I still want to talk about Lindsey Graham because there is still a lot to talk about. His life so perfectly encapsulates the shameless and disgusting lying and hypocrisy of the Republican party. So blatant and so obvious, but not ever questioned or pointed out by the people in their cult. And I'm not just talking about the lies of being pro-life or pro-family, talking about peace while actively war-mongering all the time. No, I'm talking about the lie of Lindsey Graham's sexuality. Something that was talked about throughout the entirety of his life.
Lots of jokes were made yesterday about the fact that, you know, everyone was saying that we should pray for Lindsey Graham's wife and kids and family. And it was like, who are those people? Who are the people in Lindsey Graham's life? Well, apparently, um, they're they're young and they're um and uh and they're breaking their NDAs or not breaking their NDAs, but their NDAs are no longer there. Uh, they are coming out and they are speaking out and people are sharing what seems to be a little more than rumors and it is breaking the internet because this is just confirmation, or seems to be confirmation at this point, of what we've always thought about Lindsey Graham.
Now, before we get to that, I I just have a little bit to say on the fact that Lindsey Graham is still a horrifying person and the fact that all of my comments were flooded yesterday with y'all saying the same thing and agreeing that we are not, you know, beating around the bush or doing the civility thing or or you got to be respectful. We got to mourn. I don't mourn what he was: a war-mongering bigot. I'm I'm very proud of the community that we have here and I'm glad that there is an appetite to actually be honest and real and to shoot straight and to not do the both sides thing or to not kiss Trump's ass like Jake Tapper. So, I just want to say thank you to y'all um first and foremost before we get into this Lindsay, this gay little Lindsay stuff because his secrets coming out. I just had to say that cuz I was proud of the the community that we built. I am proud of the community that we built, but specifically yesterday it kicked ass.
So, let's have a little bit more fun and talk about the fact that Lindsey Graham is gay, or was, I guess I should say. And then I want to talk about the response from Democratic senators after that. So, do stick around. Uh, this is the news I want to start with. Again, I'm still talking about this cuz it's still important. But let's see what was shared by friend of the show, Keith Edwards. Keith Edwards shared on Twitter, "Apparently, the NDAs are no longer enforceable." Referencing these posts about Lindsey Graham.
One Instagram user took to the platform to write, "Just woke up to find out Lindsey Graham is dead, lol. Most of you know him as the homophobic senator from South Carolina, but to me, he will always be the man who paid a Twinkie pre-transition college student." Raising that hand, a fat stack of cash to do unspeakable things to him in a hotel room while he wore red lingerie. It is a canon trans event to have far-right freaks bankrolling you and then turning around and voting against you. People love to judge us for it, but I never see them opening their wallets. Shout out to sex workers everywhere forced to humanize their enemies just to make rent.
So, this person is claiming that they had uh an experience, to put it one way, with Lindsey Graham. It is an absolute mind-blower to me, I said to me, that one of the reasons I have any semblance of financial security and a lack of student loans is because of this man. At the time, I had no idea who he was, and I only figured it out because another group of twinks leaked Lady G to the media. Some queers tried to grandstand critique this, saying we shouldn't out people. I believe bigots with power deserve no peace or privacy. My god, does that ring true, especially when they hold public office. I'm glad they did it. Icons Forever referencing of course all that conversation, all those rumors about Lindsey, which this individual seems to be be confirming, at least allegedly. Anyway, if you've ever enjoyed what I do on the internet, know that it is part because of Lindsey Graham's generous donation over a decade ago. If I've ever sent you money for something, know that was kickstarted by a now deceased senator from South Carolina. The user ended with, "Lindsey, rest in hell for what you did to our community. I will continue to love queer and trans people harder than you ever hated us. You loved every second of our time together, and now everyone knows."
Someone from South Carolina claiming that they had an experience with Lindsey Graham. Uh, it appears to be, you know, a trans creator on Instagram saying that when they were pre-transition, uh, they had a little bit of something with Lindsey Graham and and they're sharing that now. And so this is this is Lindsey's legacy. Like the more people are going to say stuff, I wouldn't be surprised if the um if the the guys, the young guys, I don't I don't know what type of guys Lindsey was all about in Israel, maybe start piping up and and and sharing. Although I'm sure Netanyahu doesn't want everyone to know that that's the reason why he loved Israel so much besides all those AIPAC donations that he got. But that is the response that Lindsey Graham deserves. And and I wanted to read that not just because this is an individual and uh and Keith did a video about this too. He he covered it as well, you know, sharing this alleged, as we know right now, interaction between them and Lindsey, but also because the privacy and peace should never be known by people who use their power to harm us is absolutely correct. I completely agree with that.
There does not get to be civility for the the words that we use towards public officials who are dead. Like I was so confused yesterday when it was like, well, you can't say mean things about Lindsey Graham. It's like, was he going to get his feelings hurt? If I read the reporting correctly, and I did. I was excited. He he can't have his feelings hurt anymore. But this civility, this placation of power in the status quo is to keep us from doing anything else, right? Because if we think that just a couple of naughty words and some funny jokes and posts are are horrible and that we are we're better than that, then we'll certainly never challenge their power when they're alive or seeking power or harming us, right? Like if we won't challenge them when they're dead, that's the point. If we won't do it when they're no longer alive, we certainly won't when they are. We certainly will not spend our time making sure that they know no peace and that their horrible secrets that expose their hypocrisy get no privacy. And that is what I think is so important here. And that's why I wanted to talk about it. And it's also why I want to talk about what Cory Booker posted yesterday. Truly one of the most insane things I've ever seen from a man who should probably spend a little less time on the internet. A lot of lot of posting from Cory Booker. Um, I wouldn't say it's always been tremendously successful. Sometimes it's like repost of seals or like stuff on Instagram. I don't know. He's just he he loves he loves Instagram. Um, but he took to a little selfie video and said this yesterday. I I don't know why I am a nice guy and I love you all. So, I'm not going to subject you to this entire 2-minute video of Cory Booker recounting his friendship with Lindsey Graham. But to write on Twitter, "I am stunned by Senator Graham's passing and thinking back this morning about some of the work we did together. My prayers are with his family and all who cherished him. Rest in peace."
