All right, this is Dr. Michael Müller and today we are going to chat about GHK copper. Now, if you watch wellness videos, if you watch longevity videos, then you are familiar with GHK copper. In fact, it is quite popular for the skin. But, I am going to show you why GHK copper isn't just a peptide for the skin. In fact, it is absolutely essential for cellular health. And if you want to live longer, if you want to have a better quality of life, you need to keep the cells healthy.

And copper itself, copper, is a foundational micronutrient that is essential for cellular survival. So, if you want healthy cells, if you want cells that live longer, if you want cells that keep your skin younger, if you want cells that keep your organs, your heart, your brain, your lungs, if you want something that will keep these things younger, then you need to be sure that you have copper in your body. And how do you deliver copper to the body? Well, you can do that by diet and there's various other things you can do, but you can also take a peptide, okay? And this peptide can be injected, it could be used topically, but this peptide when injected can elevate your copper levels. And unfortunately, as we age, and age we all do, our copper levels decline, meaning by 50, your copper levels are probably half of what they were when you were 25. And when this happens, it causes problems at the cellular level, it causes problems at the organ level, and it causes problems everywhere in your body. So, let's talk about why copper is such a heavy hitter and why it is so important to keep your body healthy.

Well, number one, copper is essential for battling oxidative damage in the body. There is a an enzyme in your body called superoxide dismutase that defends your body against oxidative stress. And this enzyme, at its core, requires copper. So, if you want to fight oxidative damage in your body, if you want your cells to live longer, if you want to live longer, then copper is essential to fight the oxidative damage that occurs as we age.

Copper is also essential for structural integrity, okay? It's a cofactor for something an enzyme called lysyl oxidase, okay? And this enzyme is responsible for cross-linking collagen and elastin. And what is collagen and elastin? Well, when you're 25 years old and you abrade your skin or you bump your skin, it will stretch and go back into place. As we age, the skin will stretch and tear, okay? Wounds won't heal and the skin will look older. This is because of This is due to the fact that collagen and elastin aren't as healthy as they were when you were younger. So, copper can help your skin by helping your skin at the level of the collagen and the elastin, okay? So, without copper, your tissues will lose their bounce, they'll lose their strength, and your skin and your body will age. So, copper is essential as an antioxidant engine, it's essential for structural integrity of the skin, and it's extremely important for energy production.

Now, if you're new to my channel, folks, hit the like button and subscribe. Even though I'm a Mayo Clinic-trained family physician with a long background in longevity and wellness medicine, I am not your doctor. If you need medical advice, please see a doctor. Everything here is for entertainment and education. But, copper is absolutely essential for energy production. And if you follow my channel, you know that I love the mitochondria. The mitochondria is where our bodies make ATP, and ATP is the energy on which our cells run. And yes, you heard me correctly, copper is essential for that process to occur. And it does this by helping cytochrome c oxidase produce produce ATP in the cell within the mitochondria. And I love many peptides for the mitochondria. We talk about NAD, we talk about MOTS-c, we talk about SS-31, and today we're talking about copper and the peptide that carries copper copper into your body, and that peptide is GHK-Cu.

So, what does GHK do? Well, when you have copper floating around in the body, okay, it can actually cause problems. So, you can actually overdose on copper. In fact, I had a patient come in recently, and he was taking GHK-Cu every day for 2 years, okay, because that's what his buddy told him to do. I He came in to see me. He was on multiple peptides, and I looked him in the eye and I said, "You have to stop the GHK-Cu immediately because you can overdose on copper." And I'm not going to get into the details of that, but you can indeed overdose on copper. So, I told him, "Stop the injectable GHK-Cu and don't touch it for a year. And in the future, when you are getting peptides, be sure you are getting advice from a physician or a nurse practitioner or a PA, someone that is trained, okay, to to treat folks with peptides." So, I told him to stop his GHK-Cu because he likely, or very likely, could have gotten into trouble if he continued to take it.

