I Replaced my 6AM Premarket Trading Routine with Claude + Codex

Humbled Trader23:29

Transcription

Every morning before the bell, two completely different AI brains act as my pre-market trading analysts. They read from various market data and news sources, argue about it, and hand me a pre-market watch list report based on my very own back-tested strategies. And the wild part, I built these AI analysts for basically free. No API costs, no fancy scanners, market data sources, or new subscriptions.

If you ever sat there at 9:00 a.m. with 17 different tabs open trying to figure out what's gapping up premarket, what's the news catalyst, and any major events happening today? Then this AI system is made for you. This is what you're going to learn in this video. How to create an AI pre-market analyst that'll ship you a pre-market report every single morning using both Claude and Codex. How to feed AI your real trading rules and strategies so it stops handing you generic garbage. How to gather live market data for free, no API calls. How to wire in a second AI brain to fact-check your analyst reports. And how to ship the whole thing to your email inbox automatically before they open every single morning.

So, by the end of this video, you'll be able to create this entire AI system for yourself and customize your pre-market trading analyst to fit your strategy. If you're following along and build this with me today, do me a favor and drop a like down below and subscribe. I'm releasing a whole series on using AI to level up your trading, and this is just one piece of it. You can also follow along on my blog as a companion to this video. Every single prompt I use during this demo is there. You can copy with one click. No email required. Link down below. Now, without further ado, let's get started.

Let's start with stage number one. Designing a pre-market report with Claude. If you're subscribed to my free weekly watch list I send out every single Sunday, this is what my weekend watches look like. So, you can see the weekly market summary over here. I have some market trends, technical levels, economic news, and data. Basically, all the important events of the week and the trade ideas down below. So with that free weekly watches template in mind, we're going to make modifications to this for a daily watch list for day trading and potentially swing trading ideas. So this way we'll get a summary for the day by around 9:00 a.m. Eastern time every single week instead of every single weekend.

"Hey Claude, uh I'm going to provide you a template for the uh pre-market analyst report um from my weekend watch list screenshots. I want you to turn it into um a daily pre-market watch list version. I will tell you how to fill in each section later on with clear instructions, but for now I just want you to know this is a template I'm looking for. Okay."

So, once I have that, I'm going to also get my screenshot and drop it in to Claude. Okay. Instead of using the screenshots like I did earlier, you can also just copy the prompts on my blog. So, if you just go to my blog, the the site you see here, you can copy the template to feed to Claude over here. You can click copy here and you can see it shows all the different sections. Um the title, date, subtitle, disclaimer, pre-market gappers, day trading watch list, swing watch list, market trends of the day, technical signals, economic data, and all that good stuff. Most of these sections you see on screen over here will get filled by Claude and it's going to source all the news data and pre-market gappers and essentially build you a scanner and fill out each of the section for the analyst report.

Okay, as you can see here, after we gave it the instructions in which I gave Claude the template, it built the pre-market summary template. You can see market trends, technical levels, and of course, you're free to adjust, remove, or add your own sections to the analyst report as you see fit for your own trading strategy. But for me, u I really want to see the market trends whether today's market is risk on or risk off and other things like pre-market gappers, trade ideas. Um you can see these are the template and what's coming up soon either this week or today in case we have any economic events.

Okay, now that we have the design of the pre-market analyst report we want, we want to give Claude really tailored rules for our own trading strategies. So, instead of giving us really generic tickers or trading plans, I want Claude to know exactly what I'm looking for in a pre-market watch list. As you recall from our previous AI and trading videos, trend join long is a day trading strategy that I've personally been trading for years now. And this is a back-tested strategy. So if I go to my blog here, you can see that uh I have this prompt here that includes the day trading watch list criteria for the trend join long setup as well as for my swing trading strategy. So I'm just going to copy the prompt and give it to Claude.

