I've had people ask me, "Was Jesus black or was Jesus white?"
"THE ONLY PERSON ON EARTH WITH HAIR LIKE THIS IS CHRIST. CHRIST WAS AN AFRICAN."
"JESUS is black." Yeah, I know what you're saying. It doesn't matter.
"It matters, bro."
"And Jesus was not a white man [music] like me, nor was he as black as some of you."
"So, God's black."
"God is absolutely black as in the Bible."
"Who we is? I Jesus."
"And here's what I would say. He was not black, but he was not white. In fact, technically, no one is black and no one is white. I've had people say to [music] me, "Well, Adam and Eve, the first two people, were they black or white?" They were not black. They were not white. Cuz technically, [music] as I said, no one is black and no one is white. You know, people [music] just don't understand about skin color. You see, did you know humans have one basic skin [music] color? And it's because of a pigment called melanin. Now there's a number of pigments in your skin. But the main pigment for your color is a pigment called melanin. [music] And it's a brown pigment. Now you can also be affected in your skin by the amount of fat [music] in your skin. Can even give you yellowish tinge or how close your blood vessels are to the surface. Give you a bit of a a reddish look and so on. But everyone has the same basic skin color. And so it's not what color you are, it's what shade you are. lots of different shades from really dark, which they call black, but it's not. You're dark brown, to really light, which they call white, which is not because [music] then you are light brown. And in fact, if you look at this uh sheet of paper here, that is white. Do I look like that? Of course, I don't look like that. Uh I am not white. If you had someone here that you call black and you put true black beside them, you would see, oh, they're not true black. No, they're brown. They could be very very dark brown, extremely dark brown, but that's not black. When God made Adam and Eve, he gave them genetic diversity to allow lots of variation. And that's true in [music] skin shade as well. Now, from research I've done involved in regard to your skin shade, it's very complex. Actually, [music] your skin, there's two main layers. You have the epidermis, the outer layer, and then you have the dermis, the inner layer. At the bottom of the epidermis, there are these cells [music] called melanocytes. and they have these little tentacles that sort of go up through the epidermis. But melanocytes are the [music] cells that make the pigment melanin. Now, if you have genes that say make a lot of melanin and that migrates to the surface, you look very dark. [music] If you have the genes that say don't make that much melanin, then they migrate to the surface, but you don't look that dark. Like I'm not that dark, so I'm fairly light brown. Now, if people have [music] mutations that have a problem and they don't have much of that melanin, they can be called albinos. That's a problem and you have to do something about that medically because you need that melanin to protect you from ultraviolet radiation and so on. And so, Adam and Eve were probably middle ground. God gave them maximum genetic diversity so that in one generation you could get all the different shades from really dark to really light. Now, people say, "Well, that's impossible." Well, no, it's not. There are twins in the world today. Many examples of twins that are dark and light. People would call them black and white twins. They're not black and white. They're dark brown and light brown. Many Hispanic families, for instance, in America, in California, Florida, you often see Hispanic families where they're more middle brownish for the parents [music] and you find children that are darker than the parents and children lighter than the parents. It's just that genetic variation uh [music] because of the genes uh that they have. So nobody is black, nobody is [music] white. We're all the same color. We're different shades. And so when we say, "Oh, there's a group of colored people." That's everyone in the world is a group of colored people [music] because we all have the color. If we don't, as I said, you need to go do something about it. What we should be saying is [music] what shade is someone? Not what color they are, but what shade they are. You know, it's also a reminder that we're all one family. [music] We're all related. We're all one race. We all go back to Adam and Eve. Aren't they different races? [music] Because of the event of the Tower of Babel when God gave different languages. That causes people to move away from each other. Fact, Genesis 10 lists 70 different families with their languages that moved away from each other. Probably 70 different languages to start with. And as they moved away from each other, isolated from each other, depends on who marries who and so on. And depends on how isolated they are, who they mix with, as to what characteristics on the outside become the dominant ones in that particular group. And sometimes you end up with groups [music] that only have genes for dark skin, those that only have genes for light skin, and so on. But it's all to do with that genetic diversity that God put into our DNA in the first place. And so we see different people groups around the world that have different [music] shades of skin, different eye shapes, and so it goes on. It's all to do with the created diversity that God put there in the first place. [music] So was Jesus black or white? Jesus was not black? Jesus was not white. actually being over there in that particular area [music] uh of of of Israel and so on. He was probably more of a [music] middle brown from a perspective of a human being because he was 100% human, 100% God. [music] He was the God man. Probably middle brownish, I would say.