Cory Booker is a particularly performative individual. And to to say that you fervently disagreed with Lindsey Graham on everything about your political identity and ideology there the entirety of his time in the Senate and your time in the Senate and then to just go, well, I cherished him deeply. How how did you cherish him? Right? Were you able to separate what your job is, what your role is as a U.S. senator, representing the interests of people who need you to protect them, to like hang out with Lindsey Graham? This is a thing I never get when people talk about. And I wish I wish we could get back to a time in which we just we got along. And not and not just everyday people, working people, cuz they do, like we have to. How how else would the world work? And that doesn't mean you can't unfriend your crazy like MAGA friend or, you know, former college roommate or I I don't know, anyone from your office because they're posting some weird Trump and oh, they love dear leader. No, no, no. I'm just talking about like all of us and the rest of society, like we have to deal with it. These people can actually make decisions to not have to deal with it, to not deal with each other. But they don't talk about civility in in terms of building community and kind of restoring some sort of soul in this nation that honors and upholds dignity and respect for working people above all else. No, what they're talking about is they want to go back to a time in which they could fraternize and hang out without getting criticism from us. That's what they really want. They want to be able to get some beers afterward, couple of cocktails, go to a nice dinner, big steaks, maybe we do some crab, a little lobster, have it all fronted by AIPAC. Cory Booker's taking plenty of AIPAC money. Lindsey Graham, plenty of AIPAC money. And not have to hear, uh, us, the whiners and the complainers. You and I, that's what we are. We're the whiners and complainers who want to stand in the way of their fun time, all paid for by the state of Israel. God, why are we such whiners and complainers, you and I? Why do we have to do that? Shouldn't we let the nice millionaire politicians have their fun with the people who fundamentally disagree with the idea that every person is entitled to their basic humanity? Why do we stand in the way of that fun? That that's what they're telling us. That's what they're saying.
I could not cherish or love or befriend someone who fundamentally disagreed with the idea that all people deserve dignity, especially if that is what I spent my public life and my public office speaking on all the time. Like that is Lindsey Graham, closeted, you know, gay guy level of hypocrisy. And I just found it ridiculous. It was a ridiculous day yesterday. And you will really be disappointed. And I'm sorry that I'm going to break this news to you. And I know this was a bit of an untraditional episode. So if you're sticking around with me till now, talking about someone I love, I love you. But I I hate to disappoint you and I don't think you will be because I'm sure that you you get this is going to happen. [clears throat] There will be a lot of Democratic politicians who who mourn Trump. I'm serious. Who like perform the act of saying, well, we got to be respectful. Former president. I I respect the office. This is something that they say. You respect the office, then like frame a picture of it. What do you mean you respect the office? It's an office, the building. You respect it. Is this like Curb where Larry respects wood? What are you talking about? Respect it. It's one of the most ridiculous things you hear from people. If anyone ever tells you that you have to respect something, well, you have to respect the office of the presidency. You actually don't. It doesn't exist for you to have to respect it. It exists to protect you. Government doesn't give you your rights. Government defends them. Right? That is the purpose of this experiment. That was our founding documents, that these these rights, this basic dignity is not awarded to us by some government, but our government is designed to protect it. So you don't have to respect the presidency. The the presidency is here for you. And so there will be people who mourn. There will be people who say be respectful. The same thing's gonna happen with Mitch McConnell. Cory Booker will probably tell some story about good old Mitch. Some bourbon that they had or some ridiculous. I don't know because these people are are wild and they're out of touch. It's all one big club. We're not a part of it. But they're going to do it with Trump, too. Don't allow them to call them out. Don't even allow those people to be in office when they do. These are the obstacles they put in place to our criticism. This demand for respect, for civility. We're not like lighting stuff on fire in the street. And and why would it be so wrong if we did protest? Isn't that also what founded this country? Don't we have a First Amendment right? You certainly want to strip it from us.
Cory Booker was one of those Democrats who was rather quiet when Mahmoud Khalil was being locked up, thrown in jail, made to miss the birth of his firstborn son for what? Peacefully organizing on Columbia's campus, calling out a genocide, being a student leader. Cory was a little quiet. Didn't talk about that that much. So, they don't love it when we protest either. They don't love it when we do really much of anything, do they? Except be nice to Lindsey. I'm not doing that. It's ridiculous. You can't claim that your values are one thing and then cherish a person whose are the opposite. No, no, no, no. I will not deal with that level of hypocrisy. And I am not going to allow it to impede us actually moving forward with progress because it'll be this demand for civility that says, well, maybe not Medicare for All right now. Maybe just we work through the process. Maybe we take some time. You don't know what you're doing. That's what they'll say. And I'm not going to allow that. Uh, this has kind of all went all over the place, but you know, I just I want to share some thoughts. That is the show.