As you can see here from the prompt, um this is a quick overview of my day trading trend long strategy. You can see that this is a back-tested win rate. We covered that in our last AI video. But here are the pre-market selections. All are required. Uh I want a stock gapping up um over 3% on the day. The price needs to be above $3 per share. Market cap needs to be at least a $1 billion and relative pre-market volume needs to be high. Um and for swing trade and here are the rest of the intraday plan as well as you can see. And as for the swing trading watch list, I like to create the watches every single day. But doesn't mean I'll take the trade. But here here are the selections. Um pre-market gap over 8%, $3 per per share minimum, and needs to open above the 200-day SMA.

And as you can see based on the rules that we just gave to Claude, it essentially built like a watch list criteria MD file. I'm sure you know by now, trading is stressful. Sometimes the volatility in our P&L can feel just as extreme as the market. As traders, we need a way to preserve our hard-earned money and put capital to work steadily over time. That's why I created the Humble Hedge using Questrade's custom indexing. Custom indexing is a first of its kind in Canada. As the name suggests, you can start with a template, customize it to fit your own investing goals, and rebalance everything with one click. Unlike ETFs, you directly own the stocks inside the index and there are no management fees charged by Questrade. Inside the Humble Hedge, I selected 30 stocks. I also conducted historical back testing to help design the index for long-term stability. I kept on exposure to tech, but focused more on defensive sectors like healthcare, financials, and consumer staples. The goal isn't to chase gains. It's to stay steady and preserve my wealth while my trading does the heavy lifting. You can use my index templates as your starting point and make it your own. Right now, if you open a custom indexing account at Questrade and link your custom index to it, you can enter to win $70,000 in TFSA contributions plus a luxury retreat. You can use a link down below to use my template and enter the contest for free.

And as you can see based on the rules that we just gave to Claude, it essentially built like a watch list criteria MD file. Also, because the strategy rules live inside a plain text file that Claude would read every single day, you can just swap in your own strategies. Remember, you don't have to trade the same strategies for day trading and swing trading as I do. The whole file that you just saw that Claude created can be customized to fit your own strategies. Another note is that I want to stress that it's so important that you do go through this step of feeding Claude or Codex your actual trading rules that are more specific. Remember, AI can only produce as good of results as the input. So if you give Claude no input at all from your own trading style, then it's going to give you really generic strategies and results.

Cool. Now that we have the rules written for our strategies and handed it to Claude, what we need to build now is the file that tells your AI analyst each morning where to source the data, the news, and the market data and fill in all the appropriate places for your pre-market analyst report. So to do that, I'm just going to go to my blog again and build the gatherer. As you can see, it's one giant prompt. If you want to see the details, it's it's pretty long like uh this because there's so many different sections, right, for economic news, pre-market gappers, and all that good stuff. So, I'm just going to copy and paste it to Claude.

While Claude is working, I just want to mention that all these data sources that I'm using in this demo, they are all free. We'll we'll be using I think free data sources from Yahoo Finance and other free market data sources and websites, especially the ones for earnings reports and economic news. There's no API keys required. So it'll be easy and free for any trader to set up. Not going to lie, this prompt because it's so heavy because again, there's so many different sections. U I think Claude is taking a while to process all of this. Um, you can see this is a meaty build. So, it's going to write this in the demo folder. La. So, but no worries. We'll just let Claude do its thing.

Okay, finally, I took about, I want to say five minutes. Um, which is hopefully the longest time you spend uh for it for the prompt in this video demo. While Claude is running that process for us, remember if you're enjoying the step-by-step video lessons like this that are easy to follow along, then make sure to drop a like down below and subscribe if you want to see more. We've done a lot of AI and trading videos in the past already, and I have a lot more ideas coming up soon.

Okay, so now that we built the skeleton for this pre-market AI analyst pipeline, we're moving on to stage number three, which is creating a second AI brain. Okay, I'll admit this part is kind of extra, but I got the inspiration from this YouTube comment over here from my trading view and Claude code video. And I thought this comment provided a really, really good idea. So, thank you so much. And the comment is from Mousashi. Um, so essentially he he mentioned that I should try getting ChatGPT Codex CLI installed within Claude so I can have an independent analysis that can double-check any mistakes that Claude made. And I thought that's such a good idea. We all know that AI can hallucinate and make some careless mistakes, especially when it doesn't have any specific prompts. So that's why I want to incorporate having Codex as a second AI brain. The idea here is to bring in another very smart and proficient AI model to fact-check everything for us every single morning. Obviously, we all know that Codex is created by OpenAI, two completely different companies. So, it physically can't just echo and mirror whatever opinion Claude has. So, this is a prompt to use. Essentially, we're going to set up Open Codex CLI as an independent second brain. So, I'm going to copy and paste here.