Now, GHK is something in the body that has an affinity for copper, and it binds copper. So, when copper is loose and floating around in your body, GHK cop GHK will bind it, and then you get GHK copper. In that form, copper within your body is safe, okay? And then what the GHK will do is it will deliver the copper to where it's necessary to enhance cellular function and to keep you healthy. And keep you healthy it does. Copper is used for DNA repair. Copper is used for collagen synthesis synthesis. D GHK, I mean, copper is used for inflammation. Copper does so many good things in your body, okay? And we need to replete it, and we can do that by giving folks injections with GHK copper. What I do typically is I will load a patient with GHK copper for a month or two, and then I will go to a weekly maintenance dose. That's what I do in my clinic. You can also use GHK copper topically for the skin, and it works quite well. In my business, I'm a longevity physician, a lot of doctors like myself, we call GHK copper Botox in a bottle because it helps with aging spots, it helps with wrinkles, it does so many good things at the level of the skin. But as you can see, it does so much more.

So, the benefits of GHK copper, the benefits of copper in gen general are quite clear. But I'm going to talk a little bit more on the skin benefits, okay? When you use GHK copper via injection or when you use it topically, you have to understand it's not a superficial topical skin cream that just hydrates the skin or, you know, helps the skin to be more moist. It actually penetrates into the skin and it helps the body to synthe- synthesize more collagen and it will replace the damaged collagen with healthy collagen. And it does this at the level of the subcutaneous fat. It makes the subcutaneous fat healthier. It helps with the elastic tissues of the subdermis and dermis. It just helps the skin to get healthier and to improve and become more youthful. So, that is how it works. It also helps to tighten loose skin, right? I use lots of GLP-1 medications in my practice to help people lose weight and as the skin loosens it can, you know, get somewhat disfiguring. So, I will often use GHK copper via injection or topically to help improve the elasticity of the skin to help folks who lose weight to not have such saggy skin. It also helps reduce hyperpigmentation and it also helps to make the skin a bit thicker. So, you know, the skin acts as a protective barrier and thicker, healthier skin will be less less vulnerable to getting abraised or to, you know, having some type of infection or, you know, to breaking down in general. And oh yes, it does so much more. It also helps with hair. I get a lot a lot of young fellows women and men in my practice who have hair loss and I will use GHK copper to treat that, even to prevent it and to help the hair grow back. It actually blocks DHT, which is a common cause of of hair loss. It helps with to make the hair hair follicles healthier and it just does a lot of good things for hair and skin. So, if you're having hair issues, if you're having skin issues, then you might consider GHK copper.

It also helps quite a bit at the cellular level, okay? Copper helps with DNA and gene expression. There was a study that Dr. Loren Pickart did that showed that GHK can upregulate youthful genes and it can downregulate destructive genes. It also helps to downregulate pro-inflammatory genes. In essence, what it did is it reset people's genes to a healthier state, meaning it in essence made those genes younger and healthier, okay? So, that's what it does at the DNA level and at the gene level, okay? So, it's just an incredible peptide and that's why I use it so much in my practice. It helps with immune immune healing and wound healing, okay? And it does this by recruiting immune cells to the site of the injury and that helps the injury the tissue the injured tissue to repair quicker and to regenerate. It helps with the gut lining. It helps with ligament issues, tendon issues, muscle issues, anywhere in the body where repair needs to occur, copper can assist that recovery. We talked about its benefits in regards to inflammation. It can help with pain, joint pain, arthritis, all types of things, but again, you have to use it in moderation. Folks, if you're using peptides, you just don't go online to some, you know, online store and start buying them hand over fist. Peptides need to be used some regularly, some periodically, sometimes you'll cycle off of a peptide or onto a peptide, but you just can't start stacking peptides. Many of my patients come in on 10 or 12 peptides and after seeing them and addressing things, I'll get them feeling great on just three or four or five peptides. So folks, again, see a physician if you need assistance in regards to peptides.

So, in essence, folks, it's really simple. Copper has many, many, many benefits, right? And you can get it via injection, or you can go ahead and use it topically. And it does wonderful things, but it also carries risks. You can take too much copper, and too much copper can get you into trouble. So, if you're using GHK for extended times, you want or GHK copper for extended times, you don't want to do that. And again, see a physician for guidance on this issue. I love peptides. I love GHK copper. I love the cells. If you want to live longer, you have to keep your cells healthy. It's that simple. But, peptides alone aren't the cure. You have to exercise. You have to get rid of bad habits. You have to eat right. You have to get rid of body fat, and you need to increase muscle mass. If you do these things, not only will you have a longer and healthier life, but you will have a better quality of life. So, folks, if you're new, hit the like button and subscribe. Thanks for listening. I'll be back at you soon. Bye.
