The 40-Yard Dash Myth: It’s NOT About the Start

I AM LONGEVITY2:25

Hi everyone. September 6, 2025.

I'm practicing some 40 yard dashes, but this is about 60 70 yards long, right? It's not as steeper as my other hills, but it's about 20 25° slope. But anyway, what I am practicing is not the start. People are confused. It's not the start on the 40 yard dash. It's the Vmax, the maximum velocity.

What do I mean by maximum velocity? Well, here's a study right here on the screen. This specific study evaluated combined football players and they realized all of them their maximum velocity happens around the 15 yard line. So what I'm doing is I'm starting here but as soon as the uphill comes is 15 yards and that's how I trade my maximum velocity because then it gets harder and I trade my maximum velocity like this. I'm going all out ladies and gentlemen. This is what I do.

I do like 20 sprints and I'm going to show you a couple right now so you can see the shoe is about 15 yards. That's when it starts going uphill. That's how I train it. 15 yards away. Barefooted. I do skips, hops, running backwards, zigzag, you name it, I do it all. I stretch very good before I do this.

Anyway, maybe you'll enjoy this tip. Not many people are aware of this V-Max. Everybody thinks that the start is what matters most in a 40 dash. It's the V-Max. Ladies and gentlemen, have a wonderful day.