To do this, make sure you already have Codex CLI installed. I already did that, so that's why I don't need to install it. But if you don't, you can ask Claude to do it for you. Or just to go to my prompt here. You can see step 3.1. Um, you can copy this prompt and paste into Claude and Claude will install the the CLI for Codex for you. So I asked Claude to explain how the connection for the second brain works with Codex. So this is what it generated. Um essentially this is how Codex connects to Claude according to Claude. Um so Claude can run terminal commands and Codex is a terminal command. So Claude essentially just running that terminal command for you, the user. So the first brain is Claude, which is the current session that we're in. Brain number two is Codex and a doorway is one script that Claude can run in your terminal for you. Um, you know, and Codex by OpenAI, it's blind, so it doesn't see any connection from Claude from the pre-market analyst. It's able to generate independent analysis um based on the same criteria we fed it earlier. So it's definitely not echoing Claude's own idea. So both views, they they kind of generate independent ideas and the final product will be from both of these AI models that's merged into one final pre-market analyst report for you.

So let's go back to Claude now and see what it built. So here's a summary. Uh so it created the Codex shell file, whatever. Um, okay. All right. So let's see what Claude did. So essentially established that connection. Um, and we can run a little test. Um, okay. So, let's just copy this and run a test if it's ready. So, we're asking Codex right now. So, it's running a wrapper with a test prompt. It's asking essentially trying to reach Codex right now. Okay. So now that the connection is established and it's now ready, we can now ask both of these brains to generate their ideas for the pre-market analyst report. Now, so let's go to this page here and I'm going to copy the prompt again. Remember, we're going to build and run the two-brain layer in one go. Okay, copy and paste.

While Claude is working the magic, let's talk about the cost now to run two AI models and two AI brains essentially. As we talked about in my previous videos, I have the Claude Max plan for $100 a month, but you don't need that. You can have the lower plan, I think Premium for $20 a month. Um, that should be enough to run this pre-market analyst pipeline. As for the ChatGPT, um I have the ChatGPT Plus plan which is $20 a month. That's what I'm paying. So calling the second brain every single morning costs me zero additional. Again, we're just using the base subscriptions here and the cheapest one too. So creating a pre-market analyst report every single morning would not cost you extra API calls because uh those API usage can add up as as you know, really quickly.

Okay. So you can see Claude is done. It generated Claude's full report here which we can open up and see and it also wired in Codex to give another opinion here. Okay. So on screen over here I'm just opening the file. I know the text is really small again, later it will be a lot prettier. So Claude created all this pre-market summary here which it's going to show up in a really nice report later on. Um, and Codex essentially went in and looked at what it disagreed and agreed. Um, so here's a summary here written in Claude, what they agreed um is these items. So agreed on what to skip. So all the different tickers here all rejected by both for the different reasons. Okay. Gapping downs, thing, relative volume below 200 SMA, that that's fine. Um, that this is a section they agreed on and every single morning you're gonna see something like this in your um pre-market analyst report. So that's pretty cool where they disagree on these tickers and the action plan on that. Um, so that's interesting. Again, we're going to read into the two comparison later on when we generate a really pretty template and report. Speaking of watch lists, like I mentioned earlier, I send out a free weekend watch list on Sundays that includes three to four stocks I'm watching for the week, the game plan, and a comprehensive market update for day traders and swing traders. You can sign up for free with the link down below.

Okay, so now that we have the two analysis reports from the two AI models, it's time to move on to stage number four, which is compiling everything together into the pretty pre-market template. So, this is where we're going to have Claude put on the editor's hat and put everything we generated so far into the beautiful pre-market template you saw earlier. So, I'm going to go to stage four, which is the merge um again and Claude editor. We're going to copy this prompt to put everything together using the format we fed it earlier. All right, as you can see, it'll even talk about, you know, H1, H3, like how to title everything, what's bolded, um, and all these emojis. Again, you can like obviously remove or edit this yourself, but this is kind of from the inspirations I had from my weekend watch list.

