At AAN, health and safety is our main goal. Thus, our commitment with quality, health, safety, and environment is an essential part of our policy, and for which we are fully responsible for its fulfillment within the management system framework. Based on the international reference standards, we contribute to creating a safe work environment. Our employees, contractors, and clients are aware that throughout all the stages of our production process, there is room only for the highest standards of quality, safety, and environment. The aim of this training video is to raise awareness regarding the safety measures and procedures in place at our workplace. It is our responsibility to contribute to the achievement of a safe working environment.

Entrance to Atican is controlled by a strict security system according to international standards. No employee or visitor can access without proper authorization. An ID card or passport must be submitted at the access point in order to be allowed in. Only authorized vehicles may access the premises. In the car park, all vehicles must park facing the road, thus ensuring quick evacuation in case of emergency. The use of the car park is discretionary.

Inside the shipyard, it is essential to be aware of the presence of pedestrians and the circulation of machinery. Note that the speed limit is 20 km/h. Do not block the pedestrian safety routes at any time. It is completely forbidden to park vehicles in work areas, and only cargo loading or unloading is allowed. The yellow safety path with a pedestrian sign must be used by pedestrians when walking within the shipyard. Please use the path when walking around the facilities. Given the amount of machinery in use and the ongoing work near the dry dock ships, it is essential to walk with extreme caution.

According to our policy, smoking is forbidden in the shipyard, except in the designated areas for that purpose. For safety reasons, smoking is not allowed at work areas, in the vicinity of the machinery, and when on board. At FA CAN, we follow a zero-tolerance on alcohol and drugs policy. This is applied according to the current regulation and the national laws.

The HSC Engineers, among their duties, must coordinate the resources needed to carry out the different tasks with high safety standards in all the shipyard projects. An HSC engineer is appointed for that purpose. Please contact them regarding any safety matters. Furthermore, the firewaters are responsible for enforcing the national safety regulations and supervising the hot works performed on board or tasks considered high-risk, such as work in confined spaces or heights, etc. In addition, they coordinate those responsible for safety in the contracting firms. They also evaluate potential interferences and reinforce the safety measures to avoid future incidents and accidents.

According to the ISBS code, security guards are responsible for the protection of the personnel, facilities, and material goods. They also control the access to the shipyard and perform random security inspections in the yard. Making use of the PPE, such as high visibility clothing, hard hat, safety glasses, and safety shoes, is mandatory when accessing the premises. If you go on board or wish to undertake any work, you must make use of work clothes, safety gloves, and ear protection in the event of noise. Furthermore, different types of work may have specific PPEs depending on the activity and according to the corresponding risk assessment. Remember the obligation to carry PPE equipment at all times.

In the shipyard, access on board is to be undertaken via gangways installed on the sides of the vessels. The ships usually have their own access control system managed by the crew with the aim of monitoring circulation on board. If the ship has a visitor's book available, you will need to identify yourself once on board and fill out the information required, as well as register your exit when you leave. Access via the tcard system is quite common for offshore projects and for full repair projects. For this system, you will have your own tcard with your name. It will be placed in the proper rack depending on whether you are on board the vessel or oil rig or not.

Atican has an efficient and integrated work permit system to monitor and control the ongoing work. This is a basic tool for assessing the potential interferences between works and determining the safety measures to be used. To apply it, it is essential to read and understand a work permit before starting to carry out any task. We frequently carry out inspections or works inside confined spaces. Before going in, the chemist must check the atmosphere inside and issue a confined spaces entry certificate according to the task to be performed.

[Music]

Inside, if you detect any change on the initial conditions or levels noted on the confined space entry certificate, you must abandon the confined space immediately and suspend the task. Call the safety brigade or supervisor. Due to our ship repair work, put works are quite common. The use of specific PPE, having work equipment prepared and correctly placed, and the application of preventative measures are key elements to avoid any kind of incident. It is important to keep in mind that in order to carry out any hot work, it is mandatory to have a duly issued work permit and also the presence of at least a Firewater to control and monitor the task at all times.

Works performed over 2 m high will be equipped by the proper ctive protection systems. Otherwise, a full body harness will be needed, hooked to an anchor point with enough resistance to prevent a fall.

