediately rinse off the saltiness from your hair and also the chlorine, obviously if you frequent the pool, because they dry out enormously. When you have the possibility to rinse them, do it immediately and try to rinse with plenty of fresh water. Then, if you manage to have the opportunity, get into the habit, especially in summer, of doing an acidic rinse. If you don't know what an acidic rinse is, here too I'll leave you, if there's still space, the video where I talked about acidic rinse and basic rinse. In summer, it's really very important because it rebalances the natural pH of the hair and also closes the cuticles, the scales of the shafts, so that the hair remains cohesive, doesn't de-structure, doesn't remain dull, water stays inside. In short, an acidic rinse is really very important, especially in summer. If you notice that your hair is still clean even if you've been swimming in the sea, perhaps because the water was particularly clean, you haven't sweated particularly, so your hair has still remained clean even if you wet it at the sea, if it's not strictly necessary, don't shampoo. Rinse them with plenty of fresh water and then do the acidic rinse. Clearly, girls, oil masks are also very important, but oil masks come at a later time. The important thing in summer is not to miss out on masks with natural gels and leave-in. While perhaps once every 15-20 days you can do an oil mask, preferably using a very light oil: coconut oil, jojoba, also olive, or grapeseed. We talked about oils in this video that I'll leave here above, which you can still retrieve if you missed it. Well, girls, I think I've finished the video here and I've told you what I think is most important to know when you need to prepare your hair for summer. I didn't want to be too repetitive and I didn't want to re-address the same topic word for word because I've already talked about it, and I remind you that up here in the banner you'll find all the videos that might be useful for you. For any questions, girls, you can leave a comment below. I will try to answer you if I can help you, and let me know what you do in summer to protect your hair. What I promised myself this year is to be good and to try to behave in the best way with my hair because I wouldn't want to have to shorten it again in September. I was really very sorry when last year in September I had to cut 12 cm, so this year I would like to avoid it, and on my hair, which is very long, the results of when I neglect it are visible, and this makes me sad because, as you know, I care a lot about my hair, and it's sad to see that perhaps because for a period I don't feel like taking care of it, then there are not-so-beautiful results. So, girls, I'll say goodbye now and we'll see each other in the next video, always here on Nero Corvino.