Okay, so this is what Claude just built us. As you can see this really beautiful uh AI pre-market report. Obviously right now it says Humble Trader because I created it, but feel free to change your name. So okay, the rules you can see that's very clearly written that it's built by the rules which again, my trading rules for day trading trend join long and swing trading with the gappers and real catalysts. That's great. You can see the market sentiment risk off under the hood with split tape. Okay, that's the market sentiment for the day. And then give me the pre-market gappers, the I think the top 10 gappers and the catalyst for the day. That's great. This is personally the stuff I look at every single morning. And next is the day trading watch list. Again, this is based on the trend long strategy with the rules that I fed it to Claude earlier. So different tickers, catalyst, and the levels and the plan for trend long. And you can see Codex's opinion over here as well. So that's very interesting. Again, you can customize all these rules yourself. And swing trading watch list. That's great. There's only one ticker um that I think Claude and Codex both agreed on. You can see interesting. And market trends of the day, technical signals, and any economic events for the day. And below, this is where you're going to see where the two brains, the two AI models kind of agreed on and disagreed on. So, this is very interesting, at least to me, because I guess I'm a nerd. Um, but this is the kind of pre-market report I want to have generated and emailed to my inbox every single morning by about 8:40, 8:45 a.m. during pre-market hours.

Now, we're ready to move on to stage number five, which is delivery of the pre-market reports straight to your email inbox. I don't know about you, but uh sometimes I turn on my computer in the morning pre-market and I want to make coffee and I'm just looking at different movers on my phone. So that's why I want this pre-market analyst report with all the catalysts and the gappers you saw earlier um to be viewable on my phone in an email essentially. So once again, I'm going to go to my blog and copy this prompt to email the HTML reports to my inbox with Resend. So, I'm going to copy and paste.

So, we're going to send this automated email every single morning by 8:45 a.m. by using the service called Resend. This is a free email service. Um, it's free to sign up. I already signed up and Claude will walk you through it, but this is what the website looks like, an email for developers. Um, again, it's free to sign up. I already have an account, so I'm just going to log in really quick to show you where to grab the API. This is the only API key you need um in this u demo. Okay, so you can see I'm already logged in. I already had an account before. So you're just going to go to, I mean, Claude is going to ask you for it. Go to API keys and I'm going to blur all this. And you're just going to create a new API key with a name, full access, domain if you have it, and add and give Claude the key. Really, really simple, easy peasy. Very nice.

I just got the email and going to put it on the screen over here from Claude. And the email is going to be from the address onboarding@resend.dev. Again, that's the email service we just signed up for. And I see the pre-market report for Humble Trader summary gappers. This is perfect. So, every single morning, everything I need is on my phone over here. So, this is now wired in. So, every single morning pre-market on schedule, you're going to see the pre-market report sent to your email in HTML file, or you can even send it to your WhatsApp or Telegram if you prefer. So, it shows up every single morning while you are drinking your coffee.

Okay, now it's time for some real talk because I'm not going to sell you a money printer. Like, it's not that easy, right? This pre-market analyst report created by Claude and Codex, they're just meant to support your existing strategy and pre-market morning prep. They're not signals to buy or sell. And that's how I'm personally using it, too. I'm using it as a shortcut to get to the pre-market planning that I usually do, but I still got to do the work myself as a trader. The point of this whole AI system that we've been building isn't to replace you, the trader, completely. It's to optimize and speed up your process every single day pre-market.

Once again, every prompt we use today during the demo is in the building guide you can copy for free on my blog down below. And special thank you to Questrade for sponsoring this video. Make sure to check out the custom indexing, the Humble Hedge. And you can enter to win $70,000 with a link down below. Now, this pre-market AI analyst that we just built tells you what to watch, but it doesn't pull the trigger to execute trades for you. If you want to see how I took a back-tested strategy all the way to an AI trading bot that places its own buy and sell, then you should check out my other AI trading videos over here.