These works are based on the treatment and preparation of the hull surface, mainly blasting and painting works. When these activities are ongoing, we should always use protection properly, wearing here in and respiratory protection. These PPEs are mandatory also in the surrounding areas during the process.

In mechanical works, it is decisive to choose the adequate equipment and tools for the task to carry out. It is necessary to have a strict maintenance and control, checking that they are in good condition by means of disconnection, bleedout, and isolation before use.

Electrical works are part of the daily routine of the shipyard. When carrying them out, it is essential to establish preventative measures to ensure the safety of the workers. Respect the specific electrical signs at the workplace. Those tasks that require working without tension and a proper electrical isolation should be communicated and monitored by a work permit and the corresponding authorization.

Our daily activity requires multiple operations with different kinds of CR. The hoisting equipment and elements must be certified and be in good condition. Also, all personnel involved must have the certified training for their use. Be trained to carry out this task. Please follow the instructions given by maneuver supervisor and do not generate any interference during the performance.

The use of cherry pickers, forklifts, cranes, and bulldozers is freid in the shipyard. When you drive one of these, you must respect the existing traffic regulations and only use them for the purpose that they have been designed. You should have the required training to use this machinery and also specific authorization granted by Atican. Use responsibly with extreme caution at all times.

The use of chemical products is common in the shipyard production process. For this reason, their usage and storage are strongly regulated. Only the entrance of authorized chemical products whose composition and risks are known through the material safety data sheets is permitted. Unauthorized chemical products require prior approval from the HSC department.

At Atican, achieving good safety standards is only possible by ensuring and maintaining the housekeeping at the workplace. Hits and falls as a result of poor housekeeping can result in accidents. To this reason, keep the following points in mind: remove and classify the materials and scraps, create a clean and tidy environment to locate the materials and equipment easily, avoid dirtiness and clean as soon as possible, create and implement safe work habits, focusing on encouraging housekeeping.

Along the dry dock lanes, there are supply points with compressed air, fresh water, and seawater for cooling and fire line. All of them use for general services provided to the ships. Only authorized personnel can handle these supply points. Permanent switchboards, electrical cabinets are installed along the dry dock lanes used for supplying electricity to the ships and the works performed on the quay side. Furthermore, depending on the needs, portable switchboards will be connected on board the ship to supply electricity for the works.

[Music]

Use only plugs and devices in proper condition. Once you finish using the equipment, disconnect them from the power supply. Only authorized personnel can handle the switchboards.

Depending on the activity and ships stay at the shipyard, there is generated domestic waste and residues of different nature. These residues are processed and disposed of according to the current regulation. The treatment of hazard waste is managed through a strict waste management process in which all waste is identified and properly stored until its final reception by the waste management plant. To ensure an adequate waste management, the residues must be correctly classified. You will have to classify the waste in the suitable containers to comply with the regulation.

At the shipyard, we provide the human and material resources to deal with an accidental spillage. A quick response is crucial to reduce their effects. If any of these situations happens, remove and stop all ignition sources from the area, evacuate the affected area, check the MSDS if needed, notify your supervisor or safety brigade.

[Music]

We need the collaboration of everyone to accomplish our main objective: have zero accidents at Atican. For that purpose, we provide procedures and work instructions and specific training. We are counting on you to prevent incidents and accidents. The AEAN emergency plan covers different kinds of emergencies at the shipyard. The different intervention teams act based on gravity levels. If the plan is activated, all the human and material resources are available to the Emergency Response Team to deal with the emergency. If there is an unsafe situation, stop the work and, if it is necessary, then evacuate the area. Inform everybody around, as well as your supervisor. If the emergency happens at your workplace, you must act in the initial phase of the emergency without compromising your integrity. Help the rest of workers around the area. Inform any of the following about the emergency situation: control center, supervisor, ship manager, firewatcher. Once the emergency response teams arrive, follow their instructions and evacuate the eror calmly and proceed to the muster point.

[Music]

Some drills are performed to keep the emergency response teams and our personnel properly trained and coordinated. These drills cover subjects such as confined space rescue, fire, spillage, and evacuation, among others.

[Music]

At Asican, we are glad to have you as part of our team, promoting health and safety within and outside the workplace, as well as avoiding accidents, which is only possible with your efforts and joint collaboration. So, join us.
